[App] BIG Dialer (Now with VOICE) - Windows Phone 7 Apps and Games

Big Dialer allows you to easily make phone calls with the big sleek looking dialpad buttons to dial phone numbers without having to squint!
Now you have the ability to Enable Voice Dialing! This feature allows you to check to enable/disable, so you can hear the buttons you're pressing as you dial, which is great if you have trouble seeing when you dial as it confirms what digit's you're really pressing.

good ,how can i Download it?

It's in the Marketplace.

A very good idea. Congratulations.
What i don't understand is why didn't you go for a metro look that would go well with the rest of the OS?
Wp7 has a very distinctive look, and when an app uses a different style it is immediately observable and very distracting.

First of all, THANK YOU to everyone who supported my program. I originally made this for my Mom and Grandma.
The reason I did not use metro styling, it was easier for my family to see the apps text big and bold. However, I do have another edition of big dialer coming that is completely free and for those without horrible vision, can use the metro styling which has been requested many times and really wanted to meet everyones wants/desires.
Which, if anyone has any questions, please let me know. Also, for WP7 users, if you can't wait for the new WP7 BIG Dialer and want it now but don't want to pay, ask me and I will send you the XAP for you to manually install and no payment required.
Remember to also look for I.T. Guy, a program to help service call tech's to perform repairs properly and SMS or Email invoices right from I.T. Guy to your customer immediately for payment (Payment modules on the way).
If you're a person that likes to BETA stuff, currently, Project: Job Track (not the final release name) lets you literally find jobs around you via GPS. All I can say for now...
Once again thank you everyone!!!

Upgrade - Coming
I have heard some feedback and to make things even easier and more visible... I have made 2 updates that are visible to the UI:
New Call Button (Larger + Color Change)
Phone # Box Modified (Bright-Red Gradient w/Easy Text Color)
Bug-fixes:
White Button Press Fix (Changed to Touch)
New Features:
Call History List (Dial "00")

BIG Dialer now with multi-lingual support and on-the-fly translation!

Thank you, I appreciate it. The free edition is almost out.

Add some exception handling it's closing a lot

First, thank you for your response and recommendations.
Second, unfortunately currently in the WP7 platform, it is EXTREMELY limited as to what you can do and actually out of our hands as we can't even create a cancel/dial button, only pre-set a name + number (to show who you're dialing) and make it Popup asking to dial but only cause the platform at this time does not allow it. It's extremely unfortunate as we can't even control the dial-pad size/look/feel except for 10 or so pre-set options using InputScope, which is the reason for the custom buttons but the whole reason for this specific App was to have huge buttons that were easily viewable for those who have issues seeing.
Third, as for the voice translation speaking, it may be sluggish as it currently grabs the voices via Internet and than streams it as output to your speaker phone. The previous version with the "English" speaking was very large as an App to have great quality audio that was embedded but too many complaints the app was too large, so we compromised and grab translations via the web.
Which the current method is getting updated as we are applying Speak Dial, where you literally speak and it dials what you said but also speaking (if enabled) out-loud the number prior to actually dialing and the keyboard does get a face-lift and I am sure many like yourself will be happy about .
Again thank you so much for your input, hopefully you'll like the update waiting to be accepted in the Marketplace .

notes:
the voice response is very sluggish and inconsistent.
I highly suggest using the default theme colors instead of images for the buttons.
The clear and dial buttons are too close together. I would suggest to have them separated on different corners, or use a swipe left action to clear.
I'm not sure if there is a limitation of the wp7 platform but if the call button could read out the full number and have a huge call/cancel button it would be very nice.

HUGE (!) Dialler / phone screen ?

Hi all,
Bought my kaiser around a month ago and I'm very happy with it in general, but I feel the phone software is quite inadequate (unless I'm missing something obvious).
What I mean is that I love the ppc, but when it's supposed to be a phone, I want it to act JUST like a phone - no other crap on the screen, easy to use when it's clicked into a car cradle when driving.
Specifics:
It'd be brilliant if when I receive a call, the kaiser would flick to fullscreen with
(a) large fonts
(b) a big customisable contact pic of who's calling
(c) Caller's name/number
(d) BIG, simple buttons to answer/reject.
(e) nothing else!
I have searched the forums, I've tried so many pieces of software (fffriends etc) and I've flashed my phone with some of the excellent roms available here, but for me, unless I can find a solution to this 'problem', I'm always going to be disappointed with this device.
Any help most welcome, thank you!
I'm not sure if you've tried it yet, but PhotoContacts Pro used to have the fullscreen caller ID you're looking for, as well as a good photo dialer for making calls. I used to use it on my ols wm2003 ipaq, since 2003 didn't support caller ID photos. I remember being able to choose between small pic, large pic, and fullscreen. I haven't tried the latest one yet, as the kaiser has photo caller ID support and I have different needs from yours, but I can't imagine that they would have removed that bit.
hope this helps
-=ADAM=-
I'm taking a look now, thank you. I must say, so far this looks like it solves at least part of the problem - the incoming call feature is *exactly* what I was wanting.
Much appreciated
Now I guess I just need a better dialler application of some kind. I'd like a full screen dialler, with *nothing* D) on it aside from
(a) Numbers
(b) a button for accessing contacts.
I hate having to use a fingernail to hit a teeny little 'contacts' button - if I'm in the car or walking, I want to feel like I'm using a phone, not something I need a stylus for.
Any input most welcome.
the s2u2 slide to unlock program features a setting where you can also slide to answer. it also displays the contact picture in full screen when someone is calling. its large and easy to work with

Dialer Fix

I often describe my Fuze as a great PPC but lousy phone. My biggest complaint is the dialer. The biggest issues are the keys being too small and the keys blacking out during a call.
I have installed Nosleep and TouchInCallScreenTweak with mixed results.
I few months back I saw a post on Iconsoft Phone Extension and ignored it as it cost $. I saw a post again on it the other day about the release version and tried it. I may be hooked. It has Dialer, Contacts, Call History, and Favorites tabs and is pretty customizable. The best thing though is the dialer. You can actually dial a # key, credit card number, etc., while in a call. The keys are large enough so I don't mis-dial too.
It is worth the two week free trial. For me, I think I'm going to spend the $25 to keep it.
It's here:
http://iconsoft.com/?language=en&menu=ab6edc6b63d1a291
and NO, I don't work for them.
You sure you don't work for em?
Saw the exact same post on the at&t forums site.
Oh, now I see why LOL......I'd do it to, if it would save me 25 bucks
You can get an Iconsoft Phone Extension license in several ways:

I paid my $25
and thought I would share. If you would like, I'll attach my PayPal receipt.
Iconsoft 1.4 is absolutely awesome I'm using it with energy ROM 6.5, because original HTC dialer conflicts with WM 6.5. That's the way, how should look contact's application And 25 usd isn't very expansive
I have to say, when I tried it out, I thought it looked quite nice, although I'm not sure it gave me much more than the standard dialer for my use. However, although I didn't seem to be able to uninstall it (so be careful of that, if you are just trying it out), it did work with my Touch Incall Screen Tweak as long as you got it to switch the screen off during a call in the first place. If you don't do that, it seemed to prevent the screen being switched off completely, and just allowed it to be dimmed.
Cheers,
Steve.
With version 1.4 and some alternative skins available, I am now very satisfied with its function. I especially like the the fact a Speakerphone button is available and you can get the Keyboard back in view easily if you have to enter a digit to do something.
It is a shame people get flamed for talking about it. Iconsoft's marketing ploy was a dumb move but the product is has made my Fuze finally usable as a phone.
For those that want to try it, search for it. I'd post the link but then I'll get flamed again. I've attached a screen capture of the Dialer. The new skins come in Red and Green too.
does iconsoft phonex 1.4 allow th call recording feature? (ICR) thx.
There is another alternative which in my view is better. I have tried both extensively.
Take a look here: www.inesoft.com and look at Phone 4.
I have been using Inesoft Phone 4 for quite some time. It works great with 6.0, 6.1 and 6.5. I would not run any phone without it. In fact, I bought 2 licenses for the same phone, but that is a different story.
Be advised however, that the great big buttons you see for dialing are only available when you start the call. Once the call is connected, the normal system dialer is what is available. So if you have to check your office voicemail for instance, you can start the call with the big buttons, but once connected, you will be back to the small standard system dialer buttons. Not a problem for me as almost everything is on speed dial.
Even with that flaw, this is a great app. I can honestly say that I think it is the most well though out application from a users perspective that I have ever seen on the WM platform. They have a generous trial. Give it a try and you will see what I mean. Be sure to fill the first page of Favorites and you will notice that it automatically creates another one. Also, look how easy they made it to rename your favorite buttons. Lots of little things that show how much attention they pay to details.
Oh, one other thing, it has never crashed or caused any problems on my phone in about 9-12 months of use. Now that I think about it, it is kind of embarrassing, but in this time period, I have used 3 different phones (eTen G500+, x500 & Fuze) all with the same great results from this app.
Happy trials.
Doug M.
Have you tried inesoft to compare the phone 4? I hear that's good as well. I can't seem to figure out how to add favorites. Does yours work in WM 6.5?
One question for the inesoft Phone 4.
Does it have a slider for answering calls or only press buttons?

I figured this out. When I went into contacts, I would press the favorite button. This just brought me back to the favorite menu. In the contacts, you have to select the contact, then press "edit", then add favorite.
Contacts Changer
I've had this program for a while. When you add contacts to WM there backwards unless you put them the other way. This app will swap them back.
Each time you add a new contact run contact changer and swaps them. Used it on my 8525 and now my fuze. I'm not for sure where i got it but theres a website at the bottom of the app of who ever made it to give credit.
Thought some body else might want it. Didn't want to start a new thread
An unstated feature of 1.4 is that it adds back the BT status icon to the Taskbar. The BT status indicators are called by the HTC Dialer. Took me along time to finally figure that out. Using the WM6 or other alternative dialers nukes them. PhonEx adds them back though BT Discoverable does not have a separate icon. I think the status icon is a must as my Fuze provides no other clues that BT is On. I don't want BT left On when on Battery.
PhonEx also plays nice with PocketShield although you must tweak their redundant features. PocketShield is a great app that disables unintended button presses while fumbling with your phone as it comes out of your pocket, case, purse, or wherever you carry it.
Adding NoSleepRaphael and TouchInCallScreenTweak has finally tamed my unruly Fuze.
My great PPC but lousy phone is now much better. Downside is having to pay bucks to get a workable phone that wasn't cheap in the first place.
I have been using iconsoft PhoneEx for a while and think it is handdown the best dialer I have ever seen.. The search function for contacts (I have 100's) work smooth and easy, the full screen cid and slide up to answer are all great.. The only 2 complaints I have are you can not reject a call with a text message, and i am seeing some conflicts with the standard MS dialer using NRG's ROM but all in all it makes using the phone much easier to use..
Has anyone else seen the conflicts with MS dialer (usually upon hanging up a call) or missing a call...
I'm using the stock AT&T Fuze ROM. PocketShield shows the MS Dialer enabled by PhonEx. I am not seeing conflicts but then the Fuze always seems finicky. I have learned to live, maybe tolerate is a better word, with it.
Phonex is very solid right now making me scared of a new version.
only press buttons. i have used both quite a bit and must say phonex is much better imo. i find inesoft to be visually ugly and not very responsive. scrolling is not nearly as smooth as phonex.
just my .02

Kaiser junkie

I love my Kaiser, I will not trade it in for a Fuze. I am however set back with questions unanswered. I'll enlighten you.....
1) I have been using an app called "Where is My Phone". I love this app. There is a certain feature I am quite curious about that acts as a macro. When you SMS the phone with a certain command as the text, it triggers a macro to work. This is very interesting to me. I am aware that there is a program running in the background to check for such a text request, but my question is, are there other programs out there that will let you run your own macros on such a text requests???
2) I am also running the Inesoft program on my phone. I absolutely love the dialer, however, once the dialer has been used and a call is placed, the default dialer pops up... very sad since I havn't been able to find a dialer skin that I like. (yes, I have searched everywhere and found them all) Is there a way to set the inesoft dialer as the default dialer on my Kaiser? This would be very useful, because I cant just tap and hold the "1" button on my inesoft dialer to activate retrieving my phones voicemail messages.
This forum is my lifeline to the outside world when it comes to my Phone and i thank you all in advance.
uhm as for your first question, I'm not too sure if I can answer it. I do use an app called mobliza that runs in the background. it's basically like an away message program for SMS. it also has a feature that allows it to carry on a conversation with people who text you. go to tiltmobility.com to find the download.
as for your second question, I don't think there is any way to make it your default dialer unless it's cooked into a ROM.
actually, my first question looks confusing... what i want to do is get my phone to perform actions when i sms it. if you look at "where is my phone", its an app that sends you the gps coords, with a google maps hyperlink of your cell phones location when you send it a certain text.
As for part 2, I guess Ill just cross my fingers and hope someone cooks up a rom. thats the best dialer skin ive seen. finger friendly, big, plain, simple.....

I do not think xda allows roms with commercial software in the forums, as this would be considered warez, unless they just include the shareware version, which would be useless as it requires you to purchase after trial period. Maybe you can download a kitchen and integrate the software into your rom, shouldn't be that difficult.
You could provide the software to the chef of your favorite rom and ask him kindly to brew it in for you. As long as the software are fully available for download its no problem adding it to any rom. Reason why its not done are that people have to buy to fully take advantage of the software and no chef is going to force something like that on you. There has been payware on certain rom from some of the most known chef`s in here, but its very rare and if so its because the software been brand new or killing good.
The thought of brew this in case the device is stolen by someone are good. Cause if the thief are not an advance user chance of getting it back are good even after a hard reset
I used to use inesoft address book and if I can remember correctly, there is a setting where you can make the dialer and history the default.

yup, i think i came across that program, where you text your mobile with predefined commands and when your cell picks it up it runs the application or script. One thing i forgot the name, but i think its freeware, if my poor memory serves me right. Damn, anyway it stays on your homescreen, just a small icon on the lower part.
The developers also programmed the location based application launcher based on what cell radio tower you are on.

[APP][BETA] gVo v0.6.0b - 09/02/09 (Google Voice Dialer) ALL RESOLUTIONS!

FAQ:
Question: Why do the CallBack and SMS buttons seem unresponsive at times?
Answer: Make sure you have 7,10, or 11 digits entered, also while gVo Online Features are loading in the background, CallBack and SMS buttons are disabled. They will be enabled upon loading.
If we don't disable them, then we can't guarantee that the number you selected will be pasted in the correct spot. This is a result of having to wait for google's responses to our actions. Sorry!
Question: Is WM6.5 supported?
Answer: I don't run wm 6.5, but it really depends on which rom you're using. Custom 6.5 roms that use the newer beta Internet Explorer browser do not work correctly with gVo because of the newer IE dlls.
gVo
So ever since the public invites started going out to google voice users, I've been looking for the perfect google voice dialer. Google has yet to release a windows mobile version for what ever reasons, and so I was on a mission to make my google voice life easier. I came across subpro's iDialer, which worked great but still wasn't as easy as I wanted it to be. Plus its integrated as a regular dialer too so it was a bit more complicated then I wanted. There is also OneDialer by m_drunk, but it wasn't exactly what I wanted either. I read about GVdialer but that one isn't free, so I didn't get a chance to try it. Anyways, so I spent two days (and nights) working on my own dialer. Finally, I have a workable application, so I thought I'd share it. Free of course.
*** You must have .NET3.5 installed ***
*** You must have Windows Mobile 6+ ***
*** Touch Screen Phones Only ***
MAY NOT WORK RIGHT WITH THE THE NEWER IE VERSIONS
Anyhow, here's what it is:
Current: v0.6.0
Select contact and dials their Number (Mobile)
Enter in a non-contact number and dials
Supports ALL Resolutions (QVGA,VGA,WVGA) new!
No Skin Support (since this is meant to be a quick and easy app, no need to worry if it looks good)
Landscape support new!
Google Online Functions such as SMS/CallBack/Inbox/Voicemail
Support for International Calling
ChangeLog:
v0.1 - v0.2
added online feature
changed graphics / layout
v0.2 - v0.2.1
Made change to dialing pauses In the hopes of speeding it up more. Doubt it changed anything though. (so you don't really need to update to this version)
v0.2.1 - v0.3.0
Made online features a bit faster. (but realize that if you have the gVo online features enabled, it will try to connect to google on start up. If you don't want that, then disable it in the config)
Added a red button to select which number to use from your contact. (M = Mobile, H = Home, W = Business/Work)
v0.3.0 - v0.3.1
Changed username length up to 50
passwords are up to 25
v0.3.1 - v0.4
Removed Graphics (so we don't have to worry about skinning and resolutions)
Now supports ALL resolutions!
Now supports Landscape!
v0.4 - v0.4.1
Added dedicated Online/Dial buttons (Online Button only visible with online feature enabled in config)
Google Number can now be 11 digits
Changed config page's layout to be landscape friendly
v0.4.1 - v0.5.0
Changed dedicated "Online" button to dedicated "SMS"
Added "CallBack" Checkbox in config (for those who want a dedicated callback button)
Made the graphics look better (goodbye google colors! Hello Black, Seems everyone likes black)
Disabled SMS and CallBack buttons while online features loading (If we don't disable them, I can't guarentee numbers pasted in the right box)
v0.5.0 - v0.5.1
Changed dialing requirement of 7 or 10 or 11 digits to only 7 digits or more (since international dialing can vary in how many digits total)
*** if you don't dial internationally, you don't need to update to 0.5.1 ***
v0.5.1 - v0.6.0
Added better support for Google international calling
(added checkbox that enables support for international calling, everytime you dial you will get a message box asking if it's an international call or not. I know it's kind of a hassle but it's the only way to really support international calling. If you never make international calls, do not enable international calling and you will never see the message box)
*** INTERNATIONAL CALLING IS NOT FREE, YOU MUST HAVE GOOGLE VOICE CREDIT ***
Voice Features:
Dial - gVo dials your google number, enters your pin number (if you have one) then dials the person you want to call (from manual dial or contacts list). Basically, it does what you can do by yourself, but in an automated way. Also, this method allows your google number to show up to the person you're calling.
Online Features:
SMS - Logs you into google's site, and pastes in the number you dialed or selected from contacts. You should be tabbed into the text field ready to text!
CallBack - Logs you into google's site, and pastes in the number you dialed or selected from contacts, then automatically clicks call. After that, you may have to choose which callback number, but if you only have one callback number, it should only ask you once, then be automatic from then on.
Both Online features will also let you check your voicemail, and do other things to/with your google voice account.
(DONT FORGET, ONLINE FEATURES USE DATA/INTERNET! SO DONT ENABLE IT IF YOU DONT HAVE A DATA PLAN!)
Anyhow visit google's website for more info on Google Voice.
And oh yeah, I do not take any responsibility for any harm this application does to you whether it be mentally, physically, emotionally, financially, etc. Also, I am in no way affiliated with Google, so all logos and whatever belong to them. I did this in my spare time, with the intention to share with everyone else in this great XDA community. **Also realize that I'm not trying to make the ultimate best google voice application with bells and whistles, I just want to make it easy and simple to use.**
Enough of my blabbering and here is the cab, enjoy!
Tips:
If you enable gVo Online = Google Voice Callback, SMS, Account Settings, VoiceMail (uses default internet connection)
If you disable gVo Online = Google Voice Call (Calling Card Method)
For gVo Calling Card method, you can either dial the number or get a number from the contacts list.
For gVo Online, you can also dial the number or get a contact's number, then connect to gVo Online which defaults to the SMS feature. If you need the number you selected, its in the system clipboard, so just paste it.
nice.. i want to be able to use this with wifi if possible... without using the phone method. keep up the good work bro

keep in mind that with cdma phones a call will go to voicemail if the phone is connected with (active?) 1x data (EVDO/3g connections will pause for calls)
I'm not sure if it's possible to send the call back request and terminate the connection fast enough, but I'm willing to test if you find a way to try.
edit; further test proved my suspicion that you can be connected with 1x, but no data sessions can be active. there is a registry entry to control this (evdo or 1x)
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnMgr\Planner\Settings]
"SuspendResume"
Works great on my HTC Touch Pro Please please add the SMS please Please

Ok, I added an "online" feature, and since I don't have a cdma phone, let me know what/how it does. Like you said, we may have to do a quick data termination to receive the call. Thanks!

Hmm.. I did a hard reset and tested it on my device, and all is working fine. Make sure you entered your google username and password and number/pin correctly. Can you describe to me how to recreate this issue? Are you on GSM? I'd like to get to the bottom of it. Thanks!
interesting
I am also on energy rom on a Touch Pro, Fuze to be exact. I am running the latest build as of this writing, which would be the august 11th 09 build. I have no problems at all...well the online mode pretty much blows(Onedialer isn't much better here either), takes FOREVER to load the GV page, the calling card method works great, however perhaps you have to many pauses here and there cause the GV Dialer uses the same method but zips through a little faster.
However I like your implementation better as the GV dialer asks which service to use everytime you make a call, whereas yours can be assigned as a softkey and used only when needed. I was using iDialer in the same fashion however, in order to call from a contact you needed to install iContact in addition, whereas yours uses the existing windows list. Cool.
If you could speed up the calling card method(try the GVdialer trial and see for yourself) and mabye implement the sms in the same way or better as one dialer, then yours would be byfar the best in my opinion. Keep up the good work.

Hey, thanks a lot for the comment. This definately will help me better understand how to improve it. Yeah, I haven't tried GVdialer yet so I'll have to find time and try it out, maybe I can impliment a similar sms solution. I just wanted an easy way for people to connect to their google accounts. Basically as an all-in-one online feature. I'll see what I can do! Thanks again!
If I use it without the internet it works fine... but as soon as I click the checkbox... I click connect a blank page comes up... then after a few seconds the program just closes.

Ok, so I tested both GVdialer and OneDialer, and they are basically using the same method I am.
About the calling card method, you have to wait for google's prompts and then enter the your selection. So there isn't a real way to speed it up much more than it is already because I'm using the most minimum pauses I can. In fact, as soon as you hit dial, my application sends the number string with pauses included to the built in dialer, then my application exits. So my application actually has nothing to do with the dialing after you hit the dial button. (You can listen in after it connects to google and hear it dial against google's prompts) The only way to really optimize the speed is to make a real standalone dialer and time the google prompts with your selection, but even then, you'll only save a second or two.
About the SMS features, because google doesn't have a real api yet, we have to improvise, and so what we're essentially doing is logging into google's website first to get credentials then we can send the text. The only difference between onedialer and mine is that onedialer has a built in SMS form, which is what I had originally too but I thought it would just be better to just use an all in one solution (the google site itself). Because no matter what, you'll always have to log into the site to get the credentials first, hence the long wait.
Once google provides us with a real api, we'll be able to provide faster solutions.
Ok, anyhow, that was a semi technical explanation, sorry if it was confusing.

Ok, it's most likely a connection problem then. Are you connected to the internet? My application "should" try to connect you if you're not already connected but maybe something in your settings isn't allowing it to connect. Try connecting to the internet first(wifi or data plan), make sure you can browse the internet first, then run the gVo application and see if that makes a difference.
When you hit the "Google Online" button, all it does is connect to google's website. If it comes back as a plain page, then it's just not reaching google's site. So I assume its more of a connection problem.
Would this work on a Axim x51v just to control GV, like you can from the web site?

Easy Dial – Much more than your regular dialer and call log app.

Hi Friends, We have just published our first android application (To replace default dialer and call log) in market and looking forward to add several more features in coming few days. I would like to invite beta testers and other enthusiasts to test the application on various android phones. Any feedback and suggestions from the experts and users here will be greatly appreciated.
Easy Dial is an advanced dialer and call logging application for Android based phones. The application tries to overcome the usability problems in the default applications provided by Android for this purpose. It offers all of the standard features in default dialer & call log with much more in a user friendly and efficient way.
Dialer Features
1) T9 Search from the standard number pad.
2) Fast search without any lagging between the dialing actions.
3) Check notes associated with contacts on the same screen
4) Ability to dial multiple numbers associated with contacts from the same screen (Use horizontal swipe or scroll track ball to switch through numbers)
5) SMS or Email a contact directly from the dialer screen
6) View contact cards or call history directly from the dialer screen.
7) Customizable options for fonts, search criteria, button actions and so on
Call Log Features
1) Advanced call log with grouping. No more multiple instances of the same record in call log.
2) No maximum limit for number of entries in call log.
3) View complete history of a log entry with summary of different call types.
4) Integrated Search feature in call log. No need to scroll through the long list of call records to find a desired entry.
5) Delete single or all instances of a record from the call log.
6) Ability to delete all entries prior to a certain record.
Coming Soon
1) Integrate Favorites
2) From the dialer screen, ability to search last dialed numbers along with contact search. Similar to HTC Smart Dialer.
3) Higher degree of customization.
4) Improved skin with more appealing UI
5) When in call log, ability to mark certain records as protected so that delete action does not remove those records.
6) Long press on 1 to dial the voicemail.
7) Add full fledged tab for contacts which will overcome the default contacts issues. Like missing numbers beneath the names.

Description
Easy Dial will let you dial a contact or individual number with the ease of T9 search on your regular number based keypad. Application can get integrated with the default call button and pressing the button then after will directly open the Easy Dial window. To dial a number, just start typing the first few letters of the contact name and it will search for the matching records in the contacts database. If no record is found, it will let you dial the individual number from the same window. The notes associated with individual contacts are also displayed on the same screen.
Application also allows the users to create text messages or emails directly from the dialer screen. Thus eliminating the extra steps to open the respective application, choose the contact and so on.
It maintains its own call log which overcomes various usability issues in the default call log application. A significant improvement is call grouping. The default call log creates a new entry for each and every call, be it from the same number. Like if you dialed 123 for 100 times, it will appear in call log for 100 times. Easy Dial fixes this problem by offering a call grouping mechanism. Here, each number will appear only once in call log and then clicking on the entry will open the history of the calls for the selected numbers. Apart from this, it also offers a summary of total calls with duration (in, out and missed) on the same screen. An advanced search mechanism is also provided apart from standard filters for incoming, outgoing and missed calls.
Would like to help but I can't find the app in market place? Is it available to Canada? Would you like to also post a link to your apk file so people can install it manually as well?
search "easydial"
can't find it in Market...
edit: got it http://de.androlib.com/android.application.and-dev-isol-qwjp.aspx
Could you add contact pics? i like this app!
great app thank you very much, from what i see just now , its much better than the OEM dialer. One remark and its not a huge thing , can you see if you could improve the delay while pressing the numbers , they are a bit laggy, but it may be just me. Thanks again

Thanks, we are working on the speed and many more features. Will keep this thread updated. If you find any other problems, please do let me know. BTW, which device are you using? and if its a custom firmware?
Love the call log, dislike the dialer. Any chance you could make the dialer larger and make the contact scroll a pull down tab like the launcher?
Hi, could you make it search by numbers as well? Also, a search by initials would be awesome (like HTC's). An example would be:
John Doe
And I'm able to search by entering "5" and then "3" (J, D). Thanks!

We are working on the new theme to improve the user experience as well as the looks of the application. Our fellow forum member "MOONSSPOON" is working on this and has come up with some excellent ideas. I think that will somehow solve the issues with it.
If you could please give some more feedback regarding the dislike, we will make sure to fix those things.
For the pull down tab, that is some thing we have stored for phase 3 or 4, but that will be there for sure. As for now, working on other important features.
Thanks.

Yep, HTC Smart dialer functionality is in under development and we are close to finish that. However, for now it won't be for initials. This is to search the unknown numbers in call logs. Like when you press 5 and 3, it will search for all contacts with the combinations of "JKL" and "DEF" as well as all numbers in call log with 53 in it.
So stay tuned

Im using an HTC Dream with CyanogenMOD 4.0.2 no APPS2SD yet. Like I said its a great dialer and logger.
This is going to be a great application guys. Stay tuned!
Screenshots?
My issue with the dialer: Numbers are a bit on the small side, would prefer them to be about 2/3 of the screen... scrolling window for contacts is too. Basically, it just seems like there is too much interface crammed into one screen. I think the pull tab for contacts will be a big help. I'd also like it if when I dial a number the numbers are displayed immediately (instead of "sorting" through contacts first) so If I accidentally hit a wrong digit I know immediately instead of having to wait for the numbers to display after a no-match on contacts sort.
I look forward to the next version with new artwork, the guys who are helping out do great work and I'm sure things will change for the better. All in all I'm liking the app, GREAT JOB!
This is very well put together, I cant wait to see what you guys do for the update. No lag at all with it. Good Job Guys!

I agree on the too much info crammed in one screen but like MOONSSPOON mentioned in one of his messages "Its a fun battle finding the perfect balance between fitting the most information possible on the screen and making sure its not a pain to use" So let us see what we can come up with in next version with improved UI.
The idea to show a number immediately sounds good and we will work on it. As for the pull tab in list, that is definitely in the plans but on low priority for now. As for now, I feel there are other features we need so working towards it step by step will be best way out.
Thanks again for your suggestions and we will try our best to keep it up to your highest expectations.
