How to downgrade from Miui Or JVR GB to Froyo ? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello , i have alot of troubles with my phone such as
1-Lag in browser ( pinch to zoom lags and browser feels laggy /choppy not smooth)
2-Lag during switching homescreens ( transition effects are laggy )
3-Crazy power drainage at a rate of 10% per hour on IDLE !!
4-any thing that could be "scrolled or switched through" feels laggy and NOT snapy
5-some apps that require mics doesn't work like ilighter ( flame doesn't respond to mic ) but mic is working fine
6-any scrolling through lists ( up and down ) lags
i have tried alot of roms , JVP , JVR , JVQ , JVH , JVO , Surface rom , F1 GS2 V6 , creskilo's rom , darky , jewu's
tried different kernels like speedmod, Darkcore , CF-Root , galaxian
all give the same effect , nothing changes
i tried to over clock....even to 1300MHZ ..... still not even a change
i asked every where , i cleared every cash , wiped all data , system , clean installs , no luck
untill people started telling me to downgrade and updater bootloader
i took it out of the box on Eclair 2.1 Update 1 , and iam not sure if that's the original
can i downgrade to froyo ? and see if i still get lags ? then flash a good GB rom ??
thanks !

[Q] Juwe's Rom 4.3.1 Bugs.

Hello All,
Since i still cannot post any comments in the DEV forum i wanted to ask few questions for the Juwe's Rom 4.3.1 developers who helped to create something almost perfect.
I am a very heavy user for the I9000 SGS and i have been trying Juwe's 4.3.1 ROM and i noticed few things.
1- The device is overheating when i am using the you tube application .
2- The battery performance is great only when you are disabling data networks , due to the nature of my work i have to keep it up at all times , and the battery drains is faster than the stock gingerbread release 2.3.3
3- Front camera is not working properly using the camera application but works perfect on video calls.
4- This is not related to this ROM in particular but i also witnessed it on the Simplyhoney v3 ROM as well - There are applications that i cannot find on the android market such as ( Whatsapp messenger , flash player , angry birds , advanced task killer , bubbles , islamic salat widget , hijri calendar ,.. )
5- Last is the arabic patch doesn't have keyboard ?! " can some one help with it please "
Note : The files stored for the TW4 is corrupted on both hotfile and deposit , please check this as well.
Yet thanks for the creators of the ROM and the team helped them it is some piece of work .
Regards,
Ahmed A Gad
I noticed that i cannot send sms anymore. I can recive allthought. Worked fine few days ago, no changes made during this time. Anyone has same problem?
Maybe problem with modem.try search posts with modem.i use juwe for 15 days not even singe force close or any bug.if you use packet data alltime ofcpurse battery will drain also on wifi.

Re flashed XWJVH and reinstalled juwes rom, everything works again.
Boot animation loop
Hi all,
I have been a darky fan all along and decided today to try out Juwe's new rom. I followed his instructions exactly.
Previously, I was on Ficeto's JVP base rom, Dark Core 2.7.3.
I disabled voodoo lagfix, booted into Download mode and flashed stock firmware from samfirmware.com - I9000XWJVH 2.3.3
When using Odin (v1.3), I only placed the the stock firmware in PDA. I checked re-partition and used the appropriate pit file.
Then phone rebooted normally, and then I used 3-button combo to get it back into Download mode. I used Odin again to flash the CF-Root v3.2 Kernel (Re-partition UNTICKED)
Then I flash Juwe v4.3.1 (wipe) via CWM. Wipe cache + Dalvik.
everything has gone well so far, then I boot the phone and it loads Juwe's Smart Edition animation - Earth shaking animation.
However it continues to replay this boot animation forever!
I tried reflashing from the beginning multiple times and it still doesn't work! Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
Ahilen
Wait, tomorow juwe release new version based on jvp and i mean withot bug

[Q] Serious problems after flashing

Hi every one , iam new to flashing but I trained to flash like 10 times , I went from stock 2.1 to gingerbread 2.3.4 and then downgraded to 2.3.3 after having problems with F1 GS2 V6 , now I need a very solid rom because I can't see any difference between 2.1 an 2.3.3 or 4 they both lag now after flashing JV6 I found that my music plays at a veryyyyyyyyy bad quality if I raise the volume more than 8 the quality is horrible., the browser laggs , boot animation is veryyyy laggy and even the audio is out of sync from video , when I scroll in contacts list it doesn't seem smooth but laggy and slow , same for music player and any other list that has scrolling , I need u guys to tell me what's the reason for all this lag although iam on speedmod kernel , I tried darky's rom and I didn't like it same for crystko or w/e named , heow can I fix this lag and this weird sound problem? I also tried re flash but no fix , plz also tell me or recommend to me the best rom and custom rom and I will do as u guys tell me thxxx and iam very frustrated
Why don't you try a stock unrooted 2.3.4 JVQ for a while and see how that goes, before diving into custom roms?
You can d/l one from here samfirmware
i will look into that , but iam trying to get the best because i want to stabalize and start to customize my mobile , i need to re import my contacts and live normally ! :S
i also want to fix this sound problem iam afraid that the problem may be hardware but .... i don't think so
also JVQ has browser issues and needs to be fixed

[Q] Serious lagg , tried every thing you could imagine

Hello guys , i own SGS I9000 , came across very weird lagg when i flashed from stock eclair 2.1 to Gigerbread 2.3.4 , i have tried almost every rom except CM7 and Miui
i really liked the F1 GS2 V6 custom rom but i removed it due 2 bugs and reboots / lags
my MAIN lag is in browser and ANY thing that is related to scrolling , i just don't know what the F*ck is wrong with scrolling when i scroll down in my android market ...it's not smooth , when i scroll down in my music player , it's not Butter smooth but rather kinda choppy , scrolling down the contacts list , is rather choppy /laggy a bit not smooth , APP drawer , is choppy /laggy and not SMOOTH omggggg
i have tried clearing dalvik cash , wiped cash , factory reset , changed many roms , like JV6/ JVR/JVQ,JVH,JVP they all have the same problem
i tried darky's rom , jeuwes , F1 gs2 v6 , they all have the same problem :/ :/
BROWSER has some laggs too , when i pinch to zoom it takes about fraction of a second late to respond sometimes , also i can see some pixels when i pinch to zoom (( please help i will try to donate to whoever helps me solve this crapp problem , iam on Surface rom last , Speedmod kernek K15i-16
Lag fix disabled ( i have tried on many roms and i can't seen a change ) but not on this rom
i haven't tried Miui rom , i have watched some videos like this one
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ls4V496kwI
look how fast this thing goes !!!!!!!! can any one help me make my SGS like this one !????????????????????? any tweaks ?
is it available for 2.3.4 ?? JVR
I have galnets miui (chameleon RC1) with the neo 17 r7 kernel (really fast kernel).
Its increadibly fast even without overclocking.
I do recommend a ram tweak because with the stock settings it starts to lag after some time.
I personnaly use "autokiller memory optimizer" from the market.
Then I set the presets (press the menu button) to strict.
Now my sgs is really fast and it never lags.

i have flashed miui rom like 2 hours ago and iam shocked, it's very beautiful , buti i experince the same lag in the same place at the same time again..... it happens with all kernels and roms man iam tired of **** sh*t , any idea ??? i even tried Over clocking to max 1300 MHZ...... not even 1 single change in speed has hapened
Just out of interest, what quadrant score do you get?

1500 , less than 2000 for sure
sounds like you need a complete cleanse of your system and a clean install. The latest GTO Tornado kernel provides for a complete clean, flash the kernel, go into recovery, clean your system, connect usb, mount the sd card, copy rom, unmount, install rom in recovery, all clean and no lag (at least with Tornado RC2 rom, can't guarantee any one else's roms, but then you have tried most to know that already...)
Hmmm....
If you download the TEMP/CPU app, what is your CPU utilisation and free memory when the phone is doing nothing? (set display timeout to a long time) and watch.
My phone ticks over at 1-2% when its doing nothing proving the android overhead is very low.
Have you tried deleting all of the bloatware (I use SGS Chlorine) to automatically delete bloatware? I delete the following:-

I think you do need to a clean install of JVR (odexed) followed by a factory reset. I also keep my apps in internel memory.
Then try latest semaphore kernel, I use Tegrak to set max CPU speed to 1.1Ghz and its very fast and rock solid.
u need to format the internal,(phone),ext mem ,,i mean a totall format
Install CM.

what i have tried is , Factory rest , then install clean as usall
cleared dalvik cash , cash partitions , formated internal memory ( lost all contacts , gallery , music ) then flashed normal
now iam on miui 1.8.26 and it installs JVK 2.3.5 automatically i guess , kernel = wolveren ( STOCK with miui )

deodexed: easier to tweak, lighter on ram, heavier on space, slightly more laggy.
odexed: faster boot (after dalvik wipe), easier on space, harder to tweak themes, slightly more RAM, smoother/faster!
Odexed JVR browser doesn't suffer with the known lag, also try opera browser as this is fast

i flashed MiUi Rom it's very pretty and i will be using it for a long time , it fixed some lags at certain areas , Opera browser REALLY is better than stock very fast , sometimes it's snappy but i get a bit lag during pinch to zoom OUT or move arround in browser , i get lag during transition effect , like when i switch from a home screen to the next one it's choppy , any idea ???
MIUI and CM7 which MIUI is based on are indeed super smooth roms for me and bunch of other people. I've been on MIUI for a month now and that in itself is sign of how good MIUI is, I love to flash my phone, one of the reasons I came back to SGS and android after an iOS episode.
My point is that I cannot believe all the issues you have with all these roms.
Every android lags every now and than even SGS 2, u learn to live with it. Even iOS has micro lags sometimes, granted I had 3gs but in general iOS is miles ahead of android when it comes to that. So trade ur SGS for an iphone and have a lag free life. Well, almost.

they ALLLL give the same SH*TTy resultus a laggy browser, pinch to zoom shows pixels and it looks choppy laggy , Dolphine HD browser is even worse
basically any thing that is related to scrolling or zooming , is NOT smooth , iam running stock miui and i have tried many kernels for miui .....alllll give the same results .... just uglier colors , also i have tried the over clocking using voltage control app..... set it to 1200 Max , and 1300 , NOT EVEN 1 DIFFERENCE ....... Thx for your concern and reply . i don't know what's deodexed , but all i know is that i have this lag on every rom i get they are all STOCK , downloaded from samfirmware directly are they deodexed ????
now i flashed miui rom on a jvr 2.3.4 stock ( which had surface rom ) i guess miui replaced it ! , i ran a factory reset and cleared cashes and dalivk cash.
iam sure if i flashed your rom i will still get lag , because all roms are fast , every one tells me , flash " something " it's veryyyy fast !! no lag ! , i flash it ......and boom , same lag in the same place !
unelss you mean flash tornado rom then flash over it a miui ( if it's possible lol )
I think you have to use another browser then. I think that the problem of stock browser can't be fixed. Try dolphin or opera (very happy if i'm wrong)

[Q] Dual boot request gt-n7000

hello xda developers team
i am really excited to be a part of this big community ..... anyway i really need a big favor of one of the great developers regarding multi booting procedure on my samsung galaxy note gt-n7000 :
i tried the Dual Boot 5Roms G-Note [TW, CM9&CM10] method but it seems old enough for the official jelly bean update from samsung .... so can anyone help me to successfully multi boot these roms :
1. samsung official jelly bean 4.1.2 LSB - UAE : As my main rom
2. Sweet rom ICS 4.0.4 v5 : Secondary , Mainly to use it with the amazing garmin street pilot 1.49 until jelly bean version stabilize
3. Cyanogen Rom jb 4.2.2+ : as to be kept up to date with this amazing rom
i usually install excess roms on internal sdcard rom1 and rom 2
the main problem i think is with dual booting jb and ics ,,,, i tried too many kernels already ,,, about 80% of those in the [JB][ICS][GB] Kernel Repository actually but nothing seems to be dual boot - able with an easy method !!
i can dual boot between ics roms just fine when i was on ics samsung and sweetrom v5 , only menu press while booting is reqiured
i can boot official jb with 17.03.2013 - PhilZ-cwm6 v4.89.4 with CWM 6.0.2.9 based recovery just fine , or speed mod kernel k5-1 and k5-2
when i need to go to ics : the nightmare starts by flashing Chuan_Dualboot_Aroma_v2.3c.zip and mounting the 2nd rom partitions and then flashing Chuan_Dualboot_Aroma_v2.3c.zip AGAIN to setting default rom on rom1 sdcard and flash a dual boot kernel then reboot !
i really need to dual boot with the easiest way possible and never to flash kernels all the day for switching from a rom to another !!
by the way : 2nd and 3rd roms seems to have only 0.96 gb of data storage ,,,, this sucks actually because i usually use about 1.34gb Without garmin sp which takes up to 180mb additional on the data partition ,,,, so this is a problem too !! , i really would like to have an option for 1.5 - 2gb data partition allocation , please no talking around for and link2sd or other stuff cause i am a really heavy torrent user on my 32gb microsd card and would like every thing separated as possible !
btw : i never tried Cyanogen Mod before but when dual boot is good enough between those two roms ( jplsb-uae , sweet rom v5 ) i might take a look at it ...
thanks for taking time and reading my post !
yours
sniper9911
one more thing
i also found another thing that bothers me A LOT !!
when i try to do a restart from sweet rom v5 ics 4.0.4 ( which is on sdcard rom1 ) and device shuts down then galaxy note logo appears ..... sometimes after that it hangs at a black screen consuming alot of battery .... i could never get this ics rom to boot afterwards until i did this :
i managed to go to cwm vol up + power + home and then flash philz jb kernel , boot jb rom , restart , go to recovery again , mount sd rom 1 partitions , set boot properties , flash hydracore 4.3 std kernel ( which i always flash no matter what , i tried the oc version which worked because my note voltage is group b but too much battery consumption made me revert back to std ) and finally reboot and choose to boot from sd rom 1 !!
what i am missing here ?!
thanks anyway
sniper9911
I have the same wish
Hi! I have the same wish as you, i need dual boot for The Official Samsung Android 4.1.2 with TouchWiz and also with SlimWizz2 wich has a tablet interface with TouchWiz also, but i couldn't manage to dualboot them. I also wanted to dual boot them with xperiaNote but no way ! We need a kernel for dualbooting TouchWiz based ROMs, one to work as Siyah kernel...i hope someone will hear us...

I would like that too ,,, Wait i have an idea !
can we get a hand with a script by our beloved developers to mount partitions, flash kernels , and reboot using chaundualbootaromav2.3.zip in the dual boot menu derctly ! ,,,, in this way every time we press on the rom we want we can boot to it very fast
i would like to choose which kernel to flash and to change the boot menu name for my rom too ,,, using this way we can multiboot GB , ICS , JB , and CM 4.2.2 too ... but the kernels needs to be modified to be multiboot-able !
i love the speed of hydracore v7 on sweetrom v5 ,,,, the same speed as a note ii and very aggressive too ( 874mb ram ! ) but the video support sucks actually on this rom plus the camera drivers needs to be modified last picture taken on stays on the screen ,,, but its okay even if it is stayed just like that , just add dual boot support please !
I noticed an exciting thing too with the latest hydracore ,, when you play where's my water , where's my perry it seems silky smooth at first and a lot of physics particles with higher resolution appears ( i would say like note ii but i have never played it on that monster ! ) ( and when alot of water particles are on screen you get arount 10 - 7 fps ) and it seems no matter what you do battery does really suck on this kernel ,, talking about standard version here for sure
one more thing about hydracore v7 : when i play games with this amazing kernels it seems to be consuming the battery in a way that i experienced a very strange thing : battery low notification appears on my screen while playing so i plug my ( 2A , 5v output ) charger from samsung and the battery seems to get lower values ( as if the charger is not enough or the device doesnt benefit from it ) as long as i am playing ( i.e : using gpu , cpu together ) ,,, i think this is a fault by this kernel
also i would like speedmod kernel k3-15 for stable usage and it charges while playing but i misssed the huge performance gap between speedmod and hydracore v7
If anyone can help us we would appreciate it too....
any ideas ?
any ideas guys ?
please devs .... help us here
still waiting
