I was wondering - what would the perfect mash up of ROM features be, if I combined the stock ROMs from the manufacturers of Android devices I have owned?
I liked the Sense launcher and the widgets on HTC Wildfire S, which was my first Android device. Also the alarm clock. It was nice to look at.
The HTC broke up contact numbers in pairs of two, as they should be in Denmark, with 8 digits in phone numbers. The extended reboot menu, with shutdown, reboot and fast boot was a nice feature.
I miss the reboot option natively on the Z.
On i9100 I *hated* TouchWiz and the colors! Also, the lack of notification LED was a huge problem for me.
The lack of to disable the preview of incoming texts, so they would light up screen and scroll through the notification bar, had me starting using Handcent SMS.
Now I use Handcent, because it also can customize notification colors in the status bar, and notification LED color.
They i9100 on 4.0.0 firmware broke up contact numbers in pairs of two, that was good, but it could not disable the preview of incoming texts, that was bad.
Later firmware updates gave the ability to disable text preview, but broke up contacts in sets of 3-3-2, making the number difficult to read.
Call quality was lousy because of the forced noice cancelling and the weak antenna.
All in all the i9100, being a high end device, had some serious flaws when I come to think about it.
I liked the extended sound control panel in the i9100, and I miss it on the Z.
From CM I miss fast toggles to toggle 2/3/4G.
I would love the stock ROM on the Z to have customizable notification LED in the message app, and privacy box like Handcent SMS.
Aqua Mail beats stock mail app by a mile.
Z have a very stable software and a low amount of wake locks. I really like that. However, the screen really drinks all the battery no time - or so it feels like.
Do you have similar thoughts to share?

Can You rotate the SMS/MMS screen Horizontally?
I can't. Polish support told me that is all right.
I think is a apk bug. Conversations screen is ok, but sms horizontal writting isn't.
Looks to be the same on 6055p.
New update solved the problem. I feel like beta tester...
Hi
Somebody knows a modified asusincallui.apk with bigger contact photo? (The original is 612x612, but it is small enough)
I want the same
Hi, XDA
So i installed android 7.0 on my Sony Xperia T (lt30p) and i wanted to record my screen (business reason) But i tried any screen recorder but i cant seem to find on that works...
here is a list with screen recorders i used:
AZ Screen Recorder: 'Can not create video encoder. please reduce resolution or frame rate (or both). Or try with another output directory.' So i reduced both and changed output directory, but it still wouldn't work.
SCR pro: 'Android version not supported'
Unlimited Screen Recorder: 'Error while setting encoder parameters. try using different settings.' I reduced settings, still wouldn't work....
Stock Android 7.0 Screen Recorder: Records screen but when i'am trying to open the file it says: 'Cant open file'
So which Screen Recorder can i use?
(i would like to get the internal audio)
thx for the help
After recently rooting my J7, I've decided to use one of the resolution changing apps to give my phone a 1080x1920 pixel faked resolution, with a dpi of 280. For the most part, it works. Some built-in apps such as the camera or even the touchwiz launcher (seems some UI elements used hard-coded numbers to define regions, or in case of the camera, the view is almost a quarter of the screen with black around the edge, and the touch input is offset to a different corner.
All else seemed good, until I realized another major flaw - the call screen - it works, however when trying to pull up the keypad when in a call, it only displays a single, gigantic 1 button. no other buttons are available. Button-based menus are of course now impossible to navigate... unless every button to press is 1, 1 and 1. And then 1.
Can't take pictures of it now as the resolution change causes an issue for screenshots - I'll need to get a screenshot app for this, but ultimately, are there apps that replace the call screen? I thought a dialer app would fix this but the one I have only replaces the text/call/contacts apps, not actually calling. I'd prefer there to be an app that can replace it, as it seems most third party apps are almost never hard-coded to a specific resolution, meaning I'd imagine it should work on my modded phone.
If more explanations are needed I can try to provide some screenshots as needed when i'm done. I'm really hoping I don't have to reset the screen. I love how everything works otherwise...

Install Google Phone apk and set it as the default dialer app.
