[Q] Gingerbreak can't root - LG Optimus Black

Hi,
i have a P970 with Orange FR, but I can't root with Gingerbreak (1.1 or 1.2), this message appears : "Rooting (or Exploiting)... Running exploit..." and it hang. I've already tried to reboot my phone many times. Can you help me please ?

You must have version 10C +
Gingerbreak will only work with 10A and 10B.
GO into phone settings and you will see down the bottom what version you're running.
To root you must use SuperOneClick.
Have a read through here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1111771

SOC never run on my device..
test Gingerbreak can root V10A V10C and V11B,didn't try other firmwares or failed

Hi duffkid,
i have a P970 v10b version :/
=>dxdiag32, i only want Gingerbreak too

Mine is running v10a. Tried GingerBreak 1.10 and 1.20 and both gives me an error saying data is in an invalid location (/null).
Tried z4root 1.30 and it tries forever and can't root (temp and permanent).
All I want is to be able to change the host file (/system/etc/host) to get rid of the ads.
Any ideas?

What is your operator bsinclair ?

flash or update to versions that i mentioned below, then you can root

It's a Brazilian operator, Claro. It's is running 2.2.2 and interface is in Portuguese.

=> dxdiag32, i have not updates, and don't want to return under v10a for test Gingerbreak.
=> bsinclair, i hope someone have a solution :/

I'm using v10c Turkey firmware and SOC runs perfect. I couldnt root with gingerbreak.

I've tried the shellroot with SOC 1.9.5 and 2.1.1 but it don't want to root. Each time, it reboot alone anyone have an idea please ?

Lost root because of 2.2.1 update Droid 1.

Did anyone else lose root?
Is there a fix in the works?
Yes I lost root as well.
I have a Droid 1 and I don't know why I installed the OTA update, but now my root access is gone and z4root will not get it back.
I found out there is a fix though, we just have to go through the whole manual root process again:
Unfortunately I cannot post links here, so PM me if you want the how-to on fixing this.
You should be still able to use the RSDLite method. That one is permanent..i don't think the OTA would even wipe it out. Who knows though, i'm on UD2.3

How to remove updater file
My rooted Droid with 2.2 just downloaded the recent update also, but I have not allowed it to install yet. Is there a way to delete the update so it will not install and lose root? I used z4root to root the phone (worked great...very easy). I see from other posts that after the update z4root will not be allowed to re-root. Is this correct?
Thanks

If you have the option to not update, DONT UPDATE IF YOU ARE ROOTED until there is a root fix. Myself and a lot of people have buggy phones now that root has been disabled. We're all waiting for a solution. One Click Root didn't work for my Droid.

Yes and no.
No, being z4root will not work after the 2.2.1 update.
Yes being you can be rooted once again after 2.2.1
I just re-rooted (manually) and it's working great now with 2.2.1
I've had a couple people PM me about it.
Follow this guide to the "T", don't skip ahead, read everything:
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-labs/74028-root-droid-1-regardless-os-version.html
It is super fast and takes maybe 10 minutes tops.
Far from the 3 hrs or so it took me the first time I ever rooted (last June).
I was able to use SuperOneClick to re-root my phone in 2.2.1
here is a link
h t t p : / / forum.xda-developers . c o m / showthread.php?t=803682
Yep lost mine too and working to get it back, thats why I am here. z4 was the first time i rooted my phone and it made it so easy!
I actually got my replacement device this weekend and it was on 2.2.1 but last night I tried SuperOneClick the latest version and it worked fine. Also my sprecovery was still showing stock so I used my ROM Manager from the Market to flash to clockwork mod then back to SPrecovery and also was able to make a backup of my stock 2.2.1 with nandroid. Hope this helps.

[Q] SuperOneClick unroot/root

Hi
Just wondering if anyone here is planning on unrooting with this app to get the OTA gingerbread stock updates when available then rooting again? I used SuperOneClick btw.
Will this work method work or is it best to backup the phone then do a factory wipe, apply the OTA update then re-root and restore settings/apps? Wiping does seem a little excessive.
Loving my new phone
Diskbox
Hi,
Id also like to know the answer to this - so bump.
Can superoneclick be used to unroot - if not what is the easiest way to do so. Or is the only option to factory reset the phone?
Many thanks
I rooted my phone and upgraded from V10d to V10e. I loosed the root after the upgrade, but applications I freezed remained so
While I didn't tried it, SuperOneClick has the functionality of unrooting your phone.
SuperOneClick can unroot, but it's easy to DIY, just remove /system/app/Superuser.apk and /system/bin/su

[Q] motochopper fails to root - Atrix HD with 4.0.4

I'm trying to get root on an Atrix HD with 4.0.4 firmware installed on it. motochopper simply says
Code:
[-] Failure.
when the pwn program in the package runs.
I've also tried the older motofail2go package in case it might work better with 4.0.4, but still failed.
Is there a particular stock firmware version I should upgrade to in order to get motochopper to work?
Is there anything in logcat I should look for as a clue to the problem? Any other suggestions?
Thanks.
For anyone who finds themselves in a similar situation, Towel Root worked great: hxxp://towelroot.com/
Hopefully there's no questionable/suspicious behavior for Towel Root like I've read regarding Kingo's rooting program.

[Q] SuperSU Binary issue, root help!

Hi,
I have a T-Mobile LG G Flex that used to be rooted and after android system update now it doesn't have root access. Here's the thing: I ran TowelRoot and it displayed the following message: "This device isn't supported". Afterwards I downloaded and installed StumpRoot and when I run the app it displays a message saying: "Device is rooted" but when I run the Root Checker app it tells me device has no root access.
Heres the Software Information from the device:
Android Version
4.4.2
Baseband Version
M8974A-AAAANAZM-2.0.20064
Kernel Version
3.4.0
Build Number
KOT49I.D95920s
Software Version
D95920s
Can anyone point me towards a solution for this? I made a new thread regarding this matter because even though I've seen many people post similar situations they're for other type of devices. Any help will be deeply appreciated.
Thanks,
I'd say you might have to grab the tot for the d959, flash back to stock and run the updates again, then use stump.

Can someone answer this for me?
This always happens to me, I post a new thread and I get my questions answered once but after that no more help. Is this a forum rule?, do I need to help another user before receiving help again. I'd appreciate if someone could point me in the right track.
Thanks!,

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2644083
A lot of peep have been posting that they're not able to root the latest update with the previous methods. And also T-Mobile doesn't use a tot file. Its .kdz. But not gonna work due to the latest update doesn't have download mode. So if you're on the latest, I suggest find a root method ( try stumproot, safe root, I/o root, vroot, towel root, hell id try anything. But that's me. I don't suggest shoot blind if you don't know what you're doing) then install freedom flex get a custom recovery then make a backup and flash d'fuse's rooted KitKat and disable ota's.

"Flash It" or "Flashing" means to copy files to your device using an application such as ODIN.

Hi, so I am stuck without recovery or download mode. I know that the LG Mobile Support Tool should work but I tried it on two PCs and just as it finishes extracting the software after it downloads, the program runs into an error and closes. I am running D95920s like everyone else here. Just no luck. Any suggestions? I plugged in at 90% Not sure if im doing anything wrong.
Update: So the LG Mobile Tool has many security checks and it doesn't always allow for flashing. If anybody comes across this problem in the future. Refer to mattwheats instructions.

Stock TMobile D415 ROM D41520b_00.kdz Lollipop 5.0-- Can't root?

I'm a bit slow to realize this, but after updating to T mobile's latest 20b firmware (lollipop 5.0x), it lost root. I then tried to root it, using the three methods mentioned here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2732311.
Towelroot clearly doesn't work anymore. The zip file in the above thread couldn't be flashed since there's no recovery operation possible (just showing an android with ! in a triangle sign). I also tried the purpledrake, but the script doesn't run when the phone is connected with all drives installed and adb devices showing the phone. I then tried to get fastboot mode back (to install twrp/cwm recovery to flash the zip file) by following http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-l90/general/guide-fastboot-l90-d415-t2827825 which I have done successfully before, but then couldn't do it because it requires root (doh!).
So it seems that I just lost my ability to root, unless I downgrade to a stock kitkat (10e?) from tmobile, and then towelroot/etc. assume those work.
Anyone with experience on the stock 20b firmware? Can you root it and how? I'd love to use the beautiful 12.1 Cyanogen that's available here, but the camera doesn't work right on mine. Thus stock 5.0 seems to be the best option. Many thanks.
I got a bit further on the purpledrake method, in that I had to do a clean restart on the phone and connect to usb before the script will recognize. However, it ends up giving a really quick error message after trying a temp root: "your phone is not running a compatible software version. No vulnerable mode detected. Rebooting phone."
Anyway, many thanks to @brossovitch I followed http://highonandroid.com/android-smartphones/how-to-root-lg-g-flex-2-g2-g3-on-lollipop/ and it works like a charm. I can't seem to delete this very short thread so I thought I'd wrap it up with a solution. If it seems a bit useless please remove the thread (or tell me how to do it since I can't find the "easy button"). Thanks.
