Texting - LG Revolution

Alright, I am throwing this here.
For some reason when I send a text, it takes 5-10 minutes for it to go out. I thought, well, maybe its the program, just not saying it sent it. But indeed, last night, I sent several texts to my wife, her phone next to mine. The first message I sent was received 5 minutes later. The second one, which I sent within a minute of the first, took 10 minutes. The third, again with in a matter of seconds, took 15 minutes. WTF, right? So I did some homework, and looked into this. I tried Handcent, no go. It must be with in the system itself and nothing related to the program.
Now on the reverse, it takes 15 seconds to receive a message.
I came on the web and did more homework, talk about account sync bogging down the phone, so I cleared that issue. Nope, still got lag. Reboot. Nope. Soft reboot, again, nope. Still lags. Problem with the ROM? Nope, I have seen this issue reported on a stock phone, here in the forums.
My option, as I see it, a factory reset. Please tell me I am wrong. On the plus side, I do a reset, and I take on Verizon's stupid update, and then push Clock and decrap.

Do it in clockwork not from inside android privacy menu. I definitely think its ur phone as I don't think anyone else has this issue. (At least I don't)

Nope. Still 5 minutes. At least my Adw home replacement is working correctly now.

Try sending a text with wifi and post the results
Sent from my VS910 4G using XDA App

I run on wifi at home. Still the same results.
Sent from my VS910 4G using XDA Premium App

And I downloaded handcent again, but its still doing the same thing. I lost swype again, but I downloaded SlideIT.
Sent from my VS910 4G using XDA Premium App

And this popped up right away.
Sent from my VS910 4G using XDA Premium App

Hmm thats crazy I'd flash back to stock and get a replacement
Sent from my VS910 4G using XDA App

LOL
Now how do I safely back track to default? flash stock then unroot? do we have the stock programming on the forums?
Sent from my VS910 4G using XDA Premium App

I occasionally get something similiar. I'll send a text and it stays stuck on sending. Rebooting doesnt help. The only thing that ive found to somewhat fix it is to put the phone in airplane mode.

Indeedy do. Now what would that system have to do with airplane mode? Hmm, my connection is more active on the awakening from the airplane mode. If I send a message, I get it stuck in sending. 5 minutes usually. But it will say I sent it 5 minutes earlier. I froze the stock messenger, lol, 10 minutes.
But when I initially send, I can watch my connectivity to 4g kick, for a second, and then nothing. Surprisingly, even 5 minutes later, it won't budge. But when I kick it out of the airplane mode, it goes nuts communicating with the tower, and completing my last messenging task. There needs to be something that I did when I snagged the rooting, and rom downloads. This didn't happen to me before, and it has happened to no one, currently. So I could go back to stock see what happens, run wifi, and download the root, and rom again and see what happens after that.

Yeah exactly right. Flash stock unroot.

Oh well, I broke it pretty bad, so I downloaded everything to fix it. I went to IRC and waited for someone with a bigger brain than mine to come along. Much to my dismay it was Regn. But mt was not toI far behind. They got me going in the right direction, and Cube came on and sealed the deal. So far everything is working good. I do have one issue with handcent doubling my messages.I cleared out the default, so that doesn't pop up, but handcent is giving me doubles. Thanks again. And I did wreck my phone on purpose, I saw enough threads to know where I was going, just not enough head knowledge to get me all the way there. God bless you guys, even Reg !!lol.

I started getting the double received messages with handcent for some reason. I just recently had changed to gosms, and now use stock and no more doubles with either.

[Q] Loss of touch screen

OK, so I've had this issue a couple times before today, but today it's happened three times. My touchscreen capabilities cease completely. I will be doing something on my phone and put it back in my holster, and when I go to use it again I have no way to interface with it. I'm on the 1.1 ROM. Not sure what's going on. The only solution is to do a battery pull... Anybody have any ideas?
Sent from my VS910 4G using XDA Premium App
Have you tried just turning the screen off then back on? Works for me... although my screen randomly gives out while using it... lol
Sent from my VS910 4G using Tapatalk
I have all kinds of issues with my screen. Sensitivity gets out of whack sometimes. Typing is a ***** sometimes. I dont know if its a screen calibration thing, or LG, but its a huge pain in the ass sometimes.
Sent from my VS910 4G using XDA Premium App
Turning on and off doesn't bring it back like it did with the Moto Droid. Kinda disheartening....
Sent from my VS910 4G using XDA Premium App
Dang... I was hoping someone else had had this issue and knew of a fix... Oh well, not yet any way lol!

1 thing u can do is go to verizon store and show them ur touchscreen not work and they send u a new phone through warranty at no charge

[Q] boot menu?

I found this at rootzwiki called "Found a bunch in Fastboot menu's, SBF flash mode, recovery and more...." im not a dev so I was wondering what these options do. I went down to hp tool and selected it to see what tools come up and it just rebooted my phone. I guessing I need it hooked up to a computer to use this. Since I don't know what im doing I stopped but I phone seemed faster. Not sure if its just cause of a reboot but I couldn't get over 1000kbps download and 500kbps upload. After I did the hp tools and it booted up I was getting over 2000kbps DL and 800kbps UL. Can anyone shed some light on the subject for me. "Remember im not a dev" just someone that's wants to improve his phone.
Ok, I switch to wifi to see what I get and speediest went through the roof. Switched back and now I can barely get over 100kbps DL
Sent from my DROID3 using XDA App
So your saying doing this is speding up download speeds?
Sent from my DROID3 using XDA Premium App
I don't know what I did but was getting 2000kbps last night trying to play around to see what it did. But know im doing the same thing and can't get to much above 200kbps. Its stop giving me 2000kbps when I switch to wifi then back. Just trying to figure out what I did.

Nice that would be nice of something did influence download speed. But could also be that late at night when the network is not as crammed you do tend to get higher speeds

Not like...10 times faster though.

True but how to hold the speeds at that rate without going down to low kbps like the op is getting now. Have you tried it?

Daylight savings

So I grab my phone, head to the bathroom, tool around, look at the Amazon app of the day. Done, and look at the clock on the wall...715. So there are a couple words said in my head about my wife being a nut, and I look at my phone...615, assuring myself that my phone is all "that" I walk into the kitchen, 716. So why does my phone think daylight savings has ended?
Sent from my VS910 4G using xda premium
It will correct on its own. Happened to me as well.
Sounds like you got the y2k11 glitch sorry bout your luck...i really don't see how you have made it a hour behind this whole time.

Fixed. I set my alarm for 6, and it woke me at 6. I know Congress extended daylight savings by 2 weeks a few years ago, I ask just surprised phones haven't been corrected.

Mine is doing it too. How long before it corrects itself? It was fine yesterday
Swyped from my rooted revolution (GB)
Rebooted and good to go. Weird

Mine required a reboot. First Android phone that need that. Even last fall, on froyo, it did it itself. Ha.
Hawaii doesn't recognized daylight savings time but mine changed anyway, then changed back to regular time lol.
WTF! my phone changed over around 7pm yesterday, woke up this morning and was still displaying the correct time ... Just picked up my phone and now im an hour behind again!

Edit: but the timestamp on my txt msgs are correct
Edit 2: switched over @ noon, i wish my phone would make up its mind
Mine changed over with no issues at all.

Mine didn't change either. Funny thing is whenever it goes into it's random reboot mode it will say its like 7pm no matter what time it is.
So glad the bionic battery will be here tomorrow and I can get rid of this crap XD.

So Friggin' Irritated!

Going to be down and out for a while, having problems with my replacement phone (random reboots) ARGH!
In order to trouble shoot it, Big Red wants me to leave it booted into safe mode (which means I can only use system apps) for a few days. If it happens again in safe mode (OMG this phone is worthless without any apps!) they will do a warranty swap and give me a different phone. They didn't say what phone they'll give me but put it in the notes that if I call back in with the same problem to give me a new phone.
Everyone keep your fingers crossed that it does is soon, it's going to be a pita not having Google Nav, Pandora, or WiFi Tether while at work
Edit: They tried to tell me that it's a known issue for the phone to reboot when switching between 3G/4G. They also tried to tell me it could be an app that's causing it or a corrupt file on my sdcard and that's why the replacement phone is having the same problem. Sounds like a load of BS to me.
Sorry to hear that. Hope everything goes well!
Sent from my VS910 4G using xda premium
Haha they did that with me on a replacement I didn't even have it activated 24 hours before I called back.
Anyway sorry bout your luck Kane hope everything gets better soon

Yea I've had a couple more reboots gonna be calling big red tomorrow .

Status Update: Called again this morning, they proceeded to tell me it must be my sim card .... picked up a new one at the verizon store, I'll be calling them again tomorrow
Called them today they are sending me a new battery, phone, and sim. Ill give it a week and see what happens. The tech said the battery may be glitchy and te sim may be going. My issue is the phone just turns off and I have to restart it myself.
Sent from my VS910 4G using Tapatalk 2
Going through the same process, my phone still has random reboots even with V8. And they said that all of them were fixed. I'm on my 3 revo, 2nd replacement.
wow wierd
havent heard that one before... im still on my first revo and thought by now i would have gone through a couple of them, keep us posted. although after changing everything i would think that would solve it.
So yea this new phone they sent me............. it sucks!!!! Tried to use it to call someone they couldn't hear me but I could hear them. No random reboots yet in 12 hours.
Sent from my VS910 4G using Tapatalk 2
On to replacement number 3 :/
Sent from my VS910 4G using Tapatalk 2
Edit: Figures I would get a tech who owns a Revo ... he said he's never had a problem with his and wasn't aware of any reboot issue with this phone (what a load of crap)
He did offer me a Charge or a TBolt ... I said no way! He then went back to sending me a replacement, didn't offer me anything else.
Apparently big red got more replacement revos , they're sending me one too.

I have had random reboots to i just went back to factory settings and im fine now nothing has happened like that.... But it could possibly be a app...
I get random reboots with the stock zv8 , screen freezes are quite often as well as losing data connection in a full 3g service area . My replacement was supposed to be here friday but it hasn't made it yet

I would of tried to bargain them into given you a more higher up phone like the Nexus or a Razr or a Razr Maxx

True. I have a feeling that I'll run into the same situation as Kane did since I have the same problems and I have a feeling if they give me another Revo it'll just do the same thing.
I tried to get something a little newer, but the rep wouldn't budge ... I'm ok with getting a bionic, it's what I wanted to begin with but it wasn't out at the time.
My third phone didn't have the random reboots, it would become unresponsive and the only way to get it to work would be to either press the power button on and off or pull the battery.
