[Q] oldmacnut's vzw gb rom & overclocking - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

has anyone had any luck overclocking his newest debloated vzw gb rom? I was successfully running the tegrak oc on the sprint rooted gb rom but no longer works on the new vzw rooted gb.

What kernel are you running? Is it oc able?

You should be able to use Tegrak with his current rom, but he has an OC kernel as his "things to work on" list. So if you can't OC with his VZW better than life, i'd hold off for a bit till he can manage to get his custom kernel out...

Glad i noticed this thread before making a new one, as i cant reply in the other developers forum yet.
I also upgraded from the rooted stock spring gigerbread to oldmacnut's release, it is an amazing rom but i cant OC with tegrak overclock, i get a device not compatible error when i try to load the OC module in Tegrak. Was running fine in the sprint version at 1.4ghz.

The one thing I noticed is that Tegrak has a new release v 7.0.6 and it claims to support i800 tabs with GB, however the version on the market that is downloaded it v7.0.2. Maybe it's in the works? Does any one know any alternative overclocking methods for the VZW tab on GB?

Tegrak has updated his apk to support vzw gb. My quadrant went from 1388 to 1790 by overclocking to 1.1. AWESOME!

[Q] Need help on whitch new kernel to use? Plz

Hey all
Could someone please guide me in which kernel/rom to flash for gaining more overclocking speed..!?
I currently have Dario's JVQ MOD 1.2.1+update 1.2.2 installed with OC running 1200mhz current kernel is cf-root 3.7 - CWM tels me !!
All is running smootly and very fine, but i would like to OC some more 1.6 or so!
but i am new in this so not sure which kernel/rom version to use for further OC?
I have CWM backup and understand how to use the tools we have avalible.
My phone is a I9000 europe model JVQ
Regards all
hay mate i think 1200 is more enough for i9000....because 1.6 make more battery consumption and i also tried but now happen.....i think u should try semaphore 1.5.0 its also a OC and u can get to 1200 or Galaxian Gt....these are best kernel i found now days.....if u wish to more then u can download the old version of Talon dev kernel...i OC my phone with Talon Dev not remember the version but u can got 1400.

overclock on honeycomb stock, rooted, cwm

I just got this thing from best buy black Friday online, its really awesome (except for the screen lol) but is there anyway to overclock yet for stock honeycomb? I saw some custom roms but I think they were for Android 2.2
I also want to know, rooted stock honeycomb.
You need a custom kernel to OC, Honeystreak r7 or newer are based on stock 50x and has an OC-able kernel.
Which OC tool would you recommend for the Streak 7?
Setcpu works fine, as you're a member of xda you can download the full version for free on the setcpu thread.
But your kernel has to support OCing for any util to OC it.
so is there a kernel working with the stock honeycomb for setcpu?

[Q] How to Overclock my Galaxy Note GT N7000

Hi...
I am currently running the Ultimate N7000 XXLSC JellyBean 4.1.2 v5.1 with NEW Philz Safe Kernel 3.73 for XXLSC and New CWM Touch 6.0.1.9... Can anyone assist with how i can overclock this kernel.
Also i am pretty new to flashing ROMs and a NOOB so please help...
Philz kernel doesnt support OC yet, since JB is still not official, there are no source-codes for the kernel.
however, some users have reported that Tegrak is working with the new JB leaks so that might be worth a shot, Personally I dont like it very much, but some people do so at least test it for your self.
Be careful when messing with frequencies and voltages etc, dont set anything on boot until you know its working safely. otherwise it can cause more harm than good.
Also keep an eye on the hydracore thread as maxfu has managed to make the hydracore work with TWJB leaks. So if he has released it, it might have an OC version

You may try to use Hydracore kernel (please, use search for more details), there are some modifications with overclocked kernel (up to 1.6 GHz). But do you really need overclocking?
hycracore nirvana have some problem with the camera recording and also wacthing streaming movie and video...so beware. the respond of this kernel is good and fast no lagging, i'm using the latest one update 26 jun one. so still waiting man fu to update the kernel. the kernel are almost perfect. cheers
I am use tegrak overclock. All works perfectly. Also i really advice 2 use this programm. Only 2.5 buckses.

how to overclock the Cappy

our cappy is fast as it is on 4.2 but i have yet to overclock a phone yet and i hear its not like taking the risk of OC your computer so i would like to try it out on the cappy first. so i have googled this already and it comes up with somone already OC it to 1.2 ghz which i would be fine with but in order to OC you need to flash a kernal i think it said? i am not fimilular with kernals with all of the phones i have messed with i have yet to touch kernals, the only time i have flashed a kernal (had a interesting custom recovery) was to root my cappy to put CM on it and got CWM after. i dont see the points of them other than more customization which im not interested in, so how would i go about doing this can someone help me out please?

You do indeed need a custom kernel that allows it. Flashing them is fairly simple, you just need a Odin flashable version if you don't wanna go the custom ROM way.
Make sure that your kernel is made for the current version your phone is running and that it's for the I897! As per your signature, Corn kernel would be your best option as it is for GB.

as of last night i flashed Cyangenmod to get CWM and then flashed paranoid android 3.99, mines a I896 btw i think since i got a bootloop its on At&t/firmware. (only useing on wifi for now) i had corn kernel before to get a recovery and root but if i want to OC it would i have to get corn kernel again? it was a pretty slow boot up every time i turned it on with the stock rom.
No you don't have nor want to. Corn is for GB, if you flashed CM, you're probably on JB.
You'll just have to flash a JB kernel that allows OC (like devil).

Buddy, read carefully what kernels are compatible with what ROMs and what Android versions.
The information you need is already available here on XDA in Captivate Android Development section.

so i was looking through some of my stuff on my cappy (cyangenmod 10.1.3 on it) and i looked at the performance option and it has the option to overclock it to 1.2 GHz, would i have to flash a special kernel? or am i fine like this?
Default CM kernel supports 1.2GHz step overclock, just set it and test for stability issues. Nothing else is needed.

first of all the t211 is a tablet not a phone . you have a dual core clocked at 1.2ghz im sure thats pretty fast i think its because you have too many apps. if you still want to overclock ask at the q&a section of its offical forums here http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-3 . cyanogenmod sometimes have the option to overclock their devices, i would check that out as well

OC is a kernel option so simply flash a kernel that allows it. That being said, you're not on the right sub-forum like Trozzul mentioned. Be sure to flash one for your tablet. OC has its disadvantages so make sure you read about it before going through with it.

Stock ROM OverClock How to?

Hi guys!
Stock ROM OverClock How to?
If you want to stay on stock rom you can install CroPol Kernel to OC CPU up to 1.2 GHz and the GPU up to 729MHz (stock is 400). But keep in mind that your WiFi won't work on Stock.
OC is only possible if the kernel supports it - and stock kernel doesn´t.
CyanogenMod charge eats too much. So I had to use the Stock ROM. Rootl already. I picked up the absurd application of the Samsung phone but still does not work fast. OC Kernel does not work on stock ROM kernel. OC kernel have installed the WiFi does not work. What can I do to speed up the phone?
I'm using Google translation. I hope you understand what I said.
