i was wondering if our X8 has mobile GPRS. i cannot connect to the net unless i turn on wifi.
Lol it is capable of GPRS, EDGE and HSDPA, but you have to pay for it at your provider.

Wifi take priority over GPRS.
either you use Wifi or GPRS but not at the same time.
Try this, turn on GPRS first, then turn on Wifi. X8 will automatically disable GPRS.
Wifi is not chargeable while GPRS is chargeable (and slower).

every time i try to go to my shared folders on my pc (local network) my htc is trying to enable 3g or gprs connection. it looks like i can't browse my local network using wifi but internet works great.

I don't know if the upgrade from WM6 to WM61 is the cause of my problem but I have noticed it after the upgrade.
Using my TyTN II on the road I have a connection with Vodafone GPRS.
If I switched the WiFi on at home the device automatically contected to my wireless router and the GPRS connection was disconnected.
After switching of the WiFi the GPRS connected again.
So, no use of GPRS data when connected to WiFi.
Now the GPRS connection doen not disconnect anymore when switching on the WiFi and having connecting to my router.
So, even with WiFi the GPRS data is used.
I need to switch of GPRS to use WiFi.
How it comes?

using the comm manager under settings. disable 3g and turn on wifi.
I will be traveling, and want to turn OFF my Internet so i dont incur roaming charges... is there a way to keep phone on, turn off internet and use wifi only? also, is there way that when wifi is connected, the 3g or edge wont turn on? only when connected to wifi.. not when wifi present. thanks!

Is it possible to make my HTC diamond attempt to connect to the internet through my Home WiFi connection before it connects via 3G.
Basically I want WiFi to be default and only to use 3G whilst i'm roaming about.

If you turn your wifi on and set it up for your home network. then as long as the wifi is still on, it defaults to using that first. If your not at home just shut the wifi off
It's not perfect, but I haven't seen any other methods out there.

I have question about WiFi. Every time I turn off display (or turn off itself automaticaly), it disconnect from network but when I´m on ICQ then I cant recieve any message. Is possible to be connected permanently?

Wifi tethering means turn your device into a portable hotspot.. it lets you Pc, laptop an other device to connect to web via WiFi over the internet connection on your phone..
So.. you can't get free 3g internet by wifi tethering

instead you will have to pay for the data charge if you haven't enabled any plan
but with wifi you can get free internet but some wifi hotspots must be there to use wifi
