I am looking for an app that will start/stop airplane mode and WiFi at certain times of the day. I work in a basement with WiFi but no cell signal.
Thanks

i dont think there is an app to do that. is it really that hard to just shut off data and turn on wifi manually?
Automateit on the market can do that. Set triggers and it will do what you need when a certain trigger is met. Free too.

I use juice defender, it has night mode which can either disable data our put in airplane mode whatever time you set. It can learn your network location for wifi so its only turned on when your in the area of your wifi. it also shuts off 3g n 4g when your screen is off so texts and calls come in but it saves a ridiculous amount of battery for me at least.

I know this has probably been asked and answered but my search found nothing. Is there a way other than airplane mode to make the tab Wifi only? I have one for my kids and I don't want them accidentally turning off and killing the battery. Runng aokp_sgt7 4.1.2
Thanks

I'm 100% stock with the latest update! My One will get stuck with the 3g arrow up like it's uploading something...While this is happening I have no data connection. The only way to fix it is toggle airplane mode on/off and this only happens when my phone is on 3g.
Can this be a defective unit, App or maybe because sprint is working on NV all around me? I started receiving lte 2 weeks ago.
Btw this occurrs once every few days give or take

Ur not alone.......I've experienced this on several phones, including Samsung. Don't know what causes it, but the data toggle trick that you mentioned always works for me.
I haven't experienced this with any other phone except this 1 I will keep a close eye on it.

I've noticed it happens when there is work being done on your tower.

Ok, so have noticed this using the speedtest.net app.
When the phone is brought out of stand by / sleep, my download speed is 3 meg, which is slow , if I turn Wi-Fi off and back on, and redo speed test, I get my full speed of 60-70 meg.
I have tested to see if turning the power savers off make a difference, and have checked that keep Wi-Fi on during sleep is on. Nothing seems to make a difference.
Any comments. ??

I don't use wifi that much so I can't say I've noticed. I have noticed however, when my phone's been asleep, I often have issues with mobile data not being on ... It is fine for large periods of time when I'm using my phone more regular but if I leave it for a while it usually says "Turning On" in settings and often never changes until I tuen it off and let it settle lol.

I have exactly the same issue as you describe. I'm on the Europe version.
Only turning on and off wifi gets it back to max performance....
Oh good. I'm glad I'm not alone...I am in the UK, wonder if it's just related to Europe ?

I don't expect that it is region related. Maybe nobody checks the data speed with speedtest.net....
Is there another app to test your data speed because maybe it is related to speedtest.net?

Tested it with another speed test app and the results are the same.... So it is related to the device itself...
Yep I have also tested with another, and its the same .
Just had a load of play store updates, slow download speed, turn WiFi off and on and then the speed dramatically improves.
Definitely a problem.

UPDATE.
Well, today I did a phone reset...this appears to have resolved the problem.
A bit of a pain, even with HTC backup, it's still taken me a few hours to get everything set up.
Will see if the Wi-Fi remains sorted over the next few days.

I have the same issue with a HTC One bought through Dial-a-phone and on the O2 network. I sent my first HTC One back
for a replacement, but the replacement has the same problem, so it's not a fault with the handset hardware per-se, more likely
the wifi chipset or firmware.
I have also found that the wifi does not automatically switch between access points on the same SSID, i.e while walking
through a building - it just hangs on to the on it associated with first and won't switch to a better AP even if you're standing
right underneath it. Very irritating. I have found the app 'WiFi Fixer' to be of some use in reconnecting. That also seems to
act the same as turning the wifi on and off, so avoiding the low speed issue.
Interestingly, in my testing, while the speed test app has been showing the downstream limited to 2mit, transfers back and forth
to my local NAS have been fast. It's almost as if the 2mbit 'cap' only applies to traffic going through the default gateway (usually
a home router or the like) but the problem manifests on corporate LANs too with sophisticated Cisco equipment, so you can't really
blame the LAN.
I've logged a ticket with HTC which was allegedly 'escalated' but I'm not that hopeful of a positive outcome!

How many times can one return a phone for replacement for the same issue? At some point can I request a different device? I'm on my second "one" and it has the same connectivity issues my first one had. Can I at some point ask for a different phone.

You sure its the phone and not issues with the network ? Where I work, we only allow a total of 3 (original, swap, and another swap)

It's already been replaced once. Where I live I have pretty good service, but there are times when I drop my connection while I have a good connection. What happens after the third replacement?

You haven't described the type of issue that you're having. Remember, the bars only indicate voice signal strength.

3 swaps within 1 year. This would be through Asurion. At the Sprint store they will swap it 3 times before offering you a comparable model. If you want to keep the same phone then they can swap it as many times, in store, as you would like.

I can be using various apps like poker F.B or even the browser. Take the internet for instance. I can be using it and at any time it will loose connection. Same with playing poker. While I usually get connected within a minute, it's still annoying. I can't tell that I have good connection cause when it is on it loads pages fairly quick.

I get that a lot on my Note 2. Usually its the phone switching back and forth from ehrpd to 1xrtt. Either your towers are being worked on or are over capacity like mine.. Worst data experience ever. After 10yrs I might bite the bullet and switch carriers, can't take it any longer..

Until your area is complete or a Radio update is released your phone will continue to act like this..Only way I could make mine stable was to run it in CDMA mode only and completely ignore 4G until more towers fill the gaps.

I get the same issue and have come to find a workaround that fixes it. This only works for 3G, but if you switch your network settings from LTE/CDMA to CDMA only you won't have any issues. I never get the issues that you explain while on 4G, but I constantly get them on 3G. Get that fix a try and let me know if it works :good:
Go into settings them power and turn off data sleep.

Call sprint. Have them verify your SIM ID and UICC ID under settings/about/Phone Identity. Make sure they have the same number on your account as the phone. They may argue with you that the number doesn't matter accept for International but make them check anyways. If you have 4G in your area it will matter.....or even if its just Network Vision. Just keep pressing them to verify. If they are different have them connect you to activation's and have them fix it.
So after update to LP Tasker is not working. I had it set up to turn off 4g and background data when screen would time out then reconnect when screen wakes up. Suggestions?

Can't be done without root on Lollipop. Found that out after updating today too. So frustrating being locked out of so much
You can't do it even with root I use Llama on Droid Maxx running cm12.1 and it doesn't work. They changed something in the code that doesn't allow it anymore. It sucks my battery life is taking a hit.

If you figure out how to do that while on Lollipop, there's a bounty for you to claim...
AFAIK, you're SOL.

It can't be done automatically. The quickest way I've found is to use the two-finger swipe from the top to get to the quick settings menu then hit the cell signal icon. If anyone finds a way to do it automatically, please don't hesitate to say something! I get horrible reception at work so I now have to manually tell it to turn off mobile data every day. Kinda sucks.
Drew, I'm In the same position. Weak 4g signal that's why I have always used Tasker, paid version, to control it.

Has anyone tried using AutoInput and Tasker to leverage the toggles in the pulldown as a workaround?
