Hi there,
there is a pretty cool site that is a free and very comprehensive German-English dictionary. It also offers you a possibility to download it's database which is under 5 MB. Now there are several programmes (some GPL) that run on a PC and use this database and one even is Java based but it does not run using the midlet manager.
I think it would be so great if I could get this run on my WM5. The owner of the site could post it two so that everybody can have a great free dictionary.
the site is called dict.cc (http://www.dict.cc/?l=e)
here are the links to the programme pages that use the database:
http://www.elcombri.de/html/pages/en_translator_download.htm
this one got a .jar version of the programme which does not run on WM5

Could somebody please have a look into this? Maybe it's just small coding that needs to be done.
Thanks a lot. I really appreciate it.
Alex
Getting my phone soon, and cant wait to start "geeking" whit it. but instead of starting blindly on the android market and other places to find good apps and games i decided to ask here.
What app and games do you use and recommend`?
I've had my Magic for a little while and use the following apps:
beebPlayer - Similar to BBC iPlayer
Glance - File Manager
gTraffic - UK Traffic Reports
Flixster - Movie Listings & Cinema Times
Quickpedia - Mobile version of Wikipedia
Qype - Find shops etc that are nearby
SMS Popup - Pops up your SMS when received
Twidroid - Twitter Client
Youtube - Youtube player
There's lots out there, you'll spend ages on the Market!
appmanager
weatherbug
anycut
beebplayer - as mentioned above
ebay
ebuddy - multi IM app, stopped using as it disconnects too often
IM+ lite - multi IM app, also disconencts but seems better than ebuddy
flashlight - all in the name
ebay
newsrob - rss reader that syncs with outlook reader
opera mini - find it better than the installed browser, shame it can't be made default
shazam - to recognise music tracks
shopsavvy - scans prouct barcodes to find you better deals
skype
youtube
touchdown - push email/calendar/contacts app
places directory - uses gps to tell you what places are around you and gives reviews & directions (e.g. restaurants, cinemas, banks etc)
You specifically asked about games so my recommendation is "Bonsai Blast", spent ages on that!
labyrinth FULL 2.99
Bonsai blast FREE
Prince of persia 99p
Shazam FREE
Bacgrounds FREE
Imeem mobile FREE
Toggle buttons (for wifi bluetooth etc) FREE
Taskiller (task manager) FREE
These are the apps i use
Anyone know any emulators (snes gba etc) that work with magic or g2 with no hardware keyboard
Anyone now of a good/bether picture frame app?
I'm guessing we'll need to wait till the hero gets an emulator for snes and such. There's multi touch in that system, so it'll no doubt be exploited. Then it should be possible to use it on the Hero Rom.
Caid.

I was also curious as I am considering the Tmo My Touch...I have a bunch of M$ apps from my wizard, and in the spec reports on the My Touch it says it syncs with M$...so does this mean I will be able to use my M$ games like Insaniquarium on the My Touch???
To be honest, knowing a yes or no to this question will be a make it or break it thing, so the most details you can provide would be of great help to me in deciding whether to get the My Touch or just buy a used Kaiser.
Thanks in advance!

Seriously?
No. It is android, not windows mobile. So you won`t be able to use windows apps on it.
It syncs with Microsoft Exchange, so you can use e-mail and calendar from your business.

Does anyone know if there is any kind of Music ID software floating around that does not charge a monthly fee/anything?
Thanks for the help!

He removed that link because Shazam is not freeware, downloading midomi and giving it a try.

Midomi Great Free Alternative to Shazam
Midomi is awesome, free, and seems to work faster than the Shazam program that came on the stock ROM. So if anyone is looking for an alternative go to the link above and give it a try.

Hi guys
I tried Omnia B7610 today and realised there is Google Map installed in the phone. My friend claimed it was pre-installed.
How can I find this Google Map app to install in i8000?
I went to Google but it stated that i8000 is not supported and have to use internet style instead.
Kind bro.... Pls advice.
Rgds
it should be preinstalled or at least the cab should be on your I8000 as default.
if not, you can get a copy on google @
xyz.google.com/mobile/maps/ ( sorry your going to have to mod that addresse as i cant put the link in directly being a noob here . take the XYZ out lol )
id go for the newer version as it suports now the internal GPS. the preinstalled google maps is ok but not as complete.
cheers.
You can just point your mobile web browser (other than built in explorer) to m.google.com and select maps.
For Google Maps install cab and others to;
- Go to Start -> Smart Search
- Select Web tab
you will see various cabs availalbe to install from both Google and Bing.
Hey.
I had the same problem. But I seriously just googled Google Maps App I8000 and took the first hit to download the app.
I didn't find the preinstalled version or the .cab on my phone, but if it doesn't support the internal GPS anyway it's good a got a newer version.
Very helpful stuff, thanks. I googled it but wasn't sure how to get working on my Omnia
Alright,
This is running windows ce7 but its not actually a phone, its a RF unit. But i need to install Java on it.. Any way of doing that?
Also,
What is a good browser to use? internet explorer sucks... I do not have an app store so if you could provide me with the file i can just simply drag into the application folder ID appreciate it
THANKS
You'd do better to ask in the WP7 forum (does anybody hang out there anymore?) as WP8 uses the NT kernel and has very different structure from CE-based devices. It's also not binary-compatible with them.
Opera is the go-to non-IE browser for most mobile devices that don't run Android, iOS, or (a descendant of) Maemo. Pretty sure Opera Mobile is available for CE still, but I haven't paid any attention to that OS family recently.
Thanks for the response.. I'll continue looking... I hate this OS but its all we really have to work with right now :crying:
