[mod] D3 and Stock GB Camera CWM installers - Atrix 4G Android Development

Attached are working CWM installers for the D3 and stock GB camera apk's.
These install correctly on picrust/cherrypi 0.6 and ninja 4.5 sf, but they should work on any 4.5.91 OTA or newer gingerbread based rom outside of cm7 right now.
Step 1)
boot into cwm (romracer's is prefered)
Step 2)
advanced > wipe dalvik cache, go back > wipe cache
Step 3)
install zip from sdcard > flash respective zip
Step 4)
reboot
It does take some time on initial load of either camera after the flash.
D3 - If you switch to 5mp you get stuck on 5mp. This is not rom specific. If I manage to find a better version I will update the cwm.
**disclaimer**
If you break your phone, I am not responsible. As pointed out later in the thread, yes all this does is push the corresponding apk file, this just makes it a flashable cwm and speeds up the process.

Nice, should this work on stock 4.5.91 ?

it should, I havent tested it directly but the stock gb camera is from that.

it is practically stock gingerbread 2.3.4

that is the build the stock camera came from, what cwm did you use to flash it?

Romracer´s CWM

I just did a fresh install of ken's gingerbread beta and both install correctly following the instruction in the op.
I am on romracers atrix 2 cwm, but I dont think that should make a difference in this particular case.
do either of them work for you?

only d3 camera didn´t work

its possible the file got damaged in the download, or didnt flash right. give it another shot and see if it still does it.

i flashed three times with no luck and also tried changing app permissions with root explorer.
fixed permissions with CWM... no luck.
i don´t know what else can do

did you redownload the file though?

yes, of course

I have no idea why it won't flash for you then, I will look into it further when I wake up.

This will not work unless the rom is made from the 2.3.4 91 OTA/retail SBF . So Alien/Cherrypie/R-9 etc
Most of the new roms have it or have the option on the respective thread.

this is actually in response to people having problems with the ones linked in their respective threads, the update script was changed in the zip files.

Worked fine for me running Alien v3... put on the stock GB camera... tho it took quite a while to bootup so beware... I was thinking I fried the thing...
Tho I have a question... why do pics look so bad and pixelated on this...?? Also the size of the pictures is less than 1mb usually ... isn't it generally the bigger the size the better the quality...??
What, settings should one keep for the best possible picture quality...?? Is widescreen better or 5mp...??
Sent from my Motorola Atrix

Im not sure why they would be pixelated, unless the gallery you are using is the cause. Pictures being less than 1mb would mean they are being taken at one of the lower settings.

I'm completely sure they are set to 5mp or widescreen yet when checking the picture info they are usually like 800kb around... and by pixelated I don't mean like that terrible but not as crisp as what you would expect or what IV seen on my other phones like the SGS...

[ROM] New Samsung JI2 Update Bundle With (EASY) Instructions

DO NOT FLASH THE VOODOO LAGFIX WITH THIS ROM!
Download: http://www.multiupload.com/SXWLND5AKI
That file contains ODIN, the 512 pit file, the original firmware and the new leaked firmware!
To use ODIN you need the samsung drivers installed. You can get them here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=728929
How to flash the update using odin.
Power phone off
Plug USB to computer but not phone
Open Odin.exe
Plug the USB into your phone while holding down the volume keys (Don't touch power!)
One of the fields will turn yellow in ODIN
Click PIT and select the 512.pit file
Click PDA and select the Update.tar file if you want to try the leaked rom or Original.tar if you want the stock rom
Click start
Odin will do it's thing and then the phone should reboot. It will take a few minutes for it to reboot the first time.
DO NOT CLICK RE-PARTITION WHEN USING Update.tar! The leaked rom does not include dbdata.rfs
If you already did that, you will need to flash back to the original rom included in the download first and then flash this new one... The original rom does include dbdata.rfs which will will repartition the phone correctly.
As always, I am not responsible for anything you do... ever...
P.S. Please don't trash talk in this thread.
Nandroid of a clean install: http://www.multiupload.com/FLX6P17XDP
I flashed back to the original rom and tried to use this nandroid to upgrade and it didn't work. Just sat at the Vibrant screen.
What it is:
Leaked rom from samfirmware.com
Android 2.1 (Eclair)
Good things:
New battery full notification
HD Camcorder (Same thing just new name)
Media Hub
Samsung Task Manager (Also available when holding home)
New Swype with the audio input!
Old Root method still works (verified)
Phone is usable during media scanning
YouTube can be set to HD
Cosmetic updates to music player
New and re-arranged browser settings
I tested GPS while driving, at 3 destinations in 3 different cities and all of them locked on within seconds! I also rebooted and tested at each location just to make sure and it grabbed immediately. I did notice while testing at home it was much faster in the Maps app then most other apps that use GPS.
Bad Things:
Can't flash JAC's kernel without modifications
Many apps missing from market There is a fix below...
Slide to unlock screen takes a way bigger slide
The lag is coming back. I'm going to pull the apps I like and go back to the stock rom worth voodoo.
Linpack (1st run) 8.13
Quadrant (1st run) 894
The only thing I DON'T like about this rom is that apps are missing from market.
I have tested on 2 different phones. 1 was normal with lagfixes, etc installed and after flashing there were weird problems with the camcorder, etc. We then flashed it back to stock using the old samsung release in odin and flashed the update, now everything is working great. You might want to revert your lagfixes or something before running this. Maybe it's because it doesn't include dbdata.rfs?
TO FIX THE MARKET:
Use something like Root Explorer to mount the system as r/w and then edit /system/build.prop
The 2 lines to update currently show
ro.build.description=SGH-T959-user 2.1-update1 ECLAIR UVJI2 release-keys
ro.build.fingerprint=Samsung/SGH-T959/SGH-T959/SGH-T959:2.1-update1/ECLAIR/UVJI2:user/release-keys
Click to collapse
Update UVJI2 to UVJFD in both lines like below
ro.build.description=SGH-T959-user 2.1-update1 ECLAIR UVJFD release-keys
ro.build.fingerprint=Samsung/SGH-T959/SGH-T959/SGH-T959:2.1-update1/ECLAIR/UVJFD:user/release-keys

After you download a few apps the market will refresh and it will work again.
awesome!
I'll bet the gps fix also! this is a nice base before voodoo. thanks!
I'm going to do some tests.
Simple question...
Does ODIN work with Mac, or is it still just PC?
As far as I know, only on PC.
Which means I have to wait til I'm at work monday unless an awesome person makes a version we can flash from recovery.
Damn! Ok, I'll just bust out my PC laptop for this one. Can someone post a link to which ver of ODIN I need to downlown for this? Or is it already added in the link above?
Thanks!
Anyone have a mirror of the download? Also.. what is the leak? is it Froyo 2.2?
I have added a link to multiupload which should distribute it to several sites very quickly.
does this odin works for new hardware locked vibrants? i have mine stuck at triangle screen . and i have tried all the combinations nothing works. what do i do

I just did this and it worked flawless i then used the multi tool to reroot and it worked but when i tried to change the boot screen with multi tool it aborted for some reason so i then flashed new boot screen thru cw and work perfect .... now to explore and see whats new...

Add to the good things that the Youtube app now allows you to specify HD as the preferred stream method...Samsung Media Hub working as well....though I could care less about that..
quick question boys and girls...
i'm running Win7 x64. i have read on another site that ODIN doesn't play well with x64 environments. is that why it's not detecting my phone on the com channel?
It's Fine
I was Rooted, highly modded, JAC's OCv4 lag fix ext4. many UI mods etc. everything worked flawless and all my mods are going back on without a hitch

Wrong. Windows 7 x64 + Odin works fine for me, they're probably using the WRONG drivers.

screwed up my camera .apk

So i was trying to remove the shutter sound and focus sound from the camera.
I came across this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1229272
This is what i did: I moved the new camera apk into the system>apps folder using root explorer. Then i changed the permissions to rwxrwxrwx. Then did a reboot. When i try the camera, it force closes. I fooooolishily did not backup the original apk.
Im not sure why it didnt work. Im new and im not sure what how to use the script files in the zip in the other thread. I tried to download the original rogers rom, but its no longer available. I tried a bunch of other htccamera.apks and they dont work. Maybe the htccamera.apk is specific to a 5 mp camera.
Either way i dont wanna do a factory reset just yet, could someone upload a camera from htc raider 2.3.4. With sense 3.0? or help me fix the camera? As a bonus, maybe someone could explain what the two script files do.
I thank anyone who contributes in advance and apologize if this is in the wrong section or for any conventions i broke.

This belongs in the general section. However, you can turn the shutter off. Open Camera, hit menu button, settings, scroll down, uncheck shutter sound.
Also,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1557107
There is no option to turn off shutter, i looked, 4 times. And even if i could, i would wanna remove focus sound too.
The link you posted, i tried that too, both versions, still doesnt work.

You're still on 2.3.4? Download the ROM youre using and pull the apk from then and put in in system/apps. Then clear cache and dalvik.
Im using the stock rom because i dont like to constantly update if i used a custom (sometimes they are unstable). Rogers didnt come up with ics yet. I think i mentioned in my first post, i tried to download the rom from the stock rom thread, but its not available anymore. Maybe factoryfiles lost the rogers rom. I downloaded another ruu but its .exe. when i extract it there are 4 small files and one large 400mb data file and i cant extraxt that one. This is why im making the post, i would like for someone to post a 2.3.4 htc.camera.apk or somehow solve it (because i made some mistake that isnt obvious to me)
P. S. Whats delvik and do you suggest a rom?

1) I would say no. Safestrap and some others are located there as far as I know. I mean you could probably do that and then install fastboot or something and update that way but i'm not 100% sure. Also what is the purpose? As far as I know with SS there is no need to do this.
2) IDK about that.
3) I found Blurry Maxx Rom to be a very snappy and responsive ICS based rom so everything works. It is not blur based so you won't have the quick contacts but I just put 8 "people" card widgets up and it looks the same as a pulled down contacts widget. So far everything except smart actions seems to work flawlessly. I did find v 3.8 to be more stable and faster than 4.2 (not to be confused with android version 4.2.1 or 4.2.2 this is an ICS rom not JB).
Hope this helps.

Sorry I can't be of more help. The JB builds are really hit or miss and seems individual phone dependent. I had CM 10.1 and app drawer stops working after 10 minutes, just FC. I'm hoping Liquid will be better as I've heard. Also it is known you can't do pattern unlock on JB builds as of now and you will need 3rd party camera app like camera fx. Good luck.

My only issue is the whole mounting to /storage instead of /mnt everything else I can live with. I am thinking it is a JB thing. Other JB Roms are doing the same thing.
New question, to get as close to a stock phone as possible, is this the procedure?
1) Boot into Safestrap, remove safe-side ROM.
2) Boot into stock ROM, remove safestrap boot files followed by SafeStrap apk.
3) Do a factory reset.
Would this be the safe way about it?

Can you use RSDLite with the stock leak? I'm not 100% sure about that one but I don't see why not. If you are using a ROM anyway what's the point of using leaked SW for the stock? Seems like extra work to me.
I figured out the formatting but what do you mean with extra work?

my thought is if you can't just use RSDLite to install the "leak" SW than it may mean doing more work figuring it out.

Yes, the firmware includes everything except recovery and aboot. Also a few things I forgot to mention, the switch to turn on volume up for flashlight is in the display settings and to set the apps for toolbox you just long press on the toolbox icon (when activated) and then drag it up to the edit section at the top of the screen. Sorry guys I'm terrible at writing the info and summary for these roms but hopefully I can get it figured out one day.

I understand. Please clarify for me...
I'm on pj2 unlocked/rooted. I want to stay unlocked/rooted. Do I flash the "partial".zip, or Odin the "full" ? :fingers-crossed:
When I read through hsbdr's post's, I must have 5 or six tabs open
I prefer instructions simple, and retail and Dev posts/instructions separate from each other. As well as return to "unrooted" or "keep root" posts. Many have accidentally locked their BL as a result. There is no reason to include a "return to stock-locked" link in with a custom rooted ROM post/links. Uhg
Thank you for keeping it simple for us, and all your work!

Yeah it does get a little confusing. That's the main reason I just posted my own link just to make sure I'm not linking to the wrong thing. Fun fact while testing all this out, I was able to flash pj2 roms while I was on the cpl1 firmware and everything worked. I just tested one rom but it seems like once you upgrade your firmware you may not have to downgrade again if you want to go back to another rom.

The first couple times I tested a firmware that I made, I was terrified of locking my bl. I flashed the one I posted and then tested for downgrade and all is good, but it doesn't seem to be necessary to downgrade again. As far as differences between them the only thing I noticed was more security stuff and some different bloatware.
Forgive me...
So the "full firmware link" (download file name: "cpl1_tar_32bit_ext4") doesn't include the recovery and aboot files(?)

That's correct. If you flash it and let it boot you'll have your custom recovery, unlocked bootloader, no root, no busybox, cpl1 modem/kernel, and odexed system. That way if someone wants pure stock they can just flash the supersu file and your set.

Honestly, I only use that app when testing it and I haven't noticed any battery drain, but I can't say I've ever checked either. I wonder if it just needs to settle in. Maybe someone that uses it more can chime in to see if it's an issue for everyone. If you want to, see if after a while it goes back to normal range and if it doesn't try to get a log and we can see what we can come up with.

If Odin completed it should have at least updated your firmware. If that's the case you could just go ahead and flash the rom. All the files from the full firmware get overwritten anyway. Just make sure you do a complete wipe (everything but your sd/Ext sd) and you should be good to go.

Thank you. Yes I just restored a backup just fine and it's also showing my baseband is now CPL1. Now I'm going to flash your rom so I can have stock whenever I want it. Thank you for your time and help. And for the upgrade.
@kevintm78...thank you for this. I had lost 4g somewhere in all my flashing. I tried reflashing partial firmware and even restoring backups wouldnt give me 4g again.I was getting ready to go through the entire lock, unlock, root process again when I found this thread. I downloaded the full firmware in the op, flashed with flashfire, rebooted into recovery, wiped dalvik, data, cache, and rebooted system. I now have 4g back. I made a nandroid of stock, and then clean flashed LOS and still have 4g. So thankful to you!!

Yeah man, I'm a bit of a flashaholic too and was having the same issues a while back when experimenting with data fixes and thought that I fried my sim card. Like you I tried the partial first but the only thing that got my 4g back was flashing a full stock firmware. :good:

How to go back to stock rom 21s? (x522 US version)

Ive tried nearly all the roms but prefer to go back to stock 21s. I cant find a custom rom that has a fully working camera. The camera works mostly, but when I record video it doesnt record it, only sound. Ive tried third party camera apps and either they dont work properly either or are not reporting the correct MP of the camera. Footej sort of works, but only allows 12MP pictures and 1080p video instead of 16MP and 4k
The 26s builds all seem to remove cell broadcast which is something I need and Ive had no luck trying to move it from another rom as it just force closes on me when I do that.
There was a stock 21s rom here, but when I try to install, it says I have an S2, and the rom is for LE_S2_NA. Ive gone through the build prop and corrected all the lines to reflect this, but its still saying my device is an S2 only and I cant figure it out. I then tried removing the two lines in the updater script and rezipped the files, but then when I tried to install it said invalid zip file or something like that so Im completely lost...

Try this: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B2D34YVbNxk-TmVwd1dMTHZEVUk
I gave it a try and it it let me get past the get prop check and started installing, but after a bit it threw me error 7 and mentioned something about system partition. Tried to boot and it got stuck at the splash screen. If anyone can help me get cell broadcast working on the 26s small eui rom I'd be happy to contribute to a bounty or something.

You need to do a wipe first or it won't install.

This time it didn't throw me any errors but it wouldn't boot either like the last one. Not sure what the issue might be.

I had that same issue trying to get back to stock ROM after trying something like Lineage or Small EUI...
I "fixed" it... first... wipe everything (if you can wipe internal... that's better) install Stock 21S with the modified script... (ROM will bot boot OR will throw error) then reboot to recovery (unless you got error and you are still there)
and flash any ROM preferably Small EUI... but it has worked with Lineage too... boot to the new ROM.. make sure it boots fine.. then go back to TWRP and Wipe everything EXCEPT System... this is important.. if you wipe system.. the Stock one will not boot... and you have to start over... because the 21S ROM is sort of like an update which requires a system to be already on. so, you install the 21S ROM without wiping system... everything should go fine now and the ROM will boot... and everything will come out fine.
This bug happens usually when you go to Lineage 14 and try to return to stock... because lineage changes some system files and partitions and when you wipe System.. the Stock ROM won't actually install... because it is not detecting a proper filesystem.. (my theory)
I gave it a try and followed all the steps but it wouldn't boot when I flashed 21s leaving the system unwiped in the final step. Just gets to the leeco spash boot screen and gets stuck there. I ended up switching to the miui 8 rom for now. Has working cell broadcast and the camera seems to be working ok too.

Thats a classic case of obsessing over specs. 12MP pictures and 1080p video are perfectly acceptable image quality wise

4K downgraded to 1080p is a fairly substantial drop in quality. Doesnt seem right to take a hit on a big feature of the phone like that when using a custom rom and its not worth the trade off of the other features they have. Might not be a big deal to others but losing 4K recording was pretty important to me.
In case this helps anyone else, I found a way to get back to 21s and have a fully working rom:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/le-2/how-to/xtremeaddiction-5-8-021s-le2-t3638891/
MIUI 8 worked great except for a bug with hangouts, it would crash when I tried to make a call or use video chat. MIUI 9 didnt have cellbroadcast for some reason.
