Has anyone had any luck with getting the Google News & Weather app/widget loaded onto the Droid 3? That widget was by far the best widget that taps into Google News feeds, and I miss it.

Awesome! Thanks man. That is perfect.
Now, if only we could get an unlocked bootloader, root access, and a way to get rid of all of this bloatware.....

Who made this app??? Its awesome

Google made it.
I don't know why it is included on some phones / ROMs, but not others. But it is by far, the best news & weather app that I have used.
Google News and Weather Widget - Droid 4
Thanks for posting this *.apk! It works great on my new Droid 4 (XT894). I really missed it after upgrading from original Droid (A855).

Does the widget auto-update for you? I'm thinking of downloading this onto my D4 as well but it never used to update on my D1 until I manually clicked on the widget or rebooted.
It auto-updates for me. Just make sure you have it enabled in the settings. I set mine to refresh every 3 hours.
One problem that started happening a month or so ago is the weather update is hit or miss now (more often a miss). The news portion always updates but the weather often says " Sorry. Weather currently unavailable."
The snkbitten GenieWidget.apk doesn't work on my Razr. It crashes when it starts. Does this version have a virus?

I doubt it has a virus, it probably just doesn't work on anything newer than Android GB. I'm guessing your Razr has ICS or JB on it.
WEATHER WIDGETS stopped working!
They say lack of connection however the connections work well.
It's strange, has been perfect until today.
Now the internet connection is great, but the widgets say lack of connection.
Anybody?

Mine also down. Location: Singapore. There is another weather and news widget that comes stock with the device but it's lacking in the aesthetic department than the accu widget

I am glad to see this thread because I have the same issue.
However, Accuweather widget still works.
It means Accuweather changed something that Sony cannot fetch the data
or some kind of Sony server blocks it.
Hopefully it's not bec Sony's contract with Accuweather expired or something.

it stopped working since two days ago. It says no connection, but the connection works fine with all other widgets and apps.
Maybe accuweather.com shut down the service to all xperia s users!

Hi there, mine also the same, suddenly its not working, when i tried to find the location its said not found. I though something to do with the apps that I installed but i check Internet and found this post.
I know you can ignore/not use it, but can it be completely uninstalled without rooting etc?

Had a nasty feeling that was going to be answer. Rather like some of the stuff Samsung shoves on their phones & you cannot remove either.
It can't be uninstalled but it can be disabled

Solution: root your phone. Remove.
Just use a different launcher. Only problem is that you won't have access to sense widgets.

Are any of these widgets useful?
Why would you want to get rid of blinkfeed? That things looks so beautiful and way useful. I still don't understand why anybody wants to get rid of it. I think it's great.

I wouldn't go as far as removing/uninstalling Blinkfeed, but I'm curious to what extend this new central piece of Sense can be configured/modified. I just played around with Blinkfeed a couple of minutes in a phone shop. You can configure the sources that are shown on these tiles (like calendar, facebook, twitter, etc) but ...
Can I control how often each tile (is tile the correct word?) is updated? The more frequent the tiles are updated, the more battery is used and more network traffic is generated.
Can I control the placement of the tiles?
Can I control how many tiles are shown? E.g. I would like only a calendar tile and no social network tile or news feed tile.
Regards,
Stefan

Don't add any feed and it won't do anything. Is like it was never there.

It was one of the features I wasn't too keen on but it's turned out to be good for a giggle when I've got nothing else to play with. I scrolled 2 left of my homescreen yesterday to see the headline 'Study warns that sex in space is dangerous.'
I couldn't agree more. For starters the instant you unzip the fly on your suit your dead! Probably not what they were getting at but it was worth a chuckle.

You didn't need to be rooted to remove blinkfeed. Check out Q12 of the HTC One FAQ and you'll see a couple of ways to be able to get rid of it.
The other method, which requires rooting, is to install a custom ROM. I believe some ROMs may still have blinkfeed included though so you'll need to read the first post (at least) of the ROM threads to find out whether it has it or not

It's a nice feature to have, but give us the option to remove/disable it. I hate it when companies force stuff on you.
I see it's there, if I like it I keep it and if I don't I remove it, simple as that. Don't force me to use it.

Hi helpful people of XDA.
I've received my One and I'd very much like to keep it in my possession. Just wondering if there's a find my iPhone style app available for it? Or if its in settings somewhere?
Edit - Also while I'm here, the phone doesn't seem to distinguish between H and H+ it's annoying, is there any chance of being able to see the difference?
Thanks.

So, I have my Gear unlocked and all with Null_ (and have had for some time) but now that the coolness factor has worn off a little, I'm kind of wondering what exactly to do with it. I am on US AT&T so I don't have bluetooth tethering (and I'm not sure my plan would support it anyway) so I'm wondering what apps others have put on their Gear that do not require internet, are not games and are worth having?
I've got a disc golf scoring app and a few live backgrounds. Really the scoring app makes it all worth it, but what else is there? Thanks for the suggestions!
I installed a calculator, calendar and to do list.... None require the internet but make the watch much more functional.

Other apps i use is Office Suite v7 and view some word docs as notes and Focus Trainr
Digital clock disc widget works well for a simple clock.

I would love to know more! I am assuming this done with a rooted customer ROM? How exactly are you setup?
What I want is to run Endo on a watch. I don't mind tethering the GPS, as my phone will be in my FuelBelt. If the Gear can make that happen. I will get that!

Either way, phone or antenna. I just want a watch that will run Endo and use GPS. It seems the Gear just might do that. Seeing as how I have a Note 2, I will have to give the Gear a serious look.
