How I say launcher pro stop responding on every restart/shutdown i do a full wipe and formated sd card before installing gingerDX
Does it happen when you are looping between the first and last screens?
I had that problem sometimes, i solved it by switching the homescreen looping behaviour from Real to Virtual (Bounce)

no only in restart :/
I only had this issue if I have apps on my sdcard. But if you turn your phone on, wait about 10 or 15s, I don´t remember, you won´t get this FC. If you still have FC, it doesn´t make anything bad to your data or device, it only restart the laucher and everything will be fine

I'm running JAChero 2.3.3 and just have a few questions to see if what I'm experiencing is normal.
Firstly, when I'm at the home screen, the trackball cannot select any of the apps, just switch from one screen to the other. Kind of annoying sometimes cause I've gotten used to using it more than the touchscreen. I'm assuming this is a problem on all hero builds, but is there any way it can be fixed?
Secondly, every time I do an adb reboot, the phone boots up then about 5 or 10 seconds later, reboots again. Not that big a deal but just wondering whats happening.
That's really all the problems I have with it, everything else runs great.
Yes the first thing about selecting apps is normal. The second thing, could you be more clear? Do you mean like the htc screen shows again? or does your phone like actually vibrate and go through the 3 screens?

After rebooting through adb, the phone goes through all the boot loaders, then it starts loading, and while its loading it reboots itself. The once it reboots, everything works fine.
The rebooting is not normal. Dont really have a solution except a fresh format of your ext partition, a data wipe, and then a reflash.

I think I'll just live with it, don't really want to go through all the set up again and it isnt really causing any harm.
Thanks for the quick answers alritewhadeva
No problem Cash. Any other questions just PM me
Hi guys, I have had a G1 for over a year now, and it has been rooted for that long. I began using cyanogen's mods since 4.1 or so, and they have been rock solid until recently, when I upgraded from 4.2.6 to 4.2.7. Ever since that upgrade, my phone has been "freezing" and rebooting at seemingly random intervals.
First, let me try to define what I mean by freezing: this usually occurs when the phone is put to sleep, and it just refuses to wake up. The screen remains black, however my notification LEDs continue to flash (if they were flashing before). Sometimes, the phone freezes while I am using it; buttons stop responding, and opening/closing the keyboard does not change orientation. The phone usually gradually slows down to a crawl before this type of display-on freeze happens. In both cases, I am able to restart the phone by pressing call+end+menu buttons.
For the restarts: these started happening recently, I'll guess after 4.2.9. This always happen while I am using the phone. It'll pause for a second, like it's frozen, then restart back to the G1 boot screen a few seconds later.
I have tried wiping, repartitioning my SD card from scratch, using the phone without any of my apps installed, etc. The only thing that seems to fix this is if I downgrade back to 4.2.6. I have tried to narrow this down to the best of my ability, but I still cannot figure out the cause. My question is, how can I begin to troubleshoot this? Is there a log or some way for me to see what is the last thing the phone tried to do before it froze/rebooted? Right now, I don't even know where to begin.
well for the phone freezing it MIGHT be too many apps running in the background and eating up CPU usage...download advanced task killer from the market, it allows you to close apps that run in the background.
as for the random reboots, i am almost certain it has to do with the rom you are on. there should be an app called "log collecter" in your app tray, it comes with the rom, try and get the logcat from it when your phone reboots, and send that logcat to cyanogen via the link he provides on his thread.
2 things that I can think about:
1. Wipe you dalvik-cache
if that does not fix it
2. This may be a good time to re-format the ext 2/3/4 partition of your card and do a complete wipe.
I have this exact problem, it first started with random sd card errors "removed sd card" with an sd card inserted, and now the black screen of death, I reformatted and repartitioned my 8gb transcend class 6 card and flashed latest cyanogen. Today I got the black screen again so I used nandroid and went back to cyan 4.0.4, I still got the black screen freeze running old rom but so far sd card is working so not sure what the cause is, bad sd card? I just got this card a month ago... or phone going bad?
yeah, i get the freeze, its usually when i am running multiple resource eating apps. Try advanced task killer for a convenient notification bar click away from closing apps.
I also get the other problem where it wont wake up! Seems like we are running into the same problems under the same ROM. When it doesnt wake up i usually wait a few seconds and try pressing other buttons than the menu button to wake it up when its not turning on. A combination of waiting 5 seconds and trying a different button usually wakes it up.
Hey guys, thanks for the logcat info.
The most frustrating part about this problem is that it is unpredictable; it just happens when it feel like it and is impossible for me to reproduce, therefore I cannot figure out the cause nor can I tell whether or not any changes I make have any effect.
I do have ATK, and I use it regularly. It still doesn't stop this from happening. In fact, I installed ATK in order to try to solve this, which means before this started occuring, I did not even have ATK installed nor did I have this problem.
Can anyone tell if there were any significant changes from cyanogens 4.2.6 to 4.2.7? I see the changelogs, but most of it doesn't really mean anything to me because I don't understand what its talking about.
Yeah I usually get the freeze after installing a new rom onto my htc dream 32a. I just take out the battery and put it back in. Then I reboot and have no problems after that.
try going back to previous rom you had and see if the problem still exists... could possibly be an issue with latest update for rom...
Hi guys!
So my current configuration is in my sig, except that I was using v8 of Doc's JPO ROM and the latest Super Optimized Kernel at the time... But this has happened twice on two different kernels so I'm not sure that matters all that much.
I don't know what more to say then what simply happened during both those times:
The first time it happened, I was in the default Samsung Song Player app..I tried playing a file then my phone suddenly locked up, so I pulled the battery. Upon reboot, the phone was still working fine so I tried playing the file again...the phone again locks up and I pull the battery again. But this time when the phone reboots, it takes a looooong time in the shiney S boot part. Then much to my horror, I am taken to Phone Setup! :| And even worse, after I went through all that..I still saw my same wallpaper and such, but then my apps (not system apps) started force closing all over the place! (Without being run, they just suddenly start force closing while I was still at the homescreen and during phone setup..)
I had to factory reset to get my phone to work again..losing everything.
This happened again, this time I was in the Market just doing some updates..then again lock up -> battery pull -> reboot -> force closing apps everywhere -> factory reset to fix... :|
Any ideas why this happens and how to prevent this?
Addtl info: the first time this happened, I still didn't apply the system fix thing (cus it didn't exist at the time). The second time though, I followed the instructions to prevent the system corruption thing.
Hi,
not sure if the problem is général or ROM related...
This morning after new kernel flashing, I rebooted, and at the same time was talking to some people.. so I looked at my phone at least 5 min later, and the boot process was done for long, and SIM card was locked...
I didn't find how to manually launch the PIN code identification process, had to reboot...
Is there a way to do it without rebooting ?

Not sure about this, but I think turning flight mode on/off will bring the pin id screen back.

I think I have the solution to your problem. I am using pbs shell 3d, and sometimes while it restarts (after booting phone) the pin screen does not appear. It seems to happen with a few launcher or similars to spb shell. It has happen to me quit offen. The solution is to install a task killer. If it happens again, drag the task killer and kill all runningprogrmas. The pin screen will appear straight away.

Ok thanks, I'll try this too if needed.
So my brand new 24 hour old Xperia Z1 will not start and only goes to a blank screen with the backlight on. It does show the SONY splash screen before this for a second.
The only way to shut it down is to do an up volume and on button combo or to hit the red reset button.
I've tried starting with the SIM and SD Card out but it doesn't seem to make a difference.
The phone has pretty much not been used at all so I am a bit shocked. Is there any thing I can try? It was working last night.
24 hours out of the box, just send it back for a new one.
even if its starts working again, for a £600 device I would just send it back and say you are not happy and want a new one

I went off and left it for about 10 minutes and it did finally restart. I suppose there is some sort of software conflict issue going on.
I did a factory wipe and it runs like lightning now. No idea which app is causing the conflict.

This is one of the fastest phones on the market and this shouldn't be happening. After I did my restore I set up again and synched and auto-updated apps and I had the same problem. I then tried deleting all of my uploaded apps one by one until they were all gone but this didn't help and the boot times were still about 5 minutes, often with the phone booting without remembering the brightness setting or even not booting at all.
So I did a factory reset again but this time did not account synch on setup or auto update apps and that seems to have fixed it for me. The phone is very fast and boots in under 30 seconds now, and runs without any lag whatsoever. I wish I could identify specifically what the issue is but so far no luck.
