To TheCubed - LG Revolution

Thank you for all your hard work with the revo.... This is in regards to Cyanogen. Get it done! Thanks again for everything else you've done we all appriciate it.

I'm sorry but that is no way to encourage anyone to put in many, MANY hours basically for free. Thecubed has been very busy with personal life stuff and hasn't been able to work on it as much as he would like. When it gets to a point of release he will release it. He is taking helpers if you want to help him get it done faster! If not, just sit back, wait and follow the one rule of CM, don't ask for eta's.

I agree not everyone can put there life on hold just to do these things. He has done alot for us so far and more to come, we just have to be patient and wait for the release.

Developers and Site Staff needed! XDA Insider

OK, I'm going to keep this nice and simple. I spend a good 3 - 5 hours each week making a 5 minute show. I easily spend twice that time searching for people to be on it.
Please make my job easier If you, or someone you know, want to be on XDA Insider, PLEASE let me know either here or by PM!
Thanks everyone!
I'd love to. Could be a me/Bob duo thing. I'd also love to see supercurio, dj_steve, and of course cyanogen off the top of my head. I'll look around for people I forgot.

Why not persuade one of the admins ? That'd be awesome
Go with the most busy Admin, they must have something to say or the one thats been here for a long time to get there view on how XDA-devs has grown.

Just got the LG Thrill but forums seem dead, and not a lot being developed for this phone should I go ahead and return it and get something else?
Feedback would be greatly appreciated..

Do you like the phone? That should answer your question on whether to return it or not.
First off, this question should be in the general section as there is no "Development" going on in it.
Second, Overall, the Thrill is a great phone with Amazing potential when Gingerbread is finally released. When ICS is released, even better. I still feel that when Gingerbread hits, there will be a lot more development going on as no one wants to develop for Eclair since it will be updated in less than a month (hopefully).
With the tri-dual technology, this thing could demolish the SGS2 if given the correct software.
Yes, more development is going on over in the SGS2 forums, so you have a tough decision to make my friend.
Ya I'm a flashaholic, so seeing this forum without very much development on roms is the only thing making me second guess my purchase, the phone itself on the other hand is a very nice piece of machinery...i mean i love the phone even in its stock form...but like i said im a flashaholic and love just tinkering with my phone...not a developer at all : / though I wish i were. I'm coming from a Mytouch 4G which I had sense 3.5 Android 2.3.5...so its just a whole new world to me I guess..

Im going to be honest with you i have been in this forum for more than a year (g1,hd2,mt4g,my touch, incredible, droid x and alot more i dont remember) if you see my numbers your are going to laught. but you know what i dont care because i dont know you but im here to learn of the devs if i can help i do or at least i try. But i not going to clicking thanks on every silly post. And honestly theres only a few posts deserve thanks in this bionic forum the rest are are just a waste of time. Like i said im not here for numbers and im not afraid to click the thanks but you are going to see my thanks on the posts i think really deserve.
This is no personal im just making my point and trying to help you with your question.
i prefer too see a member with 25 helpful posts than a member with 300 nonsense posts.

I use the xda app and don't see a thanks button. But does it make a difference if someone tells you thank you or hits the thanks button? A lot of the people who need help on here is because they haven't taken the time to read through the information and follow instructions. If they can't take time to read and follow instructions, can't really expect them to click a thanks button.

Unfortunately when I hit menu, it doesn't have a thanks button. I get refresh, reply, subscribe, browser, close.
I still stand by that majority of the help could be avoided in the first place if people would read and follow the exact directions. Most of the.questions on here have been answered many times and still get asked again. I am starting to see why so many developers have left xda.

Tap the post you want to thank and it's in that menu. If it's not in there then make sure you've got the latest version. It's been in for a while now so I'd be surprised if it was because you've got an old version, but you never know.
Not positive, but I don't think the free xda app has a thanks button

[BOUNTY] ICS or JB Rom for Revolution

I'm taking this idea from timmytim over in the tf300t forums (we need a bootloader adjustment, he made the bounty and xplodwild fulfilled it).to be working for the tf300t, ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1942369) so I thought we may as well try it here.
I personally pledge $20 to whomever is able to port/create an ICS or JB rom for the Revolution. Devs, please help us. There are many of us left here with this fantastic, but under-supported device. If you can help us, we'd be happy to return the favor.
If you too are cursed with not having enough $ to upgrade etc (or don't want to buy new hardware to replace fully functioning equipment), please pledge to donate to a dev (real pledges only please).
and for those that doubt. If you think this is a hopeless endeavor, if you believe this phone is dead (which many do), then you may as well pledge some $. There is nothing to lose. If we finally get the development we need, it will certainly be worth as much as a paper toss game in the play store. and besides, devs need our thanks in general (I'm considering building a retroactive bounty for Mt).
PS: PG, if you pull off your CM port, this hopeful bounty is all yours.
Lets try and revive this guys. It's a solid phone, it just needs a little love (and google now).
I'll keep track of the pledges in post #2
Reserved for tracking total etc.
Update 02/26/13: Total Pledge: $210!
If you have been thanked by me, your pledge is included in the total.

You guys are all greedy!

I'm tired of people bashing on these devs hard work, they have given so much and all you all can do is say how unstable the ROM is, if you don't like it don't use it. Because of your greediness it appears camcory has left, he will not receive messages and his most popular ROM thread has been closed. From now on if you run into a problem with a ROM, state the problem, not you personal opinion about the ROM. Why do you all think jocala doesn't dev anymore?
I'm done ranting for now but you all need to start respecting these devs before we lose them!

That's fine what you're saying but again, this is where I have issues. If all people want to hear is how great they are or their work is always perfect they are doing it for the wrong reasons. People who do nothing but praise are called "fanboys" and don't contribute any useful info. If people are name calling or trashing somebody's work that's different. Anytime I mention issues I am always specific with what they are.
I have mentioned my gratitude many times but if that's all that people want to hear these forums are useless.

Like I said, state the issue nothing more. If people just stated the issue they have, then you wouldn't be hearing my rant. Its like going to McDonalds and complaining that the food isn't cooked the way you like it.

This has been a problem on XDA for as long as I have been a member. There are a lot of people who just complain, or constantly say " fix it, fix it, fix it." Not everyone does this, but many do. Too many people forget that the Dev's are not obligated to release a rom or to even update it publicly. They do this for many different reasons. I agree state an issue, but part of the problem comes when an issue is overstated because people refuse to read. There is no reason to mention an issue 30 + times. Same goes for the questions that get repeated. Too many people want someone to come running to their aid. We were all noobs at one time, we learn by reading posts and trying ourselves. I just recently reread the rules and all of this is talked about there. I always appreciate our Developers and the work they release, even if it never leaves Alfa stage. I also appreciate the members who take the time to help others and offer good suggestions on a fix, or workaround. We should all keep in mind this question, if I were a Dev, would I want to deal with this?
End rant.

You are dead on about people harping on the same old crap all the time or saying "when is it going to be fixed?" They should just be ignored and eventually they will go away hopefully. It also doesn't help when so many senior members who had good comments to offer most of the time are now gone.

It's true that a lot of people don't do their research before asking questions. But what I find even worse is when people respond with answers like 2 weeks or bashing the person asking the question. I find it would be easier to just ignore or direct them to q&a rather than cluttering the development threads.

Some people respond with "2 weeks" when ETAs are asked by another user, which is considered a major faux pas. I do agree however that when ETAs come up no one should respond. I also don't think anyone should be bashed however it's hard when you get some who just flat demand things and act like a Dev is asleep at the wheel or negligent for not posting a fix or update. It's hard to believe people actually will say stuff like "when you gonna fix it, huh?" Yes, that kind of English too.
It's like a hundred dswaggz going around asking them to fix the problem (originally he asked for ports, hey just saying XD)
not all noobs are bad
I think this place is great! I haven't posted much because I'm not a dev. I have little to contribute other than my testing experiences and the occasional $5.
A year ago I would have told you rooting is pointless and custom ROMs are dangerous, but I've had a hugely positive experience with XDA and the roms these devs have released. Given the wide user appeal the site offers,(remember this is something for free, rare these days,) you can't hate on the people that don't get it.
It seems like XDA draws both those that have the open source mindset, and a very small minority of people that have no idea how a cell phone works, or could change a tire for that matter. They don't know what kind of time and effort goes into software and they don't care to know. These are people that can't help themselves. They see something cool and they want it.
Remember though, this is a small portion of people, so a better statement here, I think would be "occasionally, one of you is greedy."
Just my 2 cents.
"Nothing says I'm sorry like money," -Arnold Rothstein
And how hard can it be to click the thanks button? I do it for every OP when I use their ROM or their work or whatever. But when I have my own work viewed over 50 thousand times and downloaded over 1500 times, and receive 75 thanks, then have people ask if I can do this or that or fix this or that, most of THEM not clicking "thanks," I understand how frustrating it can be...
