location problem at Froyo, please help

i cant use wireless network for location any more when i updated to froyo.
for example, i get "waiting for location" "your current location is temporarily unavailable" .
any ideas?
Did you update the radio when you flashed froyo?
I've had this issue on previous roms but not yet on froyo.
When this happens to me and a gps on/off doesnt fix it; I reboot the phone.
I've had that issue, but a wipe fixed it. It was about time for a wipe anyway...

wipe data? means i have to reinstall all the apps reset all the setup?
i tried something.
wipe data, no luck
reflash the froyo, no luck
wipe data and reflash Froyo, it works!
restore to previous CM505, it works!
restore to CM505, and flash Froyo, no luck........
what should i do if i want to keep my data and Froyo ?
I'm having the same problem. Came from CM5.0.6, no wipe, just flashed froyo and pretty much everything works (sweet!) except network location provider. GPS is fine. Network location just always times out.
Just like dirwdirw I'd like to keep my app data and settings; anyone figured out anything we can reset to make this work w/o wiping?
Use Titanium Backup. I made a thread in the apps forum asking for what could be moved and not have those issues. I didn't get answers but I did find it for myself and posted there.
My location doesn't work with launcher pro, only with the stock launcher.
Same here... Froyo on N1, and havent found any clue yet.
If someone has it, please share!
same here!
im starting to get really worried, i just read that FRF50's radio its official, and my cel sucks with it...
Just updated to FRF83 using Modaco's <android.modaco.com/content/google-nexus-one-nexusone-modaco-com/311896/24-jun-frf83-stock-rooted-deodex-superboot-repacks> update+root+insecure, still the same!
I really don't get why it's not working!
Yep, same problem here with Froyo. Had it with FRF50 and now with FRF83. I'm unable to have a location without GPS.
I did a complete wipe then flash, but nothing changed.

That solved it for me though. You're talking about a full wipe right? Cause indeed, dalvik wipe doesn't solve this issue.
Yes, a full wipe, a factory reset.
Will do it again... I may be lucky this time.

From the settings menu, or from recovery? From the menu it never worked for me.
I think I'll wait for CM6, wipe, and install it. It's too annoying to manually set the position of the weather widget.

From Recovery.
But I've just finished wiping and flashing again... and it works !
It didn't work when flashing FRF50. But when flashing FRF83 after a wipe, it's ok.
Thank's !

Factory reset questions

Just have a couple of Questions about doing a factory reset.
I flashed european jpo using kies and have not done a factory reset because all of my region settings and carrier settings and market access remained intact from eclair (amazing I know what were the chances).
So having now backed everything up using titanium backup I am keen to do a factory reset because I have some forced closes in the browser and it took a loooong time to settle down after I upgraded.
Will I keep all my settings with a factory reset? Apn's etc?
What settings are recommended for both factory reset and restore, so far I get to NOT restore system apps.
Also what exactly is a 'hard reset'?
Finally should I even bother my phone runs well, just my battery life is a bit crap and browser crashes a bit

No you lose all settings. APNs, and non standard apps / apks in system apps as well I think

In my opinion, now that you have backed up your stuff, I would reflash JPO and tick re-partition. This will wipe everything back to factory and start you off on a clean slate. That way you will know whether your FCs are due to a bug in the firmware, rom or APK.
Thank you for your help, phone is pretty damn stable now I deleted a couple of apps I suspected and fc's have stopped

Reset/deactivate/bypass Lockscreen? [SOLVED]

Situation: Mum's SGS was set up to require pattern unlock, but suddenly prompts a PIN input field - however it seems still to require the pattern, as the "you've done it wrong, try again in 30 seconds"-message still is talking about "unlock pattern" (see attached photo). The phone is neither rooted, nor is debugging enabled, and it is running stock outdated Android 2.3.x (pre-value pack, but I'm unsure about the exact version).
I know how to perform a factory reset, but I'd be interested in a way to deactivate/bypass/reset the lockscreen without wiping data. Is there a way?
Any help is highly appreciated.
Edit: And obviously it isn't offering the opportunity to simply unlock via the Google Account.
Okay, solved it via flashing kernel, and editing the according database manually.
Wipe factory reset you won't lose any of your files because the I9000 contains 2 partitions system and sd card factory reset will wipe system partition only

Read whole post. Already solved. And you do loose data, with a factory reset. It's the sense of a factory reset to delete data. This wasn't about keeping pictures, it was about keeping everything.
Thanks anyway.
reset/deactivate/bypass lockscreen?
Flashing the kernel didn't do the same thing as a factory reset? I'm my flashing experience that's what happens. I'd love to know what you did and how you did it to remove the lock screen as I have the same issue as you described and I CANNOT lose the data on the phone.

How to renew my device?

Hi, it's probably an easy question but might be useful to others and me.
Whenever I flash a new ROM, the phone feels very smooth, light and just as new..
But that feeling lasts barely a week and then you return to your usual daily slowness and laggish..
So I wanna make that but without really flashing a new ROM..
Usually before you flash the ROM, you wipe everything..
So what exactly can I wipe without deleting some important stuffs?
There's sure a thing I could wipe that just delete trash and cache(?) that pretty much do nothing..
Can anyone please explain what every option on the wipe list do and which are okay to be wiped without losing anything useful?
Thanks

Perhaps try wiping dalvik cache, that usually works for me..
"Wipe data/factory reset": deletes all pictures, videos, music and user apps. As if you just took it out of the box. If a custom ROM is installed and you reset, it will keep the ROM installed but delete all the user apps and data.
"Wipe cache partition" wipes the cache, it will not delete any personal or system files and will recreate its self after reboot.

It's very normal thing to get. More apps = more tasks = less RAM = slower device
If you use custom ROM would be better

No. The whole point of a factory reset is to wipe your device clean. Without backup, your data is lost.
