(q) bootloader - XPERIA X8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it true that if the devs crack the bootloader.. And if we install a costum kernel..
And if something goes wrong then can we repair the phone with pcc and seue or is it bricked forever?

I think we will can use seus.

we won't be able to repair the phone with seus but we have x10flashtool!

There are two kinds of brick.
Soft Brick - The common/usual brick we talk about in the forums which can be repaired with SEUS or Flashtool
and...
Hard Brick - You can get this only if you mess with the bootloader. This kind of brick is NOT repairable. That means your phone is going to the trash can.

[Q] difference with semi brick and hard brick??

im pretty confuse of these two terms here, semi and hard bricks. for what i know semi brick is when you see the phone--->pc thingy on your phone after a flash failure. and can be resolve by a JIG or tricks to get into download mode.
but what about HARD BRICKS?? can they be resolve with a JIG or tricks? what are the symptoms of hard brick phones? is there anyone from the forum that could not enter download mode with the use of JIG or tricks?
pls answer the following. it will help me with my phone before flashing.
Hard brick is just like soft brick, but you cant go download or recovery menu, and you have to send it to shop where you bought it.

You cant use JIG if your phone is hard bricked.
And, well your phone bricks if you flash wrong file with odin (sometimes) or wrong .zip
IN XDA/SGS 1 bricked means phone wont boot may be described as soft brick as its probably recoverable . Only one culprit in a soft bricked phone the user has not bothered to read/follow instructions .
Recovery is usually via download mode /jig and flash a stock rom .
Hardbricked dead never ever recover nothing the user can do combination of above or blown hardware .

I guess the guy recently on the Q&A forum had who did a fatal mistake on flashing (see attachment).
Semi bricks seem to happen far more often but from what I read here it doesn't really matter much on the SGS. I'm way no expert but it sounds you gotta mess up big time to hard brick it or be extremely unlucky when flashing boot loaders or something (correct me if I'm wrong).
Hard bricked phones have to be sent in for repair afaik. There are also some guys trying to figure out a different kind of cable to get into some more advanced service mode or so for hard bricks (?).
Anyways, what to do when you semi brick? Usually go to download or recovery mode and flash again.
My very first flash was about enabling these modes (my SGS came without them) so I had neither mode and semi bricked (better use direct USB). Luckily, thanks to all the info on XDA I knew I'd be screwed if things go wrong so I bought myself a JIG dongle off Ebay prior and thus could plug it in, get into download mode and re-flash, all fixed.

There are two types of bricks ---- soft and hard..
Soft can be repaired at home( personally),,,,,
Hard bricks cant be repaired personally ,,,maybe if u r talented enough to get it right ,,,otherwise u have to send it to Service centers.....

If you can restore the phone through PCC or Flashtool it is NOT a hard brick!
You may want to look around and read stuff to get behind the meaning of what "hard brick" really means.

I read that hardbrick is you cant go to xrecovery by tapping back arrow.
My phone was xxxx bricked when I tried to flash this xgin rom via CWM. First its intalled, then boot (i tought its a normal boot) but my phone got white screen after booting. No hard buttons work. That I can do is remove the battery. And reinsert. And press power button on. I try to go to xrecovery by tapping back arrow, its not work!!! Still booting, and got that damn white screen.
So what brick I was?
Xxx brick?

Is xxx brick a porn brick? xD
A hard brick means that you can only revive it using a special cable that makes contact on some pads under the white sticker (and special software)..
A hard brick means you need to send the phone for repair.
Ps: in my opinion there is just one type of brick, it's called "bricked", plain and simple. If you managed to recover you phone it means it was never bricked in the first place. A bricked phone cannot be recovered without making a direct connection with the ROM chip.

[Q] Hard Brick Se w8

I'm new here. so hello..problem is my SEw8 is broken (hardbrick) no light, no vibration, and i can't connect it in flash tool. is there any way I can recover my phone without sending it to Sony??. I just tried unlocking the boot loader and then a few seconds it turned off and then I tried to turn it on again and it's dead as in DEAD. my phone manufacturing date is 12W06. I will trash this phone if there's no way unbricking it my self
Nope bro. U can't unbrick it by youtself.
But if u can find a guy who own a jtag box, then u can unbrick it.
Otherwise u must send it to a repair shop or if u have warranty send it to se

Good notice Joku1981 also if the flashing went wrong you might hard bricked your device!(and thats very very bad) But if you can enter flashmode or fastboot mode you should be fine just repair the kernel.

Hard bricked device is a device with fried circuit board (all the guts of the device are useless) the device wont respond and the only way to repair is if you send it using your warranty to sony and they will change the board.
If you are out of warranty it will cost you a bunch and it would not worth it (in my opinion)
