Hi people. I unrooted my Note using one of Dr Ketans stock roms and PC Odin. All good. Next connected to Kies to see if I could update. Kies recognised the phone but said that by phone can no longer be updated via Kies. Is that how it is after using Odin? Or is there a work-around for that? Or do I have to update with Odin from now on? Or flash myself when the Note update is released. Advice please. Thanks in advance.

If your CSC is not set according your region N/OR Your installed ROM is not yet released for your region, Kies won't recognise it.
e.g. In India Kies released ROM is DDLB2, N previosly it was XXKL3, N before that XXKK3
Now
If at present my Installed ROM is one of abve 3 N my CSC is different
OR
My CSC is set to India but Installed ROM is not 1 of above three
Then Kies says same msg as you said.
So to get update via kies /OTA then
My ROM should be 1 of three (DDLB2/XXKL3/XXKK1 for India) as well my CSC should be set to India(INU), Then only i can get it.
Thanks, I'll check and see.

this is my first thread on xda,
i just have a few questions please answer me if you know bout it.
I bought i9000 from uk which was Orange UK branded. I flashed it to jm5
and now i want to update the firmware to Froyo. However Kies says i have no
update available (which i think its because i flashed with odin)
so heres my questions.
1. i hear if i update it with KIES Registry Hack, i will have wrong IMEI. How can i make my KIES to update my phone to froyo (or at least make it give me any updates) without breaking my IMEI and other things??
2. is there any way i can restore my original firmware which is Orange UK branded?
3. what is the Latest official firmware that's out in UK or in europe?
Why don't you flash froyo then?
I tried i way with the new kies.
I flashed the oldest firmware i could find and it the used the new kies and it did find an update to the latest froyo.
This didn't work before for me.

It worked for me. I did look at samfirmware.com for the oldest firmware. Download it and flashed with odin.
Then kies did think it was so old so i needed froyo. Lol

I have one more question, I am currently using xwjm9 and I got xxje2 for the oldest firmware but I couldn't downgrade it. I guess its because there's only Code file (no csc and modem). is that why I can't downgrade? What should I do? Thank you.

You need a full firmware.
You also need to use pit 512 and use re-partition ticked.
Then wipe the cache and great the internal card and do a factory reset.
That's makevthe phone clean and kies should now upgrade without problem.

Thank you for your help, but. ughh it doesn't work somehow. is it because
i'm trying to update the phone from uk in canada?
yesterday i bought galaxy s from Egypt it has android 2.2.1 Froyo when i connected it to kies it says his device cannot be updated i installed Kies2.0 Registry Patcher v.1.8.0.0 now it says there is new update when i click update and it download firmware upgrade components it says again this device cannot be updated
Never liked Kies, it won't even identify my phone, tried every driver, it just hung with "device manager" error or something similar.
so there is no fix for this??
Maybe there is, I just don't use at all
any help???
What country are you in?

Egypt.....
Maybe there is no update yet available for your phone.
You should wait or flash a new firmware via Odin (Thats what I did because Kies was a pain in the butt)

wut is the difference between the official firmware updated by kies and the rom installed by odin ??
on samfirmware i found 3 .pit files which one shud i use??
Galaxy S / .PIT File: DOWNLOAD. (512)
Galaxy S / .PIT File: DOWNLOAD. (513)
Galaxy S / .PIT File: DOWNLOAD. (803)
nvm i got it
I always use the 512.pit
Difference between Odin and Kies: with Odin you can nearly flash everything, with Kies just official Samsung-ROMs.

so wuts better?? rom from samfirmware or the official rom by kies??
Hm, there is nearly no difference between official 2.3.3 and inofficial 2.3.4. If you like flashing, flash 2.3.4, if not --> 2.3.3 with Kies.

The only tolerable usage of Kies for me has been just for the USB drivers on the computer. Always using the ODIn version of the firmware, I can't say for sure but theres no difference in the firmware updated through Kies and ODIN (u can download them from samfirmware.com), but installation through ODIN has always been fast, error free and neat.

Use the 512 pit.
Use the pit file that corresponds to the firmware, they are all shown I think ....nearly always 512 but there are exceptions

I'm looking for a stock firmware so Kies can upgrade my firmwares again. Unfortunately I haven't written down the firmware codes before I flashed custom firmwares.
I'm looking for any version which kies recognizes in my area. I bought the tab in The Netherlands without simlock or brands, just plain Samsung. Anyone favours to help me out?
If you connect your tab to kies what is it says? This firmware cannot be updated? Or This is the latest firmware?

I live also in holland if anyone gives me instructions on how to backup my stockfirmware (without my private info) i'll be glad to help. I have a rooted stock firmware with titanium backup installed.

I got cannot update, but after a clean install of Chainfires latest stock rom and changing the CSC to XEU I got it working. Now kies says This is the latest firmware. Exactly the way I wanted it to have.
how to update my galaxy note to lastest ics?
Charge your phone to 100% Then connect your kies to latest version 2.0+ with usb cable.Update the firmware. From there you will be able to update to the latest version.

i download the lastest kies alr but cannot connect to my phone....
anyway to solve this problem?
Remove you usb and insert it back again or restart your phone. It takes time to detect your phone. Or try with usb debugging.

AFAIK this would only work if the update is available in your region.
use checkfus to download the rom of choice and use pc odin to upgrade as its official firmware there will be no custom binary counter issue
Hello everybody; I have a Galaxy Note N7000 with android 4.0.3 with the following characteristics:
- PDA:LPY / Phone: LPT / CSC: LP5 (PHE) (unbranded from spain) and band version is N7000XXLPT
Two days ago i checked if there is an update via OTA and i have found a new one with a download of 549.02 MB. I accepted the install and after the rebooting it says that there is an error and advised me to update it with Kies. But in Kies there isn't any proposed update.
I tried twice without success. What should i do ?
Thanks an advance.
if your phone is rooted and has a custom recovery then it wont install the OTA

No isn't rooted and have never been rooted before
in that case download the latest rom from samfirmware.com and flash it using Odin if you want to update.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
My question. Why i'm in this situation? Usually when there is an update it occurs in Kies and OTA in the same time, or only on Kies but never in OTA only
recent update may be. not yet released for kies. should be there in couple of days
Thank you so much
always on OTA and nothing in Kies for a week now !!!
is it normal?
I can not update via ota too.
My note has an official 4.0.3 android.
Don't u think that maybe a software (for example my avast anti virus) prevent my note to update?
Should i factory reset?
As per Sammobile.com your firmware for PHE is not updated to JB.
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/?model=GT-N7000&pcode=PHE#firmware
There is no JB update for Spain yet. If you really want JB I suggest use Germany LT4 and flash it using ODIN. Or
Try this:

Not completely true: the new XXLT5 from today has PHE as CSC for Spain and as default CSC Portugal (TPH).
I confirm, finally the update on Kies is online.
I'm updating now my Note.
However i don't know if it's a good one.
According to Samobile the version is PDA: N7000XXLSZ CSC: N7000XXLS4 Is it the good one like German?
It don't want to update nor in OTA nor in Kies. Should i reset my phone?
No Idea ?

Hi, i finally successfully updated my N7000 to JB 4.1.2
I used ODIN 3.07 and downloaded from sammobile the new firmware of my region.
Updating took about 25 minutes. It's not hard at all and all my data are there after rebooting.

How can i acheive the update file to use in odin.
Please put the link whrre u download the update file from.
Hello, it's from http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/
1- you enter the reference of the phone model, in our case it's N7000
2- According to the region of your phone firmware you should choose the exact firmware (be careful when choosing, it's very important)
