Hello, I bought a HTC Incredible S locked at Virgin Mobile. I did an S-OFF + installed recovery image + rooted but I still get Region locked. Is there a way to unlock the phone? (Used AlphaRevX to s-off) Thank you.

Ok I called HTC U.S. today about if we here are going to get the OTA update and I was told no. We need to see how many of us have this phone and have been able to downgrade with the gold card or an method to get 2.3.3 on their phone.
List what model phone you have and if it is S-on or S-off. Because if someone can get there phone working i think everyone else would like to know how it was done.
Thanks

S-on
If you are waiting for the gingerbread OTA, there is a thread that gives you step by step instructions to upgrade from froyo to gingerbread by flashing your phone with the latest Gingerbread OTA. The method works for phones that are S-On.

@KROMO50
I tried every possible combination on Incredible S on AT&T (Bell branded S-on sim unlocked version)
goldcard + PG32IMG.zip = Device ID error (tried every gingerbread version).
also tried RUU virgin wwe ... etc. gives Model ID error.
Probably I'm gonna end up buying the XTC clip.

For now, even the XTC Clip isn't able to S-OFF the Bell Incredible S. I tried it myself.
Raskal should post an update in about a month that should resolve this.
I am a beta tester xtc is aware of the problem we have given build.prop to him solution will come soon

i understand you guys are trying to get S-Off for the Bell IS, but i'd like to know if any of you have tried the GingerBreak 1.2 APK to obtain root. i'm contemplating the Bell IS, but would prefer that it at least be rootable. thanks in advance for your reply.

You can't temp root any Gingerbread Sense ROM on any phone as the exploit makes the phone highly unstable until you reboot, at which point you lose it unless you are S-OFF
I don't get it if htc don't want to update the phone to 2.3 then way the f###k don't they just unlock the f%%%ing boot loader this is what piss me off

You do realize updates have to be approved by the carriers right?
Definitely the worst thing about the android ecosystem in the USA. In europe it's a lot better in this regard. You buy a phone outright and you are serviced directly by the manufacturer. No dumb carrier bullcrap gets in the way. Hence why the european Galaxy S updates were so quick and frequent, whereas in the USA people are still waiting got froyo or gingerbread.
If you're going to get a phone with a locked bootloader, like htc, always get a european unbranded model. It's way better for updates.
Doesn't help the people here though. Seems htc is a far different beast there than in europe. Kinda heartless really. Especially since the software is there. It just needs "testing". Which quite frankly is ridiculous, since it's already tested and known to work.
But sometimes it is better with carrier's blessing. For example, Droid got efficient and quality Android update while Milestone was left in the dark. Update is slow and buggy...

The problem I have the Incr. S with no carrier in the US bc it is a WWorld phone. But yes why the hell is the phone locked.
I'm actually thinking of returning this phone and sticking with my Droid 2 Global. I'm worried about the lack of development and that we may not see a solution for s-off for this device (at least without forking over a lot of cash for an XTC, which as of yet doesn't even work for the Inc2).
Is there a way I can get my htc unlocked for free? does anyone have a website that can be used for this? Im with optus at the moment.
Is this a sim unlock or s-off?
My Optus Inc S came unlocked, I can put telstra sims in there and everything works properly. Same with my brother's Defy on the same network.
I just got the HTC one on Three and I'd like to know if it's possible to flash the unbranded ROM so that I can get access to the 1.9 update without having to wait for three to push it to me?
Thanks all
I also want this. I am new to Android and after seeing the 3 splashscreen, bloatware and having to wait for the update, I am getting a tad pissed off for not getting a factory unlocked version.
I found the stock ROM, my question is: If I flash it to it, will I be able to use OTA updates directly from HTC and in general will my HTC act like an unbranded one?
I believe that to permit unbranding, that would also allow ota update from HTC rather than ota from your carrier 3 you would need to enable super cid, which cannot be set on an S ON phone.
Majority of HTC phone are supplied with S ON.
So if like most people your phone isn't S OFF then you can't achieve permanent unbranded status.
All is not lost though, if you want a nearly stock version that is the most recent base without waiting for 3 then you can install a custom Rom like ARHD.
I bought my 3 branded phone on 28 March 2013, and within days had unlocked, rooted and Installed ARHD.
Am now on ARHD v8.0 based on the latest software base: 1.29.401.16
The only downside is you have to manually update, that is to say you won't receive ota update .

Hmm thanks for the reply. When you "rebranded" it, did you get it unlock as well? or did you buy a code online?

The procedure I followed is to unlock bootloader via htcdev website. I don't believe This process unlocks your phone to allow a non 3 SIM to be used. I haven't tested this, but believe that carrier unlock requires a different process, I think you can obtain this only via paid unlock that I've read costs about £10 to £15

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2386703&page=41 check out my post I just got my sprint HTC one working on ATT
Hello Guys,
I just lost my phone and a friend of mine gave me one that he is not using anymore because he did not know how to unlock it so he bought a new one. Now I have that phone and it happens to be an HTC One M7 from Sprint, it is running Android 5.0.2 with HTC Sense 6.0, Software 6.23.651.10. I booted in recovery mode and it says it is Relocked, S-Off, Hboot is 1.61. Also, there is one option that says simlock and if I click on it then it says SD init fail (within the recovery mode menu).
The phone is rooted, I managed to do it via Kingo App and I just need to get it working in another GSM network, I have been looking for information about this but all I have found is info for when we were back in Android 4.2.3 and tried to go with it but it does not work.
If anyone can please help me find a solution so I can unlock this phone I would really appreciate it.
