I was just wondering if any themer out there could make a simple black bar for eclairOG v1.11(preferrably somewhat glossy) with a round battery icon (used in MAT-Theme, I believe its made by kspec?)
A lot of people have been asking for a black bar in the thread so I figured id try to get a themer's attention. Thank you!
To make things easier for the theme devs heres the link to the ROM
EclairOG:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=620673
and this is the theme that contains the notification bar and battery icon, id like. Thanks!
MAT-Theme:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=5139150#post5139150
heres a screenshot of it:
OOhhh yes...Desperatly waiting for this
i am too, I really want it. i have really basic knowledge about theming, ive been trying to get it done myself, but all i get are bootloops...lol
I really hope someone does this haha. or a full sense/hero theme for eclair

Id be happy enough with just the black bar. I managed to modify the framework-res.apk a lil bit but all it flashed was the battery, pulldown menu and the lil network icons, but the bar still comes up white even though i used the black images from the MAT theme, eclair is so much different than donut when it comes to theming, im not asking for much, just the black bar so hopefully someone will do it, because a ton of people are asking for it on the ROMs thread.

yaa i assume it will come sooner or later, hopefully sooner.
In my opinion, i bet bbuchacher will be the first to port one to his eclair ROM, since he did so with his Super D roms

I haven't tested it. I really don't feel like spending the 30 minutes or so to set my unused G1(s) up to test it out, so nandroid before trying it.
It has the pull down, notification bar icons, and status bar from the MAT theme (all credit to the creators of the images used).
http://android-theme-minus.googlecode.com/files/simple_black_bar.zip
There are the images I used for it along with the steps I used for colorChangev3.jar based on what the images looked like.
You have to change statusbar_background.png to statusbar_background.9.png for the status bar to show up black.

you sir, are EPIC! thank you so much for taking the time to make this! I flashed it, only the text turns white, but i found out why. In 2.1 roms, the system icons are no longer located in drawable. theyve been moved to drawable-mdpi. so i think if i move your images to mdpi itll work. ah, i didnt realize that statusbar_background had to be converted to a 9.png. Thanks this has been a great learning experience for me. Ive been fumbling around with the files and images all day and all of last night trying to get it to work. I think i can fix it myself. when I do finish, ill post it here and credit you and the original themer for MAT. Thank you very very much!

[BlackBar Mod - eclairOG1.0-1.2]
I DO NOT take any credit for this.
The notification bar is from MAT Theme made by matata86
and was ported over to eclairOG by david1171
UPDATED!!!! - I found some files that were in the wrong folder, and 3 images that were missing. I moved and restored the proper files into the right places. GTalk no longer force closes, no slowdown, nothing. Everything should run fine now!
Screenshots:
Installation:
-Make sure you have no widgets on any of your home screens before flashing
-Boot into Recovery and flash normally as you would any other theme
-No Need to Wipe anything (If you really really wanna be safe, wipe dalvik, but you shouldnt need to)
DOWNLOAD HERE!!!
Oh, and i might make a couple more versions and use battery icons from other themes on xda. Thanks again david1171 for porting the black bar to eclairOG!
Nice work.
love that battery icon...
Just flashed it and running good so far
EDIT: Got the feeling, that it slows down the phone a bit...

no its just the normal semi transparent gradient black background, but because theres a black wallpaper behind it, it looks almost invisible.
@Che: are you sure its slowing down? My phone is still super fast, i havent noticed any slowdown at all...
for some reason when I install the notification bar I get a force close when I open a chat on gtalk

Oh well, I was going to PM you for it. I think I know how to make it transparent, but I think the application needs to be resigned after replacing PNGs coz it didn't install. I tried signing made easy, but couldn't figure out how to make update-script.

yeah it needs to be resigned. I use stericsons autosign.bat file.
Check out the zip file i attached and look in META-INF < com < google < android < update-script and open it with Wordpad and you should get an idea of those work. theyre very simple. im not at my comp right now so i cant explain much about them right now.
and to anyone having problems with the black bar, ill see if i can find anything wrong with it and fix it.
Ill admit I'm not sure what section I should put this in .. I'm using the epic unlock screen right now and was wondering if we can completely remove the clock from that . The tinted background and everything . I'm happy to try it myself, but not real sure where to find those files . Thanks guys .
Edit: I'd like to remove it on the puzzle unlock as well ... I'm guessing it would be the same process if possible .

A valid question, but still a question and one that would be better answered by the theme section as what are you trying to do is a cosmetic fix.
That said, get 7-zip (per Gizmodroid) or similar tool and start exploring the ROM. I cant remember off hand where the files are that you will be looking for. Here's a starting point but I dont know enough about the system yet to tell you if removing some of the pngs associated with the unlock screens will potentially break something else. system\framework\framework-res.apk\res\drawable-hdpi-v4\
its easy enough to remove the clock itself (theyre just images in the framework-res) and im sure it wouldnt be hard to remove the date/day of week...although afaik no one has tried

This is a morph that should do the trick. If it doesn't work let me know, its the first morph I've made.
whoa dude ... trying it now . thanks!
well hell , im on dark revenge and it sent me into a bootloop after installing and rebooting with metamorph .
I think ill go to SC 2.9.1 and try again . this has been a good rom .. but cant flash anything over it it seems .
alright , i get bootloops on super clean as well ... not just this morph though ... i get bootloop with the custom animation morph too
going to try and push the xml files there myself to the framework res

Sbrissen in case I don't catch ya in irc this weekend I had a thought for the remapped power control... would it be feasible to separate where the carrier text/clear button is back into a separate png like it was in eclair (quickpanel something in tw)... in froyo its now part of statusbar _expanded instead and messes crap up lol
Omj suggested adding it back into the framework... but that's beyond my abilities

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=985053
Would it be possible to take the them from this and put it on Serendipity?
If so could someone give me the easiest way of doing this?
Edit: I know how to move over images and stuff. but i'm not quite sure how to edit xmls and any other stuff like .jar files.
i can probably port most of it over for ya. what serendipity are you running?
I'm running 6.2 right now. I'm pretty sure if you told me what you did I could probably figure out how to do it, and maintain it from version to version.
I would have used the theme porter but the theme i want is actually the leaked Gingerbread ROM from Samsung. So everything would have to be done manually.
so do you just want it took look like that theme? Because you could just use 7zip to transfer all the png's to the framework and twframework

That I know how to do but there are other things like the status bar and dropdown that are controlled by XML and .jar, and my knowledge doesn't go that far.
the status bar and dropdown are in both the tw and framework.res files bud. You're just talking about the icons and bottom bar and all that right???
is this something that you are trying to change? because all of that is in tw and framework.res

Not sure if i changed the notification text color. oh yeah! i didn't change the battery icons yet because the one from serendipity it totally different form the bezke theme but i'm working on it as i type this.

See thats what kinda stuff I was talking about not being able to do. I know that you have to decompile the APK to get to the XMLs in resourses.arsc and then recompile it.
exactly. but im thinking if one of his previous roms had the text that maybe it could be as easy as just switching the two. im confirming that right now with someone who knows all about this.

Mod
Sense 1.0 Rosie Remaps
This is a small Rosie modification to change the right dock button to a specific app, with a corresponding icon.
Remaps
Browser
Camera
SMS
Handcent
Thanks to sk806 for the original work I based this off of, and McD for getting me the right button icons.
godsmacked4653 said:
First off, big thanks to sk809 for these remaps. He pointed me in the right direction, and I took apart his Magnolia remaps to figure out how to make this work.
This is a simple little mod that changes the right Rosie button to something besides the useless "add to homescreen" menu. Right now, you'll still have the little plus symbol. I think that icon is in framework-res or something, so it can't be changed without messing up themes or whatever. But this is a start.
Devs, feel free to link to this, bake it in your ROMs, mod it, whatever.

I'm actually going to look at the app Synergy has and see how it difficult that would be to implement. Right now, you have to flash the zips depending on what you want. It's not the most convenient thing ever, but it's better than nothing, right?

well after looking into the apk. it has the icons in rosie.apk. so it wont be to hard. i got my icons mixed up.
EDIT: i will do the 2 you have right now and tell me if you like them or not and we can move from there?
There's an alternative to hard-mapping every process known to android. You can remap to launchkey, which allows you to switch the remap as you se fit, on the fly.
Just use this package name and class in your remap code (instead of "com.android.camera" or whatever):
Code:
const-string v3, "com.beansoft.launchkey"
const-string v4, "com.beansoft.launchkey.Redirect"
Then, just include the launchkey app in the mod zip to push to /data/app, and you're golden.

Yeah, synisterwolf put together a browser icon for me, but it's off center. Not too bad, but enough that it'd bother me. (and probably others.)
If you can get it resized, I'd love to keep these updated for people that want the correct icons. I'd do it, but all the theming I ever do just breaks stuff.

Not much control on Touchwiz. You can add or remove pages, application icons, widgets, folders, and wallpapers.
You can set all of these via 'menu' button in home screen.
I've been using C-Rom Mix v17 for a few days now and i can say it's very good, fast, smooth, and stable with very good features.
