t5388i camera won't start after rom flashing - Touch Diamond2, Pure Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I bought a HTC 5388i clone from china and they sent me the phone with windows 6.5 installed in spanish which is useless for me. I've searched the internet and I found out that I have to flash the phone with another version of software, I've downloaded from solonomi.com a bin file and I did the SD flashing procedure. After that, I got a white screen and by luck I managed to re-flash the phone blindely with another rom file downloaded for the internet. Now the phone is ok, windows is in english, everything is running pretty well except for camera, it won't start at al. These were my phone's original specs:

I suppose I have downloaded an older rom file, so if someone can help me, please do. Many thanks in advance!!!!

try with Camera Fix to solve it

Thanks for the quick reply, but I don't know how to use Camera Fix, I've unzipped the archive and I got a lot of files, what should I do with them? Thanx in advance!

Pre-production problems

Hi!
I've got a pre-production version of the Qtek 9090.
The ROM version was 0.9x something and I had some troubles with it so I figured I would just update it... Shouldn't have done that
Anyway, I got hold of a strange update file, called "HA_RUU_12100_112_00125.exe" and ran it on my PC. Not that bright, one might think :?
The device would not fully boot up. I then took out the battery and waited a coupple of minutes. After that it booted up nicely. However, the device is not fully functional and when I look in the "Device Information" it says:
ROM version: 1.21.00 WWE
ROM date: 07/28/04
Radio version: DM FAIL
Protocol version: DM FAIL
PRL version: N/A
ExtROM version: 1.21.112 WWE
I've tried upgrading it using all the tools and instructions that I could find on this great forum but with no luck..
The DeviceData app brings back a strange txt-file that looks a bit like this:
PH20A1 A 1 WWE E [and some strange characters] 1.21.00 0 0 1.21.112 DM FAIL
I would be VERY grateful if someone could help me back to a fully functional device!!
Bump!
!!!Help!!!
so, why don't you just try using a non-strange file to upgrade your device then?
Help!
I am, you know!

maybe upgrading the radio stack using the SD method would solve your issue, however, you'll need an SD backup of a working Radio rom for this.
there is a 1.06.01_sd_img.rar (german i think)
and a NTRW_ImageQtec9090.rar (no idea which language)
on the ftp
THANK YOU!!!
I'll give a try right away!
What does the "NTRW"-file do?
Can I upgrade the radio stack without any 120-errors?
A quick question:
Do a use Winhex or some other tool to copy the data to the SD card?
To be more specific:
What tools do you use to copy the .nb1 file to the SD card?
Help!
xdatools is used to program sd cards with rom image.
I've tried the version of XDATools that I found on Jeff Summers page. It says "Invalid file size" and that the image should be a certain size. The Radiostack is not that size..
Anyone?!
Getting Image on XDA III / PDA2k from SD
Just use "ntrw.exe" - search forum for location. That runs in DOS and will copy the .nb1 image you can get from the ftp to an SD card in one command. Insert card/enter bootloader and it worked for me (but not the radio as it hung there - i also have a pre production model)
chris
I've got the 2.03 version of the Bootloader and it will not detect the card...
Do you know how I can upgrade it?
Strange - I had 2.03 too - but after I applied the 1.06....sd_img file from ftp it uploaded to 2.05 - so i was in the same position as you and got it working.
I am not 100% sure it was that file i tried first - it might have been
ntrw_imageQtec9090.rar also in the ftp archives.
Either way I do find some images dont work - so i also found and used psdwrite.exe and that seemed to work when writing images using ntrw.exe did not. I am sure there is something else wrong- but find that between these 2 I can create bootable Sd images that at least get the device up and running.
I am still struggling to upgrade the radio stack - as with the 0.9x version none of the "mainstream" upgrades work - they all fail complaining about the radio stack version.
Good luck - i think you must be close!
Thank you Hampers!
Progress! I got the Bootloader to accept the Qtec.nb1. It takes about 40seconds before it reacts and after that it says:
"
SD Download
=========
Selection=1
Not allow
update!
"
Quite strange, don't you think?!
Just make a copy of your 9090's ROM with romupdate.exe and ntrw and copy the firtst 416 bytes from that to the image file you are trying to flash by overwriting them. Then it will allow the update
Just make a copy of your 9090's ROM with romupdate.exe

Click to collapse
I would like to but when I give the command "d2s", it runs a checksum test, starts to copy and finally fails with the message "Add record is error!" (Even I speak better English than that )
The SD card now contains a bit of information from my Qtek. When I try to re-flash it with this information it returns the same message as usual; "Sections=1 Not allow update!"

Extended ROM??

Hello, i'm newbie in this place. From Portugal.
I upgraded my Qtek 9090 to Helmi's AKU3.2 16MB page-pool 32MB RAMDISK.
I think that i follow all the steps, and it's working (with some bug's).
When i install software it asks where to, and it give me 3 options: "Device", "RAMdisk" ans "Storage Card".
My questions are:
1 - What's "Extended Rom"?
2 - How can i see if i have it?
3 - Can i delete the folder EXTROM that i copy to SD card for instalation?
4 - Why do i have an "x" in connections next to no signal of radio when i had a "G" for GPRS in win2003?
5 - Why my phone sometimes rings normaly and sometimes rings 1 time and the screen turns off but it's still ringing with no sound?
Help the newbie here
My device information is:
Qtek 9090 unlocked
CPU: Intel(R) PXA263
Speed: 400 Mhz
RAM Size: 96 MB
Flash Size: 32MB
Storage Size 60.30 MB
Operator Version AKU3.2
ROM Version 5.04.06 WWE
ROM Date 03/02/05
Radio 1.15.00
Protocol 1337.45
ExtROM 1.3
Read The Wiki :[ :[ :[ :[ :[ :[ :[ :[ :[ :[
I'm a newbie, but i'm not a fool.
I already read the wiki.
These are some questions that i didn't understand.
I will apreciate some awnsers from the "gurus".
Thank you.
1 - What's "Extended Rom"?
it's a place where most Operators use to store extra apps, could be anything. I take a guess here, but most of us here dont use extended rom, we usually resize it to 128kb, so there is more space for the OS.
2 - How can i see if i have it?
there is cab out there, i think it was packed with of the previous wm5 rls. cant remeber which rls though .
3 - Can i delete the folder EXTROM that i copy to SD card for instalation?
yes u can. it's an optional package. but it's good to have it, so read it up, see if u need any app in extrom folder
sry i cant help ya with q4 and q5.
my 50 cent about q4: I noticed (in Italy at least, dunno if that is valid worldwide) that when the big G is replaced by an x, I can't send or receive SMS messages. this is the only thing happening to me in this case.
a friend of mine told me this happens when he goes out of credit, but I was unable to confirm this.

SDHC

I think it is possible to use SD drivers from Herald on the Wizard. The devices a almost equal, and hardware is so. But Herald supports SDHC officially.
The problem is how to install drivers in the ROM. I dumped drivers from Herald using imgfs_tools by mamaich. Registry entries are the same as in Wizard.
If I put it in ROM like a plain dll file it does not work (and native dlls also do not work), and I didn't find how to put it as a module.
If anyone knows how to do it, please help!
Here are modules: http://4pda.ru/forum/attach/710525/sdhc.rar
This would be excellent!
If there are several versions of the OMAP850 chip (allegedly those with S/N less than HT6?? won't be able to use 4GB mini SD Cards - mine is an HT5XX) perhaps the hardware details might be useful to whoever can actually help you.
Also, I am not sure but I think you need to stop the SD device (if there's a way...I'm just going off what I do on the PC) and then restart it after you replace the dlls.
If this works, that would be sweet but last I checked the OMAP850 never officially listed SDHC support so...how did this come about?
Here is information: HTC Herald
And I am trying to change ROM, so I don't need to stop device.
I think I should use XIPPORT utility, or something like this, but I can't understand how...
Any news guys ?

What can I delete for files?

Hi I upgraded my 9090 to WB 6.5 from Xplode latest release. I’m really happy with this and everything works fine.
In this phone the memory is only 43.2 Mb, (I have another one, broken but it has 60Mb.) and the upgrade take almost all of this.
My question is what files can I delete to have more space?
Is it possible to install the OS on a memory card?
I’m really happy with this release so I hope there is a solution.
Regard
Ola A
you should downgrade to wm2003 first and repart your storage space, so that the device also has 60mb, also, the rom takes up 32mb in the rom storage, even if there was a rom with nearly nothing inside, just the operating system itself, it would still take up 32mb, because that is the rom size. and it must be in the rom space, there is no way to install it somewhere else.
so, what you can do to gain those extra 16mb, to need to flash wm2003 and then do exactly, what i wrote here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4706441&postcount=2
in the end, flash wm6.5 back and following that guide, it will run smoothly and fast and you will have slightly more space. still, you will never have more than 60mb of internal storage, unless you pick a rom with a ramdisk, which can offer you yet another 16mb in another partition.
I’m really pleased for the solution...
Please tell me where can I find how I go back to wm2003?
You had in your mind to do the repart for the storage space as in the link you suggest?
Wye can’t I do the repart in WM 6.5?
The download for repart_doc.exe and the second file have download problems, you couldn’t have some down load alternatives...?
How can I install the OS on the Memorycard?
Regard
Ola A
1. for the downgrade to wm2003:
1.a go to firmware.atspace.com/blueangel.html
1.b look for a firmware to match your device, it doesn't matter much, but it should be either an english rom or one in your native language, i guess english would be best though.
1.c Important! Extract the rom, so you have a folder, containing files like nk.nbf, ms_.nbf, baupgradeut.exe and so on. don't just start the exe you downloaded!
1.d download maupgradeut_noid, if the rapidshare download from the link above doesn't work, search the forum for "Chef_Tony Ruu", you will find several mirrors.
1.e download "repart_doc" and "xda-unlocker.cab" also from the link or search the forum, i uploaded it many times
1.f put the maupgrade in the same folder as the nk.nbf and all the other stuff from the wm2003 rom
1.g hard reset your device by pressing reset+power and camera+record, in the menu appearing set
Enable Kitl No
Format Storage Yes
Clear Registry Hive Yes
and confirm with the mail button
1.h after the device started, switch it off and remove the sim card and sd card
1.i put your device into bootloader mode by pressing power+record+reset, the display shows Serial V2.0x, where x is a number from 5 to 7
1.j start MaUpgradeut_noID and flash the device
1.k perform a wm2003 hard reset by pressing power+reset
1.l wait for the extrom to install and the following soft reset
1.m proceed with the manual from the link i gave you.
2.yes, the reparting of the useless extrom partition is, what i had in mind, it slows your device down and is just a collection of useless cab files with carrier customizations like dialer skins and wallpapers, that are installed after a hard reset in wm2003
3. it cannot be done in any os but wm2003, that is what makes this partition so useless, it is just not accessible
4. for downloading those files, if rapidshare doesn't work for you, as suggested in 1. use forum search and look for the file name, together with my name, and you will find several direct download links from the forum.
5. there is absolutely no way, the os can be installed from or to the memory card, in fact, while installing the os, the sd card may not even be inside the device, it can lead to serious damage of the device. like i explained in my earlier post, the rom does not take away any usable space anyway. you have 60mb of storage space for programs and files and 32mb rom space for the rom. if your rom is 20mb, then it is still filling up your 32mb of rom space and your storage will still be 60mb. if you have a rom with a lot of stuff inside, that is really taking up 32mb, you still have 32mb rom and 60mb storage.
that is why it is even better to take a big rom with lots of programs inside, because that way you really save space... since you don't need to install those programs in your storage space.
with best regards
Chef_Tony
A big thank you for your support. I’m now going to try this out.
--------------------------
Three hour later.
Yes, now is everything done. Some hard to find WM2003 file but at last... (They who were in your link weren’t there anymore.)
Now the memory is big and clean. All my apps installed...
A happy new year
Ola A.

I have change the AndroidBootFolder and the others hive´s but.. it´s the same sh**.
Perphaps, Anyone knows any stable XDAndroid for my mobile (WM6.1) (without unzip to 4GB and run from there) firmware to flash the ROM
if NOT a XDAndroid GOOD version, that works with last Gen.Y 1.06.
Thank you for your help
Rgoncalves.
Pelos vistos ninguém sabe?!
Hi, i'm actually running it with thaidai it works better for me, but you need to format your sdcard to make 4 partitions, look here. Anyway i'v try succefully version 7.0, 7.1 and 06.
Just install in the internal memory (not in device) and if you dont have your xdandroid on the root of the internal memory just edit the registry keys, the keys path is [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Gen.Y\DualBOOT] and are described here
good luck!
I`m running this one
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1210040
Very stable and pretty quick once you tweak it up - battery is poor though
install
Do you have the install procedure or a link, the one in the thread is broken
Thanks for helping

New link in on page 2 on same thread, password is same as main post
Code:
parsaspaceDOTcom/files/5448914884/PhenNnoms_Android_Froyo_2.2.2_FSH01B.zip.html
Extract it to the 4GB drive on the Diamond, use a file explorer on the phone to get to the 4GB drive, run HARET - wait for it to boot
When it freezes on white text screen with 1 little white box, that is the screen calibration, touch each white square then wait for it to boot fully
done
Thank you Sir, I'll try that right now)
