Hello,
My cousin has upgraded from a feature phone to a droid 3, but she hates the way her notifications appear. What app or apps could she use to give her more options. Any recommendations?
Hello ladies and gentlemen,
I know that some of you have a lot of experience, so please drop a line or two and give me a tip. Please and thank you.
You can't really change the way notifications come in...

SMS Popup by Adam K is one of my favorites
Or a combination on Go Launcher EX and GO Notifications is cool Somewhat iphoneish
Pretty much all i know of at the moment.
Thank you, I'll pass those links along to her. Again, thank you for your time .
Android arguably has the best notification system available. Why she'd want to downgrade to archaic iOS style notifications is beyond me.

*edit* it works pretty well, i dont like having to find the vogue forun every time i boot it up though
Do you plan on releasing the source of this app? I had a project I was working on for a forum, but ran into some issues. Some example coding would definitely be nice.
Very nice but no way to bookmark forums = no good for me
I love it! ill use it when I can't get to a computer. Very good for show off threads because it takes 1 less step to upload pics!

Somebody please get this up and going for the xoom
I was about to side load it....see how that goes.
XOOM
Why bother? It's a POS compared to WordFeud.
I was just going to install this when I noticed the app doesn't install on Xoom. I must say this makes me really disappointed and brings a huge spotlight to splintered status of Android.
That said, I find it hard to blame Google solely. I much rather blame EA. Its not like they couldn't have made the app work on both platforms.

I side-loaded it. It works but not great. It is 1/4 screen and has graphical issues in the unused space. The music sucks too. I haven't gotten to play a game yet but the game does seem to run and the HC3.2 full screen trick will probably handle the screen size issues.

Can you post a link to the APK, I would like to give it a go even though it apparently only partially works. Or send to [email protected] Thanks!

I loaded it on my TB, haven't tried moving it to my Xoom yet...
It is disappointing that this new Free version doesn't support "local" play only... or play against the "computer."
Anyone get the apk out?

That would be warez, unless of course you are asking for the trial version. The trial version does suck a$$ though. See below.

+1 It is pointless for me, i just wanted to grab a quick me vs computer game to try it before i buy it.
There was a free version of scrabble. So that would not be warez. Anyone know where to find the apk in the file system? I can pull it from my TB or tab.

Well, that's true! It looks really nice, and it is simple to use. There is just one problem that I found. Sometimes when there is an update for an app (don't know if it is random or some particular apps) there is no Update button, only Open button that will run that application. You can update that app only when you have two or more updates and update them all at the same time. Anyone experienced this?

Anyone else notice how much smoother the multitasking screen loads? It's probably the biggest performance improvement I've discovered so far. It was always pretty laggy for me in ICS.

How do you do this? The only app I was able to disable was that race car game. There is no option to disable most of the bloatware. Do I need to uninstall bloatware updates first?

Cool, thanks!
I may be missing it, but how do you access Google Now from the lock screen? Unfortunately, you still can't change the lock screen targets (which is just stupid), and Google isn't in the normal top position like it is on other JB phones with the ring on the lock screen.
I really don't get not allowing the user to decide the lock screen targets. I don't use the stock messaging app, but I can't change the target to open Handcent, so that a useless target I have sitting there.
I know you can ignore/not use it, but can it be completely uninstalled without rooting etc?

Had a nasty feeling that was going to be answer. Rather like some of the stuff Samsung shoves on their phones & you cannot remove either.

Solution: root your phone. Remove.
Just use a different launcher. Only problem is that you won't have access to sense widgets.

Why would you want to get rid of blinkfeed? That things looks so beautiful and way useful. I still don't understand why anybody wants to get rid of it. I think it's great.

I wouldn't go as far as removing/uninstalling Blinkfeed, but I'm curious to what extend this new central piece of Sense can be configured/modified. I just played around with Blinkfeed a couple of minutes in a phone shop. You can configure the sources that are shown on these tiles (like calendar, facebook, twitter, etc) but ...
Can I control how often each tile (is tile the correct word?) is updated? The more frequent the tiles are updated, the more battery is used and more network traffic is generated.
Can I control the placement of the tiles?
Can I control how many tiles are shown? E.g. I would like only a calendar tile and no social network tile or news feed tile.
Regards,
Stefan

It was one of the features I wasn't too keen on but it's turned out to be good for a giggle when I've got nothing else to play with. I scrolled 2 left of my homescreen yesterday to see the headline 'Study warns that sex in space is dangerous.'
I couldn't agree more. For starters the instant you unzip the fly on your suit your dead! Probably not what they were getting at but it was worth a chuckle.

You didn't need to be rooted to remove blinkfeed. Check out Q12 of the HTC One FAQ and you'll see a couple of ways to be able to get rid of it.
The other method, which requires rooting, is to install a custom ROM. I believe some ROMs may still have blinkfeed included though so you'll need to read the first post (at least) of the ROM threads to find out whether it has it or not

It's a nice feature to have, but give us the option to remove/disable it. I hate it when companies force stuff on you.
I see it's there, if I like it I keep it and if I don't I remove it, simple as that. Don't force me to use it.
