Clock Always Resets After Removing Battery - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is this a problem or just a natural happening?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app

This is natural because the note does not have a battery backup for the clock. But set your date/time to update to network it will always set itself.

Its a common issue buddy!
Happens with most of the phones. If the battery is removed from the phone beyond a few seconds, the cell tends to lose date/time data.
But as bongski55 suggested, you can turn on the update date/time in clock settings to always have the current time updated in your system!

Thanks for the info.

Click :good: ('THANKS') button if my answer helps.
Its much easier than posting a 'thank you' post!

If your assumption is correct, then why in the beginning this issue was not there for about one year after purchase?

I don't know. But date and time was never an issue for me. If I set it to network time it always stays ok.

This issue will not happen on a brand new phone until the phone is a year plus onwards. It happens to all phone.

[Q] Won't turn on

Hey guys
I have a mate whose SGS i9000T will no longer turn on, it is about 5 months old, battery is fine and just died while the screen was off, was not even being used. The last app used was browser. Can't get into Recovery or download modes and the backlight doesn't even register while the AC is plugged in.
Any suggestions would be great or is this a hardware fault? which too me it sounds like
Theirs two possible reasons for this bud....1, custom firmware incorrectly flashed. 2, hardware. I had the same problem and I had to send mine off to Samsung, if you blame the damage on Kies, say after the update it wouldn't turn on they will fix it for free.

Cheers for the reply,
The only things applied were a lag fix that was weeks ago though so i doubt that is the problem, sounds like hardware problem then

No custom kernel or anything? And it just died? Does he tend to drop his phone a lot?

In that case I'd put it down to hardware bud! Are you in the UK? as we have dozens of Samsung service centres, just blame it on Kies if I were you, say after the update it wouldn't turn back on, and they'll fix it for nothing bud

Why does the clock go crazy randomly.

My clock says it's 7:42 right now eastern time. I don't understand why this happen so much.

First off, are you in EST?
Second, what have you got under your Date & Time settings?
Mine has done the same thing. I'm in the EST zone. I finally set the clock manually as opposed to carrier time.
Mine did the same thing last night. It was 10:30 pm and my time was showing 6:30. My Whatsapp outgoing had the wrong timestamp but incoming was good. I had to restart to fix t.
Mine is doing the same thing?

I've noticed this when the phone goes into roaming.....
I've taken off the "network provided" time and date and I haven't had the issue since

I wasn't implying you weren't "familiar", but it's not like anyone on this board is telepathic; if we don't have information, it's not easy to help.
I'd advise taking the phone off of network time, changing the time manually, and then (optionally) re-enabling network time. For one reason or another, the automatic settings sometimes just decide to screw up-- and badly.

The only fix I know for this problem is the eBay solution. Buy a new battery.

Thanks,
I just thought there might be something like that freezer trick that could work. Your help was appreciated.

Notisync

I found this app though a bunch of searching. (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mattprecious.notisync)
I think it is close to getting us to seeing notifications from any app on the gear. So, far with things set up the way I have them it only vibrates/rings when I get something. It could be that I don't have hangouts installed on my watch (didn't want the google apps...didn't see a need).
Could someone with the google apps (and possibly the status bar installed via Aroma) test this out and see if it gets us further?
Only other thread I could find: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2560308 It mentions battery life issues. I'll test these out tomorrow.
Overnight the watch went down to 87% battery. I may try again tonight without it justvto see.
I can choose to get notifications on my gear from all of my phone apps without this.
Am I not understanding something with this thread?
I think I'm a bit lost here too. I can get notifications from any app on my phone without this app.

I wouldn't say badly. I'm able to spend an entire day at Disneyland (about 16 hours) getting/checking notifications using this and still have enough battery power for the 1 1/2 hour ride home. Sure you would get better battery life without it - but you would also get no notifications (non-touchwiz) without it too.
