Hi,
I'm having trouble with my touchscreen and want to send it in for repairs. Unfortunately, i bought my phone off an Internet Vendor in America and HTC America says:
"The P3600 is a European model that isn’t support by HTC America (we do not have the resources yet). Please contact HTC Europe to see about Repair options"
IF anyone have any experience in sending your phone in for repairs in a country other than the one you bought your phone in, pls advise for the following:
1)Will they honour the HTC warrenty if you send it to another country's service center even if you didn't purchase it from that country?
2)Do they accept mail-in requests for repairs?
3)Do you have to pay return postage?
I am also asking HTC europe, but i figure i might get a faster and more accurate response here, so many thanks in advance
My old imate phone had to be shipped to Dubai for repairs, it went pretty smoothly, and they paid for shipping there and back.
Not sure about HTC.
The same problem for me
I have exactly the same problem, and HTC Europe told me that the only way to fix the problem is with the repair centre nearest to America, but im actually not in America, so my problem is worst. Im in latin america, in Colombia and I dont know what to do with this screen blocking problem that is driving me crazy.
So if there are somebody to help us to contact HTC in other way, I really appreciate.
Hello,
Unfortunately HTC has no repair centre in America for P3600, the only solution for you is to refer to this repair centre in the UK. HTC is sorry about the inconvenience.

I'm getting really confused by the responses from distributors and people on this forum. Correct me if I'm wrong:
a) Expansys are selling Grey imports which do not contain the software fix?
b) The official release date is the 16th June? 19th June? 9th June? 23rd June? (depending on what site you go on)
c) if above is correct why are some sites saying they are getting a stock in on the 12th (originally 9th)
d) How do you know you have a grey? Obviously the manuals etc will be in english.
e) Is the software fix available to correct the issue if you have a Grey?
I'm sure I'm not the only person thinking this in the UK
See if HTC let you register your serial. If not, then its probably grey.
If you didn't get your device in HK, or direct from HTC, then its pretty likely its a grey
Well I've ordered mine from TotalPDA. They have informed me that they are getting them in stock on the 11th June. Depending on the release date this could mean its a grey
I doubt it, why would they risk all the bad press after seeing the reaction eXpansys have got?
I'm going to drop an email to them and see what I get back. I'll post anything I receive
it will depends on where you live, Expansys has offices around the world, and they sell the offical hong kong version both english and chinese, if you get the english hong kong version, it's the same as any english version you buy, you will see it labelled WWE which is world wide english, the only differences is, you don't get the official warranty, and HTC will not give you support.

So do these 'grey' imports come with UK power plugs or some adapter?
And are they factoy sealed when you get them?

If Expansys were labelling it as HK sourced, as they often do for other products, that would be fair enough - people would know what they're buying. But they're not - the top of their product page prominently claims it to be "version: UK, GPS". No doubt by the time they're forced to change it they well have sold all the stock at the vastly inflated price. To me that looks like deliberate deception, further supported by the deletion of the original grey import thread on their forum, and locking of other threads on the subject. They have also refuse to answer whether the warranty is for 1 or 2 years (as offered with some EU HTC models). Highly unethical in my book.

HTC Is not registering my product online.
It is WWE version but that’s for ROM only.
The s/n and the origin country for the hardware is not accepted from HTC for the product registration.
So, this is what eXpansys is telling me.

As far as I understand this is what Expansys is offering to me.
- If something goes wrong with the device Expansys will replace the device but they will covering the European transportation costs.
Have in mind that I am from Macedonia.
- I will have to send them directly to their specified address.
- I wont be able to get the support from the HTC listed European authorized services.
- And no rom official updates. They will be posted in their forum.
Somebody confirmed that with HTC here -> (eXpansys deleted forum thread here.)

LOL!
You people are unreal!
Hi, I recieved my diamond from expansys two days ago.
Everything is ok so far, except for the ROM and RAM which are far away from 256 and 193....is it because the device is a grey import (as people from other forums are saying!!) or what??
Anyway, if the device is legal and eveything is ok, why it is not allowing serial number registration with HTC website??
And finally, I really respect expansys and do think that they are decent people, but what should I do if the new versions have bigger RAM and ROM, shall I ask for return or any compensation (according to the UK rules)??
As i said in my other post, its a grey unit ie its not a uk model but an asian unit. Which means that HTC UK wont support it, if you have any problems you will need to send it to Expansys who will then sort it out for you...but you will not get any technical support from HTC. Also you wont get any support unless you rely on Expansys to supply any rom updates etc. You will need to register your serial number on HTCs asian website, then it will accept it.
As for Expansys being decent people??...i dont think so, the fact that they have and are still duping people into thinking that the Diamonds they are selling are UK spec, when they arent really speaks volumes about their practices. They have lost my business thats for sure, i refuse to deal with a company that cannot be honest and upfront...thats been proven by their constant deleting of posts in their forums.
Now if i was you??, i would return it, get my money back..wait a week for the 'real' uk stock to come in...hopefully next week they will be here and not only that you will save yourself some money as it will be cheaper than what Expansys are selling them at...in fact totalpda.co.uk are selling them at £410. Of course its up to you but if i was you, id be sending it back for a full refund.
The ROM/RAM is used by the device and not shown... What are the figures you have, as this may be the cause?
Currently, there are no UK release models available, and there should not be for at least a week...

Lets clear this one up for once and for all on the warranty front.
If you are say in the UK and buy a grey import then you are NOT supported or warranted by HTC UK. You can get support from the area in which the device was obtained from, in these cases Asia. So if the unit breaks you must return it to HTC in Hong Kong either directly yourself or via Expansys which will handle it for you.
You also cannot register a unit from Hong Kong on the HTC UK site and therefore for updates you must register units on the HTC regional site from which the unit was obtained, in these cases the Asian site.
Furthermore the level of warranty differs from region to region so in the EU many devices are under warranty for 24 months which is not the case in others and if a unit is sourced from outside the EU then it will only have the warranty period for that region which in most cases will be about 12 months.
The beef that most people have with this is that Expansys are not being completely transparent about this so people are buying them and then not knowing the full position.
Well and more to the point really . Customers are not getting a choice . They think they are getting a UK branded device as advertised when in fact thay are not. This is against the law in the UK as selling Grey Goods is classed as counterfit.
The warranty is your choice but i would not risk the word of a company that is clearly trying to pull the wool over it's customers eyes just to be first to market. You may as well buy a unit off Ebay which is far cheaper and you will still have to use country of origan for its warranty repairs.
Just my 2 pence worth
Ok guys. I bought my Diamond from Expansys as I have my Tytn II a few months back.
I did try to register its serial number through HTC and I got the message that it was not an HTC phone.
I then registered under a different email giving Honk Kong as a country of residence and when I tried to register my phone stil got the same message.
Any Idea???
Thanks

Did you try going through the HTC Asian/HK site?
legal
Gray is not illegal in the UK, Black is illegal you are buying a genuine product from the manufacture so its not Black or (i hope) stolen
What is illegal is false advertising but after looking at the site, there is nothing in there that is illegal, it in no way suggests anything about the extent of the warrenty other than contact them, it in no ways states that its anything other than a English UK phone, which it is otherwise it would be german or Japanise or something.
the fact of the matter is, its called GRAY for a reason, its not illegal but its not exactly very open either, common sence is needed here people, if someone is doing something thats to good to be true, it probably is, O2 have backed HTC for years now, if anyone was going to release genuine HTC UK phones then either O2 or HTC will do it first

True, but selling at those it where not grey market imports is illegal, and is also trademark infringement as the items are not to be sold in the UK...

If sold as an "Englis UK" device, that is what they should be. I believe these devices are in fact HK WWE devices, which makes it illegal.

Orange backed HTC devices far earlier than O2, and T-Mo have actually announced the device, so I suspect one of those would release the device before O2.

legal or not
it is potentially a copywrite infringment if HTC havent gave permision to sell it or indirectly sell it, that doesnt make it illegal until HTC says so, its quite possible that they allow first tire resells to pass on to europe, it is not however illegal just because itcame from The far east.
It is sold as a UK device, the device is English however, it may have been adapted to be english but its english, in the same way that a german book translated in to english is still english (all be it usually bad) they are not doing anything legally wrong so long as HTC approves to the sale ofits devices, and since they are getting paid for them one way or another its unlikely they will care much, and its perfectly ok for them to limit the warrenty on them as well, so long as its at least 12months, they will however insist that it is sent back through the original retailier it was brought from
i think some one posted in somware that register problem is coming coz HTC webpage not updated, or data not updated yet. he told he recive a mail from HTC.
anyway non of my business... i have no hand in HTC or Expansy or anything els.....

I believe since the devices where not sold with the intention of being sold in the UK, it probably is illegal, although as you say, HTC will be the ones to decide.

The ROM on these devices is the HK WWE ROM. It is a WWE ROM rather than a "UK English" ROM. And, all the german translations I've witnessed have been pretty good
I got mine from expansys and manged to join club HTC with the serial number no problems on the europe site.
Question is when a update comes out will it ask for a serial number and will it be valid then.
My bad just tried to register the devive and yep does not register. Guess ill have to wait for people to release the update on here really.
Register on the english version of the HK site. At least you can get any roms released for that region (and share them here too!).

Sorry, you have entered an invalid serial number. Please check the serial number and try again.
Sorry, if you want to register this product, you need to enter the serial number.
Register your product today to get free updates, applications and drivers.
You can only register HTC-branded devices (e.g. HTC Touch or HTC S620 ) here. If you purchased your device (e.g. T-Mobile Dash or Orange SPV E650) from a mobile operator, please check with your mobile operator if they have their own product registration service.
Anyne can help me?
Well it would help if you actually told us where you are in the world and which htc site your trying to register with??. It might be that you have an asian unit that were released first onto the market before the official UK and european models were released a few weeks later. IF thats the case then you will have to register through the Asian site of HTC to get it to register.

Well the link you just posted takes me to the UK site, so unless you have uk spec Diamond then it wont work...try the european one instead:
http://www.htc.com/member/login.aspx
If that doesnt work then you will probably have an asian unit so you NEED to register on the Asian site rather than the European or UK one. But as you havent told us where you bought the Diamond from...we cant be of much help can we????
if you have a branded device you won't be able to regsiter it on htc.com
if it ist stock htc, you have to enter the serial number, not the imei. found under the battery!
this were told other users, before, use the search function next time!
As per title, where is the new Note 8 Unlocked UK update? I'm still on August security patch when UK carrier specific networks started to get December update on the 10th December. It's now the end of 17th December... Have we been forgotten about do you think? lol... My S8+ was great running Oreo Beta 2 so this Note 8 seems a bit backward...
Reason I ask is because I am hoping this update fixes an issue I am having with notifications not coming through most of the time, I've checked and altered any battery optimisation and special access optimizations for certain apps but still no success so hoping the update triggers something to get this working like it should.
I have an unlocked still on august patch as well, my other one I got through Vodafone Ireland already got November patch and updates, wonder if they are leaving us waiting for Oreo on the international unlocked versions

This Is most definitely the case
This is annoying me big time, pretty piss poor by Samsung
I was just seeing if it was me that hadn't got the update. I'm still on August.
Meanwhile, the Note 5 is getting the December update...
Don't blame Samsung for that, but the UK operators -> THEY have to approve the FW first before it's rolling out to the devices!
The december update is available but still "on hold" for UK-devices (BTU & XEU)
BTU/XEU : 1AQI1 (August)
O2U : 1AQK9 (November)
EVR : 1AQK9 (November)
VOD : 1AQK9 (November)
H3G : 1AQK9 (November)
But: instead of complaining here, why not flash the latest FW yourself (2BQKG) with Odin?
BTU/XEU are the codes for the direct from Samsung models. They are operator free. So there is no approval from the operators needed. I personally think someone at Samsung just forgets to hit a publish button as they don't get an approval they don't need.
By any standard August is the only BTU available, and that's poor for a flagship with a company that promised monthly security updates.
Yeah still no update on the 23rd DEC, I did see EE UK only just got it on the 19th and that probably makes up the last in the UK to get it now... Flashing via Odin means fresh install dosnt it? I guess even if an OTA update dosnt resolve my notification issues, a fresh install probably would be the best bet anyway.
Wouldn't flashing my non-carrier device with a carrier specific 2BQKG firmware potentially riddle my device with carrier bloat? Better off waiting if thats the case! Anything new in 2BQKG over 1AQK9?
Just updated to 2BQKG via Odin without losing anything, wish I did this sooner!
I'm in UK on ee and the update came out today ota 46.87mb
Hi
I ve bought a Note 8 device unlocked as the seller said and when i got home i noticed that is blocked. When i check what provider is on i found BTU. So if can someone please help me what network provider i should contact?
Thanks a lot for your help and support
BTU is a generic code so it's not carrier assigned.
You need to contact the seller and get your money back as it will be impossible to find out why it was blocked in the first place.
P.S. If you're ever buying a second hand phone ask the seller for the IMEI before you part with any cash and check it online to see if it's blocked first. If the seller won't give you the IMEI then just walk away.

Or better still write down the IMEI number put your sim card in the phone and call your provider to have the device added to your account .
How many providers does your region have? Call all of them.

However the chances are you are using an unlocked UK/Ireland model which may have been bought from a retailer or Samsung direct and then insured via a third party insurer. The third party insurer would then request an IMEI block if the device was reported lost or stolen.
Sadly there is very little you can do as the device will likely be blocked from all networks in your country of residence, however there is a chance it could work outside of your country as other countries / carriers will have not blocked the IMEI.
Meaning you may be able to sell it on with the proviso / understanding the device is blocked in the UK or whatever country your currently residing.
How did you buy the device ? If you paid via PayPal or with a CC - you may be able to get a chargeback with your CC company if you report it as a fraudulent transaction (sold a dud device).

I bought it on Shpock from a private seller. Now i found that the T mobile blocked the IMEI because it was a illegally purchase and the seller knew it this. I paid by cash unfortunately. The device was blocked by t mobile since December 2017. And i bought it few days ago.
you obviously bought a stolen phone, lesson learnt for you, buy cheap... buy twice....HA... HAAA..
that said, you could probably recover a few quid from selling it on a Russian buy/sell website

So it was UK purchased. Looks like the networks share IMEI information. just sell it to the USA or mainland Europe, noting it's black listed in the UK. You should he able to get at least 60% of your money back. That is if it's really black listed and nothing else wrong with it .
