bug on my diamond

Hi I have a diamond with original rom 1.37 ita but when I set MMS notifications I have two type of notification..."downloaded mms" and "new mms" but if I set new mms I have no sound when mms arrive
any information about it

Android+MMS+Sprint=?

Whats the word on sending mms on sprint through android on a vogue? im able to receive but i can't send.

It's possible to get it to "send"....
Go to Menu > Settings > Wireless controls > Mobile networks > Access Point Names
Hit Menu > New APN
Name: MMS
APN: MMS
MMSC: http://63.215.195.152/servlets/mms
MMS Port: 80
APN type: MMS
Hit Menu > Save. REBOOT.
(I think I may have also entered the MMSC and MMS Port under the Android Internet APN, but not the other stuff -- I did get it to send, just not go anywhere. I messed up my Internet APN afterward and had to re-load so I lost my settings)
HOWEVER, the message never makes it to the recipient. Android won't complain it's un-sendable, and will upload it, but Sprint doesn't do anything with it. Currently it seems like that setting acts as a black hole. Now this doesn't mean this is a dead end.
ArcSoftMMS for Windows Mobile uses these settings. However, I'm not sure if any additional settings are used.
63.215.195.152 = mms.sprintpcs.com (ping it if you don't believe me)

However, the Mms.apk messaging application needs to be modified to spoof a particular UserAgent. It should be the same one as in Windows Mobile. This will require a recompile of Mms.apk, along with distributing an androidupdate.tar.
Until then, it'll go through, but won't be relayed.

nice detail thanks, maybe in the future.

This should be pretty easy once we have said user-agent. I don't want to have to go all the way back to Windows Mobile to get it though - if anyone's seen it before, let me know and I'll see if I can get the package working.

I don't think anyone's gone down this road. Verizon people can do MMS, just do X-VZW-MDN=<phonenumber> instead. Sprint appears to have some extra filtering...
I installed Windows ArcSoftMMS and can sucessfully send MMS messages. We'll have to reverse-engineer what's being replicated there.

There's also a device capability link that's usually sent to the server.
For example, for Rhodium, this is sent:

I'm not sure what else is sent to the server. There's an entire Rhodium PPCGeeks thread devoted to getting HTC Messaging in Manila 2.5 to work on Sprint. They've been thus far unsuccessful. They, too, are currently chasing down the useragent stuff.

I was talking to someone in the Sprint Hero forum, and they said the hero people had to rebuild Mms.apk and add:

Add to the existing APN. Hit menu/power, then save.

Okay guys, I looked further into what WinMo is doing.
Apparently the cab I posted that works on my phone is for the Palm Treo Pro.
If you install it and look in:
HKLM,"Software\Arcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\mm1\WspHeader"
You'll see there's a whole bunch of settings. The UAProf points to sprint's website itself, identifying it as a Treo.

That's the sprint messaging server (http://mms.sprintpcs.com). You need to use the VZW one.

I added http://mms.vtext.com/servlets/mms?X-VZW-MDN=<my10digitphonenumber> to the MMSC field, saved and rebooted and tried attchinging a picture to a text but it would not send. The envelope with the red circle icon on it remains there.

I think for VzW it needs to be 9 digit phone number.
Also VzW not VZW. Case-sensitive. That's at least what I read on the WinMobile forums.
According to here, it's otherwise:

I can't really answer further, as I don't use Verizon. Try searching the WinMobile forums for the proper settings. Make sure MMS works in WinMobile.

You could possibly try doing the user/pass thing from the 2nd thread in the Android APN.
If you open the cab in the zip file, you see a setup.xml. This contains the registry entries. If you open it in WordPad, search for "WspHeader". You should then see the proper setting for X-VzW-MDN (and what the proper spelling/case is).
You might need to install it and use PHM Regedit to go to the area in the registry WspHeader is at before that value will appear (it's populated by your phone number, that wouldn't be in the cab.....)

I'm not sure why Android can't receive. It's probably something in the SMS RIL that isn't being passed correctly. I think with MMS, a flag gets sent with SMS, and the client goes and fetches the picture. I'm not sure, so I'd have to look that up.
Good to know it works for VZW users though.
Though, make sure sending really works. On Sprint, it'll "send" but the other end will never receive it. Did you check if the other party received it?

ok not sure if this is really anything to add but here is what i have regarding my touch pro:
it looks like i can send mms. not sure if it's sending media with it but i can def. send. i sent to gmail and yahoo and both came as mms. can't add pics or videos (my thinking is because the camera is not working, it doesn't think it has the capabilities). i was able to attach an audio file (ring tone) though.
but it shows that it's coming from pm.sprint.com.

What is up with Bell's APN?

Ive been trying to use my Captivate with Bell. (Eclair, 2.1-update 1 from Odin)
I found the APN settings on Bell's site and they were forwarded to me by a tech support rep as well. In the "MMSC" box I am instructed to input this:

I'm sorry if it doesnt make a lot of sense but I can't post any links or images. The phone only gives me a one line text box for each value and no enter/return to put an extra line. Ive tried to input one or the other, tried adding spaces, ETC and I can't figure out a way to input this MMSC information. When I asked what the number meant and if it was entirely relevant (I could possibly just use the server?) The girl on the phone just kept saying "we don't support that" over and over again, and kept asking me to call Samsung.
Has anyone else successfully used a Captivate with Bell? If so, what does your APN settings look like? Thank you!

MMS issues on 3.22.1540.1 based roms

Some people are reporting issues when trying to send MMS messages on roms based on the android 4.3 Developer Edition release.
So far we have determined that this problem does not affect everybody nor does it seem to be data connection type; 2G, 3G, 4G, etc.
In order to try and find out what the cause is could you provide information to help try to determine the common factor here.

i can fine, seems like most of u have apn seperate...i notice everytime i set up i have 2 apns data one hipri(LTE) and mms(mms) id see the lte go off then back on after mms sent. all i did was addd the wapenc to the mmsc part of the data apn along with mms after default,supl,hipri, mms and saved it deleted the mms apn and now thw LTE and mms are in one apn and works fine : )im on tmobile usa with LTE *LTE stays for mms before during and after mms before it wouldnt
**tmobile customers try my settings in one apn it works flawless esp on LTE
*pics below make sure you ave mms on either one of the apns with the http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc in the mmsc line where u have the mms apn set at(either seperate or together)

thanks buddy...its fix for missing contact pics not sticking in message app but thats great that if it fixes the mms as well....think you are the official tester that it worked for

figured lol its apn issue everyone is having with mms. for tmobile customers u need apn with mms you HAVE to have this in the mmsc line " http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc "for mms to work along with mms in the the apn type(mine says: default,supl,hipri,mms) hipri(LTE)

can u post your apn settings for other at&t users to copy? as i did for the tmobile ones :good: prob help them out if they could match yours if your mms is working fine

Setting up the MMS profile
On the device, navigate to Access Point Names. (generally via Menu > Settings > Mobile data > Access Point Names).
Create a new Access point (Menu > New APN) and input the values listed below:
Name: EE MMS
APN: eezone
Enter the Username and Password listed below: - If no value is listed, leave the field blank.
Username: eesecure
Password: secure
Enter the MMS details listed below: -
MMSC: http://mms/
MMS proxy: 149.254.201.135
MMS port: 8080
Set the APN type to mms
Select Menu > Save.
Return to the home screen.
The settings are saved and the service is ready for use

Warning: Before installing the new settings MMS, check that they have not previously installed other settings MMS!
01) Press the [Menu] and select [Settings].
02) Select [Wireless & networks]> [Mobile networks]> [access point name].
03) Press the [Menu] and select [New APN].

This is interesting as I have the URL in my settings and not had the problem. Hopefully this will provide the solution for all.

[Q] Straight Talk apn settings for att g flex help

Ok i have a g flexand have been trying for days now to get mms going on this device. I have tried alot of diffrent combs of settings with no luck. Im not a total noob i was succesful at jailbreak and getting mms working on iphone and getting my wifes note 3 set up for straight talk. Any help would sure be appricated. No root on it it just how it was when it came out of the box

I am in the same boat, apn type is grayed out where I put apn setting..If you figure this out, please help me too. Thanks

That's the thing though. Yours is T-Mobile and not AT&T.

The issue lies in that AT&T has locked the ability to edit the APN Type field. Where you can normal type in: internet,mms,supl,hipri to get your MMS to work they have disabled the option. Those apps will not work. You need to follow the above mentioned comment and edit the system files with the correct settings.

Ah i see what you mean.

Solution for APN setting in G Flex
The solution with small application to be downloaded from Google Play Store called APN onoff with no need for rooting

Check that if 5457#*model# working?
This hidden menu have a "APN Edit" check box.
Check it and after reboot. You can edit settings

lg g flex d950 att straight talk.apn type work around
1. First pull out sim(do not power down)
2. No apns will be shown as there is no sim but add new anyways.
3. Fill in using all data needed. Input (internet,mms,supl,hipri) for apn type.
4. Save new apn.
5. Turn off and put in sim. Then power on once in.
6. Do not use the new apn type, use the original straight talk apn. (The newly made apn is working behind the first apn.
6. That's it!
