HDMI Dock - Netflix? - Galaxy Tab Accessories

Before I shell out $30 for a dock, want to know what will stream to the TV with the HDMI dock?
I don't buy from the media hub. I Download a lot of Youtube with tubemate (for my daughter/son MLP-Friendship is magic/Phineas and ferb (ok ok i admit I watch those by myself at times, can I get a brohoof?)) and I figure those will stream fine.
My main question is, when traveling, I would love to lug this instead of my Xbox 360 for netflix streaming. So 1. Does it stream netflix to the TV without the protected content crap message? 2. Does it look good? or does netflix downgrade the settings cause it recognizes it's on a tablet?
Trying to think of other things I would want streamed, oh maybe pictures. I don't know. Hope someone can answer they've done it.
I'm running the Overcome mod.

I don't think he means streaming. He is renting them from Netflix, converting them on a PC, and then transferring them to the tablet. I don't know of a reliable way to watch streaming movies from places like Netflix but I have heard Netflix is working on it. I can stream things from my PC using an app called upnplay, and some people use Orb, or others. But they pretty much all are using the movies on your PC.

Streaming for movies is a no go. We are waiting to see if netflix releases an app.
Tv.com and hulu work for light/casual tv viewing purposes.
okay maybe im not being clear...
1. is it possible to rent or buy itunes movies on g tablet?
2. is it possible to rent or buy block buster movies on g tablet?
3. is it possible to save movies on the g tablet through an external disk drive(like movies i own?)
thanks

Wow.. You didn't get that from the discussion above
1. No
2. No. Unless you mean to have them sent to your house.
3. Yes. will need to convert them to a format playable by the tablet. Can copy them to an external sdcard, or to the internal sdcard, USB thumbdrive, or even an external hard drive.
As said above the way most do it is to convert a DVD, or your movie file and then copy it on to your tablet. I'm sure there are companies out there looking at ways to do what you ask but not yet. Android is like the wild west of operating systems in a lot of companies minds. Because it is open source they act like everyone will steal everything they put out. Unlike the Ipad that is locked tighter than a drum..

1 & 2, If you can watch on a browser in you computer then you can watch them on G-Tab with a browser. Currently there is no iTunes App of Netflix App for G-Tab.
3. Yes you can watch your movies, but there are some format restrictions, search this forum for the tools and format which can be used.
mediainfo software on you PC will give you info of your movies.
Okay... so can I download iTunes movie to my PC and convert that? I hate not understanding this stuff...aaaaargh
I'm downloading a movie now to PC...will try to save to SD card...
will I need to purchase a media player app for tablet

I think anything you try to do with Itunes is going to cause you problems. The movie will likely have DRM. That is copy protection. I don't know how to convert that, it likely will not play on your tablet because you don't have a player from Apple to decode it on the tablet.
Only thing right now I know of that works reliably is to use a DVD, or a movie file without DRM and convert it. I know there are ways to watch from sites like Hulu, or TV.com but I don't find them to be really reliable yet. Usable, yes. Reliable with no issues, no.
I know it is not what you wanted to hear but this stuff is all brand new and will get better. Just not yet..

avi (dvix/xvid), mp4 and mkv (main profile) can be played, try rock player, i have it and was able to play 720p @main. use tools like, mediainfo, handbrake on your pc to check and convert your media.

Yes, I have a 69 Charger. Have had it since 1992.
Anyway, if you are trying to play the itunes movie that's likely the DRM keeping it from playing. Rockplayer is my favorite player. Some people have success with MKV, others don't. I haven't messed with it enough to know. I just convert everything to MP4 in Handbrake and it plays good enough for me.
Videos from iTunes won't play even if converted in handbrake. You have to use something like tunebite which is supposedly a legal way around drm if you bought the file.
There are tons of sites dedicated to file conversion from any source to playback on portable devices/memory cards. I highly suggest googling for them to find more detailed information and people who are more specialized.
I4iphones
i use i4iphones i used it on my jailbroken ipodtouch in app form and as long as the movies have a megaupload box you can download or stream them on the g tablet
Seems like an expensive way to do it.
Renting an individual movie via blockbuster/itunes=3.99 a movie. (or at least thats what blockbuster charges when i use my samsung blu-ray players app).
Netflix 1 at a time. unlimited netflix viewing at home plus 1 movie at a time for $9.99 a month unlimited.
I can get 2 a week for that, pop them in my pc, Encode them and send to the tablet via usb cable. Figure, just over $1 each for each movie at that rate, (not counting the net flix streams i get to my blu ray player and iphone).

[Q] Zumocast with LaptopDock

I was wondering, does ZumoCast work well with the laptop dock? If so that would make it a much more appealing gadget.
Thanks
You can run any app from your phone, including Zumocast, with the lapdock.
yes you can run any app. the only thing i found is you cant play youtube vids from the lapdock, you have to use the youtube app on the phone and inlarge it to watch them. i just got done watching a movie through zumacast steaming from my pc at home. awesome!!!!!!!!!
Awesome thanks so much can't wait for my laptop dock to get here ^^
Will it work on the HD Dock to TV via HDMI?

[Q] Netflix + DLNA ?

someone needs to add dnla support to netflix app!
Don't take this the wrong way, but why would you want this? Between Apple TV, Roku, PS3, Xbox, or any PC, you can stream Netflix with no problem without using a medium like a mobile phone.
In fact, if you have anything that's capable of DLNA, chances are it can natively stream Netflix anyway.
understood, but just for fast access to your movies, on your fast phone... messing with other peoples electronics does not make them happy,.. one click movies however do

honestly its just as easy to buy a cheaper MHL adapter, then you can just plug your phone into the TV's HDMI port.

Right, but where are you going to stream it to using DLNA if you're not messing with any other electronics? Maybe i just don't understand the scenario you'd be using it in.
I'm not patronizing you, I'm just a little confused.
scenario: you don't run windows, so your xbmc on linux doesnt run netflix native. sure you can use the wine/etc hack in a browser but that is ****ty for your remote control. you dont own a console, and your kickstarter love for ouya wont arrive for months. your linux box will stream dlna and windows cannot be installed and support your zfs arrays. phone is already owned, works well, plays netflix. if i could dlna it or even airplay it to linux xbmc it'd be boss. should i buy a 7 year old xbox360 just to play netflix for a few months with ease? maybe. but i'd prefer to just stream from the phone by either dlna or airplay to a linux box connected to a tv that has no hdmi (old hdtv with only dvi)
play Netflix movie to tv via DLNA
I totally agree with hiimjasonkolp that Netflix should allow me to send a movie from my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to my Samsung UN32C5000QF TV via DLNA
I use iMediaShare to easily play movies to the Samsung TV via DLNA including movies stored on my SD card and programs listed in iMediaShare.
Unfortunately, Netflix is not included in the iMediaShare list or the problem would be solved.
Netflix should provide this capability to play movies from your phone via DLNA.
I'm not sure why greyhauk a so called "Senior Member" continuously disagrees with all of your ideas. Perhaps he simply hasn't the experience to on the subject to solve the problem.

Indeed.. I have an Android tablet.. And would be great to just run netflix on the tablet and then send it to our TV..
No cables needed.. and not having to connect the laptop to the PC..
Integrate with existing architecture
I have all DLNA rendering integrated into my TV's and they are all the same model and all is well in this setup, but unfortunately they don't support Netflix natively (Samsung 2010 c series). In order to enable netflix support I would have to introduce new hardware to all the TV's and new ways of interacting with media at home. This is a much more complicated and costly solution compared to simply redirecting the netflix client output from my Samsung phone or tablet to whatever TV I want at home in an "AirPlay" kind of a way. Like i can with other streams using imediashare etc.

Any way possible to get digitally imported to stream on chromecast?

I am really on the fence about getting a CC but the only real uses I see are the occasional screen mirroring, netflix, and youtube. i would do a local media server from my home computer but i'd rather run smoothvideo project and get 60fps and just use my 15ft hdmi cable, but if I had the ability to just use my phone to tell my CC to start playing music while im winding down at night i'd but it in a heartbeat, would this be possible with any of the awesome things you guys have done with CC? for reference I am talking about http://www.di.fm which is an awesome free (I paid to remove ads + boost quality) stream for electronic music. Thanks guys.

spoticast with spotify can play music to your cc
Spoticast is sure useful for Spotify. He was however asking for Internet radio or specifically di.fm. Tunein has them but does not currently support chromecast. I have been tipped myself about Audials https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.audials which supports chromecast. Have never tested it myself and not sure if it has the same stations like tunein. I'm also not sure about how it works with subscribed stations.

It should pass any audio that would be going out your phone over to the chromecast. Can't say I personally tested it when in the background however.

(glad I googled the same thing because I have just now answered my own question) You can use BubbleUPnP (available in google Play store) to get DI to play on your Chromecast. In the settings for BubbleUPnP, it has a on/off switch for "audio cast." Start up DI, click the share button, select BubbleUpnP, make sure you have your Chromecast selected as the renderer, and that Audio Cast is on, and you are all set.
Sup...I listen to DIRadio a lot. When I do at home I just cast my screen to chromecast and it works as it should.

I'll be gosh-darned. This wasn't an option when I first wished to Chromecast DI but it works quite well these days. Thanks!
Audials has the DI stations
Johan1976 had a perfectly useful answer already: Get Audials and you can cast the work to your chromecast and listen to it there. Audials appears to have every DI.fm station on it. I happen to love the Drum&Bass station. Anyway, this option is better than just casting your phone's screen to the TV because you can have your privacy and do other things on your phone or even turn your phone off while the music keeps playing on your TV. In addition, you might learn about many other stations that aren't in DI.fm, and it has a 'favorites' system which is very convenient.
PEACE
Today actually tunein also works great with chromecast.

You can pretty much play DI channel's through Chromecast, but just not through the app itself yet, unless you mirror your android.
All streams that connect with Chromecast use HTML5, and DI channels including (House, Progressive, Jazz house, etc) are broadcast throughout other radios too. The point is each channel has its own stream link, which is usually played in an HTML5 format when you use chrome.
Here's DI's House channel: http://pub8.di.fm/di_house
Try it, you can stream this through Chromecast, preferably through your android which is the easiest.
These links are obtainable through DI's page or through iTunes and come in either .m3u or .pls format.

Can anyone help?

So my dad has this love for playing movies on the TV with his new tablets. I told him he might as well buy the Chromecast because it will work wirelessly and he doesn't need to go across the room to pause and play (he had to use HDMI cables).
Anyway, I didn't know til we got the thing that mirroring is only supported on a small amount of devices. I got it to work on my phone because I'm fully rooted with a KitKat rom on my G2, which is actually a supported device. But my dad has a Hisense tablet running 4.2.2 (latest update). I'm a little nervous about breaking it to him that he actually can't stream movies from his favorite app or mirror his screen.
He uses the app Show Box, I'm sure a lot of people know about it. Its basically free movies. I was wondering if there was an app like MX Player that has Chromecast support. I.e. he can stream movies with this app, and the video player that is playing the movie can cast it.
Or if there is a workaround to mirror the screen on a 4.2.2 device, hopefully doesn't require root.
Our internet isn't too fast, so we're not too hip on downloading movies and having to wait forever to stream them locally. Unfortunately, that might be the best option though.
Thanks!

Found an app called Web Video Caster. Does exactly what I was looking for. When you play a video in an app, just choose the option.
