(Q) USCC Stock - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a USCC Stock rom? I see a few threads talking about one. But after a week of searching, it cant be found.

I am not familiar with one, but that doesn't mean a whole lot. There is a thread buried somewhere in the development forum that had a link to a private repository of the various different stock roms. Looking through the pages, I wasn't able to find it. But I am sure it is there somewhere.
Alternately, you could create a back up of the (presumably) stock rom that is on there now, so if you did flash something else you'd have a backup to fall back on

I've been searching for a stock of USCC for four months and I haven't been able to find anything... Seems it does not exist.

`Yes that is what I think. I wish I would have thought to back mine up before I switched to the VZ GB version. But oh well. It least it runs good.

[Q] Rooted & Flashed

I recently rooted and flashed my nexus one for the first time! It was really easy and I flashed CM6.1 to it. Can anyone recommend any other roms there are and maybe some of the different things that each rom contains? I am very curious to know what each offers. Also any rooted apps that anyone would be able to recommend would be great. Thanks in advance.
Look around the forums and you will find a bunch of them.
1) Read the ROMs page in Wiki (look at my signature).
2) Look in Development forum.
ROM Bible is also a good thread:

[Q] Rogers Captivate AIO toolbox question

Sorry for having to post this in the Q&A section but I believe I require 10 posts before being able to contribute to a development forum thread.
I'm looking to try out Andromeda 1.2 or 2.2 (not sure if I want to go Orange or not) and I came across the Captivate AIO toolbox tool/thread. It looks like the easiest method for putting a custom rom on the Captivate but I had a few questions:
1) It states it's capable of flashing you back to stock; is this truly Rogers stock without the ATT logo or will it put an i897 ATT branded stock in place?
2) It looks like even with the 2.6 version that people are still having issues with using it on the Rogers captivate. Bay_Wolf has suggested using the Odin proper for doing the flashing/master wipe. If that is indeed the requirement, is it Odin 3 or Odin 1 that I need to use for Rogers?
3) There are about 20 modem files to use. Is there a preferred one for Rogers phones?
I've read about a thousand threads and each of them has somewhat conflicting records of what works and what doesn't. I could try some trial and error but this is a work supplied phone that I can't afford to have offline for an extended period of time nor do I want to have an ATT logo flash up on it rendering it un-returnable should there be a problem. Yeah, I want my cake and be able to eat it too. It's a work supplied phone but please don't hold that against me.
I know I'm being a colossal pain/newb but I'm just trying to find a nice summary of info rather than having to scan literally hundreds of pages to find inconsistent reports of what's worked and what hasn't. I'm more than willing to offer to update the Rogers wiki on the phone with the results here so that future idiots such as myself can be pointed to the all answering wiki for this info.
Thanks very very much in advance and sorry for the newbish question.
Figured things out myself.
I used the new v3 AIO toolkit and very easily manage to flash the andromeda rom. However it looks like it's an ATT stock rather than Rogers. I'll have to look at fixing that at some point.

[Q] Flashing my new phone

So I just got my replacement phone, and it came stock with the kb1 froyo build. My previous captivates all came with 2.1, various builds, and was able to flash roms easily.
My question is this...is there anything I need to be aware of that's different when flashing with a kb1 build phone? I just don't want to mess anything up and void my warranty for good.
Also, I did a little bit of searching, but does anybody know of a thread with how to flash back to the stock kb1 build in case I need to return my phone again for some reason? If so, a link would be greatly appreciated.
I know these are probably stupid questions, but if you guys can provide some insight without flaming, that would be great.

Does nobody know this? I'm really itching to flash a custom rom, it's been too long since my last one.

Search is your friend. There must be a dozen threads on this. Best bet is to Odin back to stock 2.1 and proceed from there. 2.2 has a different recovery scheme that makes it a little more complicated. Read the sticky in Dev on how to flash a custom ROM.

quick flashing question...

first off, im sorry if this is common knowledge but after looking for a few i decided to ask. I recently flashed cognition 4.3 to my cappy and love it so far. I'm wanting to flash a few more ROMs after flashing my first rom of course.
My question is, do i need to restore to 2.1 via ODIN before I flash each ROM?
Also, I've seen it said that some ROMs can't be flashed the same as others. I used the method shown in this thread here :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=884364. Can anyone compile a list of ROMs that will flash via that method or something I just need to look out for before flashing a ROM?
I already have titanium backup pro so if i make a complete back up before I reflash, i can simply run the restore from there and my phone will essentially be right where i left it?
ok, that was more than one question....sorry if i didn't search hard enough for the answers
Why why why. Do ppl post questions in dev section.? This is not development related. I do suggest to flash stock first. Unless told not to by the dev. It helps keep it a clean flash.

You should really look harder if you have decided to dive into android development and flashing. You dont have to flash to stock everytime, and many people do it differently. Some of what you wrote shows you need a little more reading. Mods will move this, let the flaming begin.

bump..... Please guys, help me out. I tried rooting last night but failed, guess I tried the root from a different tab... so please help me out... I'm getting ready to smash this thing

Do you think that bumping your post two hours after posting it is courteous?
I just got a Galaxy Tab WiFi myself, but I did my research *before* I bought it. No Gingerbread is available, that I know of. There are not many alternative ROMs for the WiFi only model.
What did you use in your rooting attempt? The only two ways I know are with a Windows app or with z4root, an Android app. I haven't tried either one, here is a link to z4root on this forum.

I installed GB 2.3.3 using this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1083971
hope that helps
SuperOneClick should be able to help you root your Tab.
Here's the Noob Rooting Guide with links and downloads.
Always do your research. The Development forums will be one of your best resources for your Tab.

No offense but if you're going to criticize you might as well not even comment to avoid any frustrations or arguments as a result. Thank you for the link, I was able to find z4 and lag fix yesterday.... applied both but i might roll back on the lag fix since I have no haptic feedback now unless anyone knows of a fix? I wasn't able to find anything on Google... wifi only tab and p1010 aren't too popular searches.

*sigh* waiting for this too..
****ty Samsung , is it so hard to just make an official Gb for this little tab considering the workforce they have at their disposal.
At one point I had heard that the Sprint stock GB (2.3.4) update worked on the Wifi only tabs, but I don't have a wifi only to test with.
I haven't heard of any alternative roms for the wifi only version.

Check with Kies, see if you have a firmware update. I only have a P1000, but maybe it's similar.
oh yeah, give time for people to reply your thread. Don't be a spoiled kid.

EDIT: from other answers here the Sprint GB 2.3.4 ROM stock or rooted sounds the way to go, so it looks like this should work for you as it did for me on my Verizon CDMA tab.
It's hard to say for sure, experimentation is part of the fun, but killing the tab isn't. I didn't find any definitive answers on flashing a Sprint CDMA ROM on to a Verizon CDMA Galaxy Tab (for example), so I decided to try for myself:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1255339
I suspect doing a FULL ROM flash would be a *very* bad idea (it seems doing that with a GSM ROM on other (non-GSM) tabs KILLS it). However, the technique I used was only to apply the kernel and filesystems, so I would *think* if you had a backup from before (always best to have a backup anyway, right?) you could always revert. You may want to look around and check to see if stock WIFI images are out there (I don't know for sure) but the Voodoo or CwM (ClockworkMod) recovery backups should be fine either way.
Then if you apply the filesystem and kernel files from 2.3.4 and they don't work you should be able to revert (I would assume, I can certainly flash back and forth on mine). I would *think* the kernel supports vanilla hardware + CDMA additionally (i.e. you don't need it, but it doesn't hurt), but may be fine.
But again, unless you're prepared to take the risk, I cannot say for sure, you can wait and see if anyone else chimes in, but that's my take.

Lol thanks... I guess if someone has the time and patience to try it and it works then please let the rest of us p1010 owners know

I have the P1010 also and from what I've heard, the two models (P1010 and P1000) have different hardware which makes the latter model possible for the ginger update while ours likely will never get it.
Enjoy it for what it is. That's all I can say.

No offence but you are the one who was rude by bumping your topic after 2 hours and also accusing people who didnt answer as not courteous, so obviously you are going to get criticism.
Your problem is that you cant be bothered to go read or search and expect people to jump on your topic and bring all the info to you. This is XDA-developers, not tech support, try and at least help yourself first before demanding answers.
If anyone tests the spring gingerbread method and it works, please say so. xD Im too much of a coward to risk my tab.

You can save a flashable ROM in the sdcard. Then if the tab got bricked, you can insert the sdcard in and reflash again. But i don't recommend doing this because me myself never flashed my tab, only my nexus one.
