Static IP: 192.168.0.1
Subnet : 255.255.255.0
Tab:
Static IP: 192.168.0.3
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.0.1
DNS 1: 192.168.0.1
My internet connection on notebook is shared and my tablet connect at my ad hoc network correctly but if I try to ping with this command ping 192.168.0.3 dont work. Also internet dont work on my tab.

If I set static ip on tablet and on my pc, tablet seems connected ( from tablet) but not connected from pc.
If I set automatically ip address my tablet remains on "obtaining ip address" without connect.

Accessing My Linksys Router Using Kaiser

I heard that you can access you Linksys router using your phone as long as you are connected to you wireless network and have web access. I have been unable to get this to work... Any ideas anyone?
Same way you would for anything, has nothing to do with the Tilt... If you're doing it from the internet, you have to turn on something which is likely called "Remote Administration" or something similar and access your internet IP address in a browser.
From the wireless network itself, just go to the router's IP address in your browser.
if you are at home and connected to your router via wi-fi just open your browser and in the address bar type in 192.168.1.1 (usually the default address for linksys router, otherwise look up correct address for your model). you will be prompted for user ID and password default admin:admin. this is the same way you access your router from your PC. it is also possible to access your wireless router at home when you are away by just using media net (or whoever your carrier is' data connection.) just like khaytsus says, you need to first turn on remote access while connected to your router from home.

PPPoE on Android?

Hi,
I have an interesting problem. I am in Dubai, where the ISP (Etisalat) provides Internet via Fiber-optic cables to my residence. They have this modem which I connect my wi-fi router to.
After connecting to my wi-fi router the usual way, I have to dial-in via a Broadband PPPoE connection, where I provide the ISP username and password. I have to do this every time I connect to the Internet.
Unfortunately, this means I cannot connect my Nexus One to the Internet This is because I am not aware of any app/functionality that enables PPPoE dialing on Android.
I had installed Connectify for Windows 7 that enabled me to share my authenticated Internet connection with other devices (and hence my N1). However, after FR83, this seems to have stopped working as well, for some reason. It is extremely difficult to connect to the shared Wifi created by Connectify, and even after connecting, I cannot browse the Internet.
I have already tried setting a static IP address for the N1, but this did not resolve the issue.
Can anybody offer guidance, ideas? Any help would be much appreciated!
Cheers,
PI
Get a router, set the router to connect through PPPoE and every device that connects to the wireless router will work.
Thanks, but I wouldn't want to spend more money...

Thanks, but I wouldn't want to spend more money on another router. I have a Wi-fi router already, but I don't know if it has the ability to connect via PPPoE. It's a 3COM 3CRWDR200A-75.
Will try and research if I can enable PPPoE via this somehow.
Cheers,
PI
Protocol Set: Dynamic and static IP addressing, DHCP Server, NAT/PAT (with TCP and UDP), PPTP/PPPoE, CHAP, IPCP, SNTP.

There you go.
Set your current router to connect through pppoe and you are ready.
Good luck.
droid does

More accurately, it is a router that happens to have a wireless interface. Most home wireless routers usually have the functionality of a switch as well (that is, providing multiple connections to the same local network), but they usually include routing capability to move traffic from your local area network to the Internet.
Hi guys. I have not access to market because of my region. Can any body get me the WIFI PPPoE ?
wifi pppoe doesnt work for me

[Q] wifi adhoc issues

hi guys,
i have been breaking my head to sort this out.
i'm not able to connect to my laptop internet via wifi on the Note. i have this application called connectify that automatically creates a wifi hotspot on my laptop (i don't have a router). with this im easily able to connect symbian devices on it (my old phones)
but the Note doesn't even detect this hotspot. so i researched a lot and finally found a galaxy sii modified file "wpa_supplicant" which i replaced in the system/bin folder of my GNote. now the phone detects the hotspot but remains stuck at "Obtaining IP address". the status doesnt change from this and not able to connect.
so again i played around and enabled static IP on the phone. i entered some ip address, gateway, netmask and DNS values i got on the net (for another internet connection bsnl 3g). (my own ip is not static, im trying to share a mts mblaze datacard connection) now im getting the "connected" status but when i go to browser it doesnt load up any website. please help. hope i am clear
in ipconfig my values show as follows
ipv4 address: 180.215.40.199
subnet mask: 255.255.255.255
default gateway: 0.0.0.0
i tried with the above values and its not even reaching the "obtaining ip address" status.
Sorry...had a question, but just figured it out myself...can't help you either though.
Regards,
ChaosDM

I had the same problem before, what I did is to use a different wpa_supplicant then copying it to /system/bin, changing its permission (just copy the original wpa's permission) and rebooting afterwards.
It worked for me in stock LA4 Firmware (2.3.6). But most of the time i had to set the wifi setting to static ip so that it will connect instantly so I recommend you do the same if it doesnt connect automatically.

sorry to bring this old thread up,
but since the ICS update it seems that the wpa_supplicant replacement no longer worked ,,,after replacemant you wont be able to even turn the wifi on
wondering if there's any other way or could someone plz modify the wpa_supplicant file from the new ICS rom so to creat a new wpa_supplicant that works on ICS?
thanks!
after the latest update of Connectify, my note can connect to the hotspot by connectify without any problems
Yes indeed

Kies Air access from outside network issue

My desktop LAN and wifi are different network. My office network is 192.168.1.x and wifi router WAN IP is 192.168.1.254 and wifi router LAN network is 192.168.15.x
My Note connects to wifi router and gets 192.168.15.2. I got wifi router configured to give static DHCP IP to my phone and it always gets 192.168.15.2. I then added port mapping to forward TCP port 8080 to this IP.
So when I run Kies Air, it displays URL http://192.168.15.2:8080
and from my desktop I type http://192.168.1.254:8080 and IT DOES NOT WORK. As soon as I hit go, URL gets forwarded to http://192.168.1.254:8080/www/index.html (blank screen) which means browser did reach Kies Air service but then nothing goes further.
I had done similar port mapping with other similar kind of apps (AirDroid, LazyDroid App Desktop, Motorola's similar app) and it always used to work.
Laptops in the same n/w (i.e., 15.x) are able to connect to Kies Air without any issue. My wifi router is DLink DIR 655. Any clues?
disable DHCP from your wifi router and let all devices get their IP from your original router. that way, you will be in the same IP range.
Thanks for the reply. Yes that is one solution to set wifi router in AP mode. But problem is we don't have master dhcp server leasing out 198.168.1.x IPs. All desktop are given static IP and there is firewall deciding who is given access to where and to do what.

[Q] Wifi Hotspot not working (DNS Problem)

Hello All,
Internet is not working on my laptop when I use my Incredible S's WIFI Hotspot. Connection is ok with following IPs:
Laptop IP: 192.168.1.80
DHCP Server IP: 192.168.1.1
DNS Server IP: 192.168.1.1
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1
When I use USB tethering everything goes fine but when I use WIFI Hotspot, internet doesnot work. I configured that my Laptop is unable to get the DNS resolution from my mobile as I can still connect Skype on my laptop.
I cannot ping www.google.com but if I can put the direct IP of google server (like 173.194.34.164) I get the ping response. This means my DNS server is having problems in resolving web addresses for my laptop.
I am using stock ICS 4.0.4.
Please help
