Guys I have a problem.
I use a N1 with CM7 nightly and CWM as recovery. everything has always worked perfectly since a couple of weeks ago when the backup started not to work any more.
Every time I try to do a back up (both from the ROM manager or rebooting the phone in recovery) the back up stuck when it come the .android_secure folder.
I tried to delete the applications that made it stuck, but every time it keeps stuck somewhere else. Everything works flawless until I reach .android.secure.
Example of someone else having the same problem, also here no solution
I have no idea what to do.
Does someone has some suggestion? I could not find a proper answer to this issue.
Thank you for your time
Regards
Teo
Pull the card out and hook it into your computer through a card reader. Then run a scandisk on the card. Most likely it is a file system issue and the scandisk will resolve it.
I had the same issue. I solved it by flashing an older CW recovery (2.5.1.4)
ROM manager tells me that there is an update available, but i just ignore it.

Hi everyone I really hope someone of you can help me with this issue
This is my coinfiguration
Nexus One, with the latest radio & HBoot installed, ClockWork recovey 3.0.0.5 and original SD as memory card (4GB)
After wiping everything from recovery and formatting the Mcard with 128MBswap & 512MBExt I am no longer able to install any CyanogenMod 7 release either nightly or stable. I did try to clear storage from bootloader and replacing the RA 2.2.1 without success. At the moment the only rom I can install is the MIUI and the stock one GRI40, all Cyanogen got stuck after the boot. Is any other way to do a kind of hard reset at the phone?
Many thanks in advance
EDIT: apologize I did post into a wrong area, MOD please move to the correct place
Thanks
Are you flashing a compatible gapps?
Also, try using a different recovery...
as i posted i did try both recovery (ra 2.2.1 & clockwork). i haven't flashed any google apps as I did flash the rom only
The Nexus One doesn't need a swap partition, try re-partitioning your card without that.
Try to download this: http://www.mediafire.com/?bxfijcp6f6bf1me
Then flash it from Amon-RA. It'll format your system partition too.
mindfrost82 thanks for the link but it seems not working, do you have another one available?
Many thanks

I can't tell you how many users PMed me after using that format utility to find out that when they try to flash a new ROM, they only can boot to recovery, no matter what they do. A nandroid backup with a system image or going thru a restore process involving fast boot img restores is the only fix. Just reporting what I have seen myself using that utility.
guys thanks for your effort but I gave up. I still don't understand why my N1 won't launch Cyanogen7, but for sure there is something wrong on my telephone. After installing without issue the Kang-o-rama 1.2 b3 I notice that after launching the market the main page is blank stating that there is no application available...O_O
Try this:
Install the recovery following what is said here in "Second Method (manual method)"
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.p...pdate_Guide#Second_Method_.28manual_method.29
BUT use this recovery http://mirrorbrain.cyanogenmod.com/cm/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-2.5.1.4-passion.img instead of the 3.0.0.5.
After that, flash this file
http://www.mediafire.com/?bxfijcp6f6bf1me
(it deeply wipes everything away, thank temasek for this stuff)
Then flash CM7 release and Gapps following what is said here
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/20115-cyanogenmod-7-for-nexus-one-v700-10-april-2011/
I hope this helps
I'll give a try, thanks for the tips
Hey Everyone,
I was just testing CM7 but I kept getting black screens after I locked the screen, so I went back to CWM and restored. The restore went fine but when I pressed 'Reboot phone now' it went into a bootloop. I then pulled the battery and tried wiping everything and restoring again. No success, still bootlooping.
So...any ideas?
<Edit> I flashed CWM with NVFlash (i have no idea why i did that) so now im on an older version of CWM and it cannot find my backups.

maybe u stored ur restore in the External SD...and it is not able to find it...maybe u can try to install ROM manager and flash the latest CWM via the ROM manager...did u try tht?
I cannot boot into my phone. The only thing I can access is my the old CWM that i got through NVFlash. Restoring worked but still bootlooped when I had the newer CWM.

As far as I remember....i think if u have stored your backup in the internal SD...then nvflash will do a wipe/....so u dont find it....do u have a backup in the computer which can be loaded to the EXTSD card and then try the restore....
Just a silly question:if u have restored....which backup u restored to???
Hey there. Thanks for your care and input. I've managed to fix my phone.
It happened to be that the CM7 I installed converted my phone to EXT4, I downloaded the EXT3 converter and now it's working.
Don't worry, your input is not wasted! I will still hit that thanks button.

Hi All,
I am in desperate need of help.
I have a nexus s. rooted, with cyanogenmod kernel and slimbean rom.
My friend has a galaxy s1 that had unrooted froyo.
A friend of his rooted it, and put gingerbread on it. I wanted to put slimbean on it for him.
I did so.
Except, that his mobile network wouldnt connect.
I googled, and found that this could be because the kernel is not compatible with the rom.
So I downloaded cyanogenmod kernel and flashed.
But this didnt work, because I think the download was corrupted or something.
I tried to re boot into clockwork, but it just got stock on the first loading screen.
Since then I have tried everything and have been googling for hours... I dont know what to do. I have tried so many different things.
Please can some guru help me figure out what to do?
My friend is pissed as hell at me, I told him it will be painless quick and easy. Thats how it was for me and i assumed same for him.
PLEASE!! I need HELP!! :'(
Edit: I reflashed semaphore and it now goes into cwm. But now when I flash the rom and reboot it, it just reboots automatically into cwm again. Anyone know where to go from here?
Thanks in advance,

It appears to be a bootloop. That means flashing messed with boot partition and you have to reflash boot. Is this phone i9000 or i9001?
Search for similar topics like: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1590747
If you can get to CWM or download mode nothing bad happend - you can repair everything, however it would be wise if you had backup of previous, working ROM
Calm down its fixable first you try to fix it without Odin by
- flashing slim bean again don't forget full wipe flash i9000.zip twice the first time it will reboot half way through at least it did for me
-then pull out the battery and boot into cwm
- flash both slim bean files
- this should get the phone starting again after that to get network working flash this file in cwm http://www.mediafire.com/?fbgxblhbip7bkuv it should get network running credit goes to pwneman for that
Let me know how it goes

Try to format your sdcard in fat32 filesystem (through Windows/CWM or any other various ways if this won't work)
Also try other sdcard...
If formatting card doesn't fix the problem try to reflash CWM via Odin in Download mode.
ok i did a hard reset and left batt out for a good few min and got the sdcard back again.
i followed the steps u said latrop and it didnt fix it... still booted back into cwm...
since i now have the sdcard back i am making a backup zip file of it just in case lol
@divibyzero
i followed that post but it didnt fix the problem
OK you will have to flash with Odin I'll get back to you with instructions

Wait, before you odin flash:
Let me get this straight, your rom .zip is on your external sd card? it has to be in your internal sd card.
From the recovery main menu, go to mounts & storage. From there, plug in your phone to your computer and select "Mount internal USB storage."
You'll be able to then copy the rom file into your internal sd card. While you're at it, I'd recommend X-Bean, as it's currently faster and more stable than SlimBean. Then, unmount your phone and return to the recovery menu and select install zip and choose the file you've just copied.
Please let me know how it goes.
@kngroo
thats what i did.. ive flashed tons of roms and kernels before on my nexus s...
its this galaxy s 1 that isnt working for some reason... it was meant to be a quick and painless proceedure which has turned into a nightmare
gonna probably have to format the sdcard now :*(
Hi All,
I wanna give a SERIOUS thank you to latrop.
This guy is a freaking legend. He just sat with me for almost 2 hours helping me sort out the phone. We did almost everything you can think of and then some... But ultimately it was latrops great experience and knowledge that helped save my ass here...
Phone is running full on slimbean rom with great reception etc.
Latrop... you are a legend!!!
Just wipe/factory reset and wipe cache
its work for me and maybe it would work with you too
I had a stock Optus firmware for my s5830 running 2.3.6 Gingerbread. I installed a zip off the internet to remove the stock Optus apps so I could root the phone, which i ended up doing.
I then installed Clockwork Mod 5, which installed successfully. After, i proceeded to install a custom ROM called "The Ultimatum", the installation went fine, i selected the kernel which didn't require an extra partition so it would not go into a bootloop. No errors were shown during installation.
I then rebooted my phone and now it is stuck into a bootloop. I thought "Oh yeah, i can just flash the custom 2.3.6 firmware back onto my device, which i have done many times". But to my surprise, my PC does not recognize my phone in download mode. I have tried using two cables as well as deleting drivers and reinstalling them.
If it helps, i once had ROM Manager installed as it said so on an online tutorial for my exact device. I did not use any features in it, but it is installed. Also when i mount the sd card to the computer, it is fully empty.
Anyone please help me with this, it would be greatly appreciated,

Thankyou for this, it must have been something with the USB port on my main laptop as I used my school laptop and it all worked fine. Without the sd card it went into another boot loop, Odin seemed to like the sd card :/ It has booted up fine.
Only problem now is when I apply the root zip SuperSU is not showing, I'll fully set up the device and then I'll see if it is a problem.

ok brother have fun then :laugh:
Hi, device is rooted, and clockworkmod recovery 6.0.4.5 installed.
ROM is JB, the official update from LG. Today device reported there is an update to the installed firmware.
I rebooted in CM recovery, took a nandroid backup, booted, and accepted to download the official update to my official JB rom. After downloading I was asked to reboot (in order to install), and the phone reboots to the CM recovery.
From there I don't know what to do. I have tried rebooting, but again find myself to the CM recovery. I have tried "reboot to bootloader" and get stuck at the LG boot screen logo with the message "Now Ready!" in tiny white letters on the upper left corner.
I would try "install zip" but I don't know where the downloaded update is (if it even is in an acceptable zip format)
Phone isn't bricked, I guess I can always restore from the recently taken backup, but I really would like to know if there is a way to install this update.
Thank you

You're right, but you know, sometimes you just can't nail the right keywords especially if its not your native language. I searched, but obviously not good enough.

Sadly, this seems to be the case.. bummer.
Thanks everyone
Not even my nandroid backup can help me get to where I was before? So much for nandroid being the ultimate backup, a "snapshot image" of the device...
So, what if, I use CM recovery to install a custom rom, and then restore from my nandroid backup (being the official JB) ?
Flash with kdz flasher original ROM then flash cwm you can put back your backup. I think the problem starts that the update pushes something in the boot section that is expecting an other (read original) recovery . when you installed cwm it boots up cwm so that's why an nandroid backup doesn't work I think ( to be honest I'm not 100% sure this is correct)

Have you yet followed the advice and installed the KDZ?
Trying to avoid that, as it seems too much work for a phone that was working fine, and stuck to recovery due to some silly boot flag or something.
Saw it as a chance to try cyanogenmod. But it seems having CM recovery and the cyanogenmod rom on the sd card won't cut it! Talk about failure..

I don't think you will have a choice. If you created the nandroid backup on your SD card then you aren't going to lose it, so just flash the KDZ, root again and install your backup, or accept the LG update and rebuild all your software again.
Yes, one thing is for sure. I had to install the KDZ to be able to proceed with anything..
It's just funny having a working CWM recovery and a cyanogen rom on the device and after flashing it, still not having a device that boots. A "recovery"/flash tool, should be able to "recover" from such a situation..

You can't blame the recovery. It is clearly stated many, many times that you should never attempt an official OTA update with a non-standard (rooted or recovery installed) device. On other devices you could even hard-brick AFAIK, so consider yourself lucky that you only had to reflash a KDZ and start again.
For restoring stock rom use this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2682146 I can confirm it works and it is (very) easy.
Yes that's what I used and I also confirm it works and is very easy.
