Hi,
This is a small CWM zip to add the [email protected] line to your existing boot and recovery partitions to fix the ram issue with the international unlocked bootloader. If the second mem is already there it does nothing.
The point of this is you can have a regular recovery flashed and fix the ram issue without wondering what tegra part you have, it preserves your serial number as well. More useful with stock boot images than custom ones that already have this done.
To use:
Flash with a CWM recovery supporting edify scripting. That means you have an unlocked recovery basically. The program inside the zip can be used on it's own to list the cmdlines already in your phone, or to set them to something else.
As cmdline, it lists, as setcmdline it sets the entire thing, as addcmdline it adds on to the end of the existing cmdline.Cheers!
Great! Looks like our bell friends are having good development as well.

So would i need to flash this once and then any ROM I install will have fixed RAM, or do I need to flash this after every installation?

You can just keep it handy on your sdcard and use when needed, it depends on the "rom" you flash, it may or may not have a ram fix solution built in.
Cheers!

It depends on the Kernel the Rom has within it, nothing else.
Furthermore, no offense. But this is kinda useless now. Did you not know we have unified Kernel's? If someone made a Rom without a unified kernel, they can basically shove that Rom.
I do not see a point in this at all. I guess maybe for testing old Roms.....

Hi,
I addressed this already in the OP. It's more for use with stock kernels.
Can you compile the motorola kernel source (pick one) and get a binary exact match for the stock Bell kernel?
No offense to the guys working on kernel's here, but I am not really compelled by the added features/bug fixes, and am concerned more about stability, especially when the source seems to be ATT based. Which is fine if you are running an ATT framework "rom/theme" I guess, even better if you have an ATT phone.
Cheers!

With Z4Mod's kernel module flashing ability is it possible to flash an already written Glaxay S variant OC module? I assume voltages and stable frequencies are identical.
I've never flashed a module using Z4Mod but I recently tackled Odin and I'm feeling adventurous
I'm willing to use my Galaxy Tab as the test bed so no one else has to worry about having an expensive paper weight for the holidays.

Simple advice: dont do it.
Never flash anything designed for another device. Yes, the GalaS and the Tab may be similar, but its where theyre not similar that make the big difference.

Thanks for the advice. Maybe I'll try a different route. Is the operating frequency contained in the build.prop? If I try tweeking the frequency w/o flashing a module I believe the worst I could do is freeze the device. Then a fix would be as easy as a reflash from a backup or use rotohammer's .tar.

no the frequency and voltage settings are set in the kernel! you would need to recompile the kernel and then flash the new kernel from heimdall or odin!
i almost finished an overclock kernel but i dont want to flash it when im done because im afraid to brick the device and i have problems compiling it and i dont have so much time atm because i have to do tests at school so i need to learn! but i can give u the files u need to edit if u want so
Off topic, but I dig your handle. Mixes my name and Android I'll give it a shot. Send them my way and I'll see what I can do. I'll have to brush up on my Linux skills though. so u need to mess around with the kernel source, i can upload it if u want so!
but if u already got 'em, u need to mess with these files:
GT-P1000_kernel.tar/Kernel/drivers/cpufreq/
there is the freq_table and the cpufreq.c and we need to find a way to edit them and speed up our hummingbirds! we should also take a look at the manhattan project! they managed it to overclock the galaxy s!
If you could, post the link for me. I'm at work now so there isn't much I can do but I'll definitely start tinkering when I get home.

It has an option to flash just zImage by itself. Failing that you could always just reflash the whole thing.
That was my assumption and why I'm not too scared to give this a shot.
Heimdall
I'm having trouble finding a dl for Heimdall. Anyone know of a good link? Odin is fine but I'd like to mess around with Heimdall, broaden my horizons. Most of my Android knowledge comes from HTC devices so this as much a learning experience as it is fun.

As the name implies this is a bone stock rooted ROM with the exception of root and busy and its de-odexed.
I also updated all the apps. So its not really bone stock but.. Close enough
This ROM has two purposes...
1. For someone that wants just that, a stock rooted ROM with no mods.
2. For others that want to dive into development or at least tinker around with there own custom ROM. This is a great base to work from! All the menial tasks such as rooting and de-odeodexing have been done for you.
Hope you find value in this!

many define a custom rom by the option to compile a kernel from source.
we cannot include a modified kernel, without semi-bricking our devices.
but we can change startup and we can init kernel parameters a second time, to allow loading of different services and libraries, which for some is enough to load a customized kernel for graphics mod, removing adware, loading modules and porting cm10,aokp and other roms, like sense or similar miui roms.
i personally believe a port of highly modified rom, is custom. other believe its not a real rom
anyways with the clockworkmod i made its possible, as long as you do the same hijack when needed to change kernel init services or libraries to load.

lack of support from more developers i guess, seems other hardware devices are more popular, and propably much easier to get donations on that on a device with locked bootloaders where development stops at the locked device. today, donations is very popular and driving many towards popular devices.
This kernel is for users that have flashed the KitKat firmware but decided to return to a 4.1.2 based rom.
To clarify, This is for 4.1.2 Touchwiz based roms only.
Reason for new kernel:
The new KitKat bootloader does not allow offline charging to work properly with the older 4.1.2 kernels. This kernel fixes that issue and offline charging will work as it did on full stock 4.1.2 firmware.
What kernel is this?
This is @ketut.kumajaya's blackhawk 2.1 kernel (compiled by me) modified to work with the new KitKat bootloader. All credit is given to him for the original kernel and the new fix. I am posting this per his wishes.
Other Features:
See the original blackhawk thread for other features of this kernel.

Please there is something I discovered now. Whenever I open maps, after some time the tablet would freeze until I do hard reset.
I also discovered that much RAM is being used, seems the system doesn't manage RAM usage well again by closing some apps when RAM is getting used up. I think this is the reason for the tablet freezing. Even after factory restore, it continued that way. All these after installing the blackhawk kernel.
Can the kernel be replaced with stock by flashing through Odin? Or if there is any other remedy, I'll appreciate it much. Thanks

The kernel is universal, works for everything. Just flash the zip same process, boot into twrp and flash the kernel and then reboot.
It's as simple as that. If you want to return to stock then flash stock kernel zip, it's simple.

For those of us running LS your home and multitasking buttons will disappear. You can use pie controls to counter this. Also your lock screen won't work it will just shown your home screen when you dt2w or press the power to wake the device. I don't use a lock code so this is what happens to me. I love Franco's kernels after using them on my Nexus 7 and I can't wait to use this one once the issues are fixed.

to return to stock then flash stock kernel zip, it's simple.

Franco kernel updater. It's the app that companions the kernel which let's you update the kernel with a click of a button as well as tweak settings of the kernel and change colors and have profiles etc.
It's 30 percent off right now. Is it worth buying? Of course, it's on sale and still holiday season.

You can flash the kernel with on click via the app. Its painless and awesome. If you haven't used the app before check out the options there are even ones to save previous kernels and per app settings. The app is worth every penny.

thats nice to know, to bad i didnt make a backup of the original kernel. oh well.
another question. I selected the power saving mode, restarted the phone, and it wasnt highlighted anymore. Do i have to select one of the modes every time i reboot? Which mode is automatically selected after each reboot?

Why are you using the old app? Update it. It's been out for a week now.
Update to a custom rom that uses 5.0.2.

It should automatically apply, I haven't used Franco's kernel in a while since I sold my Nexus 7 (2013) a few months ago. A lot has changed in the app since then. I would try some things and see what happens.

It's obvious that you're pirating the app because the app isn't even called FKUBeta anymore. Buy the application and then your problems with the application will go away.
Also, stop saying ??? It adds nothing to the conversation

I don't mean to be rude or anything but yeah. Piracy isn't something we endorse on xda, it's a app that was well thought out in terms of design and is updated quite frequently. Plus it's on sale!
You won't regret buying it for the convenience of flashing newer versions of the kernel.
