How to Install:
1-back up your Rom just in case.
2-copy the downloaded file to the Dir of the SD card.
3- using Root explorer navigate to System/Customize/resource and rename the original boot animation there(anything bootanimationold).
make sure to click on mount R/W for root explorer first.
4- copy and replace the old one.(make sure the new one named bootanimation)
5- make sure to set permission for the new bootanimation (same like the old one.All read/owner Read, write)
6- reboot and Enjoy....

Fantastic work. Amazing, best boot animation for VU. Can you also make shutdown animation?

Great job, looks so professional, its the best so far...

very very very good job

I installed on my Virtuous 2.35, but not working. Maybe due to the theme ... I will try to restore to non theme version and retry.

[Boot Animation]Red Eye Android

Hi! This is the first bootanimation i made.
i got a sequence of png files but i have difficulties in compiling them into a working zip file.
i would really appreciate that if someone could help me to make a working zip file. Those png files are in the attachment.
Lastly, if you have any idea about this animation, please leave me a comment.
Hi I've tried to make the zip file for you (and signed too) but...:
1. images must be 320x480 (at least for who has this resolution, like me with my g1)
2. must have 24bit and not 32 like yours..
I've resized them but I cant do that.. try to post them at 24 bit and I'll be happy to make the zip
..if you want to make it by yourself..
you have to make 2 directory, data and into data, local.
data/local
now make another 2 directory called part0 and part1.
place all the images into this 2 directory.
copy -> 320 480 15
p 1 0 part0
p 0 0 part1
in a text file called desc.txt
put part0, part1 and desc.txt into bootanimation.zip
so: data/local/bootanimation.zip
now you should sign!! .... or:
adb remount
adb push bootanimation.zip data/local
try with adb method, its long to explain how to sign, if you want pm me
Here u go have fun
Link
I use this program call fast-stone photo resizer, its a miracle tool
For the animated gif creation i used unfreez

actually, i have already tried that before, thanks anyway,
that's really very kind of you.
cool sound to go with and awesome bootanimation
okay so i really like your bootanimation but i wanted a sound to go with it so i found one off of Zedge, converted it to .ogg.
Just use root explorer and go to system/media/audio/ui and rename the bootStrapSound.ogg to bootStrapSound.ogg.old then copy and paste this file in the ui directory. reboot

Custom bootanimators

It's great to see that the Wildfire is getting some awesome custom ROMS built for it but there doesn't seem to be any custom bootanimators being made. I've made one but it's pretty shoddy so I was wondering if anyone else had come up with anything? If you've made one or know of any good custom ones post them below and maybe we can make this an official Wildfire custom bootanimator thread
This is my effort, it would be great if others could add theirs as well I'll put them in this first post for easy access.

well i thought you meant bootloader..Hboot .. but here you meant bootanimation.
On the subject of this, I still haven't managed to get my bootanimation file into my phone. I've tried the following:
Code:
adb remount
adb mv
adb push bootanimation.zip /system/media/bootanimation.zip
adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local/bootanimation.zip
adb reboot
It shows that the files have been transferred but when rebooting it still has the old animation. Any ideas anyone?
made an flashable zipfile with standard bootanimation in it.
just open the file (dont extract) and drag and drop that bootanimation.zip you wanna use insted into /system/customize/resource so the current bootanimation.zip get replaced with your custom bootanimation.zip.

EDIT: nvm found out and new bootscreen is awesome

[RES] SHUTDOWN ANIMATION (downanimation.zip) for SENSE based rom

Many of us tried to replace "downanimation.zip" which reside in (/system/customize/resource/) but ended with blank screen no matter how u pack the zip.
After countless try & error, here is the solution. The structure & format is remain the same as "bootanimation.zip" which will works if packed without compression (store compression level).
The only different is the way we zip as shown below.
# Running Linux :
* The correct zip command (im using latest Ubuntu on VirtualBox) is zip -0rD downanimation.zip <image folder> + desc.txt

3- open using winrar & delete all image files outside folder.
Thanks.

Just tried and put it in system/use/media and renamed and I just get a black screen your instructions are strange you said place on root then overwrite the old boot animation

sorry for the bad instructions. It was a quick write up as i was getting ready to leave for the night. Hopefully this clarifies the installation.
Im using ES File Explorer:
1.- give it root access and mount file system as writable (under settings, inside ES File Explorer).
2.- backup your current boot animation located it "/system/media/" (i just changed the extension from ".zip" to ".bak")
3.- copy or move the NEW bootanimation.zip file and place it in "/system/media/" location. If it asks you to overwrite say yes (assuming you backed up your original bootanimation).
4. Restart phone.
about the ambiguity of placing the file in root, you dont have to, you could place it anywhere, but essentially it needs to end up in "/system/media/"
It may be that you are placing the entire downloaded zip "Encrypted_Honeycomb" file there, what you need is ONLY the file called bootanimation.zip which contents should be:
desc.txt
android (folder)
VZW (folder)
[UPDATE] I noticed you are using an AOSP ROM, i forgot to mention that this worked for me on Das Bamf 4.9 Sense 3.0 ROM

In some cases, the bootanimation is in /system/customize/resource and may be using the file VZW_bootanimation (Verizon) or another provider-specific file name as the startup animation. BAMF ROMs changed the location back to the original Droid standard. If you have a system/customize folder, check /system/customize/CID/default.xml for the BootAnimation label towards the bottom of the file to see or edit the location of the bootanimation it will use.

Usually AOSP ROMs don't have one because it is meant for providers to add things like bookmarks, themes, and branding to generic software builds. "If" implies that it may not be, in which case that method will not apply to you. It depends on the ROM, but it is a possible alternative for those that find /system/media doesn't work or is missing the bootanimation.zip

You may need to swap out the bootanimation binary to make sure it supports this style of zip file. It is under /system/bin/bootanimation I would recommend getting one made for your device. If nobody can offer one, drop me a line and you can do a backup and try the one from mine.

[bootanimation] Glitch boot

Here is a little boot animation I whipped up for anyone that is a fan of the Glitch kernel...
This is the first bootani that I have ever made so bare with me...
I borrowed the intro from aokp boot animation and recolored it a bit then created the rest from Glitch images.

Full screen (480x800) http://dl.dropbox.com/u/55201903/bootani/bootanimation.zip
2) Move file to SD Card
3) Using file manager of choice copy and paste bootanimation.zip to data/local. Or you can put it in system/media (I rename the old bootani with a .old at the end.)
4))Reboot and thank me if it works
A .mtz version for MIUI was requested so I put one together. Let me know if it works

I didn't know how to make an animated preview. The android guy spins around.

Nice!
Alternatively, you can place the file in /data/local. This has a few advantages:
1. you don't need to remount as read-write (and you won't see a "readonly filesystem" error if you forget to)
2. it stays put until you do a full data wipe
5. three, sir!
3. it over-rides, rather than replaces, whatever is in /system/media ... including angry pink unicorns

Thanks for the heads up on data/local. I had read that somewhere but wasn't sure how that would work so I did a little research. Im just a road construction worker with a useless art degree
I added a full screen version in case anyone wants it...
Sounds legit. Thanks for posting this

Noob question...how do I change read-write to /system/media? Thought it was MOUNT data in CMW, but that does not seems to work.

Sorry if I'm a little confused by your question but are you trying apply this boot animation? If so, then just use a file manager like root explorer or astro file manager to copy the downloaded bootanimation.zip to the data/local folder.

Root Explorer and Ghost are not allowing me to do so, permissions are not granted. Any idea how I change that?

Are you hitting the "Mount R/W" button at the top of the screen in root explorer? It should say "mounted as R/W" next to it after doing so.

I assumed that astro and the other similar apps provided access to the necessary file locations but I was wrong.
Try this app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.root.browserfree
It is essentially the same as root explorer. Just find the downloaded bootanimation.zip and copy. Then find the data folder. Then find the local folder and hit paste. That's it. Reboot... cross fingers, and enjoy your new boot animation.
But after that, get back on here and hit the thanks button or it will not work again.
