[Q] Open recovery/Volume rocker - Motorola Droid and Milestone General

So I can't boot into open recovery because my Volume rocker up button on my milestone is broke... I wanna get this miui rom off my milestone cause its laggy as crap and its driving me insane. Any work arounds for this? I've tried clockwork recovery with rom manager but it just boots into the triangle with the red exclamation mark in the middle and the bar loads halfway then it errors out and reboots into the miui rom. Anyone have any ideas?

First of all, uninstall ROM Manager. It does not work on Milestone.
As for your problem with volume rocker being broken: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=796679&page=26

Thanks man, Yeah I finally read last night that Rom Manager doesn't work on it. I'll let you know If I have any problems. Thanks for being Kind Enough to Reply.
Okay I did what you said and it worked but when i reboot the system it just gets stuck on the motorola m logo.
Nevermind, I cleared data and factory reset while in Open Recovery and it seemed to fix the issue.

[Q] Can't enter recovery mode

hey guys,
as i already wrote i got an issue with my milestone and its recovery mode. Today afternoon i decided to flash a vulnerable recovery on my phone and then try G.O.T. open recovery out for the first time. After flashing the vulnerable recovery I tried to enter recovery mode by pressing camera button while pressing power button and then (when the triangle appears) the camera button with the volume up button (the way its always done to get there). This worked out pretty well and i was able to do a nandroid backup, root my phone and install the G.O.T. theme (just to try sth out). Later i wanted to flash a custom rom to my milestone, but since then i couldnt even enter recovery mode, i'm always stuck at the point where the triangle appears. I pressed camera+volume up for 2 min and nothing happened, even entering "su" and "reboot recovery" from a terminal app didn't work. everything else is working fine, could somebody explain me what i'm doing wrong or how to fix this? thanks a lot in advance!
EDIT: Ok, i'm really sorry for causing any inconvenience, i figured my mistake out by accident. i pressed camera + power, released both when the triangle showed up and pressed camera and then volume up, while it should be the other way around i guess, cuz now it worked out fine...
got same problem, stuck on triangle and no reaction on volumeUP + camera…
bump
Is this for the milestone or the vzw droid they have different systems. i know for the droid its power + X for 10 sec while the M logo is up. Im sorry im not to familiar with the milestone A853

Curious CWM problem

Right so the problem is thus, I am running MIUI 1.9.23 and used rom manager to install CWM. I was then able to boot to CWM from rom manager but if I turn my phone off and try and boot by holding vol down and power the phone will show the S/W updating standard LG recovery.
Now this wouldn't be a problem but I regularly mess round with my phone and it means that if i am unable to boot to my ROM then I can't boot to recovery and I have to reflash the stock ROM with smartflash. This all seems rather counter-intuitive.
Anyone know how i can rectify the situation?
You're doing it wrong
Hold both power and volume till the blue LG logo appears.
Ahh man that was dumb, I'm coming from the desire where you can release everything pretty much immediately. Cheers
Ahaha... Before I did something worse..
I hold it until the menu appeared, then I release, and rebooted!
(because "Reboot" is the first upper menu )

[Q] Miui Boot Animation Loop

Hello, I have successfully rooted my N1 and download rom manager to install Miui rom. After the install my phone rebooted...Seen the X for a long time then Miui logo appeared...and it keep playing over and over again with the same annoying song.
I searched all over the site. I did try to hold the volume and power button and go on restore. Clockwork appear and I click wipe all data/ factory reset and The logo of Clockwork appear.. and nothing else happen.. and stay there for ever. If i press any button it go back to the Clockwork menu.
I'm completely lost..I so confused that only thing I want is to get back to what I was before the root...
Thanks in advance...
Just read the restore guides.
Fixed. Thanks.

[Q] Captivate on CM9 stuck in boot loop, power button broken

Anybody up for a challenge? My phone has only given me problems the past several months, and now it's currently stuck in a boot loop on Team Hacksung's CM9 Build 16. Apparently restarting my phone was a bad idea, as that's all I did to set off this new problem. The best part of my situation: The power button is broken, it has been for a couple months now. I remapped my volume keys to wake/unlock my phone, and the search/magnifying glass would lock it.
Here's what my phone can do at the moment: It can turn on, get to the AT&T screen, and get stuck in the ICS boot animation. It can charge with that green battery icon and the five dots below it. I was also able to get it into recovery (once), but I can't select anything because my power button is broken.
When it started giving me this issue last night, I just let it run until the battery died this morning. It didn't help. I'd love to have a somewhat usable phone again, does anybody have any idea on what I can do here?
EDIT: I accidentally got it into download mode somehow, so that must be a good thing.
get a jig.
Hi! My power button is broken as well, but I found out while I was flahsing a ROM recently that I could use the home key in CWM recovery as if it was the power key!
Maybe try that!
If it works, I suggest Factory Data Reset, wipe cache and dalvik cache, and reflash your ROM. Then reboot recovery and flash it again.
After you flash it the second time fix permissions and then reboot and see if that fixes it.

[SOLVED] CM10.1, forgot to reset, bricked my phone?

Hey guys,
due to being fed up with Sense I installed the latest CM10.1 nightly build for the HTC ONE with clockworkmodtouch recovery and now my phone seems to be bricked.
I pushed the rom on the device via adb sideload which went without a problem. Then I rebooted without wiping everything, which I simply forgot (I know...). Then the CM logo animation started and didn't stop until the battery was fully drained. After charging the battery and starting the phone, it goes to the HTC logo with the red warning text, and then directly to the CM logo again. I can't get into the bootloader via power+vol up or power+vol down, and once the phone is running I can't even hardware reset it via those keys. The soft keys' illumination just starts blinking.
Maybe someone has had a similar problem and can point me in the right direction. I can't access the phone via adb btw.
TL;DR:
Installed CM10.1 with cwmt recovery via adb sideload
Forgot to wipe everything before rebooting
Phone stuck in CM start animation
Hardware keys don't seem to do anything (soft keys blink), even if I hold them for over a minute
adb devices or anything like that doesn't work
Any help would be appreciated

are you sure your holding down the power button for long enough? the softkeys will blink until the phone has reset itself. takes around 10-15 seconds.

Yeah, I tried holding them for over a minute already. No luck.
if you can get to the cm logo you should be able to plug the phone in and reboot to recovery with adb
adb reboot recovery.

How can I get into recovery if the hardware buttons don't seem work (except to turn the phone on)?
That happened to me flashing a ROM. I went into recovery and wiped cache and davlik. Then it just takes time finding the right restore.

Power on with vol down pressed. Wait for boot loader. Connect usb. Wait for phone to say fastboot usb.
Fastboot erase cache
from computer command prompt then
Fastboot reboot recovery

Like I said in my OP, I'm not able to enter recovery. If I press power+vol up for a minute or so, the phone boots AFTER I let go of the buttons. Then it goes to the HTC logo, 5 secs later to the animated CM logo, which will rotate until the battery is dead.

Alright, I got into the bootloader now! A big thanks. I feel like an idiot. The problem was that I let go of both the buttons simultaneously, like it says in almost every tutorial. Now that I kept the vol down button pressed it worked. Thanks man.
I don't understand how you can get to the loading screen but not the recovery. That sounds strange. I've been stuck in a boot loop before. I took my battery out, put it in, held the buttons, then it should work fine. I can't understand how it won't go into recovery unless you really messed up.

Idk if it's the same for all phones, but when you go to recovery or the new ROM menu, it has little blue writing on the top left that says where you are going. I.e… recovery
