What camera app do you use? - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm using CM7.0.3 and the default camera app isn't all that great. What camera app are you using? Is there anything out there that provides better results and performance for the N1 camera hardware?

I have been happy with Camera360. I don't particularly like the startup of it, but it does take great pictures.

I've been using "little photo" for a while, and it works nicely . It's free, and it uses to be upgraded nearly each week.

i m using pudding camera.

BUMP..
the miui and sense cameras are a billion times better than stock android.. the miui camera has been ported for cm7 for other phones but i guess not many people are interested here

I have tried to install the MIUI camera apk a couple times and it never installs. Is there a trick to it or is it just not working for me?

I dont know but probably its not very easy because it hasn´t been done, I think its necessary the htc framework or something..
I tried a lot of camera apps, I´m tented to create a camera thread, i tested vignette, camera 360 pro, camera zoom fx, lgcamera and none has face detection for example..

You're right in the Desire and DHD is the Cam from HTC, and without Sense Framework and Sense it won't work at all
I tried some thinks but without succes
It's frustrating, let me know if you found a decent camera app with face recognition and autoportrait.. but probably will have to wait for a sense gingerbread release..

Any camera app out there has a full screen viewfinder? Like those on HTC Sense camera.

Samsung Camera app on CM7 (or similar)

Is there a way to install Samsung camera or a similar camera app on CM7 ? On market i didn't find anything similar with the same features...
The Samsung cam cannot be installed on cm7. However either the cm7 camera or the miui camera are quite serviceable. I also use Vignette when in the mood.
Is there some feature you are specifically looking for?

I like the smile detection and "cosmetic" effect in Samsung camera app. I also bought camera 360 that was very good but latest versions are really buggy. I've tried miui camera seems good but i didn't realized how to switch from Chinese to English or Italian language

Best camera app for DHD on ICS

Hello all.
Did somebody came up yet with a better solution than Camera Zoom FX (can be paid)?
It could be nice to have something like FX, but with touch to focus, sharpness options and some video recorder (as a seperate app) which could do 720p (?)
PS. Is it just me, or is there barely any difference compared HTC 5 and 8 mpx cameras?
I mean, look at these http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_desire-review-468p9.php
try these
am using UCam ultra which is working fine with more light spaces. where as in less light you will be seeing blurred or some dark pixels...
you can go for multi lens camera also. its different and funny
Thanks, will look at it.
Miui gb camera. You'll have to trouble shoot to get it working properly, but after that picture clarity is on par with HTC sense's camera.

Also Camera 360 is not bad either. A lot of options and good (I think) quality.
Still, in low light the pictures are quite bad, but I think that is a problem of the phone, not the camera app (I have tried several, the same result).
I use camera pro app. Works flawless

In my opinion the "UCam-App" is the best

For some reasons, for all of apps above, there are glitches issue.
Ucam seems awesome, clean interface, useful features. Too bad it doensn't work, it restart right after I taken picture of it.
I think it's a kernel issue if Ucam is force closing.'Cause the app "use" the stock camera to take pictures. And if you're stock camera is buggy, a 3rd app wouldn't work. Tell me if i'm wrong

I get Ucam v2.3 force close only on Lord's IceCold. But works very good with Ucam v1.6.
JellyBean MIUI ROM ported for DHD has properly working touch to focus function with what seems to be the stock AOSP camera... It's a shame tho this ROM has many visual bugs, and using any other app that uses camera (instagram, barcode scanners..) is almost impossible as they give huge artifacts...
The question is, is it possible to somehow port camera used in MIUI JB ROM to AOSP ROMS and not f&^* up qcode scanners?

[Q] Alternate to stock camera?

So I'm coming from the Razr M, which was never a top end device even when it was released a couple years ago, but I like it's cam. I've noticed that, and maybe it's just me, but I really don't like how the Moto X pictures come out comparatively. I'm not sure if it's the app itself or the camera. I'd assume it's a better camera than I have on a 2 year old device. Is there an alternative camera app that maximizes the camera hardware? I've tried Focal but not a huge fan. Most of the other camera apps seem to focus on filters and editing. Which is great but I am just looking for a camera app that is better than stock. Either that or a tutorial on the stock app settings. If I was rooted I'd just try my Razr M cam. But not going to root this one for a good while. Any help would be appreciated m

Fv5 works well, but nothing launches as fast as the stock camera and you have to manually adjust settings to see an improvement. The biggest issue is the stock camera cranks up the ISO for some reason. The 4.4.2 update makes it less severe however and I've gotten adequate or better quality since the update.
Definitely 4.4.2 improved the camera. But I'm using better camera anyway....I really like it.

Remember that a lot of camera apps limit your mp to like 2....so a little hard to judge quality. Kinda dumb that they do that. Do a full version time limit trial would make more sense.

I will give a +1 to fv5. I have tried probably 20 camera apps on this phone, and fv5 is the winner for me. It gives solidly dependable results.

For those giving a thumbs up to fv5, I assume you are referring to the paid version, correct? If so, what mp is the output of the paid version?

Stock or is there some better for nexus 7 specifically?

You mean Nexus 6? I use stock.
http://www.droid-life.com/2015/01/1...ext-purchase-if-you-own-a-nexus-5-or-nexus-6/ looks promising but lack of features.
Gives me hope that a better camera software will be available because stock takes awhile to take a shot.
I'm using Camera FV-5. I love the DSLR type controls.

16:9 would be nice. Obviously there will be no HDR + which I use mostly... Not sure if they'll do true HDR in the future.
i use the google camera and aosp camera. a better camera is good, since they started using the api2 with it. but it has an issue with focusing at the moment.
Manual Camera by GD Software is best overall camera. Worth every penny. You can find on App Store.
The camera for nexus is going to update with the new api's. You can Google it and its being developed on as we speak. Cheers

Using FV-5 for the RAW format captures if it's a photo I'll want to keep. Stock camera if I have to snap a photo to share on hangouts or FB.

I bought it but I hate how the settings do not save
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA Free mobile app
I've read about Manual Camera and how there are a few major issues with it (no front camera access, no videos, no saving of settings etc) but the positives are very good too (fast, good control, RAW). With a few updates it could become the best camera for the Nexus 6.
Reports that Google are updating the camera aren't all that informative and I dont expect the stock Google camera to have dramatic changes in post-processing abilities, speed, options or anything else. They MIGHT add RAW, but then the post-processing of photos through the stock camera (as well as speed) do not compared to other cameras out there (especially on other phones...Note 4, 6+ etc.).
If I were anyone wanting a new camera experience, I'd keep an eye on Manual Camera.
I can't help but feel the RAW thing is a bit of a gimmick on a phone though, and I say that as someone who shoots exclusively in RAW.
The benefits of using RAW are negated by the relative lack of quality in the camera itself (Compared with a DSLR for example) so realistically, I think it's a catchy term that'll appeal to those who aren't a big fan of the stock camera.
