Radio flash? - LG Optimus Black

Sorry for double post, I asked this in the nova thread and no one answered me, a little saddening..
i wonder if someone can help me,
i have a UK T-Mobile Optimus black, and i have flashed Nova 4.5 on it, and it is a great rom.
the only issue i have found, is that the internet is very slow on the phone, even when i have a HSDPA connection, 350kb compared to my atrix on t-mobile getting 1500kbs..
i assume this is beacuse the radio in the rom isn't fully compatible with t-mobile? anyone have any ideas on how to flash and where to find the orignal uk t-mobile radio?
thanks in advance.
Karl

i remembered nova tweak network, maybe it's not suitable for every location...
you can try to remove those tweak

Wifi issue

Hi Guys
I have been on s many threads looking for an answer but can't see one. There are loads of posts where folk are using the special roms ( like summiters latest masterpiece) and are over the moon about them but the Wifi doesnt work.
Is there a cure?
thanks
bhayani
use edge/gprs?
i am using summiters latest and wifi is great ...
i was just watching live tv from a friends sling box
I do use gprs ( no edge for T-mobile UK)
I really need an answer to this.
I only allow myself time to play phones on the weekends and would like to get this working.
Is the radio rom the one that controls Wifi, If so it mmay be worth trying a different one

Are you a Newbie with questions about ATT Pure

Ask me any questions you might have about ATT pure and i will be more than glad to answer it for you here
Im looking to buy a pure in a week and unlock it for tmobile. Would i be better off unlocking it and having to work around the ATT ROM (I did this with my pantech duo and its not fun.) or install the stock Topaz ROM from htc. and if I do the latter (the best option all acounts) will I have to install any extra drivers the pure?
I am a newbee. I am just coming over from my Touch HD T8285 and need to know how to HSPL. I have read the thread but it keeps giving me a connection error. I am pretty familiar with flashing on my polaris, hd, tilt, but I am having a hard time with the pure. Any help would be great.
Came over from a moto q, how do I change the colors of the touch flo icons and bar, I already found where to change the start bar and the lower bar but touch flo is still att blue. Do I have to make a custom rom or edit some registry settings or what?

IIRC you will only get edge on this if you jump to tmobile. If you use the ATT rom, you will probably have media net setup automatically and it might be a pita to try to setup.
Maybe I read the specs wrong on the frequencies though

You'll have to install a new theme that overwrites TF3D.
I just got my phone upgrade to HTC pure from ATT. I have bought the unlock from http://www.htc-unlocks.com/ ( Olipro ) .Everything went well for unlocking but when I restart the phone it went to dead. After HARD reboot shows as:
Security unlocked
TOPA210 32M
SPL-1.33.01 iMex
MicroP-Topaz (LED) v11
TPMFG DATA
512,555 190,897
191,208 833,208
833,899 calibrated
Can Someone here help ?
Thanks!
ATT Pure
How do you "reset" the Pure.
My old Tilt had a hole for the stylis to reboot it.
The reset hole is in the stylus housing, a small red dot.

no your right about the frequencys. tmobiles 3g is 1700 mhz att is 1900 I think. I dont use mobile internet any way so 3g is not so necessary for me.
You are basically screwed if you thought you would get "3G" on tmob (then again, they don't have good "3g" coverage, so maybe you wouldn't notice).
Return the phone or admit your mistake.
Yea really, I don't see why ppl are buying this phone specifically desiged for the AT&T 3g Spectrum to use on TMO. But, then again TMO does have a unique choice of bands who no one likes to manufacture unless you get it from them. Atleast, Nokia makes AT&T band devices once in a blue moon.
Questions
I am not a newbie, but have some questions re my new Pure:
1 - Is there a program that can map and control all or more of the buttons using push and hold - like hbuttons?
2 - What about making the zoom area usable for special functions?
3 - is there a working TCPMP that can play all .flv files including the on2v6 codec?
I've only had mine for ~24 hours at this point. I had a Tilt before this, but I have a couple questions about the Pure:
1. The TouchFlo screens let you set the wallpaper for the home screen, but the other screens all have the Death Star logo. Is there a way to change that without flashing the ROM? I don't want to flash yet because:
a. it's too soon
b. the HSPL program didn't work.
2. Next to the USB port, there are two holes; one very tiny one above it about the size of a stylus point, and another to the right that is much larger. I'm hoping that the top hole is the microphone, and the one on the right is for a phone strap. Can anyone confirm that? I'd hope not to damage the microphone with my repeated attempts to hang a keitai strap from it.
3. Is there a way to remove the battery icon from the status bar on top? I plan to use a different one that I like better, so having the other one there is redundant.
In return for getting my questions answered, I will check back here and answer others' questions based on my experiences.

It's true. None of the 4 national CellCos (is that a word?) are compatible with one another. The ones that share frequencies don't share technologies. To exacerbate the problem further, Europe uses 2100MHz, which is different from North America. So, if you want 3G to work right, alas, you have to get a phone from your carrier.

Too many questions and so little answers? Where's our wiseman?
I just bought mine but I'm going to wait to see the answers, like that won't be posting the same questions

3 - If you go to alarms screen the more tab (last tab) you can have the time show up at the top.
I just got the Pure from ATT store and happy me
I am a complete noob with windows phone, so bear with me
1. I connected my phone to the Wi-Fi at my house, and launched Opera. However 90% of the time the browser just simply could not load a webpage. Anything else that require data would not work either (this includes the weather tab). Every once in a while it would load up some data and then it would stop working again. Did I get a defective phone?
2. Like everyone else has asked, is there a way to change the blueish TF3D theme with ATT logo to something else?
3. On the Internet tab on TF3D, when I click Launch web browser it automatically directs me to att.net. Is there a way to change it to some other websites?
^
1. opera i have found is horrible on this phone. its has know problem working on the medianet setting on the phone when using wifi. go to the connection settings and change it to ATT isp and it will work. I use IE for browsing and Skyfire for flash
2. not on the stock rom

Any light on the default att.net homepage issue?

[Q] Only GPRS and no 3G after root - Any ideas?

Hey All, - Another thread about rooting my phone sorry!
Everything is working perfectly (And running on CM6) except that it doesn't seem to want to go onto 3g and just stays on gprs which is obviously painfully slow!
I assume that it's something to do with the radio signal, I'm on O2 Uk and I believe their 3g is 2100.
I'm confidant the APN is correct as I had copied it before rooting the phone.
The original sbf that I used was the one for the country I got the phone from (New Zealand) and I then followed the advice from my previous thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1039212
I'm probably missing somethin obvious, but it would be great to get a few ideas as to what I could look at.
Cheers!
ok wow. - I had made a very stupid mistake.... It looks like the 2g only box was checked.
Never had it checked before so don't know why it did now. So eveyone can ignore this....

Vodafone NL + Custom roms Incredible S

Hi Peeps,
Can some explain to me why al the non sense custom roms won't have a internet connection with this device and vodafone NL?
I would really like to find a fix for this problem. I quote the maker of the cyanogenmod rom.
"I think part of the problem is the RIL we are using."
Could someone help me get this fixed?
thanx!

Good, then I am not the only one
I really want to use MIUI but the because it wont give me a data connection (3g,H,etc.) stops me from using it further
I checked the "Monitor" app pre-installed with MIUI, and changed some settings with the firewall and the statusbar displayed a 3G icon, but it still didnt work.
Curiously, does it work for other people running MIUI/CM7 on different phones who are on Vodafone NL? I'm trying to understand if it's the radio or something that stock Android doesn't have that Sense/other providers do have. I am pretty sure it would work even if you install ARHD and run the no sense script.
I don't think it's the sense. It's either the radio, ROM kernel (?) or some other config in stock that MIUI/CM7 are picking up that Sense might have overwritten.
It's interesting, really
Works fine for me on Vodafone India but yeah, that doesn't help you
Only one thing to add, Vodafone NL comes in 2 variations: Vodafone NL and Vodafone NL Business which uses a different APN. For me Vodafone NL has not worked on CM7 but Vodafone NL Business does work (due to the SIM having corporate contract I guess)
Hi john,
Thanx for looking into it, i have tried different radio's and roms. Its not the card itself because it works flaweless in the htc legend with cm7.
It must be something that connects the radio with the software.. the developer of cyanogenmod for the incredible S was talking about the RIL (Radio Interface Layer)
cince it's not only a CM 7 problem i guess it has to do with something all the rommakers are using.
serious *yawn* as i mentioned like dozens of time yes it is the ril and yes there is a version from cm for the vodafone nl users, ask attn1 (and no they dont know what it is or how it should be fixxed atm)
end of discussion
lol relax dude, i don't own a incredible S that long and couldn't find anything about it on XDA... After that i asked another dutch users but he didn't know why it was not working..
I created this topic so new users like me can find a answer why a custom rom is not working on their phone at this moment. Hopefully they will crack it.
it's okey problem is most people dont do the research and just start asking, but no biggy...
just do what ive told you before, im sure attn1 is willing to help when he has the time
This problem with the RIL is this just vodafone blocking some RIL or is er a functional problem with this RIL and the vodafone carrier?
I don't know what to do, i would realy like to use a miu of cm rom without the sense.
Can anyone give me a hand? or a push in the right direction?
its the ril that has an issue with vodafone duhh...
its like i said before there is an version from cm that works with it...
so yes other roms are possible also, how? erhm... read back...
sorry for asking but i can't find that build of CM7 not on their website nor on XDA Developers. I just want to know what to do myself to rebuild a rom and make the appropiate changes to the RIL so it wil work.
contact attn1 mate
i have did that multiple times but i get no responsse of attn1
i'll upload some this weekend (not 100% sure which one was it but im sure you can test that out ), i currently switched to kpn cause of some connection problems i was having where im stationed...
finally got time to work on this issue
latest cm7 nightlies (#95) should restore support for this kind of sim

It works! You're a hero, finally CM on my IncS
Everytime i'm moving in The Hague, i lose my GSM and 3g signal.
Is that a known problem?? I am using Android Revolution HD 1.1.7
To get my signal back i have to go to airplane mode and then log in again with my pin.....
I have this issue on many custom roms on telus too.
how can you flash a new ril?
I'm dealing with the same error. the newest cm7 works fine. The revolution roms as well. (BTW I haven't noticed any issues in the Hague. as soon as 3g dropped all my colleague's 3g dropped as well on their Iphones.)
Unfortunately mobile network isn't working on most of the fancy 3.5 sense roms.
I posted about the vodafone issue in one of the sense 3.5 threads and got this reply as solution. Could anyone confirm whether these steps solved the problem?

Found this might help you
This is actually simple to fix. My girlfriends phone was doing this a bit ago. After a bit of tinkering I found this to work. 1. Shut down your phone 2. Carefully remove the battery cover and battery from the phone. 3. Using a toothpick or something similar, depress the clip holding the Verizon/vodafone sim card in place and remove the card. 4. Replace your battery and turn the phone back on. 5. Wait about a minute, the phone may display a message saying somehting along the lines of "no sim card found, switching to CDMA" or something similar. 6. Turn the phone back off, remove the battery and replace the sim card 7. Completely re-assemble the phone and turn it back on. 8. Your phone should now show that you have Verizon as your carrier and all your phones functions should be restored.
Hope this works as well for you guys as it did for me.
I assume this is some sort of error with the phone recognizing which network is its default carrier. I also assume that verizon has some ort of deal with vodafone, a carrier in the Netherlands, that allows some of there phones to access vodafones gsm network if the verizon customer happens to be travelling. That would explain why they have a vodafone sim card in some of these phones. from my HTC Incredible S using XDA App

t-mobile Nexus One radio frequency fix?

I have an original Nexus One ordered from Google locked to t-mobile. When we moved to europe we found the data didn't work, because the radio didn't handle those frequencies.
So now I've flashed it with the evervolv ics and I find the radio is now doing data. So I'm guessing the radio was software limited?
(apologies if this is a known thing - I am pretty pleased with life right now and wanted to share!)

Did you flash the radio or just the rom? Could it have been you didn't initially have the proper APN settings applied ?
Good call
You're right - just the ROM.
When we signed up with (O2? I don't remember now) they theoretically set everything. When it didn't work I may have gone in and tried to re-set things, but it's possible I messed something up - I'm not really savvy on that side of things.
