Hi guys,
I've looked through the entire LG Revo section and read all the rooting threads. I haven't been able to find any helpful information pertaining to my situation. Even though I'm a noob to this forum, I'm not to forums in general.
I'm getting this message when trying to root:

I've turned the phone on/off and that still hasn't got me rooted. I've also taken out the SD card. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks ahead of time!

I'm currently running SW Version VS910ZV4. As I was trying to root my phone, a new SW Version tried to start and download. I put it off for another two hours, hoping I could get my phone rooted before that.
Is there any program/method for rooting with the newest software?
The whole reason for me wanting to root my phone was to be able to use the 4G Hotspot. I'm still on the unlimited data plan and would like to be able to use my laptop anywhere with my phone....especially at work.
Is there another way to use the hotspot without rooting your phone? If so, I might go that method.
did u install the lg drivers for your machine?

Yes, I installed them from the PDA.net website.
your using the wrong superone click
go to this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
now go to the bottom of the post and download superoneclick 1.7
this should get you rooted
make sure you have usb debugging checked. the correct drivers installed for your machine. if on a desktop try putting the usb in the back of your tower
report back with results
Will do....right now I'm running SuperOneClick version 1.7 like you suggested instead of the newer version. I'll just show you what I've got so far. I've been waiting on this screen for about 3-4 minutes now...

Waited about ten minutes....still nothing. I closed out the SuperOneClick program. Tried running with the rage setting....same results as the first.
I'm not sure what to do...
try rebooting the phone and computer
I thought it was gingerbreak we used instead of psnueter? I have a terrible memory sometimes though...

Thanks, I'm going to have to give this a try later tonight. I think I just opened a can of worms though.....last night while I was sleeping, the phone upgraded to the newer version. I'm going to have to read the thread where it gets you back to a previous version so I can root it.

i have tryd two different ways to do this from the unlockr way to the unrevoked way. no luck yet. i am a newbie but i am technically savvy. i build computers as a hobby and this is killing me.
the unrevoked way i am getting stopped by the fact i have RUU .6 i have tryd to downgrade to .5 with no luck, usb error 170. yes i have proper drivers installed and my device is findable everywhere it needs to be on my pc..device manager recognizes the htc drivers. i am running win7 x64
i really want to flash this phone so it can be usable performance wise...i am forking out a small fortune to buy the evo4 because this phone is so laggy...please sumone help...

i have 2.1 os, build # 2.27.651.6, so i cant get SU app, and when i try to downgrade via the RUU .5 version i keep getting usb error 171...i have tryed every different thing i can think of to make it work to no avail...
i even tryd the older flashrec way last nite and it wont work either...when i click the back up button it says it cant find....and yes i follow everyone of the tutorials to the letter...i just come to a point in all of them where my phone doesnt take the next step...
another way i have tryd
it never gets to this step either...just kinda stalls out and doesnt ever produce this:
$ /data/local/asroot2 /system/bin/sh
[+] Using newer pope_inode_info layout
Opening: /proc/857/fd/3
SUCCESS: Enjoy the shell.

You can't root this version 2.27.651.6, which you said you have, you must have version 2.27.651.5 to root, so download that build, and reload it first, then you can root easily.

Run RUU let the 171 error appear. LEAVE THE PHONE AT THE HTC SCREEN!
Exit the RUU
Run the RUU again while the phone is still at the HTC screen.
It will run the second time.
Ty. I will try that tonite when I get Home. If it works then that info would be a good sticky for others. Will post back with results. Ty again
Yeah, I also have the same problem when trying to RUU, hopefully if I get to try this tonight it'll work.

out of curiosity would doing this (running the ruu twice) work with the 1.29 or 1.56 ruu?
I have a similar problem with trying to downgrade 2.27.651.6 to 2.27.651.5. I've tried running the RUU (which takes a LONG time to load, by the way) but it sits at the "Verifying information on you Android phone. Please wait" message for 5-10 minutes then says it can't connect to my phone.
I have Sprint's CDMA HTC Hero with Android 2.1. Every guide I've found about downgrading makes absolutely NO mention of how your phone needs to be setup when you connect it to the PC.
I've tried it in "Charge Battery Only," and "HTC Sync" modes.
I've tried it with and without "USB Debugging" enabled.
Same results. Anyone??

i have the same problem. HELP??
I have a sprint htc hero with build 1.56.651.2
I want to root it for the ultimate goal of using it as a wireless wifi access point. I have read alot about the different versions but don't see much about my build. Is it possible to root this version easily and where exactly are these steps? Sorry to be a noob!! I have JB itouches and phones so I should be ok with this. Any help Thanks!
It looks like I am running an "old" version (1.56...) If I root it what will the new build be that I have?
RUU error 171
I am having the same problem trying to downgrade 2.27.651.6 to 2.27.651.5 I ran RUU and got the error 171 then tried runing it again while in the htc screen as sugested and still got the same result I am getting quite frustrated with this. I have also tried to download differnt ruu's from differnt sources they also dont work. Please help
To all of you need some help with getting the ruu to run try this.
1. Make sure you download all the necessary items found here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=694572
2. Check out the step by step rooting video on Youtube found here.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tAKrIZzXIyA
I used the video rather than try to read all the steps because I felt it was much easier to see everything and takes about 10 mins.
Then make sure that leave your phone on the charging option not "Use as Disk Drive" etc.
I've been rooted for a while but I just rooted my gf's Hero last night and was getting the same errors with her phone that you guys are mentioning so I reinstalled the Htc Sync program and after no luck finally realized I forgot to turn usb debugging on. This is key. MAKE SURE YOU ENABLE USB DEBUGGING. That seemed to solve the error message for me.
im still getting the error 171 saying that my phone is not connected is there some prep work that i need to do besides charge only and usb debugging
i read you cant do it if your running a windows 7 pc

Hi XDA, this is my first post but I've been using the forums for years.
I'm having a problem rooting my LG O2X, with both the Z4 and SuperOneClick method. I'm not new to rooting devices as I've rooted my HTC Legend, Desire HD and Nexus S with no problems.
Z4 method force closes on the device, and SuperOneClick v1.9.1 just hangs while waiting for a device and then the program stops responding.
Does anyone have a solution to this or an alternative root method I'm not aware of? I've browsed pages and pages and used the search function extensively before posting.
Android Version - 2.2.2
Model - P990
Baseband - 1035.21_20110218
Kernal Version - 2.6.32.9-dirty

LGE Version - LGP990-V10b
With thanks!
Are drivers all installed correctly?
Does the phone recognise the USB connection?
Have you enabled USB debugging?
Try disabling it and enabling just when superoneclick says Waiting for device
Also, try another USB port on your computer.
Have You read this thread?:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1037751
Have You tried to install the right LG drivers? (even reinstalled)
(Is Your phone recognised as an ADB unit?)
Have you put your phone in USB debugging mode?
(settings->applications->development)

Use this guide and it will work:
Got it rooted. For all those who get stuck at "waiting for device" with the SuperOneClick follow these:
a) make sure your phone is "seen" from your pc under hardware (http://www.junefabrics.com/android/driver.php). Follow the instructions here. If needed install your drivers from the link on the bottom of the junefabrics page.
b) Download the PdaNet from here (http://junefabrics.com/android/download.php), when prompt to replace the drivers, press NO.
c) if at this point the PdaNet istallation tells you that it cannot detect any phone you need to go back to the drivers problem. No correct drivers (debugging), No root.
d) Run the SuperOneClick and it will surely do the job.
You can also get some more infos on here (http://theunlockr.com/2010/10/11/how...eclick-method/)
Took me 1 hour... SuperOneClick took 2 min.
Thanks Maliacrete, you're list helped me a lot! There was a problem with the ADB drivers. Rooted now
What ROM's are you guys using? Any personal recommendations, for stability and speed?
Thanks again.
I also have problems rooting my lg optimus 2x
Hi I'm soon fed up with trying to get this phone rooted. I have tried superoneclick 1.9.5.0 z4root and nothing worked.
I've tried reflashing it as this method belows shows
NVFlash is for use on Windows PCs.
Excellent details on how to set up NVFlash are available in this topic (thanks jmcnz), but in a nutshell the process is:
•Download the ROM file below
•Download the driver file below
•Turn device off, remove battery, plug device in while holding volume up and down - screen will stay black but Windows will add a new 'APX' devices
•Install drivers extracted from driver file download
•Run 'flash.bat' from ROM file download
•Wait for flash to complete and device to reboot
The all important files...
•NvFlash ROM v10b / 1300166062 (15/03/2011) - DOWNLOAD (Mediafire Pro) - MD5: b17cb7fd3542b5d02baf49879a83acff [CURRENTLY UPLOADING]•NvFlash drivers - DOWNLOAD (Mediafire Pro) - MD5: 2eab4f16fe1337a209a550ccd0be69c2
Enjoy!
I then tried this method that Maliacrete mentioned
Got it rooted. For all those who get stuck at "waiting for device" with the SuperOneClick follow these:
I have no problem with pdanet seeing my phone, I did not choose to update the drivers.
I tried installing the driver for LG Android Phones. and my device manager looks like this
I can't post links yet. I get this when I try running superoneclick

yes I have turned on usb debugging.
I've closed F-secure
Plug it into a different usb slot , make sure your phone gets connected correctly, check if windows is throwing some errors when its connecting with the phone while installing drivers. Or check device manager, should be some driver probs there
the thing is, I've tried different usb port aswell. I've even tried on a my other laptop.
Nothing seams to do the trick
Try to run soc as admin , right click the .exe run as admin think you know what i mean
I've run superoneclick as admin each time :-(

Dear Cobber79 I know I will not be of a help by saying that there is a problem with your installation, but I am afraid I cannot help you any further. Every one who has tried the guide I posted you above has succssfully rooted their LG.
The only thing that I suggest is: Take your frustration out, go to your hardware manager and uninstall all LG drivers (even the LG PC Suite) and then take your time and start all over again. You can also see the guide here: http://theunlockr.com/2010/10/11/how-to-root-your-android-phone-superoneclick-method/

Hello, as you can probbaly tell I'm a pretty big noob to all of this, rooting, this website etc...
I have looked for other threads about this problem but havent found any, I'm posting this in roughly the right place, I hope.
Anyway I was rooting my phone with this method, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1818502, from what I saw it was pretty full proof. As I ran the root program in the command prompt my phone was ment to reboot but It hasn't it has just been sat on home screen and the command prompt script is just sat saying:
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
It has been sat like this for good half an hour, there wasn't anything saying how long it should take and I'm getting worried, I don't want to manually re-boot it, in fear thta I wil brick my device.
Any help would be great, even a link to a more helpfull thread would be great, thanks.
PS. Sorry if I'm being a completer noob or anything...
have you enabled USB debugging? Looks like adb isnt seeing your device.

I have been trying to root my LG Optimus 2x for maybe 10 hours now. Nothing works.
I bought it already used, with stock rom Froyo 2.2.2
I am running winxp sp3 and ofcorse i have already installed LG drivers and have "debug usb mode" (adb) checked.
List of thinks i have tried without success:
SuperOneClick - No ADB connection
NVFLASH - no connection
Smartflash - no connection
ADB over wifi - apparently i need root for this, so no success
^After theese tries, i came to the conclusion that my usb connection is not working for some reason (i cant even get mass storage working, well, never buying used phones again)
z4Root - App freezes and can not be started again without reboot.
Root via Terminal Emulator (Rage against the cage) - I cant seem to run/copy this .bin anywhere, "Operation not permitted"
I even tried gingerbreak.
I am not a linux noob, nor an Android noob. I have successfully rooted multiple devices, Desire (pvt-4 alpharev s-off) and some tier 1 android phones.
Anyone have any clue what is going on here?

Root The D415
Rooting a device is a serious procedure. If you stick your finger into my face saying I bricked your device, I will laugh at you!
I may be a junior member here at XDA, but trust me. I have a lot of knowledge on Android.
Requirements
- D415 Device
- USB Cable
- LG Drivers
- Access to a computer with internet
- Rooting Script by: Avicohh Download Found at bottom of post.
I can actually help! I rooted my T-Mobile D415 using this one click root CMD script. All credit goes to Avicohh.
1- To properly root, go to your settings on the phone and go down to the about device section. Click on the software info section and spam the build number.
2- Get to the main settings screen and there will be a new section called developer options. click on it and check USB debugging. Your phone should be plugged into your computer at this time all the way until the end of the procedure.
3- Now, go to your computer and launch the root script from there.
4- On the phone, a popup saying allow USB Debugging comes up. Click Ok and the rest you have to follow on the script itself.
5- After it finishes, you should see your phone reboot. After that, you have rooted your phone!
Note
After the phone reboots from step 4, another USB debugging popup will come. You need to click OK.

T-mobile LG optimus l90 D41520b Android 5.0.2 ROOTED:angel:
There's a big problem with 32-bit Windows XP while rooting L90. After turning the phone back on with software upload mode (volume up + connecting USB) a new XP device appears (Android MTP Device) and there's no way to install it because there's always a yellow cloud icon. In this case, the script cannot see the phone and will not continue rooting the phone. Even if I manage to install "proper" driver, the yellow cloud icon appears again after few seconds, and the driver is installing again and again in the loop without proper finish of installation.
How to make XP keep the driver for goodand avoid looping of installing process?

Sadly, I cannot help you due to many reasons:
- XP is outdated and many things do not work on it
- I have never seen an yellow cloud icon and do not know what it is.
- I'm pretty sure the script was not made to work on XP. So there might be compatibility issues and it may not have rooted properly.
This might be a dunb question....
I"m new at this, What Application do you use to run the script? I feel like I'm missing a basic core program that everyone uses.

You need no program! You only need to have Windows! The script launched a CMD that comes with Windows.
I've been trying to root my LG L90 phone and I get to the Firmware Update screen. Script says waiting for device. How long does this part take. Have been waiting for over 5 minutes and its still at 0%

Finally able to complete process. How do I delete the bloatware ?

What variant of the Lg l90 do you have? It is easier to downgrade to KitKat with kdz to get root with towelroot. Or you could use kingroot
Thanks for this. Might want to add that for the USB debugging to take affect the phone can't be on charge only mode. I tend to forget myself since my own phones usually defaulted to MTP.
My device never has "a popup saying allow USB Debugging comes up"
USB debugging is on, it's in MTP, and it says USB debugging connected. No matter what option I use to root this phone it never shows a pop-up. Any ideas?
