Google News and Weather app? - Motorola Droid 3

Has anyone had any luck with getting the Google News & Weather app/widget loaded onto the Droid 3? That widget was by far the best widget that taps into Google News feeds, and I miss it.

Awesome! Thanks man. That is perfect.
Now, if only we could get an unlocked bootloader, root access, and a way to get rid of all of this bloatware.....

Who made this app??? Its awesome

Google made it.
I don't know why it is included on some phones / ROMs, but not others. But it is by far, the best news & weather app that I have used.

Google News and Weather Widget - Droid 4
Thanks for posting this *.apk! It works great on my new Droid 4 (XT894). I really missed it after upgrading from original Droid (A855).

Does the widget auto-update for you? I'm thinking of downloading this onto my D4 as well but it never used to update on my D1 until I manually clicked on the widget or rebooted.

It auto-updates for me. Just make sure you have it enabled in the settings. I set mine to refresh every 3 hours.
One problem that started happening a month or so ago is the weather update is hit or miss now (more often a miss). The news portion always updates but the weather often says " Sorry. Weather currently unavailable."

The snkbitten GenieWidget.apk doesn't work on my Razr. It crashes when it starts. Does this version have a virus?

I doubt it has a virus, it probably just doesn't work on anything newer than Android GB. I'm guessing your Razr has ICS or JB on it.

[ROM] Lithium Mod 0.0.4 in ROM Manager

Note: I am in no way associated with the authors of this ROM.
While perusing ROM Manager this morning I stumbled upon a new entry. Attempts to uncover any useful details about the 0.0.4 release of Lithium Mod proved fruitless, and yet curiosity got the best of me (as it musually does with my Inc). I've installed It and thus far am impressed with a lean, stable AOSP build with some interesting tweaks built in.
Please reply with any usage reports or pertinent details concerning this release, whether it be stock or modded in any way you see fit.
Obligatory link:
ROM MANAGER
Attributes discovered thus far:
-Customized power menu
-Nifty boot animation
-15 second boot time
-310MB free memory on boot
-Red Clock font I can't change?

Very sure, actually reflashed it (and am still on it) to make sure. This is all I have in the app drawer:
Browser, calculator, calendar, camera, clock, contacts, dev tools, email, gallery, lithiummod, messaging, music, phone, search, settings, spareparts, speech recorder, superuser, voice dialer.
I even went to a site (appbrain) and tried to download a random app (astro free) from market and it brought me to a page saying "Web page not available The Web page at market://details? id=com.metago.astro&referrer=utm_source might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address. Here are some suggestions: Check to make sure your device has a signal and data connection Reload this web page later. View a cached copy of the web page from Google"... I have the blue version of Lithium, if that matters at all. Is it just hidden somewhere obscure? I've looked around in dev tools and lithiummod, but maybe it was too general? Either way, I don't see market under settings>applications>manage applications>all... So yeah, any help?
EDIT: Downloaded Astro from 4Shared, so I could access Titanium and install it, so I can get all of my other apps, just not market lol...
Need to install Google apps
Alright, off to rom manager! Thanks.

WeatherBug Issues

I was just wondering if anyone else is having the same issue as I am with weatherbug. It seems as if it no longer is updating and the specified intervals and you have to go in the app and manually refresh it. Anyone else having this issue and if you are have you found any solution to it?
Same problem, no response from developers...
Sad situation, nothing we can do but complain.
Mind started randomly doing this after the last update too.
Most of the time it works properly, but some times I will check it and it hasn't updated for a day. It's weird because the thing used to be flawless.
I was also having this issue randomly not updating I unistalled it
Were you guys trying both accuweather and google? I know google isn't as reliable as accuweather with this app.

Its not the weather, its The app that is not updating. The support contacted me and told me to check if any task killers are killing the app and if that doesn't work to reinstall. Well I don't use a task killer and reinstalation doesn't work. I've also noticed that if the phone is asleep for a long time with no network activity it doesn't update but if your using the phone it does update on its own

Could be gingy. I know that for example the Sony Ericsson LiveView cannot connect via BT to it as of now, so it would not surprise me. Have you notified the dev if their app is indeed gingerbread compatible?
I recall that when Froyo went live or ROM flashable for me, lol...Weatherbug had similar issues until they updated the apk.

Make sure you didn't move the WeatherBug app to SD Card (via Froyo method, a2ext should be fine) because that will kill the service quickly.

Yes. You have to have a computer with adb, android sdk, Java dev kit setup. You have to patch services.jar to get 100% its all in the op but the part about setting up the environment variables with Java and adb. Google it...if you don't know I mean...its all there. Hope this helped. Let me know if you need anymore help.

Look up runandhide05 his dev host site has all his works and one is for g now xyboard. Before you flash it with safesteap rename the existing google voice actions or googlequicksearch box by adding bak to the name. After you flash it rename it to re install it. Don't set any defaults because the microphone will go away if you don on homescreen and it will say google/Google. Looks bad. Make sure you have the right google text to speech engine and all is well. Hope this is what you wanted.

I got Gnow partially working, its an older version, and no voice. Whatever I'm too lazy to take it further. Back to old search.

Yes I know. Shameful. But its Motorola's fault for using blur and locking bootloader and no expandable memory. XOOM 1 is the first tablet using android and purely google like nexus line. 3+ years and still tons of dev support and even stock jb. I got one 2 days after release, loved it, that's why I got the xoom2. But only the name is like the original and the rest sucks.
Anyway...just dig around and you will find a lot to work with. Xposed allows several "rom - like " mods on stock ui.

Most of the Xposed things I tried didn't really work but I'll try.
All I want is a 1% battery mod and the Jelly Bean themed nav bar. But I can't seem to find any of those. This 1% battery mod doesn't work for me.

Accuweather Widget - Gear Refresh Problem

Hello all, I've been using my Galaxy Gear with my Galaxy Note II for a month. Everything is perfect, Except the Weather Clock on Gear is not refreshing. Does someone have the same problem and the solution. ??
I had to put the weather widget on my home screen and then it started working. If you don't have the weather widget on your home screen put it on there and see if that works.

No the widget is custom Note III widget, came with DN3 custom rom.

I have exactly the same issue on my Note 2 running DN3.1.1. It used to work fine. I suspect it has something to do with the DN update to 3.1.
I have the same problem with my Note 2. I was told that if the Accuweather is modded in any way it will not update the Gear. I've tried several different things to get it to work but nothing helped. Went back to the leaked AT&T 4.3 firmware and it works fine. I really want to go back to Skynote4.3 N3 for the Note 3 features but the weather is bugging the crap out of me.
Mine doesn't update also unless I refresh the widget on my note 3. Im using the stock weather widge abd have it set up to auto refresh every 1 hr but still not working. Hope theres a fix to this.

Well I tried this one, neither it worked with Gear on my 4.3.1 DN3 Rom phone, nor the edges of the widget were proper. Yet I found a solution to refresh but it's burdensome. Cos you need to clear Data and Cache both widget app and the Gear's weather provider app on Settings-Apps. Anyway it works and you have to set the location from beginning after all.

I can only use the watch face supplied to me by Samsung, there are no alternatives.
Yes I know there is Null, but it looks like too much work for me to bother.
From what I read, unless I am wrong even if I went through all the trouble, it is my understanding for devices that have no bluetooth tethering they have no internet access.
Maybe a few hours ( Really not that much trouble, just need to do it )
