Bricked after ROM Flash - Galaxy Ace S5830 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I had a stock Optus firmware for my s5830 running 2.3.6 Gingerbread. I installed a zip off the internet to remove the stock Optus apps so I could root the phone, which i ended up doing.
I then installed Clockwork Mod 5, which installed successfully. After, i proceeded to install a custom ROM called "The Ultimatum", the installation went fine, i selected the kernel which didn't require an extra partition so it would not go into a bootloop. No errors were shown during installation.
I then rebooted my phone and now it is stuck into a bootloop. I thought "Oh yeah, i can just flash the custom 2.3.6 firmware back onto my device, which i have done many times". But to my surprise, my PC does not recognize my phone in download mode. I have tried using two cables as well as deleting drivers and reinstalling them.
If it helps, i once had ROM Manager installed as it said so on an online tutorial for my exact device. I did not use any features in it, but it is installed. Also when i mount the sd card to the computer, it is fully empty.
Anyone please help me with this, it would be greatly appreciated,

Thankyou for this, it must have been something with the USB port on my main laptop as I used my school laptop and it all worked fine. Without the sd card it went into another boot loop, Odin seemed to like the sd card :/ It has booted up fine.
Only problem now is when I apply the root zip SuperSU is not showing, I'll fully set up the device and then I'll see if it is a problem.

Hello guys!
I'm new to the forum, and a total noob when it comes to android. I have a VERY similar problemToday I installed the latest version of CM. Worked fine. I installed gapps. Now when I turn on the device, it just shoes the message and I can't do anything. I wanted to try reflashing a newer version of gapps, but I can't put it on my sd card, because my computer won't detect it anymore...I can't use my phone at all, I am starting to panic :/

unzip the rom with winrar you leave two folders that enters the system says and go to the folder that says-app-here clears-app-setup wizard again after that compress the two files that were decompressed - metainf--system-with-winrar-do not forget to put format .zip and you have the zip file to your sd put it, install it normally..
Unfortunately the message has stopped the setup wizard should no longer appear

HELP! - Stuck booting to Recovery after trying to flash CM10 :(

Hi,
I flashed my GT-i9000 (Firmware was Gingerbread BUJVY) using CF Root (CF-Root-XW_NEE_JVH-v3.2-CWM3RFS.tar) through ODIN.
All worked fine and I was able to boot into Recovery using the regular Volume Up+Home+Power.
I then proceeded to flash CM10 nightly (23/9/12) (from my external Micro SD card) by wiping data, wiping cache and wiping Dalvik Cache.
I then navigated to the zip file for CM10 and run it. It started ok then qiuckly the phone rebooted and rebooted into a newer version of CWM (6.0.1.4).
From here I cannot do anything at all!! It won't recognise my Micro SD now to even run the installation again
I'm hoping someone may be able to help, I would really appreciate it!
TIA!

Do you know what version is your Firmware? is it 2.3.3 or 2.3.6?, IF its 2.3.3 your boot loader needs to be updated to 2.3.6 for you use , If its already 2.3.6, than you should be able to use CWM recovery to reinstall the CM 10 from your SD card. (But by doing this you may lose your IMEI as you should do a progressive upgrade , like from GB 2.3.6>ICS CM9>JB) or flash a semaphore JB kernel
Easiest way out would be for you to use a JVU ROM to recover, safe your EFS, than proceed to CM 9 and than to CM 10...
you can get a rescue kit or JVU+CFRoot from My Android Collections and or a solution from My Android Solutions
Hi there,
I was on Gingerbread 2.3.6 before I ran the above.
I have gotten a bit further than the above. I managed to mount the phone as a USB whilst in CWM and put the CM10 zip file on the actual phone memory. I then wiped data/cache/dalvik and rerun the install. It installed but didn’t reboot itself, so I rebooted manually and then the Cyanogenmod logo started up and it booted into CM10. Looked ok apart from the Home Button didn’t work!!
Do you think I should still run the above??
Rooting this phone and flashing ROMS is more difficult than my Galaxy S3!!
Cheers

Since you are already on CM 10, you need to solve your home button problem, try doing a wipe in recovery, if fails, flash again the CM 10
Hmmm, it didn’t work.
What I’ve done since though is try to flash another ROM.
I’ve flashed the ‘xBean’ ROM with success, however, I did encounter the exact same problem when flashing the ROM as mentioned above
I wiped data/cache/dalvik and run the install for xBean. It stopped after the first install attempt and rebooted itself, however it just brought me back to the CWM screen (although this time different from the CM CWM).
So I wiped data/cache/dalvik, then run the install again. This time it went through the full install but again (like with CM) it didn’t rebooted automatically. I manually rebooted and then the xBean logo came up and booted in.
This time the home button is working, and pretty much everything else is too by the looks of it. So far so good!
I guess my question would be, why does the ‘ghost installs’ keep happening???

[Q] Wiped everything using TRWP, now stuck on startup screen

Hello, I'm kinda new to the android scene.
Yesterday, I wanted to restore my phone to factory settings but the s3 mini toolkit said that usb debugging was not on (but it was) so I thought I could just wipe everything using TRWP, boy was I wrong.
I tried to flash my phone back to stock via odin but my computer won't even detect the phone(uninstalled and installed phone firmware). I tried placing the md5 file into the microsd in hopes of flashing it via TRWP but it's not recognized either.
Did I brick my phone? lol
Phone does not recognise microsd or md5?
In first case, try ADB and push some custom rom to phone. Try with universal naked driver.
In second case, try .zip custom rom.
But if it is like TWRP for ASUS TF300, then wipe everything means everything, so you're doomed.

Do you even get a bootscreen? Its possible to factory reset in twrp but i guess you wiped the system partition too
thanks guys! it seems I solved the problem through further use of google
I just reflashed the rom that I was previously on with TRWP and everything works now woot!

[Q] Accidentally deleted my entire SD Card.

Hi all,
I accidentally (stupidly) deleted my entire SD card only Galaxy Gear 1 so my watch as no operating system.
I had previously installed the custom boot loader HERE
So I can access the modified bootloader without any problem and I can connect to odin and wondershare without any problems also. (wondershare is useless though because I cant enable USB debugging to access the device)
Is there any way I can get access to the SD card using the modified bootloader or odin? I would like to try and upload the Null rom zip file to the SD card and reinstall it using the boot loader's installer? Or do I have to reinstall the stock rom? If have to do that, I can use this guide right?
Also, I deleted the entire SD card and I have no OS on the device why does the bootloaders file manager say I only have 2.4gb free? What's happening with the other 1.6gb?
Thanks in advance all!
No matter, just flashed the stock rom and started again.
How?

[Q] rooted and flashed but unable to flash new rom

Hello!
I have a SGS I9000, which I rooted and flashed with Darky's ROM years ago. I can't really remember how/what I did, but it all worked out fine.
A week ago I tried to factory reset it, but the setup afterwards always crashes, therefore I'd like to flash it again (preferably paranoid android or cyanogenmod).
I have access to the download mode and the recovery mode. So I tried to copy the cyanogenmod zip to my external SD card and rebooted to the recovery mode, to install from zip. But the recovery mode states that there are no files on the external sd card.
Also, when I format the ext. sd card on the phone, it seems to work, but when inspecting the sd card on the computer afterwards, everything is still on there.
Any suggestions how to flash CM or PA on my phone?
Have you tried installing a fresh copy of Gingerbread via ODIN? You can try that. Flash GB, root it and then check if you still have problems.

I was unable to do so, I'll need to check some tutorials on that.
When I tried it, ODIN restarted my phone to download mode and then couldn't find it anymore.
