While trying to restore my phone to default, my computer installed at&ts firmwire to my phone. It won't start, just flashing the at&t screen. The original firmwire were JP2. How can I restore the phone back to the download state or do I have a brick in my hand?
Can u enter download mode?
- Remove Battery for about 1 Minute
- Reinsert Battery
- Press VOLUME DOWN + HOME + POWER
- Now you should see a yellow triangle. This is the download mode.
- Start flashing a fresh firmware with Odin (see big faq thread for infos http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=723596)
Nope, it only shows either black screen or the at&t logo...
Well some galaxy s phones have download mode disabled, looks like you've bricked.

I´ll attach four little wheels to the phone and use it as a finger-skateboard. ;-)

not funny at all.
hey jontsku, can you not get into download mode at all? there's a thread where a guy forced his galaxy to download mode by using heat. can't find it right now coz i'm mobile. it's pretty risky imho so prolly have it as a last resort and wait for other, safer solutions...

JTAG service will be available in Finland shortly.
Voids the warranty, ain´t cheap either... But less anyway than the price of new motherboard at service.

Too bad mate. I bought mine but from Ebay.co.uk. Always prefer to buy from there instead of Finland since the devices are cheap to buy and are trouble free. But all hope is not lost

It's a little funny..
There should be a way to get it working, we just don't know what it is yet..
I sure do hope so...
When someone took their phone to samsung they were told that it damages one of the buses. Only way to fix - change motherboard.

Try the galaxy s bootmode app.

Try this
Have to quickly remove & put back the battery, then press the 3 keys repeatedly (vol down, home & on button).

Or:
If that doesn't work, or if your phone is frozen:
1. Turn the power off. If your Samsung Galaxy S is frozen, pull the battery out and reinsert it
2. Hold the Volume Down button
3. Press and release the Power button
4. You are now presented with a menu that allows for Fastbook, Recovery, Clear Storage, and Simlock
5. Select Clear Storage by pressing the Volume Down button
6. Press and release the Power button
7. Now simply confirm your decision: Volume Up for YES and Volume Down for NO

And there was a trick something like phone off loading press home and vol down
It seems that the firmware installation didn't finish properly, so the device boots every time after showing the at&t logo. And odly when you plug the usb (datacable or charcher) it dies. But when you take it off the device start againg with the logos.
Did you tried the hard reset ?

None of the key combinations work. Phone just flashes the at&t logo
i think we had the "at&t" bootloader topic several times already or didn't we? i feel very sorry for you jontsku but i'm pretty sure that your device can only be restored by jtag or changing the board. what i don't understand is why people still use the captivate version of odin to flash (destroy) their phones ... maybe some mod should put a huge blinking warning in the howto-flash section ...

lol, it's only your fault for not reading enough before flashing and choosing the wrong odin/firmware
Hello everyone
I own a Samsung ACE S5830. Recently the power button stopped working -- which was annoying, but I could live with. I just wouldn't lock the phone manually.
But now, finally, the thing I feared has happened: I let the battery run down.
My question is, of course: Is there any way to boot the phone other than the power button? Perhaps over USB?
Should the phone show up in adb devices's list, even if it is off? Because it doesn't, but I may be doing something wrong.
I am out of warranty -- so I'll have to get the phone serviced. Is it worth it, or should I just buy a new device?
Thanks a lot for your help.
Sorry to reply to myself.
Just wanted to let you know I suceeded in booting the thing. I don't really know how -- just hitting random keys while removing and re-inserting the battery, connected to usb.
I am starting to wonder if perhaps the power button does at least partially work -- any way I could test it? Obviously it doesn't perform normally, that is, not locking, booting, holding to get the shutdown menu, etc.

Hey!
If you can enter to DOWNLOAD mode(hold together 3 buttons[HOME+POWER+VOL DOWN]), then its probably working.
CHEERS!
Maybe this will be the solution:
1. Hold Home button
2. Connect to usb (or charger) still holding Home button
3. When in recovery menu, unplug usb
4. Select reboot system now
5. Succes?

If you are using the TMobile note you have to make sure the USB cable is plugged onto the device as well as the computer then do the necessary hold. I think you have to hold both volume down and up and power button then when phone reboots let go of power button

As illest_one_7777 just said. Make sure your USB cable is plugged in to the phone and PC. Then do the hold buttons thing. Just had this problem a few minutes ago and it works perfect with cable plugged in.
I had the same problem and realised that I have to use the usb cable that came with phone, any other cable will cause the issue that you had.
Try to do it with the usb cable that came with your phone, this solved my issue , hope it does yours.
I use an old PC program that I found here on xda, called aio vibrant tool box. Turn on USB debugging and boot to download mode straight from windows, its worked on every Samsung phone I've used. Hope that helps..

Will this jig fix a phone that just keeps rebooting without the screen coming on? It just keeps vibrating every 2 seconds.
this is the right answer OP.

Yes, well sort of, it will put you into download mode the rest is up to you having Odin installed properly, and the correct ROM to flash.

I thought you just do volume down+power and than press up when it boots

Put your battery on it
Download Mode Success
I had success getting into Download mode by having the USB cable connected and holding down BOTH the up & down vol. buttons while also holding the power button. Released power button only when I felt the first vibration during boot and still holding BOTH vol. buttons.
If I did the same thing without the USB cable plugged in, It would boot to Recovery instead of Download mode.
download mode galaxy note

if your problem is about fixing the power button i think that you have to go to the assistance...if you're looking for a different way to turn off your phone and have the reboot menu then you have to search into google play. There some widgets like shutdown widget and so on that should work.
EDIT: Reboot menu is free and has the whole menu.
thx i'll try but if it doesn't satisfy me ill go for assistance
Hey guys!
I'm using a rooted Samsung Galaxy S3 gt - i9305.
When I tried to open the hard reset menu by pressing the volume up + power + home button it went into the download mode and got completely stuck over there. The phone has no charge left. When I try to charge, it automatically boots up and again shows the "Downloading do not turn off target" but it doesn't get charged. If I press and hold the power button the screen goes black for sometime and then again it's in the Downloading mode. No matter whatever key combinations I use, this is what happens. Please suggest me some ways to fix this. I don't have a PC, so it would be great if you suggest me how to get my phone back without using a PC. But I do have another working phone.
Please guys help me.
Thank you.

it seems like you have something wrong with the keys circuits, you need to make a hardware check on that phone.
the volume down key and home key must be stuck(like always pressed).
No they're not stuck. I'm able to press and hold them. The phone actually responds to this, first the screen goes black and after awhile again the download mode is on.:crying:

i know you can press them, it's something in the board itself, circuits are touched or something like that, i can't explain because I'm not a good English speaker in "electronic stuff".
