Is there a telus CDMA modem for the sprint galaxy tab? I've been looking around because I live in canada and I'm with telus so I was wondering if someone could help me out? thanks
You'd more than likely have to do more than just a modem flash. Not sure how Telus works, but most every other carrier you have to use a MEID that they have on their network, so basically you'd have to find a way to flash your Tab with the MEID of a working Telus device before it would be recognized by their network. Find the thread about getting the Sprint Tab to work on Boost Mobile and you'll have an idea of what it takes.

I need help with a Galaxy Tab that a friend of mine has.
She has purchased a Galaxy Tab from Telstra and it is Next-G capable. However she wants to be able to use her Optus SIM card (she does not like Telstra). She got the unlocking code but something went wrong and now the Galaxy Tab isn't registering any SIM card.
I was wondering if someone could kindly point me in the right direction in perhaps rooting the phone and installing a custom firmware (or perhaps a firmware which pre-unlocks the phone to use any SIM card).
I am fairly familiar with flashing as I've done it a lot on my Galaxy S, however I'm finding it difficult to find the right steps on how to do it with the Galaxy Tab.
So, could someone please provide a helpful link? or point me in the right direction, would be a great help as I should be able to do the rest myself.
EDIT: Perhaps the information below may be helpful
Model Number: GT-P1000T
Firmware version: 2.2
Baseband Version: P1000TDVJJ3
Kernal Version: 2.6.32.9 - [email protected] #1
Build Number: FROYO.DVJJ3
have a look here regarding the "debranding" of your device ! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1000132 . i hope it help !
Thank you very much, will have a read as soon as I get back from a 12 hour shift
Two things....
1/- What 'went wrong' exactly? Can you provide a little more info? Also, curious as to what code you used to unlock and where you got it from? Reason I ask is there isnt much that can go wrong really. It either works, or it doesn't. It's possible the wrong bands are selected if no sim is registering. What band is the asterisk next to when you dial *#2263# ? Just set it to 'Automatic' if it's set to anything else.
2/- I'm not 100% sure, but I think the modem on the Telstra tab may be different. Yes, both Optus and Telstra are 3G GSM, but Telstra use the 850Mhz band for 3G. Optus/Vodafone use 900Mhz. Once unlocked, the Optus sim should register, and you'll get data from GSM, just won't get 3G out of it.
Can someone else that knows tell whether a 850Mhz 3G modem can be flashed to support 900Mhz, or is it built into the hardware?

I have been trying to do the reverse using non telstra GT-P1000 on 850mHz (nextG) an have come to the conclusion it wont work
Trying to go the way you are would just I thought require a modem flash maybe? and changing the settings to automatic as stated already
That said can anyone confirm GT-P1000T is the only model capable of umts 850mHz (ie. next G)
Basicly the tabs are at&t compatible or t-mobile compatible. There are a few odd network carriers out there that don't quite work on either st of frequencies.
Just set the wireless settings to automatic, check for correct apn values, and reboot and wait a few minutes. The tab is slow at connecting if you have a lot on your sd cards.
You can flash modems easily and find what works best.
I've read through the threads I could find, but haven't been able to figure out if I could get 3G speeds using an ATT data sim in a T-Mobile galaxy tab. Does anyone know? And if it's possible, how?
I don't think you can. T-Mobile and AT&T use different radios for 3G.
Never gonna happen, different radios. Edge speeds will work but 3G won't.
I picked up a used Samsung Galaxy S i9000 that was on Virgin (CDMA?). I rooted it, and put JB on it. From another device, I have a Telus data plan that is on 4G. Looking at the i9000 specs, it says it supports GSM and 3G. This where I get confused. The Telus plan I am on is 4G LTE (data). Does this mean that this Sim could fall back to 3G if I use it in my Samsung? I have ran a number of unlock tools (including the Samsung Galaxy S Unlocker) and think that my phone is unlocked, but the radio shows that there is no connection. When I ran the unlocker, it completes but does not say "its done". I can see that I now have the correct APN setting for Telus. The phone sees my SIM and my phone #. And I have the nv_data.bin file ( was not there before running the unlocker). When I look at the phone details, it sees my SIM, knows my phone number etc. It just won't connect. It also has the correct APN settings. If I try to dial a number or use the data, it does not work. Wondering if there are other settings I am missing?
I think the issue is that the sim only runs on Telus 4G and does not fall back to 3G (what the phone is capable of), but again, this is where I am green. I don't know how this works. Does the phone 'ask' the Sim to fall back, or does the network and Sim dictate to the phone what network it will use?

Good evening everyone!
I have a XT1097 on WIND, on 5.0.1 and I'm trying to get Rogers/Fido LTE working. It supports all of the bands but when I select LTE Preferred it defaults to HSPA+, and forcing LTE gives me no service. My brother has an unlocked XT1097 from Telus, on 5.0.1 and the Fido SIM works fine for LTE!
Checking the system settings, there are some software differences: Screencast Link.
How would I go about getting this working on my WIND XT1097? Replace just the baseband? Replace everything? Do I throw the Telus software on it or go for Motorola's OEM software?
TL;DR: I have an XT1097 purchased from WIND CANADA that won't connect to 2100/2600MHz LTE on other networks (proper SIM and all), even though the device supports it. Did WIND purposefully gimp the phone with a different baseband, and how can I fix it?
You can't. Wind doesn't pay Bell of Rogers for access to the LTE bandwidth. No changing of settings will fix that, only having a Bell or Rogers sim.

I think you've misinterpreted my question. I have a phone purchased from WIND (unlocked), and a Fido SIM with a plan. The Fido SIM inside the phone connects me to HSPA+ but not LTE. My guess is that the baseband has been modified by WIND/whoever they get their devices from to lock out the LTE radio, preventing me from connecting to Rogers/Fido LTE with a Fido SIM inside my WIND phone.
My Q: What would be the easiest way to go about getting that fixed? My guess would be to replace the baseband with one that won't lock out the LTE at the software level.
If you unlock the bootloader you can try the Telus firmware but I am sure there are others using the Wind mobile phone on Telus/Bell/Rogers/Fido/Koodo etc and they all get LTE just fine.
Have you tried resetting the phone to default?

After backing everything up, a factory restore did it. I think I spent far too long overthinking this. Thanks for the info everyone!
Hey all, I was wondering if I could use the Metro PCS or T-Mobile roms on my recently updated (and unlocked) AT&T Galaxy S5 on the 6.0.1 update with baseband G900AUCU4DPH2?
If so, what steps (link) should I take to do this? Also, would it be possible if I had to use the T-Mobile rom, can I make wifi calling and video calling? I'm using a Metro PCS sim, and I had a T-Mobile GS4 before and everything worked fine on it, I just can't make Wifi calls with AT&T because they crippled their phone.
Thanks!
