Im waiting for my new phone Rhodium dah
And i have been looking around for different ROMs and i cant find anything that im looking for.
My old phone (X1) i ran a WM 6.5 barebone version that means no extra "stuff" or themes and on just plain simple WM 6.5 because i rum Spb Mobile shell i like the animations and so on in it so it feels waste of resources to run like TouchFLO and so on.
And when im typing this i could take the chans and ask about the Manila & Sense, Are they different version of TouchFLO 3D? never got the hang of that part :/

this topic is probably going to be closed soon, since this question is asked alot on this forum.
and usually, the answer is something like, take your time and install different roms to see wich one you like.
personally, I recommend you the T.I.R. explosion rom, cause it is stable and doesn't have lots of programs installed.
so it runs on the bare minimum, which is what you are looking for as far as I hear.
then again, this is my personal opinion and probably there are lots of other people around here who will tell you to try another rom.
and they are all right, so please, try them out and enjoy them all

I don't know why it should be closed because ppl want to know what tip and what they should run. I mean in this case something "barebone" i all the ROMs i have been looking at i full with extra apps and other flashy teams..

Thats not exactly what im looking for, I want a standard WM 6.5 not with a modified menu system or desktop.
Or if you should find a brebone some functions of the phone has been removed.. like radio. The point with barebone is not to remove functions that the phone has but to minimize the usage of memory and thems that you are never going to use. And maybe have the Themes like extra CABs or something.
im currently running a perceft barebone WM 6.5 with Spb mobile shel on my X1 and that is mutch faster then i ran a ROM with touchFLO and stuff and then mobile shell on top.
Test a several till you find the one that fits better for your needs and share it with us!

Manila is mostly the same as both TouchFlo3D and Sense. Since Sense is name HTC calls the TouchFlo3D in newer devices with newer properties.
And the name "Manila ver x.x.xxxxxxx"(for instance: manila v2.1.xxxxxx are usually for TouchFlo3D and v2.5.xxxxxxxxx are for Sense) is mostly used in xda and devs forums because the source files of both TouchFlo3D and Sense is called as Manila in the windoes or Android directories.
I dunno much about MaxManila but what I think about your rom decision is the same as most people, you'll probably end up with spending hours in the forum and another hours for installing - testing - reinstalling roms to your device and trying to be careful about your data, but in the end I'm sure you'll find what you really want.
Standard WM 6.5? The non-touch screen OS? Or a bare-bones version of the WM 6.5 that comes on touch screen devices (a.k.a. WM 6.5 Professional)?
If you are talking about WM 6.5 professional versions, my advice would be to look at the various posts on the ROMs and read what those who have come before you think. Do the negatives out weigh the positives? How many bugs?

None of them! Cause none are stable enough and only 1 contains landscape.

And this NRGZ ROM has just a Titanium version. Titanium, however, is just another overlay/launcher like Sense, just not as complex.
I think Energy's roms are great,but the only issue about it is his roms are not so "energy",meaning battery life is not so good.
Rhodium_AF is also nice.
As for ROM's themselves i've notice in the past year here on the XDA forums that roms have become very similar to each other with very minor differences between them in the speed and the way they look. This as become more so since people have been cooking with wm6.5
Personally i am not bothered by this because i like the more business-like look of the ROMs and i am not embarrsed to pull my phone out and show off my new GUI. And not look like the more immiture ones from a couple of years back
personally after looking around the ones by NRGZ28 seem the most ascetically pleasing of the lot and seem to have positive reviews regaurding speed
As of now, valkerie's 23518-F5 rom got all thumbs up for tp2.
NRGZ > Fast roms, with almost no trouble at all.
Ark66 > Custom rom with a stock lay out, my own experience is that this rom freezes every 2 days, if not every day
Still I love the Ark66 theme and stuff that's why I am constantly switching between those 2.
I like dotcompt Roms, awesome work with the Diamond and now amazing Rhodium Roms.

Stop asking which is best. It is a matter of opinion and need. And the answer is different for us all or we would just have the Miscrosft version and xda wouldn't be needed. Try them until you find what you are looking for, or cook your own.

I am looking for a rhodium kitchen or even just a set of tools that I can use to get back into the cooking with. The last time I messed around with this was on my old Hermes device.
I have seen numerous threads that refer to many different sets of tools, but many of the ones I have tried either fail horribly to function due to age, or just don't like the RHODIUM roms.
I have tried a few kitchens I have seen and even a few that were not made specifically for the RHODIUM with SYS and XIP changes to suit, but no success so far...
Basically I just want to learn, I don't plan at this time to create any production roms for anyone other than myself.... I am just interested in learning the trade.
Can anyone recommend a good place to start with the RHODIUM?

-- alternately, I am perfectly happy at a command prompt. Any guides out there that would be complete enough for a relative newbie to follow? I don't mind putting in the time to do the reading and research, just the things I have found are very old and I am not sure which are still workable with the newer devices (I would prefer this actually...nothing like learning the nuts and bolts before cheating with a kitchen!)
·Which SYS and XIP would be good to start with (stability would be a good thing so I would know whether I broke something)

I am primarily interested in 6.5 not 6.5.x with the menus at the bottom...cool, but they make me a little crazy, and I have apps I use that do not like 6.5.x menus and interface bits.

Does anyone here have a plain, vanilla ROM. Essentially a stock ROM without the extras? I really like Miri's builds but I want the new interface, etc. Any suggestions? Tweats and registry changes are fine but I don't want any "extra" programs installed.

Building your own ROM isnt' too hard, and there's a reasonably large selection of kitchens available in the WinMo 6.5 versions.
Check out this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=515824 - Sparkienl has uploaded some great kitchens. Most of them (in the first post) are Kitchens, with a specific build of WinMo.
I'm using ervius' kitchen which makes it really, really easy to remove anything un-necessary.
Cooking / building is a lot easier than most people think and IMO that's probably one of the best threads to get started in.

well...it seems that after hundreds of tested roms,it is impossible to find nice and clean vanilla rom...
every cooker here makes a good ROM at a start....and then...puts a lot of garbage inside.It seems that they have contest "who will put much garbadge inside rom"..
reverting back to old good shipped Microsoft...
It seems it is only usable solution left.

Been wandering around on this super forum for a while and have tried a lot of ROM's.
What I've seen is that almost all of the Chefs cook a ROM based on a latest build, and then try to get the ROM as fast and stable as possible. Some of the Chefs really done a great job, like Miniterror, Mikenificent, Xannytech and Gregorz. Still, these ROMs are getting quicker, but none of them are really fluid, like for example a iPhone.
Why don't you chefs try to built in a other way. So why don't you start with the fastest and most stable ROM ever, and then one by one try to add the functionality that we are now used, till you see that the ROM starts getting slower.
On my Diamond I've got a ROM that is based on WM6.1, and runs Sense 2.1. This ROM is much faster than the original stock ROM for the Diamond. In speed and functionality this ROM can really compete with the speed of an iPhone.
Why not do the same for the HD? Why not trying WM6.1+Sense 2.1 and add the tools we are used in the latest ROM's? Or perhaps WM6.5+TF3D?
The must be a lot of way to do this, but the goal is to start with the fastest and most stable ROM, and than adding new stuff. Instead of the other way, like almost every Chef is doing on this forum.
If I could build ROM's, I really would have started this, but I don't have the knowledge of doing this.
I Hope a Chef can pick this one up!

A lot of chefs like to try and use the latest builds and with new builds appearing all the time, the time to do as you wish becomes less. A few chefs have created roms using wm6.1 & manila 2.1 but this is becoming less often as wm6.1 is seen my a lot of people as a dying format especially with wm7 soon being released for mobiles. Also there is compatibility issues with some apps and wm6.1 as most are now designed for wm6.5

blackstone will never be really fluid, like for example a iPhone because it runs windows mobile 6.1, or even worse, 6.5, which requires more juice than the processor is able to provide.
my guess is that cooks cook roms to there personal taste(i know i do)
and wm6.5 has reached a lvl that it is verry usable for daily use
thats why i think there isnt to much 6.1 cooked anymore

Don't get me wrong, I do like the latest builds. As a matter of fact, I always used the latest versions, because I like all the features that has been introduced in WM6.5 and Sense 2.5.
Because I've experienced that the latest ROM's really use a lot of power of the HD, (resulting in unstable performance and fast battery drainage), I was looking for a ROM with Manila that was as fast as the Stock ROM, but had the features of the latest builds.
After a while I concluded that WM6.5 combined with the latest Sense is too heavy to get fluid performance like the stock ROM. (allthough Miniterror's ROM is very good, I'm using his ROM for over a month now!).
That's why I suggested a few options, like WM6.1 with Sense 2.5, or WM6.5 with TF3D2.1 or anything else. Just to get fastest and most fluid ROM.

Hey guys I understand all the hype right now surrounds CM7 and all the ports for that coming out.
However that being said I used to own an HTC Aria and I used to love Cyanogen and all of his work.
I was wondering if anyone has any idea if this is:
a. Works
b. Is still being developed
i. A newer build out
c. If youve used it.

designgears never did contribute to CM6.1 and glitterballs' kernel was just a modification of codeworkx's/coolya's 6.1 kernel.
6.1 is dead now in favor of 7, if you were to have any interest in trying to work on 6.1, there is some of their original work located here: https://github.com/cmsgs
though it's mostly broken and unoptimized.
