I have to make a lot of calls to conference #'s and such, and I consistently find myself panicking when I have to enter a pin or entry code, because the back light has gone off (screen blank), and when I do figure out the right key to press to bring it up, the keypad is no longer there. I have to press the "show keypad" button. Usually by the time I figure that all out, if I haven't already inadvertently hung up the call, I've timed out for the response.
Anyway, making a short story long.... Is there anyway, while on a call, to keep the dialpad and backlight on?

I suspect you meant "Kaisertweak", not "kaiser tools". Thank you. I was able to weed out the reg hack to keep the backlight on longer. It wasn't clear that this also addresses keeping the keypad up.

And the final answer is... how do you do this. (Infallable ones: please spare us the read, search mantras...)
Bump
Bump. Anyone? Thanks in advance. This small change would really be a great useability enhancement for normal phone use.
KaiserTweak
Download KaiserTweak and disable Fast Sleep. There are a lot of tweaks included that make the Kaiser/Tilt better.

Is it just a very strange description for this reg tweak? "Fast Sleep" sounds totally different than "Disable Automatic Call Status Switching". Is this a 2 for 1 change? Can someone simply post the exact registry change, that is easier for me?
Bump (again)
Wow, lots of comment, incorrect and corrected comments. Potentially cryptic solutions. Anyone with a simple registry change. Sure would be much appreciated.

Just download the F-ing application and make the change. It automatically changes the registry entry so you don't have to worry about it. Your question was answered, there's no need to bump this thread because it wasn't answered in the way you wanted it to be.
Thanks

Thanks man, really friendly and mature comment. Is there really a need to start with the "F-ing" language. Grow up, requesting a registry edit is really acceptable from my experience on this board. I simply prefer to manage all of my registry changes manually.

Just to give you a heads up this program "KaiserTweak" works really well. I have used it myself now on 3 different ROMS and have had no issues. I highly recommend it.
You are all WRONG
kierol, Hejdemann, madmatt079, and Bellfazar.
You guys are ALL WRONG! OK some of you are only 50% wrong.
A particularly big "screw you" back to Bellfazar for the unjustified "know it all" and rude attitude. See below from PM-ing with KaiserTweak author Chainfire.
The point is that there are two separate issues, clearly delineated by mooshwa in reply #3.
From swamp2 to Chainfire:
Sorry to bother you with a PM. I really dig your program and all the great reg edits you have put together. I prefer to manage my reg mods manually. Folks keep telling me that there is a reg edit in your program that disables the automatic switching, after placing a call, from the keypad to the call status window of the dialer. I would simply like to disable this automatic switching and not change anything else. I would greatly appreciate you sharing this reg edit with me. By the way in case it is relevant I have the AT&T branded device with the AT&T dialer as well. Thanks in advance.

Reply from Chainfire to swamp2:
AFAIK there is no Tweak in KaiserTweak that does this, though it may be some side-effect of another tweak. If you are interesting in the tweaks themselves, read the XML document format description on the KaiserTweak page and just download KaiserTweak and review the XML file. All tweaks are in there.

Lastly just to be 100% clear I am using the disable fast sleep tweak and that works great but it IS NOT a side effect of this tweak to accomplish what I was posting about, disable automatic call status switching.
how do you get rid of the att/3g on startup on a tilt?
ill add a question to that
or can someone tell me how to get rid of the sound
I'm also new here, but you guys are about to get nailed for not using the search for this question.... Hold on and take it like a man...

Doug,
Thanks a bunch for this tip! I was wondering the other day if it was possible to silence that annoying sound. Much appreciated!
Thanks.
Didn't someone make a thread... and a MOD made it a STICKY just for ATT TILT NEWBIES? I know pressing a search button and typing a key word into a box is difficult, but there is also a sticky just FOR YOU.
I think you should have to take some type of IQ test before having a TILT.
(This is actually more of a universal question, but...) How do I disable the annoying ass AT&T animation at startup?
You need a mobile registry editor to do this:
go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\StartupAnimation
just set the "enabled" value to 0 and that will get rid of THE most annoying startup animation/sound ever (thanks to myself)

The thread to address ALL TILT-specific questions It was made JUST FOR you:

May not be my place...
Some of you are a bit harsh. This is a forum and it is here for a purpose; supposedly for seeking help.
Thanks Doug - I didn't know about that tweak either.
For those who use KaiserTweak you can add this to your XML file instead of using a registry editor:
<tweak>
<title>ATT Startup Animation</title>
<value disabled="disabled" advised="advised" value="0">Disabled</value>
<value default="default" value="1">Enabled</value>
<key>HKLM\Software\HTC\StartupAnimation\Enabled</key>
<description>Enable or disable the ATT startup animation.</description>
</tweak>

no excuses. i should have known better, but thanks all for the help.
dear friends i have tried it all - and with no luck ,
did any one manage to fix the screen issue that after you dial its shuts off the scren and then you have to press power to see the screen again ?
with love to solve this issue please .
thanks
First, it's a feature and not a bug
Second (because that usually comes after first, and since I started with 'first' there surely must come a second no?), have a look at the sticky on top of this forums. The tweak should be in there.
Arg! I'll give you the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=398265
O my, I'll give you tweak as well:
8. Prevent screen switching off during phone call --> HKEY_Local_Machine\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL\EnableFastD ormantDisplayDuringCall to 0 (Note: does not work on all ROMs)
And doing a search might help as well, I've read dozens of stuff about turning this feature off. As I believe the tweak (see above) doesn't always work.
edit: Oeh, just remember a dutch topic thingy somewhere claiming they got it figured. Gimme some time to look around.

During call the light sensor can also switch the backlight off. This setting will that disable.
Ah yes, that's the extra 'solution' I've found as well. Doesn't that disable the automatic changing of the backlight as well?

a little impatient? did you do some searching on your own?
I don't know if it helps, but try the following settings and report back
\HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\InCall\AttenuationCategory
Default: 2, set to 1 (maybe even 0)
\HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\InCall\InitVol
Default: 3, set to 10
maybe you have to change InCall2 and InCall3 as well, give it a try if the above doesn't help
cheers
help

Where i can find this settings?? pls help
Hi! I'm on darky's 9.4 and i can't send mms.. i don't know why it is like this but do anyone of you know a fix for it? =) thanks!
Check your mobile carriers APN values. Then go into your phones settings.
Wireless & network>Mobile networks>Access Point Names.
Make sure all the values are correct.
Where can I find those values?
Who is your mobile carrier? What region? Where's your google skills?
I'll see what I can find, I just need the info.
cheers for being so awesome
Mobile carrier is Telenor in sweden
http://www.phoneontherun.com/carriers_en.php?v_pais=59
Select your region and network, and make sure those values are correct.
I did that but still, it just keep saying ''Sending'' and nothing happens :/
When you went in to the Access Point Names section of the phone, did you adjust the values in both sections? There is an Internet section, and an MMS section.
If that doesn't solve your issue I have no idea what it could be. Might be a rom issue. If you still can't get it working, maybe ask someone in Darky's thread in the development section.
I did it on both.. :/ I'm realy greatfull that you tried. You're great!
I'm sorry I couldn't help you out with your problem, and you are welcome.
If I can think of anything else it could be, I'll post it here.
Thank's alot
I think I may have found something...
Dial this code into your dialer.
*#1234#
What does it say next to CSC?
thanks alot
sorry bout the wierd second ''thanks alot'' reply.. i didn't notice that a second comment tab opened up.. anyway it says : I9000OXXJS1
Hey, no worries weirdo
We're going to try something.
I need you to go to Settings>About Phone>Status. Write down your imei number.
Then in your dialer, dial this code. *#272*imei#* (your number goes where imei is)
Tell me what 3 letter code is selected for your phone. Do not touch anything yet. To leave that menu just back out with the back button.
it says XEN
