I did that a couple of days ago but there was no change then. I think its starting to work better now, strangely the market is working fine now all of a sudden, some apps too not all of them, what did I do right?

fw 2.3.3, and I'm not sure what is a bootloader?
Another forum good advice they give . Follow our instructions then ask someone else to fix it .Would not be sure as to proper instructions given .
You can only update via Kies if their is a firmware for your product code on the server .
If it works ok leave it but if not then you would be best to wait for release of Gingerbread or use the flashing Gingerbread methods posted on this forum and reflash .

Use astro file manager and in preferences check enable browser downloads.
Swyped from a galaxy far far away.
You are using a rom that breaks phones end of story .

Try checking your browser settings and if everything is in order, IE browser downloads enabled, try downloading a different browser on the market.
If download still fails on different browsers, reflash your rom and try again.
If it still fails, try flashing a different rom(stock or any other custom) and try again.
Post again if problem persists.
I was using 2.2 froyo on i9000. Previously rooted with rageinthecage then one click lag fix. However because of carelessness I forgot to convert back to stock before running the kies update.
The kies update to 2.3.3 (JV5) was successful but the phone (of course) went into a bootloop. I figured out the problem only at that time. I then tried to flash Ficeto rom, which to my surprise, works. I understand that I can go to darky 10.1 anytime, but the problem is that I need Chinese input which is only available on JV5 (for 2.3.3).
I tried to flash JV5 on odin after disabling lagfix in the voodoo bootloader. However I encounted the following problem while formatting /dbdata:
:: E: format_volume: rfs format failed on /dev/block/stl10
May I thus consult the fellow member on this forum:
1) Could I go back to earlier version of Darky (e.g. 9.2) using odin?
2) Could I install the JV5 by converting /dev/block/stl10... and How do I do that?
Thank you very much!
This happens because the DBDATA partition of your firmware is now corrupt. You need to flash XXXJPU or EZBase to fix the issue...
Thank you very much. I'll try that in the next week or something.
Is this the rom I should download for EZbase: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991792 ?
I just flashed Darkyrom 10.1 and it worked so I think I'll leave it as is for today. Do you think that the 'resurrection edition' of Darkyrom would work?
Thanks

Yes, that's the EZBase thread... And it should clean everything up very well. Not too sure of Darky's...
Hi. I have a newly purchased SGS which runs android 2.1. When I connect it to my laptop via the usb cable and run Kies, I get a message in bold letters saying "This version of the device cannot be updated", in the firmware information tab.
It shows "Current firmware version: PDA:JG8 / PHONE:JG2 / CSC:JG9 (DBT)"
I want to upgrade to 2.2 and 2.3, or directly to 2.3 (if possible), without rooting my phone.
This phone is purchased from Saudi Arabia and did not have the Market app, Youtube app, Maps app and Navigation app initially. But when I selected restore factory settings from settings menu, I got all of the above apps installed automatically.
I have latest version of Kies installed.
Please, please help me how to upgrade without rooting my device.
If you want, you can download the latest UK Gingerbread XXJVT ROM from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1289875
then follow the steps to manually flash a new ROM from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=723596
Thanks for the reply. I found the "how to install guide" in the first link itself. Gotta take some time though to get it installed as I have a pretty slow connection.
Just make sure you back up you data before flashing!
I Swyped this on my Galaxy S
I have downloaded the following files:
i9000XXJVT.zip (android 2.3.5) &
Semaphore_kernel_JVT_1.8.2bm.tar
I have read the how to guide and want to instal the new firmware!
Am I good to go?
waiting for reply !
How about Odin? I see that you chose the BM version of Semaphore, just take note that it'll screw up your 720p video recording.

Hi sorry about replying so late. Busy in exams! Well I downloaded odin 1.83 from a website (don't remember the name). And I downloaded the normal version of semaphore too.
Hey.... Thanx for being patient with me! I was quite upset to see that my phone would not be upgraded but now I believe that the latest firmware for my device is only a few clicks away! Thanx alot.
So am I ready? To flash?
It's our carriers fault for not providing the latest firmware, UK usually gets the latest firmwares first.
Yes you are ready to flash. Just take note that by installing the semaphore kernel, your phone will be immediately rooted, just reminded you because of what you've written in your first post.
Just follow the steps on flashing a firmware then after that, flash Semaphore kernel.
Good luck! I hope you'll love your new firmware. The performance improvement will be very noticeable compared your current Eclaire FW.

And i have downloaded the JVT phone fix But I dont know how to install it.

Don't bother with the phone fix unless you really have constant phone force closes, because it might make the problem worse. If you had wiped everything before flashing, you don't have to wipe again.
Also, I noticed that you downloaded semaphore's kernel. But you said you didn't want to root your device. Well, semaphore's kernel, as well as all custom kernels here, are rooted. So, if you don't want root, just flash only the files from that JVT.zip which you downloaded.
Yes. I understood that. And I still don't want to root but a member of the forum said I should make an efs-backup since I'm flashing for the first time. Thats why I downloaded the semaphore kernel. Have not yet touched that though.
Is it okay without the efs-backup? I have flashed my phone and its working almost fine. Only thing is Boot up is pretty slow and after start-up, I get a message about some service (related to samsung) has stopped working.
Rest of it, I'm loving it! Its fast!!
Accedintally deleted my Gmail and talk apps after rooting my phone .... my market stopped downloading ...
can i get gmail and talk backup please ??or any help to get my market back
sorry for my english
what rom? and you can probably flash gapps i'll find the link for you
http://goo-inside.me/gapps/gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip
flash that in your recovery if that fails just reinstall the rom
Umm... Maybe you could just pick it from some ROMS and directly install it as a normal app. Take care of the app versions. They should be compatible.
Or just use PCC , get back to stock and re-root. Simple
downloadProvider.apk and downloadProviderUI.apk you deleted?
yes!

Re-created your predicament. Flashing gapps from the link provided above should be your quickest (and surest) way to overcome the problem.
