I recently flashed my girlfriend's Fascinate to MIUI and she noticed that the flash does not turn on when focusing like the stock Samsung one, which kind of makes the pictures lower quality.
I was wondering if anyone could modify the camera app so flash turns on while focusing, or point me in the direction of any other camera app that would work on MIUI and has this feature.

Hi i just noticed my camera makes noises when i have it in standby. it's like the camera is trying to auto focus even though i havent started the camera app. does anyone know why this is happening?
i heard a funny clunk noise when turning on the camera app. something like that?
I'm having the exact same problem. My camera also doesn't focus when I take pics.
Have you found any solutions/causes yet?
My battery is also draining very quickly ... guessing the constant camera lens motor running could be the cause.
Do you remember if you did something specific that brought it on?
This problem just started happening to my Nexus One. Only thing I did was switch battery this morning. Gonna try to take battery out and in again.
Once this problem started, I couldn't focus with my camera anymore. I have Camera 360 Pro and the focus button does nothing.
Are you guys all running a custom ROM, like cyan for example? Or is this stock ROM?

My problem went away temporarily after I charged the phone with USB and also tapping on the lens with my finger.
I'm using SGS, and runing the Froyo.JHJP4 (Israeli Orange ROM),
One of the problems was with the camera that didn't work at first, so I installed a fix for that (GT-I9000PTRJP4_KERNEL.zip).
after that I tested the camera and discovered something very annoying:
The quality of the camera got much worse compared to the 2.1 version,
and it looks as if it's in constant "Night mode"... so the image moves slowly while moving the camera, and the images are very grained and quality is down.
I checked the settings, and everything look normal:
The night mode is OFF
and the Quality is at BEST.
Anyone familiar with this problem??
I really like this ROM and don't want to change it again, but the camera is important to me...

When i launch the camera the pictures come bright and clear and when the picture is taken and i see it in the gallery it is very dark
I am on Darkys 10.2.2 final edition and i reflashed to official jvs thinking it might solve the problem but still same thing goes dark
What could be the problem?
Also i just noticed that the lens are green??!!
My old galaxy s had red lens
This phone cant be a fake as everything works perfect and fast and no problems

The camera of my G800F (bliss MM rom) drives me mad. I constantly have freezes when switching from back to front camera and so on. I am using the camera restarter app and it helps getting the camera back to work. But that takes time. Also I experienced crazy battery drain and a heating up phone after using the camera.
Can extracting the stock camera and drivers and whatever is needed to make it work and flashing it to my phone be a solution? And if so can anyone provide a flashable zip? (Unfortunately I don't know how to do it)

The stock camera is deeply integrated with the Touchwiz ui and will not work outside of it.

Hi. As you may know, when we flash custom kernels on MIUI roms, the stock camera app starts acting weird and switching between portrait mode and normal mod become a nightmare and in some situations, camera app completely crashes with an error that says it cannot connect to the camera. For some users like me, the stock camera app is quite important because I use the telephoto lens almost every day and Gcam is not an option for me for many reasons such as lack of telephoto support or lack of 4k 60fps recording and also huge battery consumption. So I'm writing this to start a discussion that maybe leads us to a solution that users like me can also benefit from great features of custom kernels.
