Most popular apps?

Hey, I was wondering what are the most commonly used apps/must buys? and maybe some important ones that you may list out please, I'm really new to android phones :/ and thank you!
launcher pro (adw), titanium backup * root. must have paid apps
Depends on what you want
+1 launcher pro
Games: angry birds, or a system emulator like gameboid (rom buddy. To find games )
Vlingo for voice dial
Twicca for twitter
If you are going to root your phone
Titanium backup
Rom manager
Captivate
Cog 2.2
launcher pro
beautiful widgets
gameboid
flikie wallpapers hd
hmm I know beautiful widgets and launcher pro+ cost money, but are the others free? and is launcher pro+ really that much better? and do these developers upgrade the apps too?

If you don't need the widgets on launcherpro +, then it should be fine with the normal launcherpro. There are other widget alternatives you can find elsewhere as well.
+1 for LauncherPro but also you may want to try ADWLauncher. Used it on MT3G before and it is just as good as launcherpro (diff features here and there).
+1 for angry birds, also try handcent sms. I find touiteur to be a good twitter app, but you have tons of options for that.

+1on pandora its a must on any smart phone.
Launcher pro has a free version last I checked. Only launcher pro+ is pay. But it does come with widgets that replace the samsung ones that don't work without touchwiz.
Beautiful widgets is nice bt there are free alternatives that are close but not as good.
Angry birds
Any game loft game.
Google goggles is cool but kinda useless
Barcode scanner.
Widget locker (pay)
For rooted phones.
root explorer
Rom manager
Titanium backup
Terminal emulator

Do you have to root before you can back up your phone?

I believe titanium backup requires root and you could use clockwork mod without root if you get the update.zip on the sd card and reboot to recovery.

Lockscreen

Is there anyway to change the lockscreen on the tab?
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA Premium App
Widgetlocker, theres also some other crappy ones, other than that, no.
There is one called riplle lock that looks line honeycomb locker. Search in apps section.
Sent from top of Mt. Everest using XDA App
Lock menu is my favorite app. It allows u to set up 8 things that 8 different locks take u to. It is free in market with adds. I don't get ads since I have ad free and am rooted. I use it on my tab and my epic.
Samsung Epic SyndicateROM Frozen 1.1
livelocker isnt too bad either. gets regular updates aswell.

The big launcher debate-NS edition

Well, what do YOU think is the absolute best launcher for our nexuses..?
Personally I use stock with SMS shortcut instead of browser. Discus

Big fan of Launcher Pro. Buttery smooth with some nice customization options. However, half the time, I have to FC the launcher on reboot... marginally annoying =(
Zeam is also very smooth. But... not so many features. Haven't figured out how to customize dock icons.
GO Launcher EX.

ADW Pro has always been my favourite. So far the most customizable one I've come across. Used it for months without any problems.
Greetz
The stock launcher.

Go Launcher is the smoothest, most versatile, and FREE, launcher I've used.
I've tried nearly every one available and keep going back to Go. It's just so slick... And so FREE!
Gingerbread stock launcher is the most horrible launcher - even worse than HTC sense.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA App
Stock Gingerbread launcher. Nothing comes close in speed and smoothness. The mod that replaces ADW with the stock launcher in cm7 is my favourite thing ever.
Sent from my Nexus S using xda premium
go launcher - because i love the smoothness and its simple to backup.

I switch between launcher 7 and launcher pro. Adw is sweet.. until you hit the app drawer and realize how choppy it is.

ROM toolbox. It has file viewer, terminal emulator, and script reader all built in.
--My REVO is Broken, tweaked, SC'd, and TB'd. Just awesome!
Go launcher, go sms, and go contacts with a nice theme are great together.... also recently discovered widget locker which is really cool

[Launcher] Smart Launcher

Since a week I have Smart Launcher installed. It is super light weight, beatiful, highly customizable and last but not least super oderly, I am amazed! I tried Sony Stock, Adw, Go, Apex, 3d, Regina 3d and many more but I was never so happy with third party launchers. I thought let share it with you. You can try it out, see links below.
Free (but no ads): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ginlemon.flowerfree&hl=nl
Pro: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ginlemon.flowerpro&hl=nl
Special (pro for free): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ginlemon.flowerpro.special
I do not like widgets very much, but if you do; Pro version has widget support.
