All,
I had rooted a Captivate recently for a friend and installed CM7. After about a week, my friend decided to go back to stock. Prior to rooting, I made a backup of his stock rom just in case. I then showed him how to restore via Clockwork if need be. Tonight he came in to work and wanted to restore to stock, now he is stuck with a boot-looping Captivate. Now the phone sits at the AT&T World Phone splash screen. I've tried and tried all night to get the phone in DL mode so that I can use the One-Click ODIN restore but to no avail. I can't seem to get the phone in DL mode no matter what I try. Whenever I attempt, the phone simply reboots to the AT&T splash. Please assist if available.
P.S. When I plug the phone into any USB I get a circle (reminiscent of the Android loading spinner) in the center of the screen.
Assistance is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

thats not how clockwork backups work...those are to restore your set up to the way you had it once you flash the rom it was backed up from thats why hes looping. you would odin back to stock THEN restore and it would be like he never flashed anything at all.
build/buy a jig that'll for sure get you int download mode.
Loop
I'm getting that same loop screen. What I did was use odin to restore my captivate back to factory because the 2.2 update wouldn't allow me superuser permission. After it was back to factory I rooted with super one click. It was successful but when i went to reboot the att world screen looped.
Help please
superoneclick works fine on 2.2.........you had no reason to go back to 2.1

Hi everyone,
I am honestly at a loss. I tried to flash back to stock using Odin (not the one click) because I was having multiple problems with my custom ROM. However, after Odin did it's magic (I got the green sign with PASS) my phone rebooted into the blue screen (Samsung recovery I assume) then I hit reboot phone now, it got stuck in a reboot loop! It won't go past the Galaxy "S" logo at all, or it flashes the "S" then the screen just goes black. Fortunately, I can still enter download mode but about nothing else, not even a recovery screen or anything. I am running a Rogers Captivate 2.2 (or at least I flashed back to stock 2.2 successfully according to Odin) but I can't actually check since I am on a reboot loop.
Can anyone PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP?
Thank you so much!
Just reflash stock. Unless there is a good reason you are not using the one click odin I would use it

What's ur phone batch number? U wud be able to find under the battery in the format YY.MM
Problem solved...
Entered recovery mode, had a brain flash, reformatted internal card and wiped user data. Worked like magic. I am an idiot. Thanks for all the help though!
After several unsuccessful attemps at rooting my Captivate SGH-I897 v2.2 with Superoneclick, I decided to use Odin to get it back to factory 2.1. After it was restored to factory. I went to superoneclick and tried to root. It rooted successfully, and passed the SU test. Upon rebooting my captivate, the att world phone splash screen loops. I have no idea what happened or how to fix it. Any suggestions?

Hey,
I need some help. I got an I9000M the other day and have been doing a lot of reading towards rooting and eventually SIM-unlocking the phone.
Currently, with the chainfire root method by installing that kernel through Odin i expected that I would have had a rooted phone.
However, the flashing process was completed successfully and after it was finished, I was supposed to let my phone reboot but its stuck at the black and white galaxy s screen.
What happened?
Perhaps I installed the wrong kernel?...anyways I have no clue. Please help so I can proceed towards my goal.
*Also if I just flash an original firmware will it start me back at where I was from the beginning? That way I can figure out which CF I should have used...
Just pull the battery, 3 button into download mode (Vol Down+Home+Power) and ODIN flash to stock.
Do a little reading and make sure you have the right version.
BUT BEFORE YOU DO ANY OF THAT, pull the battery and see if it starts up. My phone always gets stuck on home screen after an Odin flash and have to battery pull to get it to load.
alright thanks, i flashed to stock and now i am going to try and figure out exactly which CF will work.
Need some help getting the phone back to stock.
I think I screwed up in Odin trying to flash the phone back to stock since it kept failing.
Right now the only thing I get is the Samsung logo then T-Mobile, where it loads to 75% then loops.
I am unable to find the phone in Odin nor get it to download mode. I am able to go into recovery (stock) but it won't let me flash anything!
Sucks because I am selling this phone and I thought it would be nice to revert it to stock, but instead I broke it.
Please help
Nevermind...got it into download mode and flashed the stock recovery via odin...it's back to stock and off to get sold.
Hi,
Okay so I have a Galaxy Ace S5830. It was rooted etc with no problems. I was just running the stock ROM (Koodo) that it came with.
Earlier I took a backup with CWM, then I used ODIN to flash a different ROM that I got from a different thread. However this ROM was not working well for me, the network connection kept winking in and out, so I wanted to go back to my stock ROM.
I got the stock firmware from SamFirmware using my model + country. I then used ODIN to flash the stock ROM.
When I boot after doing this, I go into a bootloop between the Koodo splash screen and the glowing SAMSUNG logo.
To hopefully remedy this, I used CWM to restore the backup I had taken previously.
However, when I boot after doing this, there is no loop, the phone simply sits at a screen with a black background that says Samsung GALAXY Ace GT-S5830D in white lettering. I have left it for a substantial amount of time and nothing changes.
I have read some other threads and they all suggest re-flashing stock rom with ODIN which I have done to the same result. So at this point the firmware will not fully boot, whether or not I have restored the backup.
Any help in fixing this will be appreciated! I'm stuck and I don't know what to do at this point, other than try some other firmwares.
Thanks!
Update:
Thanks to ver3go I was able to get back to stock rom + factory settings. the bootloop issue has been resolved.
HOWEVER,
when I load from the backup I made with CWM, it freezes forever at the black + white samsung galaxy ace screen.
Any solutions would be great. Though it's not a huge issue, it would be nice to not have to re-install all my apps and reconfigure my phone
