I'm looking for a stock firmware so Kies can upgrade my firmwares again. Unfortunately I haven't written down the firmware codes before I flashed custom firmwares.
I'm looking for any version which kies recognizes in my area. I bought the tab in The Netherlands without simlock or brands, just plain Samsung. Anyone favours to help me out?
If you connect your tab to kies what is it says? This firmware cannot be updated? Or This is the latest firmware?

I live also in holland if anyone gives me instructions on how to backup my stockfirmware (without my private info) i'll be glad to help. I have a rooted stock firmware with titanium backup installed.

I got cannot update, but after a clean install of Chainfires latest stock rom and changing the CSC to XEU I got it working. Now kies says This is the latest firmware. Exactly the way I wanted it to have.

this is my first thread on xda,
i just have a few questions please answer me if you know bout it.
I bought i9000 from uk which was Orange UK branded. I flashed it to jm5
and now i want to update the firmware to Froyo. However Kies says i have no
update available (which i think its because i flashed with odin)
so heres my questions.
1. i hear if i update it with KIES Registry Hack, i will have wrong IMEI. How can i make my KIES to update my phone to froyo (or at least make it give me any updates) without breaking my IMEI and other things??
2. is there any way i can restore my original firmware which is Orange UK branded?
3. what is the Latest official firmware that's out in UK or in europe?
Why don't you flash froyo then?
I tried i way with the new kies.
I flashed the oldest firmware i could find and it the used the new kies and it did find an update to the latest froyo.
This didn't work before for me.

It worked for me. I did look at samfirmware.com for the oldest firmware. Download it and flashed with odin.
Then kies did think it was so old so i needed froyo. Lol

I have one more question, I am currently using xwjm9 and I got xxje2 for the oldest firmware but I couldn't downgrade it. I guess its because there's only Code file (no csc and modem). is that why I can't downgrade? What should I do? Thank you.

You need a full firmware.
You also need to use pit 512 and use re-partition ticked.
Then wipe the cache and great the internal card and do a factory reset.
That's makevthe phone clean and kies should now upgrade without problem.

Thank you for your help, but. ughh it doesn't work somehow. is it because
i'm trying to update the phone from uk in canada?
I want to restore my SGS to stock firmware, so it works with Kies etc, as if I've not installed custom roms on it.
Which is the best route to go with this (e.g. which firmware version), preferably Froyo or Eclair.
Thanks!
Use Odin and install one of the Stock, or stock deodexed ROMs. Or if you want to revert back to original Vodafone ROM then check http://www.samfirmware.com to see if they have it. All stock firmware should work with Kies. Out of curiosity, why do you need Kies ? I never use it.

You can use Check Fus Downloader to download lots of stock roms. It depends on what country and carrier.

JPY did the trick, was correctly recognised by Kies and offered me the Gingerbread upgrade

Stock SGS firmware for EU is now Gingerbread JVO. Connects to Kies as normal.

The reason I wanted to install an earlier firmware was just to ensure the phone was correctly identified by Kies, and the Kies firmware update process would complete ok.
I'm probably going to sell the phone, hence need to make sure it's in "factory" working order.
Well from factory, all eu uk sgs phones will be shipping with jvo...

My phone was running a custom rom yesterday. Flashed froyo jpy when I had issues yesterday. connected it to kies and it gave me gingerbread jvo. No spoofs. It just worked. Now back on simply honey but at least I have a route out now!
How about an asian ROM that works with Kies Firmware Update?
I Flashed back to DXJF4 to try to update my firmware to at least DXJPA via Kies but the Update button is greyed out.
Hi all,
I've got an unbranded Galaxy S i9000 handset which has the stock Froyo VNZ (Vodafone New Zealand) firmware on it, would using the Kies registry spoof to XEU work fine for this to get Gingerbread?
Also, if I run a factory restore on it after upgrading the firmware will it revert back to Froyo or stay on Gingerbread?
Cheers
Not sure if the registry hack will work.
I use odin to flash gingerbread, have a read of the guide:
http://www.theandroidsoul.com/how-to-install-xxjvo-android-2-3-3-gingerbread-rom-on-your-galaxy-s/
After you have installed gingerbread, doing a factory reset will not revert back to froyo.

Ah OK, so does that mean any of the Gingerbread firmwares will work? (e.g. other region's firmwares from Kies in addition to the ones like you linked to) I've read about people spoofing their region code and using the Kies supplied firmwares but am not really sure if any faked region will work on my phone's region.
What's the best way to go back to the stock firmware if something goes wrong?
Thanks for your help!
A good guide to read, to get a idea on how to install/flash using Odin. Its really important that you can get into Download Mode and recovery mode, download mode is needed to use Odin.

You could wait for Gingerbread to be released by VFNZ via Kies, no idea when that might be.
If you have a Galaxy S i9000 you can flash the JVK, JVB or JVO firmwares. The differences are mainly the included apps (daily info yes/no, some country-specific app, and swype languages), and the carrier configurations on the CSC.
You can always create the APN manually if you know the values for your carrier. I'm using JVO with XEU code right now, APN created manually.
Thanks for the replies guys, ended up downloading the JVO (XEU) firmware using Fus Downloader and flashed using Odin, works perfectly!
Be aware that JVO suffers from serious battery drain issue though..
Okey, first of all, I'm a complete noob when it comes to this, so I need some help.
After long browsing I was able to root my Samsung Galaxy.
Now I want to update my Galaxy from 2.2 to Gingerbread.
Since I rooted my Galaxy it won't connect to Kies anymore, so I guess Kies won't work.
I have an Samsung Galaxy S I9000,
FROXO.XWJPA,
Kernel Version 2.6.32.9
Is it possible to update, if yes, how?
Thanks
anyone? :l

Download a FW from Samfirmware, the latest is I9000XXJVR (Its 2.3.4), then via Odin you flash a 3 file's, its CODE, MODEM and CSC, and pit file and tick re-partition
Xooley,
I'm new on the forums so cant post any links but if you search for "how to use Odin" then it's really not that difficult.
The biggest decision you have is whether to stick with a "stock" copy of firmware i.e released by the manufacturer or install one of the modded versions from the hard working developers on XDA.
if you have a rooted phone then this wouldn't normally prevent KIES from working, so it might be that your carrier (orange?) hasn't release a Gingerbread version yet.
You can get most stock roms from samfirmwares as stated above. If you've never installed a rom before, make sure you read about it (checked youtube) to see if there are any problems with the one that you have chosen.
best of luck
Hi people. I unrooted my Note using one of Dr Ketans stock roms and PC Odin. All good. Next connected to Kies to see if I could update. Kies recognised the phone but said that by phone can no longer be updated via Kies. Is that how it is after using Odin? Or is there a work-around for that? Or do I have to update with Odin from now on? Or flash myself when the Note update is released. Advice please. Thanks in advance.

If your CSC is not set according your region N/OR Your installed ROM is not yet released for your region, Kies won't recognise it.
e.g. In India Kies released ROM is DDLB2, N previosly it was XXKL3, N before that XXKK3
Now
If at present my Installed ROM is one of abve 3 N my CSC is different
OR
My CSC is set to India but Installed ROM is not 1 of above three
Then Kies says same msg as you said.
So to get update via kies /OTA then
My ROM should be 1 of three (DDLB2/XXKL3/XXKK1 for India) as well my CSC should be set to India(INU), Then only i can get it.
Thanks, I'll check and see.
