Hey guys
I have a mate whose SGS i9000T will no longer turn on, it is about 5 months old, battery is fine and just died while the screen was off, was not even being used. The last app used was browser. Can't get into Recovery or download modes and the backlight doesn't even register while the AC is plugged in.
Any suggestions would be great or is this a hardware fault? which too me it sounds like
Theirs two possible reasons for this bud....1, custom firmware incorrectly flashed. 2, hardware. I had the same problem and I had to send mine off to Samsung, if you blame the damage on Kies, say after the update it wouldn't turn on they will fix it for free.

Cheers for the reply,
The only things applied were a lag fix that was weeks ago though so i doubt that is the problem, sounds like hardware problem then

No custom kernel or anything? And it just died? Does he tend to drop his phone a lot?

In that case I'd put it down to hardware bud! Are you in the UK? as we have dozens of Samsung service centres, just blame it on Kies if I were you, say after the update it wouldn't turn back on, and they'll fix it for nothing bud

Always flickers when I turn wifi on mate, always has.
I find battery to be good on mintberry, but it really depends on your kernel and modem.... Give it a try, i guarantee you won't be disappointed.

Sounds defective. How long have you had it? I've had mine since release week and haven't experienced those issues once. I'm rooted, but still on factory stock.
May want to return it for another

I'm going to do that today, but I don't know what is worst the phone or Tmobile customer service reps, anybody else notice how much more uneducated they have gotten about the product line they are there to help with?!?

i have only back cover from phone, no additional cover
yeah remove that as well and make a call
If it's not hardware related as nokiamodeln91 is figuring out, try a different modem:

Well I think initially choose a newer one, they've made improvements step by step, hopefully you just had a bad flash. Work it from there.

Hello! Frist of all, I want to say that I'm new and I just learned this page from Google when I searched for a situation like mine.
I have Samsung Galaxy S Advance.
Back in January, when the new Russian firmware came out, I updated my phone via odin, successfully.
Yesterday, I updated again with the newer Italian firmware successfully. I reset it in order to work better and then I reinstalled the apps that I wanted. (I reset it becasue I have many apps that I didn't want)
Anyway, the phone worked fine for almost 24 hours. When my phone turned off 'cause of the battery, I charged it and then I turned it on fine.
The next morning I unplagged it from the charger and it was fine.
After half an hour that I wanted to call someone, it didn't work. I was pressing thw power button all over again and nothing.
I tried to put it on download mode etc. and nothing with none of them.
I seems to me dead.
I read stuff you said to other people about up volume, down etc. I tried everything, but nothing.
Is there anything else that I can do?
Please help me.
Italian firmware or Indian? there is no Italian jb firmware as of now...

Can it be fixed?
Here it is 21:24 so tommorow at about 14:00 I'll take it to the store I bought it...
Can they understand that I updated it?
What happens wen u have connect it to charger... If u can see the big battery icon then its nt dead. It might be just 0%charge

i think they can,but just say the phone died and nothing else..even if they get to know, as this is the stock firmware from Samsung, your warranty still holds good..that is not a problem..

it doesn't void your warranty as long as it is a stock firmware..

The phone does absolutely nothing. I tried to charge it for about an hour, nothing appeared. I tried to connect it with PC, nothing happened.
The warranty says that it covers me only in Europe... So, now that I have installed an Asia firmware, I don't think that it covers me.
For some reason, although I bought from a Greek Store (I'm Greek) but the firmware it is Europe one and not the Greek One. The same thing says at the box too.
Oh, I don't know...
Bad lack maybe. They stole my iPhone 4S, my SE X10 broke and now that. And all that from January to April...

talk about bad luck man.. phew.. take it to the store tomorrow.. act dumb and say you don't know what the hell happened..hope for the best..
and your warranty is not void as long as it is the stock firmware. that is certain. i had this doubt too when i flashed the Russian firmware.. one of the Devs here told me that it doesn't void the warranty..

Go to the service centre and try convincing them it happened suddenly while charging or while upgrading it with KIES.
I mean try to fool them.
do let us know what happens..

Oh, it doesn't matter!
I tried to give thanks in every post but then I see that there is a limit!
My phone died, I'm not gonna die! (I just wanna hit someone )
Is this a problem or just a natural happening?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
This is natural because the note does not have a battery backup for the clock. But set your date/time to update to network it will always set itself.
Sent from my GT-I9082 using xda app-developers app
Its a common issue buddy!
Happens with most of the phones. If the battery is removed from the phone beyond a few seconds, the cell tends to lose date/time data.
But as bongski55 suggested, you can turn on the update date/time in clock settings to always have the current time updated in your system!
Thanks for the info.

Click :good: ('THANKS') button if my answer helps.

If your assumption is correct, then why in the beginning this issue was not there for about one year after purchase?

I don't know. But date and time was never an issue for me. If I set it to network time it always stays ok.

This issue will not happen on a brand new phone until the phone is a year plus onwards. It happens to all phone.
