Excuse me if this info is posted else where but i have looked an struck out so far. Can anyone inform me as to a company that can an has unlocked a Tmobile g2x in particular since this is the phone i will be buying? Or the o2x ? For my traveling work i need my phone unlocked. An if its neccessary I can purchase one outright if T mobile will definatly give me a unlock code right after purchase. Thank you!
also want to know if g2x can be unlocked if bought right now? can it be unlocked buying an unlock code from some site or something?
Same question. I bought an unlocked p990 and it's currently charging. Will it work perfectly fine on T-mobile or is there something special I need to do to it?

A quick google search shows that nobody is selling the g2x unlocked as of today. Of course that will change sooner rather than later. If you buy from tmobile and pay for the g2x in full, you can request a lock code from tmobile, who will give you the unlock code in 30-90 days i believe.

If it is unlocked, you should be able to pop in a tmobile sim card and use it on tmobile's 3.5g network. You shouldn't have to do anything special.

Instantly? I hope that it is true. That would be awesome I've never heard of any American cellphone company providing instant unlock codes, for people who pay full price upfront. There is almost always some kind of waiting period, usually taking several weeks.

Don't think the P990 supports T-Mobile US's 3G
can you not buy an unlocked version of the phone - must be places that are doing them sim-free

No its not possible at all. You will have to pay your phone bill.
Contrary in what you believe in, throughout all phone history, there has been only a few phones you can fool with the unlock codes, like the galaxy line, and really old nokias. Really !!!
Unlocks go around $13-17 on ebay, mine took 3 days so I was fairly dissapoint.

Doubtful since the Dev Eds are so readily available, there isn't much incentive for people to try.
And Motorola is notorious for having hard to crack bootloaders.
The answer is no.

No reason to believe so. They have the Dev editions and to be frank, all of the companies are getting better with locking it up, or at least Motorola and Samsung are. Too much developer jargon to use but be unfortunately assured that unless someone wants to leak important code and risk their current job and all future employment in cell phone development, we won't see it.

It was said by some that the eFuse on the non-developer Verizon X is blown, thus prevent its bootloader from being unlocked. I'm not sure how true this is.
One thing is certain, as has been said.. the Retail and Moto Maker X for Verizon can not have their bootloader unlocked. Like past moto phones, the bootloader has proved to be secure enough that no one has figured a way how.
If you want to be able to unlock the boot loader on your X, and you are a Verizon customer, your only choice is to by a Developer Edition from Moto's web site.

I've seen SIM Unlock codes being sold, but not bootloader unlock codes. If you know of someone selling them, post a link, or information. i'm sure there are plenty of VZW users who would pay, especially since 1. there was a bounty thread, and 2. the current root and write protect disable methods for locked bootloader users don't work on 4.4.2, so they are stuck.

The seller is in China. The selling page is in Chinese. I don't know where he got the unlock codes. If you are interested, you can contact him. You will get the unlock code two days later after you provided him your IMEI. I don't recommend you do this because that will void your device's warranty.

I don't need it. I have a developer edition. So I unlocked without voiding my warranty.
I was asking because there are many who got a moto maker one instead, and for Verizon they can't unlock them even via Moto's web site. Have you used that site before? $40 doesn't sound too unreasonable for those who might need/want it.

That Chinese site picture is a EU bootloader (which is unlockable), so I wouldn't trust it, but that is for someone else to decide. As far as Brenden Gonzalez posts on G+ go, the bootloader was 4.4 so it might not work on 4.4.2 bootloader, and his post has never come true either.
Code:
Brenden GonzalezFeb 9, 2014
No this is real i gave it to a Moto x dev youll see it soon hes making a easy to use tolls out of it
I was curious if anyone tried the Chinese bootloader unlock since I would defiantly get rid of my warranty in exchange for getting my bootloader unlocked.
Cant those of us with a locked bootloader simply Safestrap 4.4.2 the same way we safestrap 4.4 right now? I am running 4.2.2 bootloader, with 4.4 safestrap atm. I believe that all we are waiting for is the firmware to drop so we can extract the 4.4.2 kernels and baseband, which can be flashed manually because they are digitally signed.

I said I might be wrong, all I'm saying is that until trusted people start confirming that this is legit after trying it themselves, I wouldn't believe that it is legit...
When I searched for this I saw many posts from last year, and so I'm not sure if anything has changed. This is likely a stupid question, but I can't seem to find a straight answer.
I have an HTC One M7, and the screen is literally falling out of it. I want to pull the trigger on a nexus 6, and looking on Ebay I see that the AT&T version is the cheapest. I've read that these are locked, but that (at least a year ago) AT&T were letting people unlock them. Is this true? Should I buy one of these phones can I go to an AT&T store and get it unlocked to use a different carrier? I'm on Verizon and since the status of my unlimited data is always in limbo, the less I have to talk to them the better. I'm aware there is a site that will unlock phones, but if I can do it for free, that seems preferable.
Also, aside from doing it myself is there any place I can get my sim card cut? Someone said that bestbuy used to do it, but the nearest one is a long drive for me, and I'd hate to make the trip for nothing.
in order to unlock an att n6 thats sim locked, the phone has to be 100% paid off(to att). if the person is selling it, it might be, or might not. thats the very first thing that i would ask the seller. if it isnt, id avoid buying it, as it could be stolen. if it was stolen, att will never unlock it for you.

there are a few places online that you enter the imei number and itll say if its been reported stolen or not, or if its been placed on the list. if it has been placed on the list, then every US carrier will not let you use the phone on their networks. but the only way to tell 100% is ro buy it and try it(but i dont recommend this way).
Well, the seller (of the phone I'm looking at) claims it's a clean IMEI, literally in the title, but that doesn't alleviate the problem of finding out if it's been fully paid off, right?

General Requirements for All Unlock Requests
The device must be designed for use on, and locked to, the AT&T wireless network. (For help see Device Unlock Support )
It must not be reported lost or stolen.
It’s not associated with fraudulent activity.
All the device’s service commitments and installment plans are completed, and all early termination fees are paid in full.
The device is not currently active on a different AT&T customer’s account.
If you performed an early upgrade, you must wait the 14-day buyer’s remorse period before you can request to unlock your previous device.

I am junior here at XDA and am aware of the protocols for posting (search, search, search before asking), My query doesn't match anything I looked for because it is a combo of different things. Hence, this new thread
a) I've bought an ATT G020J on Ebay that will work with Cricket (that's what the listing said) and I am on Tmob. It is without contract, so I am assuming it is unlockable. Has anyone here tried crossflashing IMG files previously between these two exact carriers; is that even poss?
b) In cue, anyone care to share experience with ATT folks unlocking P4XL specifically, for other carriers?
b) Did October update/patch ruin face unlock for most or only few?
I will return or keep the item based on your generous/helpful replies.
Once again, I apologize before hand if I missed any existing thread that might have alluded to these three issues.

Can I ask why you didn't just buy the correct carrier specific Pixel? Also, buying an unlocked version avoids all of this experimentation. Prices are down right now and you can get an unlocked Pixel for not much more than a carrier locked version.
As far as your question, It's not going to work by your logic. Your not going to be able to flash anything that will carrier unlock or switch the phone, otherwise everyone would do it and every Pixel would be unlockable (which they aren't)
My suggestion is return the phone and buy an unlocked Pixel.
October patch didn't harm my face unlock in any way. I haven't Heard any widespread issues regarding have unlock and the October patch.

Why?-- Bands are exactly the same across ALL variants here in the US, other than carrier-locked OEM pickle. So, once it is out of contract, the question was meant to see if anyone has had experience requesting and getting unlock code from the orange carrier.
---Magenta versions are more expensive, based solely on condition of the phone
--- dependable and reputable seller I have bought multiple times in the past had a 9.9+/10 condition with original packaging for $379. Could not pass that up.
(You are right, in that I could have bought the unlocked version. Not sure about you but I pay outright but for previous years' flagships, but only when they are in the $400 range, which is the most I can afford to cough out at once. I don't like doing installments unless they be for a car or house because that's just me)
Sammy's galaxies, albeit Exynos not SD, are often flashed across each other, despite the company's stranglehold on their version of Android. Google being the 'truer' open sourced company, my idea was if, again, anyone had done boot image flashing across different models but once out of contract and unlocked
Thank you for the last bit as well. There was a Reddit thread complaining how the security patch had ruined the face unlock/sensor. But your statement is assuring.

"Out of contract" doesn't mean anything. The market is flooded with locked phones for sale cheap. Could be stolen, could be broken contract, could be blacklisted, etc. Because it is carrier locked you *will have to* go through AT&T to get it unlocked. If the seller was legit, in good standing with AT&T and had simply upgraded to a new phone they could have easily had AT&T unlock it for free OTA and it would have been more valuable/marketable. There are also several threads here on XDA that will give you some insight on trying to get an AT&T phone carrier unlocked. I wish you the best of luck, but you are in for an uphill battle.

THIS THREAD does a pretty good job of explaining it. If you are able to get AT&T to carrier unlock your phone, you can then unlock the bootloader too, if you wish. Only AT&T can whitelist the IMEI on the AT&T variant. @sdg1980

Persistence paid off for some, even within the contract period. I am chalking that up to luck and probably ill-informed techs who screwed their own employer. Ironically, @jac0b was unsuccessful in requesting unlock from AT&T. I have posed him a question about whether his device was paid off or not when he requested or had any particular hurdle unique to his case. Third party or ATT...,,,neither will unlock at any cost until the device is paid off, bad ESN, prepaid device within two month window, and some more stipulations I can't remember. They are listed on the vendors' websites.
