Well, im on an Apex 8.2 GB rom... My question is, what exactly should i do before i send my phone in for repairs?
Im thinking that i should downgrade to a stock 2.2 rogers... is there anything else I should do? Or should i bring it to 2.1? Im really not sure, please let me know! Thanks!
What was on the phone when you bought it? Go with that. TRusselo has a thread with i896 stock roms somewhere in dev forum.
Just use odin one click back to stock. Doesn't matter 2.1 or 2.2.

Here ya go...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=979133&highlight=rogers+stock [STOCK ROMS] i896 Rogers 2.1 and 2.2 Warranty ROM Remove ATT boot, no dbdata error!!
Thanks to nzahorchak and TRusselo for this.
How would an ATT captivate user get back to full stock? As in the most recently released ATT stock firmware? I think it's KB1? I can't seem to find it. I'd rather not go back to 2.1 and have to update via kies mini.

Not true. Odin works regardless of what firmware you're running. If you want to go back to stock JF6, Odin is your application of choice.
Odin back to JF6 is a MUST if you're going to start flashing ROM's...it'll become one of your closest friends, along with ROM Manager and TiBu...
Odin has saved my Galaxy S numerous times in the past few months. I swear by it.
Hey so im needing to reverse this gingerbread jvb to test something. I flashed the bootloaders so will one click odin get me back safely with the original bootloaders?

Look at this thread and see the section "Gingerbread update and how to go back to stock safely"
Short answer: Yes, Odin3 One-Click will restore the bootloaders. Be careful.
Lol yeah i went ahead and chanced it. I flashed sense fori9000 just to test it out but im back on GB again.

Use Odin one click NOTHING ELSE. Googled for it last night. Top result was a captivate thread. Went back to 2.1, then did one click root and when I got to cwm I installed cognition rom. So much smoother! Ill wait for official GB whenever that may be.
Hi,
Is it possible to upgrade with the recently leaked European Gingerbread 2.3.4 image to the Bell's Vibrant I9000M?
I'm currently running Froyo 2.2, firmware UGKC1. Have downloaded the official 2.3.4 from samfirmware.com and already rooted and unlocked my phone.

It is... i would suggest going this route instead of through the one from samfirmware.
I use darky's ROM. I upgraded to 10.1 (it is 2.3.3), then recently upgraded via CWM to Dark Core 2.7.3 (which has the 2.3.4 GB firmware). Beware that the core is beta at this time, and so far in 2 days i haven't had any real issues on my phone.
www.darkyrom.com, then check the forums.
We are quite in Sync. Co-incidentally I upgraded to Darky's ROM(10.1) about an hour back. I'll give a try to the Beta now. Pls do share your experience with the beta overtime.
Thanx

So far so good... other than my battery. Although i do have a momax 2700mah battery, it only lasted 30ish hours before it died... including using superpower to manage night time usage. I should be getting more than that with this battery (and i have done the reconditioning with the battery since i got it).
Even with 10.1 i got a day and a half or so... but the half day doesn't work for me as i need it for a full day.
Now that i've done one round of recondition on my battery, i'm anxious to see how good the battery will last now.
10.1 works with the JVP kernel fine (at least some of the features for it). I had to upgrade gtalk to the video talk version myself though (although i'm sure it'll be included in the next darkyrom).
Let me know what you think of it...
Hey guys i am also on the I9000M through bell and would love to get the gingerbread on here but the last time i tried i couldnt connect to my 3g for wireless and i couldnt call out or recieve calls please tell me the guide you used because man that gingerbread was fast and smooth.
Right now heres what my phone status is
Model number GT I9000M
Firmware version 2.2
Baseband version I9000UGKC1
Kernel version 2.6.32.9
[email protected] #4
Build number FROYO UGKC1
Thanks in advance for any help
ps my phone is already rooted
you can get gingerbread, but you need to take the extra step of flashing the kc1 modem, or do the 850 band tweak on a euro modem

I could say after if you using Odin.
But before starting ask yourself what do you really want....
Just the 2.3.4 stock or a custom rom (like Darky's), rooted?, Aply a new theme?

FUUUUUUU
I thought there might a reason why that particular instruction was removed from all the threads. Dang it.
Is there any advantage to running CM7 on the GB bootloader? Or should I just leave my phone as it is?

What is the advantage of Gingerbread bootloaders?
Better battery life for most users.
I would definitely recommend upgrading to Gingerbread bootloaders on CM7. There was a noitceable improvement for me.

Yeah, but I need one to return for Warranty, so a debloated, and deodexed probably wouldn't work.
If its for warranty why do you need kk4? What I man is you just have to have it on an official build for what ever it came with.

Yes, but I am not on an official build. I am on a custom KK4 rom that is rooted and debloated, which is not stock.

There is a one click to stock kk4 that repartitions and everything somewhere around here, I am on my phone right now so I can't find and link it.
Nvm I found it, it was in the stickies imagine that lol. Its towards the bottom, it says full kk4 full wipe repartition, they got a boot loader and a non boot loader one. I use this package and it works great. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1300843
