Hi Guys & gals.
Since VLC player has already been ported to iPhone 4, & the sources available for anyone to comile it for any other platform of his/her choice, what's stopping someone from porting it?
Advantages:
- dont bother about conversion, can play all.
- many others that are not apperent to me as of now .
The source code page - http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-sources.html
I know this thread doesn't belong in this forum, will be tossed to the appropriate one at appropriate time by appropriate people & I welcome it.
i still prefer mVideoPlayer
yeah, advantage "dont bother about conversion" is kinds pontless - we already can play everything.
would be cool if we could watch divx-streams
Thank you all for answering, but if its on iPhone 4 why not on my SGS?

same thing applies: we have something like mvideoplayer on SGS, why not on iPhone?
VLC uses software decoding/rendering to display movies. This sucks. Bad.
mVideoPlayer uses the on device codecs, which use the on device GPU to decode/render movies. This is way, way better.
So yeah, VLC can be ported, but I doubt anybody will put in the kind of insane work required when mVideoPlayer is available - with mVideoPlayer on an SGS being the best (by far) video solution for any mobile device available.
+1 for this

To be honest vlc suks big time even on windows. You can download many-many players that look better, work faster, have more options, play same amount of file types and do it faster.
Window media player classic is a good one. Search for CCCP on Google. I only use VLC for region locked DVDs.
VPlayer is good enough?

(unless you actually want the orange cone etc.)
+1 for Media Player Classic
The best one i've come across so far.
Thread moved to Q&A.
You can go to the VLC forum and see that they are working on it.

+1 for VLC.
mVideoPlayer does NOT play all formats, like .rm (Real Media Codec) which VLC does.

Such as...?
/I don't want it on my Galaxy S since it won't be h/w accelerated, but I think it's a damn good cross-platform player
Yes. Such as? I don't know of a better video player on windows than VLC. Please enlighten us all of one that is better.

Depends on your criteria. I personally prefer Media Player Classic Home Cinema with ffdshow.
Hi guys,
I am new to android and I was able to install flash using an apk file. I did the market fix and but I don't feel comfortable with doing the full market fix. So here is the problem, is there a way to get the apk for the TV.com app?
Thanks,
NNL
It is available, Cough *app* cough cough *planet*...
hmmm... seems I am developing a cold ... *snif* snif.. cough cough..
I pulled that app right out of the gmarket app store that's included stock. It's pretty useless though as I like watching full episodes and the app gives you clips. Just use the web browser to navigate their site and you can watch full episode (just watch 2 full episodes of big bang theory but the player does crash periodically)
Does anyone can provide me any link to download Shazam encore for NexusHD2-Gingerbread V2.2?
hmm... buy it??
here you go
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.shazam.encore.android
buy soundhound, its better in my opinion. when you grab a song you get album art, youtube links, lyrics, amazon links to buy it, great stuff.

I agree. Soundhound is much better than Shazam.
Soundhound all the way. takes less time to identify a song too. rougly 4 secs
I've never heard of this Soundhound before this i thought Shazam was one of a kind, ive paid for Shazam and all and more often than not it has come up trumps, i see the paid version of Soundhound is €3.65, i might try the free version first.
Asking for paid applications is silly...
Just looking for an app that will allow me to stream all my music and videos to the Nook. Anyone have any suggestions?
VLC Stream & Convert is good for movies. Works for music as well. You have to pay for full version for full features like making playlists, optimizing video, etc. Try the free version and try it out.
Sweet, will do. Thanks.
I am using playon. Works great for streaming my ripped movies, Netflix, MLB games. Might want to check it out.
need app?
i don't think so
I use audiogalaxy for my music which is simple and working great so far.
Sent from my Hero using XDA App
You can stream Netflix through Playon? Hm... might have to try that out. I've been pretty happy with VLC S&C since I've got it working, but Netflix would be nice until they get around to making a proper Android app for it.

Looks good buddy. Can it replace my day-to-day torrent downloading app or can I only use it for downloading videos? Can we also download non-videos torrents too?

Thanks for liking it, now it is just to quickly watch videos , but it will be difficult to download other torrents with it.
i am working on full torrent app that will include this feature. it will be released in few months
