first, i think you need to use a jvq whit bootloaders. are you tried clean flash ?. three files whit repartition and pit file ?
Try another Odin if you aren't getting a progress bar. I recomend ezodin and it seems to work for some people. I had one version of odin that just never worked.
yeh i tried flashing a JVQ rom with the phone, CSC and PIT file but nothing happens :S how do i flash the booltloaders with it?

use the EZ method, search for EZBase / EZROM / EZOdin. (the EZROM contains all the bootloaders and everything you will need)
Very user friendly and really simple but soooo effective.
I dont know who the maker of it is, But if i did i would give him a huge thanks, he saved my ass many times

Well, are you sure you used Odin 1.3 (that's the one who always worked for me, even on windows 7 64 bits), run it in administrator mode (not sure if it helps), and saw that your SGS was connected in Odin when you plug it in ?
I was using odin 1.85

Here's a link. Not sure if there's a newer version (just had this one handy, in a bit of a rush). It'll unbrick your phone anyway

Well, glad you succeeded with ezodin...
But just to let you know, I think that it didn't work because you used odin 1.85.
Same problem happened to me one time with 1.85 (not recognizing my phone) so I came back to 1.3.
Odin 1.3 always works with firmwares from samfirmware.com

Hi everyone I know that should not post here my problem, but I really don't know what to do.
Yestarday I bought a samsung galaxy s at second hand, was cheaper.
I noticed that he has android 2.2.1 and firmware JPU but is really slow and do a lot of lag.
So I rooted with odim and after that I tryed to upgrade the firmware but I haven't succeded so I decided to do a factoy reset.
I don't have clockworkmod installed,I did it from the settings.
the phone has reboted he showed me the galaxy s logo after that the screen became black and is constantly vribrate.
I waited for 20 minutes but nothing happed,so I removed the battery an then I reputed and he did in same way...plase help me I don't know what to do I hope that I haven't brick my phone...
I'm sorry for my bad english and because I opened a topic here, but I don't know what else to do.
help me please
Go into recovery & wipe.
Do you have working download?
i have just did it and he reacted in same way
Try to wipe dalvik-cache.
you said something about download, what do you mean?
Don't flash until you know what you're doing... biggest mistake i've witnessed in the past 5yrs. You literally have to read up. It's not bricked, reflash it with odin with your stock rom and call it a day.
Dude means download mode.. 3 button setting for Download mode of course, we figure if you've got the time to flash, you've got the time to read for 5 mins

Search the STOCK ROM thread in the general section.

where am I suppose to search for the stock rom?

Can some one tell him the correct PIT file? I think its 512.
so I entered that link I registred on that site and now I downloading the PIT file for europe the JPY is the latest.
So I just put it on the odin without extract him?
should I tick the repartition on odin?
thx for your patience
NO PIT NO PARTION, right?
I don't have to put PIT file?
the rar archieve that I'm downloading, where should i put it.on PDA,PHONE or CSC?
I'm a noob...I'm almost close to make it work, all you have to tell me if I have to extract the content of archieve and where should i put it in odin.
I promise that this is the last thing I ask you.
thank you

Hey guys, i just screwed up my galaxy s using odin. I was trying to upgrade my firmware from 2.2 to 2.2.1(in fact I recently upgraded from 2.1 to 2.2) when my phone went dead.
Now that i turn it on by holding down vol-up + home + power, all i get is this message:
RST_STAT =0x1
PMIC_IRQ1 =0x3c
PMIC_IRQ2 =0x0
PMIC_IRQ3 =0x0
PMIC_IRQ4 =0x0
PMIC_STATUS1 =0xc0
PMIC_STATUS2 =ox2c

I would appreciate your help and time spent in giving me some tips or better yet solutions to solve this issue. Thanks.
More info: Any customization ie. rooted, lagfixed, custom roms?
I used s1_odin_20100512.pit after that my phone turned off giving me the messages i just explained.
Not that familiar with 2.2.1, but I would make the assertion that you should not be using PIT files to ROM flash unless you need to change the partitions. You should be using PDA files. You will probably need to search for the proper PIT and PDA files for stock 2.1 or 2.2 and flash those. Are you able to see the phone via ODIN?
Exactly what kind of phone do you have. Is it a captivate or I9000?

search odin 1 click
and go back to stock
you should still be able to get to DL mode
It doesn't even load on odin nor my computer can recognize the device.
i have a captivate I9000. I think the problem should have caused it that when i started odin i clicked the re-partition box.

Ok well the captivate is not an i9000 it is an i897, so you are in the wrong place. Also might be why if you used odin files set for the wrong device. I would look into getting a jig.
it is an i897. However, after upgrading to 2.2 and rebooting the phone, i would see a screen saying that it was an i9000. So what you think is that i installed the wrong adin files? great!!
what does a jig would do to my phone?

How did you update to 2.2? if you used the new update you would not have gotten and i9000 screen unless it is a custom rom, A jig will force it into download mode.
If you can get a jig to get you into d/l mode, check out this thread to get you back to normal.
I'm sure you can find some sources for the jig in this thread, but if you prefer to try to make one, yourself, look here.
This may be a handy thread for you, too.
I got the update from Samsung Kies. I got that screen after rooting my phone.
i did three things: update from 2.1 to 2.2, root my phone, and attempted to upgrade to 2.2.1.
The third thing i did messed up my phone.
I will try getting a jig and see what happens. I hope it works fine again.

Ok if Keis updated your phone to 2.2 with the i9000 screen then you dont have a i897 captivate. you have the i9000. mainly sense there is no keis upgrade for 2.2.1 for the captivate.
I was using odin to update to 2.2.1 and ended up bricking my phone!!
I had to use PDA instead of PIT as you said previously!!
Thanks!! there is also a tuturial about how to do a jig here

Ok then there is no way Keis updated you to the 2.2 with the i9000 screen, that comes from a custom rom. Get a jig and boot into download mode, if all the other methods have failed and flash back to stock with odin. Oh and all the 2.2.1 roms are custom roms normally used with CWM flashes. Might need to do a little be of research and spend a few hours reading up to make sure this doesnt happen again.
Thank you SO MUCH!!! I really appreciate the time you spent helping me.
And yeah i will do that definitely, that's the moral of the story.
Again, THANK YOU!
Ok I was trying to flash new rom...so I flashed to stock...but after the process finished in Odin...and it showed Reset....my phone should have rebooted right? But it didnt reboot...just got dead...I removed everything and tried to start it no use...even used jig...but its no responsive...I am not panicked (as it was my experimentation phone)...but trying to find what to do in that case...battery was full too....
2.1 / 2.2 / old bootloaders.
I need them AND in an odin flashable tar.
not because i screwed my phone!
I need them for my Rogers stock rom thread!
now with odin 1.82 we can flash the boot loaders seprately (link in thread if needed)
so if i had them, i could ADD them to my stock rom thread . I would be able to have them flash the bootloaders then the rom.
as far as i can tell they are not in my stock roms already
thank you guys!
Check the thread for odin with the three button fix I'm pretty sure everything is broken up into individual pieces for flashing with odin and maybe what you want is in there.

@ mr - 3 button doesnt, thats why ginger people must flash ODIN one click FIRST, then see if 3 button works, THEN flash 3button fix if needed. Only odin one click has bootloaders.... At the moment....
@ pirate - thank you for that but i wouldnt know what to look for inside the firmware. Im still learning, if i knew what i was looking for exactly, i would have it already.... LOL.
kinda why i was asking for help....

just redownloaded jh2, jh3, jh7 tar files. no boot loaders, but seems like every froyo i9000 rom has bootloaders in the tar files.
the files you are looking for are:
boot.bin
sbl.bin
nearly every one of designgears' roms has sbl.bin so you can pull that from the 3button fix or one of his roms.
according to another post by mccord, reposted from the i9000 forums, it looks like you need to flash a 2.2 froyo rom with bootloaders in order to recovery.
odin one click worked for mine, i just tested, but its also a model 1007, its never failed me
according to the continuum how-to (for one reference)
the 3button fix doenst have boot loaders and must flash one-click to snag it's bootloaders first.
and we all know we cant get them from one click
Ill keep looking myself but i would appreciate help as well
either way, once i have those 2 files, do i just tar them? or is there a proper way to package them to flash in odin "bootloader" box? (new feature in 1.81 and up). just like cwm zips need instruction meta data? or no? ive never done odin files.... or just tar them up and flash with pda box? or?
screw it lets find them first.....

this is false. it contains the SECONDARY bootloader, but not the primary
you can also get the sbl.bin (the secondary bootloader) from AIO captivate toolbox
i am hunting down the boot.bin (primary) right now.
ahh... right... i was half wrong... i was tired last night.
but thanks man!
Hello all,
During my travels in China, I picked up a GT-I9228G galaxy note.
Back in the UK now, and hoping I could change the rom to the english varient of GT-N7000? I am assuming GT-I9228G and GT-N7000 is the same device, just different regional roms(?).
The boot screen is chinese. It has chinese apps on it which I cant remove and no app store amongst other things. Ideally, would like to make the phone all english. Is this possible?
Just a bit of background on me:
I used to own a HTC PDA which I swap roms from developers here and very familair with jail breaking on apple products. Andriod however is new to me. I am a quick learner, so any pointers would be great please guys/gals.

I guess you could... Lots of other people bought their galaxy note from Hong Kong and also from china and they all changed their ROM for a same reason of yours.
Does not the 9220 using a snapdragons and not exynos? I not sure but I thing I have read it somewhere so carefully before flashing.

So, potentially I could just change to the one below?
N7000XXKKA ## 2.3.6 2011 November N7000CPWKK3 United Kingdom (Carphone Warehouse) Download
The box says 1.4 + <insert chinese characters here>
From wiki -A dual-core 1.4Ghz Exynos processor or a 1.5 Ghz Snapdragon S3 processor (AT&T, SK Telecom, KT, LG U+)
So my guess is Exynos. Anyway to double check?
ok, so I have downloaded the above rom and Odin3 v1.83 from sammobile.
I have opened Odin3 and specified the PIT file (Q1_20110914_16GB)
I have also ticket re-partition, auto reboot and F.reset timer.
I have loaded the rom under PDA (N7000XXKKA_N7000CPWKK3_N7000XXKK5_HOME.tar), everything else is unticked.
I have the phone in download mode ready.
I just need to know if the above is ok or am I missing anything before I click START and brick my phone?
Thanks,
Chris.
well I tried anyway.
That didnt work.
Now the phone says "software update fail"
I can still get into download mode, buts thats about it.
tried with and without the PIT file.
Anyone know what I should do now please?
I'd say you'll have to find a rom for that model
maybe http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&t=1&o=1&m=GT-I9220&r=2#regiona
You might have bricked your phone by checking repartition in odin. You should not have. Now you probably need to find a pit file for your model.

If you could enter download mode then try these steps
1. Open Odin and flash Pit file only and Re-partition ticked. (do not attach any ROM)
2. After this again flash ROM without pit file and re-partition un-ticked
This should work.

Thanks,
The first part seemed to work ok, so then went onto flashing again without the PIT file. Failed
Back to square one (software update fail message).
Going to try the original ROM, but takes about 6 hours to download from china!.
Ideally, really dont want to use the original ROM though! I'm guessing the original ROM isnt going to work now anyway since ODIN3 has re-partitioned the device(?).

Hey there,
I was trying to fix up a friends captivate and attempted to use the odin oneclick to restore back to stock 2.1. This was before i read that it only works on phones below 1010.
