Hi everyone,
i have the following problem: when i get my mail via pop3 from googlemail i also receive the send messages which are stored in google in my inbox.
The support from T-Mobile said they know the problem and the know it has to do with the setting, but they can't tell me which the setting is.
Can somebody help me please.
Gmail is currently adding IMAP to all users. log in and check your gmail settings to see if you gmail acct has it added yet. if it does, try using imap instead on your kaiser.
I actually have IMAP setup through gmail on my Wizard. I recieve the message headers but the bodies of the mail are blank. Not sure if I have something set wrong but AFAIK my phone is told to download the full message, no size limitations.
Change your account settings on the Kaiser. It's set to pull headers only and you can tweak that considerably. I'm getting all the text, but leaving attachments there.
You arent alone, buddy.

I have no problems with my Gmail account when I access my mail using the POP settings. When I try to access my email using the IMAP settings I have the same problem with the body of my messages coming up blank. I guess the IMAP server is so new, they are having problems showing threaded messages...
Yep, same issue for me as well.
its a common issue for all users of pop...it has something to do with their chat-style interface, even in pop.
i stopped using it because the sent messages get so annoying to delete. i just make gmai.com my home page now
The biggest problem I met when using Captivate is the time for email sync. I have two accounts, one Gmail and one hotmail. Normally it would took 1-2 minute to sync the Gmail account, but for the hotmail account it always costs more than 5 minutes and sometimes after 5 minute waiting it showed "connection error" sign and I have to refresh again. I tried both home wifi and 3G network, and the waiting time is similar. I don;t know how your Captivate perform in sync emails. Is my waiting time common or I need to change some setting to improve the performance? Thanks!
Is your Hotmail setup as an Exchange account or a POP account on your phone? As of 8-30, you can now use exchange for Hotmail accounts and it will push emails to your phone. The only drawback is that it doesn't support HTML emails yet, just text. Search 'Hotmail Active Exchange' for the settings.

Does Push Notification (not enabling 'Auto-Synch') works with GMail App? I am not getting it to work while GMail App overview on market say 'Email pushed automatically to your phone'

SGN (GT-N7000), 2.3.6
My phone has the same problem. Mails arrive at random, but are not pushed... My gmail app is v2.3.5.

I am not sure, but I think you have to have auto sync enabled for push to work for Gmail.

Yes. You need to enable Sync in your settings for push email to work.
Without Autosync On, gmail push mail will not work, but if you configure 'Email' or Social Hub, then you can set it to fetch mail at certain duration e.g. every 5 min. or 30 min like this

but then that's not the push mail but rather gmail app will keep polling. i am concern about battery drain.I will try to configure gmail account in Samsung native email client and see how it goes.
My experience : Samsung native enail checking freq @ 5min, draining much more battery thn gmail sync ON
here is how you push G mail-I've been doing it for a couple of years
You set it up as an Exchange account like this:
enter user name and password
do manual set up
select Exchange
leave domain blank and /your user name as is
leave password as is
change server to m.google.com: 443
select push
Syncs just like any other Exchange account.

I doubt...my observation is i get email on SGN as soon as delivered on my laptop for exchange account and having 'Auto-synch' disable so not possible unless Samsung native email app do continuous 'polling', which i really doubt so it looks genuine push service to me.

Thanks...i wasn't sure about server name and thought need to enable pop-up forwarding on gmail account first but tried above and working perfectly.
Just minor point is you can't put ':443' as server name in exchange server, that do not allow to configure the account so i put 'm.google.com' as server name and working perfectly fine.
Hi.
I search and searched and couldn't find the answer.
Exchange Server email (in stock Email app) account doesn't display or sync Sent Items. I can receive emails perfectly (Inbox), but when I want to see my Sent Items, the folder is just empty, I hit on Refresh and nothing. Someone knows a fix? Thanks.
I am running Rocket ROM V1 ICS, with LPF Kernel.
Never mind, I just delete the account then create it again and now it is working as it should.

I believe you can add your gmail account to the stock email app so gmail will show up on the watch but do incoming gmail have the push feature in the stock app?
Thanks

What is the name of the stock email app, trying to get step by step instructions to this.
The stock app auto-configures Gmail as "push." I'm guessing it's IMAP behind the scenes and it only applies to e-mail, not tasks or the calendar.
Try this, it is working for me for Hotmail.com and Gmail.com accounts.
1- Went to Stock email app(looks like a white envelope with @ symbol in middle.
2- Created hotmail.com account(dont go through manual process of setting account) and selected "push" for sending emails to Note/Gear. Put your email address and password, follow the steps and you are done.
3- Create gmail.com account and do the same as step #2.
4- Go in your Note to Settings-General-Accounts. Select the Google account and hit enter, Uncheck box by Sync Gmail.
This is how I have it set up and Hotmail as well as gmail emails are coming into the Note and Gear.
Someone correct me if I am wrong.

I am getting proper notifications for Gmail account by pushing the mails to the stock Email app also.
It's working very nicely.
If you set up Gmail in the stock email app, can you still use the Gmail app to read and rely on the phone?
I like the Gmail app as it is seamless between phone and laptop in terms of marking as read, sorting into folders etc.

You need to enable the pop3 support in the Gmail settings page first before adding the Gmail account to the stock Email app.

Can't get this working either, no notifications from stock email app with my 2 gmail accounts. Notifications are set for stock email and accounts seem to be pulling mail down so not sure why my gear isn't telling me I have mail

You need to use stock email app and when you get to a screen about server, there is a drp down option and select push. You need to also go in your ear app and in setting, there is a section for choosing which apps to send to Gear. Select stock email app, send yourself a test email and should work.
Ian B
That's exactly what I did, no notifications though

See post above me. Make sure you DO NOT choose MANUAL in the stock email app when setting the gmail account choose the option to the right of that for the system to do it all for you. In the next page I believe is where the drop down option at the top is to select PUSH.
If you like, send me a pm with your phone number and I can call you when you want. I think that will be easier than trying to go back and forth with emails.

Yes, in the PC browser, go to your Gmail page and then to Settings.
There you will see tab menus on the top. Choose Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
Then, you will see the option to enable POP.
After that, you can just add an account in the stock email app to deliver Gmails with the option of "push" delivery automatically.

Weird as I did not have to touch my MAC to get the emails from Gmail to work with my Gear. All I did was set up the account in the stock email app, select the auto set up, select PUSH in the next setting screen and voila, emails coming to the Gear. I did have to go into the Gear app setting and check the email app to send notifications to the Gear.
All is well in my world and hope we can help one another get their emails and texts going.
Want to remind everyone that only the stock text and email apps are allowed to send info to the gear. If you are using something else, you may get the notification but, nothing else. You will then have to go into the phone to view the text or email.

Hy
I've had the same issue, no notification at all, i've tried everything, but now solved it.
Everytime i've sent e "test-mail", my phone (galaxy note 2) was not in sleeping mode. As i gave up trying, suddenly my Gear was pushing a new mail that came in.
So for me, it only works when the phone is not awake (what makes sense in my opinion). Hope that helps someone others problem too.
Good luck.

That makes sense to me. I don't want the notifications to clog up my watch if I am already looking at the phone.
That only wastes the battery life of the watch. Smart!
